Being my first visit to Seoul (and South Korea in general), I decided to book a day-long one-on-one personalized tour of what the city has to offer. Oki from City Unscripted was my tour guide and we hit it off immediately! :) She was extremely knowledgeable about the attractions that we visited as well as the city’s history, and really knew her way around town. A few days prior to our meetup, Oki gave me some recommendations based on my feedback on what I wanted to do on our tour (places, food, etc.) and how I wanted to go about it (walking, subway, etc.), so by the time we met for the tour she had a great plan set up while still providing options for flexibility. We started the tour at my hotel, and proceeded to walk around town. Places we visited included Seoul City Hall, Gyeongbokgung Palace (where I toured in rented traditional Hanbok clothing), the Blue House (residence of past presidents), and Gwangjang Market. We ate some amazing Korean barbeque (that we cooked ourselves) at the market, where Oki gave me some helpful tips on how to eat barbecue like a local (which I eventually got the hang of). During the tour Oki also gave me a ton of recommendations on other places to visit while in Seoul (such as Bukchon Hanok Village, which I toured the day after and is awesome by the way), authentic Korean snacks (such as Hotteok, a sweet pancake filled with a sweet delicious syrup), and gift/clothing ideas (such as hats, fridge magnets, bracelets, and artwork). I also learned a couple new Korean words (such as “sugohaseyo”) and customs/habits to kind of help immerse myself in the Korean culture and environment (it seemed to work). I took a ton of pictures, and Oki helped out with taking pictures of me as well. We also took a couple of the obligatory selfies lol! My only critique is that I wish we had more time to tour the city (the time went by so fast, but that happens when you’re having too much fun), but I’ll just have to book another tour when I return to Seoul. I would definitely pick Oki to take me on another tour. Thanks Oki, hope to see you next time! :)

My family and I had an amazing trip around Tokyo. Mariana was such a great tour guide, she catered to everything we wanted to do in Harajuku and Shibuya and even recommended and did more! The tour was nicely laid out and paced in 6 hours. Even with 8 people total in the group, everyone was able to find something in the that interested them in tour. Our tour with City Unscripted was definitely a highlight of our stay in Tokyo, I would definitely recommend! And a big thank you to Mariana, she is just such a cool person, we were so happy to hang with her for the day and get to know her. :)

Roberto was amazing! We had the best time on the food tour of CDMX with him, it was one of the highlights of our stay in Mexico City. He has such great local knowledge, and the food was incredible and plentiful. Roberto is also such a great guy, friendly and fun, it was like hanging out with a good friend. We got a great introduction to authentic local food and ate at places we would never have found on our own. We loved that the experience is not prescriptive, he really tailored the experience to us. He also continued to send us local recommendations after the tour to help us have the best trip. Would highly recommend this tour. Thank you Roberto!!!

We had a fun and informative evening walking tour in Kyoto with Georgina. She worked with our interest into the planned itinerary and was very flexible with changes along the way. She kept us and even our teenager engaged. Kyoto at night was truly a magical experience!

I could not have asked for a better introduction to Mexico City than Marisol’s hosted experience. She took the time to understand what I was interested in and tailored the day accordingly. I loved that she showed me a slice of the real Mexico, always ensuring I was comfortable and safe. Her knowledge of the history and architecture of Mexico City was very impressive, and her love and passion for her hometown shone through. The highlight of the day was when she arranged for a mariachi band to serenade me on my 50th birthday! It is a memory I will keep with me always! Marisol is a wonderful human and I really enjoyed spending time with her. I hope to catch her again in Australia, where I can play host!

This tour was great! Marisol was an extra bonus, she made it possible to see all the sites we wanted to see and had great recommendations. She also provided so much insight to all the sites and was a wealth of information. I highly recommend this tour with Marisol!

I booked 8 hours tour. My guide, Oki and I had spend such a wonderful time together. She showed me around, took me to many cool places I would not have found myself, helped me to try new things, new dishes and shared lot about Korean history and culture. We had a great time and lots of photo together. Definitely recommended.

Great experience with Taiga, it was very helpful having a guide to help get around to various experiences in a timely manner and someone who understood so much local history and connection. I had various individual bits of knowledge, but having someone like Taiga who was able to tie things together and provide context, along with being able to book such memorable times like the Samurai Sword experience and the Japanese Tea Ceremony meant more than I can put into words.

Our private tour in Tokyo was amazing and very much worth the price. Our guide Camila tailored our tour to our likes and preferences and we had a great time with her. She was very knowledgeable and gave us great tips to get around the city. Even though it was raining on and off during the day we were able to see different areas of Tokyo and learn about the culture. Thank you Camila for the excellent tour of Tokyo! A must do activity!

