This is such a nice park with the biggest trees I have seen here in London. It is definitely worth visiting it and even staying for a bit of rest, meditation or doing some physical activities.

This beautiful bandstand is well maintained - well done Southwark Council (or not - read below!) These historical Victorian structures are under threat and many throughout England have disappeared. The Bowie Bandstand in Beckenham (Bromley Council) is in a very poor state. See Paul Rabbitt's books on them. So use them! Perform a spontaneous artistic event - Recite some Shakespeare - perform a mime! - Play a tin whistle tune! Keep them alive! Postscript - apparently this bandstand is new! Apparently modelled on Clapham Common's Bandstand - which in turn was modelled on one of two - the sister of which used to be here in Southwark Park! What goes around comes around. It was paid for (millions!) by lottery funds and built by Dorothea Ironworks. Apparently the originals were built by Captain Fowke for the Great Exhibition and were evicted from there. London County Council purchased the two for Southwark Park and Peckham Rye in about 1889. The original Southwark Park one was donated to the 'melt-down' patriotic movement for the war and melted down! (Very little of melted-down products were used for the 'war effort'. It was a fraudulent test of patriotism and ruined many front gardens' wrought iron designs still seen today). So the Southwark Park Bandstand is a modern replacement.

This is a beautiful place, a landmark within Southwark park. Small "monument" that has been used for some movies. It is big enough to keep a small music band too. If you like physics, you can put yourself in the middle of the landmark just below the roof and enjoy and play with echo, echo, echo, echo. If you like photography, this place is lovely too to take some nice photos, especially if you are getting married and want a place to remember forever.

Meticulously detailed pastiche of a Victorian styled bandstand and set on site of original bandstand’s footprint. (demolished during WWII.) Surrounded by a ring of veteran Plane trees forming an attractive component and focal point of the park. Modelled on the larger bandstand at Clapham Common but this beauty really excels in this snug habitat.

The Victorian park bandstand in Southwark park is quite new as it was built recently thanks to a grant of the Lottery fund. The original one was melted down during second world war.

This spot has kept my business alive during the tier 2 system! In the summer it's a must see as many different folk enjoy this historic beauty for different reasons... brass band, break dancing, workouts etc. My clients love the surrounding trees and the shelter we have from the rain

perfectly lovely structure, and I expect probably quite gopopd for bands as well, but unfortunately I don't much enjoy standing. Some seats would be most welcome. 2 stars.

I love this bandstand. Such a picturesque throwback to Victorian times. I think it is hugely underused. Occasional music performances, but I think it could be developed more as a music and theatre venue.

It’s a Nice Park, But Be careful. It’s very insecure. My Girlfriend has been stolen at 5:30pm daylight even. So be careful and take care of your belongings and your phone specially.

It's fabulous in the early morning, cyclists, runners, dog walkers. A drop of beauty amongst the hustle and bustle of modern London
