I started mossbourne community academy thinking that it was gonna be the best experience ever and that I would come out of it not only becoming a better version of my self but also achieving top grades in all my subjects however it was the opposite. I had a really rough time when I first joined the school because it felt as if I was put into the military service. I felt as if I couldn’t express my self and I felt as if I was doing something wrong every second which really pressured me as I was a good student and I was respectful. However I felt as if I was treated unfairly by staff. The academys policies made me feel as if I was manipulated as if the school didn’t understand that we do not live in the 1900s and that we live in 2020 where society has changed a lot in terms of discipline. I would like to start off with the fact there is no physical contact allowed in the school. I feel like this rule is limiting students to express them selves around their friends. I understand that to a certain extent some physical actions done by students may result in bigger conflict but if anything extreme was to happen it would be reported by a student and seen by the teachers but as someone who is not used to this I was very paranoid that I would be punished for being close to my friends and accidentally touching them. And the fact that we were shouted at for the little actions that were done for example spudding your friend is absolutely ridiculous because it’s the way society communicates with each other. We were made to feel as if we failed life if we done this and this is something Which bothered me a lot. Second of all I will like to talk ab the fact that students couldn’t express themselves in terms of how they wanted their hair to be. I was picked on a lot by teachers when it came to this and was getting into trouble for the way I look. As someone who has grown up in a modern society I would like to say how important I think it is to be able to express your self as there is people who like to express themselves in different ways for example some people like to dye their hair or cut the sides shorter than the top. We are human and we cannot be dictated and be made to look the same. I struggled a lot when it came to this and felt like I was being judged by teachers because of the way I look . I was told I cannot come INTO SCHOOL BECAUSE OF MY HAIR. As a ordinary person with basic human rights I have the right to look however I want. On the other hand I was a very hard working student and I was very respectful but I was still being discriminated every day. Coming from an Asian background hair is something which is very common in our background and it’s something we grow as we were brought up this way but the fact that I wasn’t able to express my self was not only psychologically affecting me but was also affecting my education at school. Health comes before everything and u have to be mentally well in order to be happy in the learning environment your in and I clearly wasnt. and on top of that i had to catch up with the work my self when i was clearly sent home for this stupid reason. Second of all i was told that i will go to a bad place in life from the way i look and i was told that it is a method of motivation. so the way to motivate is to bring students down. lovely. AND WHEN I ASKED WHAT HAS MY HAIR GOT TO DO WITH MY EDUCATION I GOT TOLD THAT IT IS TO MAKE THE SCHOOL LOOK BETTER AND STUDENTS MORE BUISNESS LIKE. so i have to basically modify my self for the schools reputation and buisness men definitely all have short hair. i can name so many people who are not like that. The mentally of most of the staff was very old fashioned especially upper school and i dont think they are living in 2020 and clearly have schizophrenia as they are in a different planet. I felt as if my teachers had something towards me for no reason and they used to make me feel stupid for not being a level 9 student and as if im going to fail life and i felt like i did not belong anywhere. honestly I think I suffer brain damage.

As many have said before this school is really strict. The education is amazing, but for those who can bear all the bs. The teachers give detentions for small and random things, like tripping, laughing, smiling etc. They simply don't want you to be happy. My Head of Year even admitted it. There used to be great teachers, but the school took them all to the new school (Victoria Park) and replaced them with new ones who had no idea what they were doing and simply wanted to pander to their bosses. Those new teachers thus started dishing out pointless detentions left, right and centre. They squeezed lunch times to 1 hour instead of 2, forced children to eat quickly and actively promoted not talking to your friends or being around them. Detentions were sometimes 3 hours long and simply served to waste your time. The school wanted to keep you in for as long as possible. Some detentions were in the mornings, some on Saturdays. They had this thing called the LSU which is essentially you spending the whole day in a container. I passed out twice in the middle of the night trying to do the homeworks they gave, which were way too much. I was told to do 3 exam papers in 2 hours! If you want your child to have a great education, go ahead, put them here. If you don't believe that they can stay sane during it, or are mentally weaker, then I suggest not. The teachers are out there to shout and scream at you and embarrass you in front of the whole school. I've seen many girls cut themselves from all the stress in their lives (which the school did nothing to help with).

