I wasn’t going to post a review even after the worst haircut they gave my dog. I decided to give the groomroom a try since my usual groomer was fully booked and my dog needed a small trim before we went away. My dog came back unrecognisable and they somehow managed to irritate his surgery area which was already fully healed. It was all red and swollen for weeks. He showed very unusual behaviour when I collected him and this lasted for two days. I paid over £50 and they didn’t even bother to pluck the hair out of his ears or shave the fur on his paw and he had the most uneven haircut. However, the reason I decided to leave a bad review is because today I took him back to my usual groomer and she said his behaviour towards grooming has completely changed and she even had to use a muzzle to clip his nails which has never happened before - he’s been groomed ever since he was fully vaccinated so he is not a stranger to this at all. I don’t know what they did to him during his session but he’s now somewhat traumatised. I do not recommend coming here at all.

by far the worst pets at home I have ever been to, not only the staff there were very rude and talked to me and my partner in a aggresive way but they also made a joke out of my dog by cutting the hair as short as they could. I do not recommend to go to this store. I will deffinetly not go back to this place and will indeed make a report about this. Bellow you can see how they made a joke out of my dog.

I recently visited Pets at Home in Friern Barnet and I was pleasantly surprised by the exceptional level of service provided by their staff. Not only did they have a fantastic selection of products available for all kinds of pets, but they also had an on-site veterinary clinic that offered top-notch care for my furry friend. The customer service was truly outstanding, with the staff being incredibly friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They took the time to listen to my concerns and offered expert advice on the best products and treatments for my pet's needs. In addition to the excellent customer service, there was also plenty of parking available right outside the store, making my shopping experience even more convenient. What sets this store apart from others is their on-site veterinary clinic. The vets were highly skilled and experienced, providing my pet with the best possible care. It was a huge relief to know that I could get all of my pet's needs met in one convenient location. Overall, I would highly recommend Pets at Home in Friern Barnet to anyone looking for a comprehensive pet shopping experience. Their variety of products, exceptional customer service, and on-site veterinary clinic make them a top choice. I give this store a five-star rating and will definitely be returning for all my pet care needs.

I didn’t want to leave such an awful review but I just have to given what’s happened. I took my maltipoo in for a groom yesterday, showed the lady a picture of exactly how she had been previously groomed and when I got her back I was in such shock. I don’t like making a fuss so signed her out so it is what it is. But I really think you guys need to employ proper groomers and not just sign people off on the job to just have someone in there because this is really quite unacceptable. I will never bring either of my dogs back in for a groom. Really upset. Also, my maltipoo did not have a single knot in her coat, I comb and brush her every single day so there was absolutely no need for this level of shaving. Enjoy the store as a whole however, such a shame.

Went out to buy a toilet seat in B&Q and ended up coming home with Fish tank for new fishes! Staff very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful in buying new fish. Even helped cheer up a very upset 5 year old when she realised we couldn't actually take the fish home that day!

Lack of Care and Attention This is my dog’s registered vet. However, I recently had an unfortunate experience with a veterinarian that left me deeply disappointed. My dog, who was already stressed during the visit, did not receive the level of care and attention I had expected. From the moment we walked in, it was evident that the veterinarian did not prioritise my dog's comfort. Despite my dog displaying clear signs of anxiety, the vet made no attempt to create a calming environment or to establish a connection with my distressed pet. This lack of empathy and understanding deeply concerned me. As the examination began, it quickly became apparent that the veterinarian was not invested in fully assessing my dog's condition. Rather than taking the time to address my dog's stress or trying alternative methods to keep him calm, the vet appeared rushed and did not bother to make any extra efforts. This neglect was both disheartening and unprofessional. Furthermore, the veterinarian did not exhibit the necessary skills to handle a stressed animal effectively. There was no attempt to use gentle handling techniques, treats, or positive reinforcement to help alleviate my dog's anxiety. Instead, I had to ask for the vet to try stroke him and give treats to gain his trust. A skilled veterinarian should be capable of assessing and treating animals regardless of their stress levels. By not going the extra mile to accommodate my dog's discomfort, this veterinarian failed to meet even the minimum expectations I had for their professional expertise. I left feeling frustrated and concerned about the lack of care and attention my pet received during this visit. It is crucial for any veterinary professional to prioritise the well-being and comfort of their patients. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend this vet to others who are seeking compassionate and empathetic care for their beloved pets. I was not even told what the possible causes of my dog’s illness can be. Instead I was told that she can’t do anything if she does not assess him physically which had not occurred because she did not try enough. I was basically charged £60 for a conversation which left me with nothing, not even possible reasons for his symptoms. It is my hope that this review serves as constructive feedback and encourages the veterinarian to reflect on their approach to patient care, ultimately improving their level of service and compassion in the future.