The Learning Center and the teachers in the learning center are good and the school principal is nice but lots of things are unfair and not really satisfying especially for Children with Autism and the Year 7s who started. Like I think year 7s should get second chances for the first few weeks because they don't understand the school properly. Also with the ones that have autism should also get a second chance most of the time because sometimes they can't help it and have a difficulty. Some things that are unfair that you get in trouble for are Parent forgetting to sign child's planner, Accidentally doing something silly and not able to have certain haircuts. Also like every teacher says quickly!, Hurry Up! Or Move It!. But what if you have a bad leg? They force you to go quick. I think the school should be less strict and more helpful to the pupils in year 7 and the pupils that have autism or learning difficulties.

This school is focused on breeding students with absolutely low self esteem and no self worth because of the complete lack of respect and compassion received from any teachers. All the teachers seem like they get off from abusing their authority and causing mental health for student.

THIS SCHOOL SUCKS SO BAD. ITS prison, i went to sixth form here and ever since i wanted to leave. The lessons are so Lackluster so pointless that you fall asleep. Way too strict and Intense are we in a school or are we in a miltary boarding school ask your self that. The students are terrible all they do is judge and judge when there not even perfect themselves, what the point of even making friends when they don't even help you they just tell you what to do.sometimes even annoy you.Making friends in Mossbourne IS COMPLETELY POINTLESS.There not a lot of activites so you get tired quick. The teachers treat you as if you have no soul no life they shout at you for even the dumbest things like making a mistake or informing someone what they should do if there stuck. Overall the experience is lackluster and an experience i would rather forget.sigh Just another forgettable experience.By the Sixth form is even worse than Lower school

They never answer their phones. Then if you write to them, you get a generic message back that says "Please note that this account is not monitored daily and is for general enquiries only ... to ensure safe management of our communications with parents and carers, we would ask that you please contact the academy via telephone." If they can't even get contacting them right, what else are they bad at?

I used to think my childs education comes before everyhing. Since my daughter started this school, i now know clearly that my childs mental health and happiness is much more important then anything else. it has been the worst experience of our life and i know its not just my family that has gone through this. Think twice before sending your child to mossbourne Victoria or Community academy. No one has the right to ruin your childs future! Things need to change in this School!

One of the worst schools in the whole of london. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD/CHILDREN HERE. Unless you want them to be mistreated and depressed 24/7.

Mossbourne is good school for learning but the staff are really mean to the students I always want to give my kids the best chance of education but there is one thing parents missing when they applying for this school !! Mental well being The sad thing is when they speak about respect but they don’t respect the students and also parents they don’t even inform the parents if the child has a 1 hour detention on the day you can’t even reach them through the phone if you leave a message for your child's ,head of year they don’t get back to you I am disappointed with the school as parents and I am regretting my choice off this school if your child is not happy in the school they will never succeed in them life even if you send them to the best school

I was one of the first students in this school when it opened in 2004. They were very strict but as I look back now it was all for a great cause. We all had amazing grades and are now doing very well with our lives. I'm so proud of their program that I have send my daughter to the mossbourbe riverside.

I’m currently a student at this school and it’s great if you’re well behaved and in good sets. However some of the rules are a bit strict in my opinion. For example, the hair rules and the fact you’re not allowed to bring your phone is a bit strange because you would think you need it for safeguarding. Other than that most of the staff are very helpful and the students are kind

I was talking to a friend recently and she was telling me about the secondary school she went to. These rules are awfully strict... but I know why. They are training the students for WWIII. You must think I'm crazy right? But the headteacher apparently looks like a hitman! Coincidence?! I think not. He definitely wants to start WWIII and make these students his secret unit when the time comes. I feel like at this point he should have them do 100 push ups during their lunch times. All the male students have to have each strand of their hair the same length. This is because he wants them to look the same as each other! Enemies will be confused when attacked by these students. SUPER EFFECTIVE. The girls must not have hair longer than down to their shoulders. Want to know why? He wants them to look the same as well. Again, enemies will be confused when attacked. Anyway don't send your kids here.

I worked here for 9 years. If you want your child to excel then this is the school to send them. They are caring, despite what people think, and have a strong ethos. They have BSP, PSP & PEP reviews. They have a small SEN department which despite its size is excellent, alongside the TA support. You have to be willing to commit. They go over and above to assist disabled children to receive their education. Their aim is to be consistent for all students across the school. Their good qualities are structure & discipline. Their downside is reorganising i.e. support staff.