This store has improved massively since many years ago when I saw a guy steal cold water fish and walk out with insider girl staff at til turning blind eye. The new Indian manager is better and very friendly.

Today I was here and it was a long queue a guy jumped on the queue and the cashier (narish )ignored others and helped that guy when others complaining. It means the company doesn’t help staff to understand the real meaning on customer respects.

After popping into Pets at Home for five minutes at 10 am in the morning I received a £100 parking fine for my wheel being 30 cm over the parking bay lines. The car park was empty. No way to reward a loyal customer I will never use Pets at Home or the Friern Barnet Retail Park again.

Good selection of items. Budget items gets sold out quickly such as wood pellets litter, cat nap. Staff are always friendly and greet with a smile.

I had an oppointment in their groom room. What a disappointment. I have Border Collie x dog and he is even not big as pure breed but they wanted to charge from me as a large dog. According to them Border Collies were large breed dogs. What a shame, never again.

The worst groomers we have experienced. We have taken our Golden Retriever here a couple of times and it has been just as bad each experience. They have not clipped the nails, there are mud stains which are still there after the full groom, I don’t think he has even been washed as he smells and looks the same. I have been to other groomers and can compare the quality and this is definitely 0 out of 5 stars. Do not book here.

I have no problem with Pets at Home but would advise customers to avoid this store and others at this retail park as UKPC parking control is over enthusiastic with its fines. Fining me £100 for parking on a white line. It was necessary to park this way to enable a disabled passenger to get out of the car.

We recently did the pet workshop and it was amazing! Our guide, Chloe, was a super star. The kids got to pet guinea pigs, hamsters and even a domesticated rat. Fantastic place!

I'd like to thank Grace for being one of the best advisors I've dealt with in this Pets at Home store, I was in the store 4 times last week and both times I dealt with Grace she's given absolutely outstanding customer service and needs to be given recognition for how well she represents the company brand. I had dealt with a gentleman on my 3rd visit called Manny (dark beard and dark hair) who had a careless attitude to actually helping customers, it was like we were inconveniencing him for just asking a question. He is a poor representation of the face of the company working in the store front, going back to Grace I'd hope to pop in again and see if she was given praise for her hard work and fantastic customer service skills. She is a true asset to the business and this particular store! Well done Grace and keep up the great work you do!

Excellent service and very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Some categories of items are a bit limited eg. Anti-poo and pee cat sprays and scratch posts, but a good store. Has an in-house pet groomer (though this branch doesn't do cats), and vet. Also has a click and collect service. Sometimes runs short of stock on certain popular items such as own-brand cat food items, certain brands of wood pellet cat litter etc. Join the VIP Club and get useful discounts. Lots of free parking outside.

I visited this pets at home as my local one wasn’t available. The staff were lovely despite it being hectic on a busy Sunday. However, i was absolutely mortified!!! as the asian looking manager(couldn’t catch the name) completely humiliated one of his employees right in front of me and all of the customers. I found that absolutely degrading to the employee as well as unprofessional from a business aspect and quite frankly embarrassing for the other customers to witness. Why are you airing out bullying in a store that is meant to create a positive atmosphere??? This matter could’ve been dealt with privately but the manager decided to publicly shame this said employee and i have had it up to here with toxic management and rude individuals. Would go back for the delightful staff but would be convinced to stay home as a result of completely disgusting behaviour 😑

The cashiers are usually alright and nice, but the grooming room is AWFUL. Unable to cut my dogs fur, last time they had left half of his nails uncut and gave him without drying his face. Very unprofessional, they are very rude as well, there use to be a nice one before but she is no longer there. Don't bother with the grooming room here find another place. They are meant to be trained for all types of dogs, and they aren't. They won't even groom my dog because he is apparently "aggressive" but he is just nervous and never had a haircut in the groom room because they didn't do it during lockdown or even now, one even said they couldn't cut his fur and that they need another person! On the phone, I believe I said I wanted a haircut for my dog and when we went there they didn't mention any haircut other than paws, and all we got was a bath and it was so EXPENSIVE all for just a bath and half done nails, they kept calling us too to come there because they were unable to put him in the bath one time too. I just hate that place, expensive and very rude people, doesn't do the job right either.

The customer service of the grooming staff is ridicules. After I've booked an appointment for my puppy online, I was asked to contact them by phone in order to pay the deposit ( there is no way to do it online ) . I've tried to contact this number for at least 5-8 times with no answer. On the day of the grooming session, I've received 2 phone calls , the first one at 13:30 and the second one on 15:10 ( the session were set to 16:00) from a completely different number. I couldn't pick up , and I didn't know it was them. Once I recall this number, they told me that the appointment has been canceled by them because I didn't pay the deposited. How can I pay the deposit if you never picks up the phone or allow to do so online ? . Why are you canceling an appointment less then an hour before it's time ? Absolutely ridicules , I have no idea why pets at home using their services.

I went into pets at home looking for a hamster for my niece's birthday. A member of staff named Emily helped me pick out the perfect little hamster ever. Emily is well educated on the breed told me everything i needed to know and also answered all my questions with no problem. She was very gentle transporting our new hamster from her enclosure to the travelling box. Emily is a credit to Pets at Home a star employer 5*. Pets at home had everything i needed for our new member of our family. I will definitely be going back here!

Everything that your pet could need; food, toys, treats, accessories, etc. Big shop. A grooming parlour to trim/wash your hairy dog, whilst you head off shopping elsewhere. They also sell rabbits, hamsters, rats, etc, as pets (very cute to see in the shop) but in a responsible way, vetting you as a suitable owner of such a pet. Ample (free) parking.

The staff on the whole at the frien Barnet branch are fantastic. Always really helpful and friendly. I’ve taken my dog to the groom room and it’s amazing. The girls are always friendly and overly nice. They do an amazing job I’m always happy with the way they look after my dog It’s also extremely reasonable in price.

I have adopted many animals from them over the years and most of the experience has been positive. It is a good for basics like dried/frozen food and treats but the rest, you can get pound land or ebay for a fraction of the cost. The boxes of live insects for reptiles are always half dead. Staff are hit and miss.

I Visited this pets at home store to buy a cat litter tray which was situated upstairs of the store. However when i finally found the litter trays there was notices on the top shelf saying please ask a staff member for further assistance. There was no staff members that was interested to come upstairs and assist me and my younger son. I just walked straight out of the store and was also stared up and down by a lady staff member downstairs as i was leaving and made me feel like i was stealing something. Totally not helpful at all. But again i don’t want to make a judgement on the whole company however your staff is what resembles and enables your company to grow further. Thats all i got to say

The worse representation of customer service from the grooming team ever. After a grooming session with our puppy was booked and a deposit put down by our father, we rang up the day before to rearrange because our vet had put advocate medicine on our puppy which we had no idea about. The vet advised that, we shouldn't groom her for another 5 days so we're left with no alternative but to reschedule with Pets at Home. The grooming team refused and said that we will then need to pay yet another deposit. My father disputed as he was never advised by the team regarding the cancellation or rescheduling policy. The manager Darren at Friern Barnet said he had made discretionary decisions before but on this occasion felt no compassion to do so even though we were no cancelling entirly and merely wished to push it back by 5 days as advised by our vet. Instead of being emphatic to our problem and helping us they were laughing at us. The worse customer service EVER.

Useful shop but I had a bad experience of a staff member dropping the fish I had just picked out, on the floor, then she couldn’t pick it up as her nails were too long. In the end I got the fish of the floor but it died when I went home. Useful shop but that’s really bothered me. Other staff seem nice.

A big disappointment and frustrating experience for me and my little boy today who couldn't understand Why we can't buy the fish from the store ,,Pets at Home Friern Barnet,, (because of the policy company) not selling fish to the customers who doesn't own another water tank set up with water filter for safety reasons of the fishes ) After having a chat with manager of the store explain him with my little boy wish, and ask him to be reasonable, it was still refusing to help me because of the policy. I'm very disgusted about this experience and never I will come into this place again.

Clean store, pity lots of cages had no pets to view... We loved the fish tanks, such a huge variety, although we were sad to see a couple of them had flipped over and gone to heaven.

This was our first visit to Vets for Pets inside pets at home. Our old vets had 'temporarily closed' back in February so we were left seeking a new one. Our cat is 14 years old and is usually a little stressed by visiting the vets but the vet Shannon was absolutely brilliant. She put both us and Oreo at ease, aswell as explaining everything fully. She gave him a thorough examination, his yearly jab and a worming tablet all without him moving! It was such an excellent experience for Oreo aswell as us and we will certainly be returning. I just wish we had gone there 5 years ago when we first moved to London. Highly recommend. A++++

👍👍 Lovely garden centre, everything you need and lovely gift shop. Had lunch here with family and friends, food and service were good. Some items were missing and we had to ask for them. When booking we asked for a round table with the cushioned chairs but it wasn't reserved for us, which was a bit...