We booked the "Eat like a local - tour" to try local food, which we hadn't decided by ourselves. Our guide Michael wrote us some days before to ask again what food we didn't like. After meeting at Grand Place we started the tour with a Belgian waffle. Then we walked a little bit away from the centre. During walking we got some information about Michael himself and Brüssel. In the first restaurant he choose two different meals for us. In the second restaurant then a third one. All three meals were very good. During eating we also had a nice conversation about all and sundry. For dessert we got some chocolates and a brownie, because we wanted something sweet. All in all the three hours went by in a flash because of good food and nice conversations. This tour is recommendable.

Kumpirada (Kat) was one of my favorite tour guides in Thailand. She is adorable, fun, extremely knowledgeable, and a great photographer! Not only did we get to enjoy the floating market with her, she extended our tour and accompanied us to the museum of Bangkok. Additionally, we only booked a walking tour and despite Kat being not a huge fan of boats, she secured a long boat ride for us. She definitely made this a memorable experience.

Martyna developed a custom tour that matched our interests. She met us where we arrived in the city and we immediately set out to see the city. Touring with her gave us the confidence to go places we wouldn’t have attempted on our own. This was so much better than any hop on/off tour. In 4 hours we saw more than we could have seen in 2 days on our own, without rushing.

Highly recommended. Easy to book online. After booking, you will receive a list of questions to share one's interest. After that step you are connected to a local guide. We were connected to Luis in Lisbon. Excellent local guide: super friendly, lot of information and most of all, relaxed and good company!!

Our tour guide Vanessa was fantastic! She curated the tour to match our interests and gave us tons of information regarding the history of the sites we went to, along with insights into modern living in Japan. She was also generally easy to talk to and had a great sense of humor. I would definitely recommend having her as a tour guide!

I have been to Rome once before, so opted for a private tour to see things that I didn’t see on my first trip some years ago. I am so glad that I did! My guide, Ugo, made the tour AMAZING! He checked in before we met and asked if there was anything in particular that I wanted to see. He tailored the experience to what I wanted to do. He’s extremely knowledgeable and fun. In addition to some history, I learned of a great place to have Piensa and even better, Tiramisu! I would absolutely do the tour again…ask for Ugo by name, you won’t be disappointed!!!

Hans was ABSOLUTELY the best. He was so friendly and knowledgeable and he made us feel comfortable from the start. He took us everywhere we wanted to go, he was so accommodating. honestly he really made this such an enjoyable trip. If I come back (which I plan to) I am definitely going to ask Hans to be our guide. We now have a friend in South Korea! 💜

Vanessa met us at our hotel on the morning of Nov.6, for our half day tour of Kyoto. We started out at the impressive Kiyomizu-dera temple complex where she expertly led us through all the beautiful sights and experiences. I especially enjoyed striking the large temple bell with a big mallet to experience the vibrations as a sort of rebirth. Vanessa navigated the large crowds & took us to the best viewpoints & photo spots. We saw gorgeous temples, beautiful fall colors, and many people out in colorful kimonos. We then headed down the hill for a view of the iconic Hokan-ji pagoda. Along the way we stopped for a yuba-cheese snack & quick shopping for high-quality pottery and kimono jackets. Next we walked to the peaceful garden at Maruyama-koen park to see more fall colors. Finally, we walked to the historic Gion quarter, to learn about geisha culture and explore the narrow, windy streets. We were lucky to even see a Maiko hurrying home. Vanessa gave us a wonderful tour of some of Kyoto’s major sights. Thank you Vanessa!

Cosmo delivered a very nice tour, taking us to all the places we had agreed to visit and teaching us how to navigate Hong Kong Transit system with the octopus card. He has a basic knowledge of Spanish and was able to communicate with us in that language most of the tour. Of course, when in doubt we switched to English. The missing start is to give him the opportunity to communicate better some of the historical background of the places we visited. At the end, he did a great job, we feel on love with Hong Kong!

Ana Maria is the most amazing tour guide, she is very knowledgeable and understands the city of London very well. She was very flexible with us on our meeting time and show us everything that we really wanted to see. She taught us how to use the tube system , how to pay and getting on off the train, which ended up being very helpful. Our main focus was to see all the beautiful Christmas lights in all the neighborhoods of London, she did a fantastic job, making sure that we got them all in. She made some great suggestions of other attractions and places to see on the rest of our trip which we used her advice many times. Thank you for a wonderful experience we would highly recommend her.

Engaging, personable, and thoroughly knowledgeable, my tour of Gion and Kyoto with Axel and City Unscripted was outstanding! I like to mix up my travel experiences but still really learn about the local culture as well as history. Axel not only was able to answer a ton of my esoteric questions about Japanese history and religion, but also explained current culture and the scene to me. I feel my trip to Kyoto was the better for this your and I do not say this lightly. Axel also really listened to what I wanted to do and know and made sure I had a great experience. This was my first booking with this company but def will not be my last!

FABULOUS tour with Massimo! Very knowledgeable about the places we were visiting - the Duomo (we walked the rooftop tour) and then through Galleria Emmanuelle to La Brera. He knows anecdotes about Milano as a city and the BEST gelatoria in town. Thank you for the memories!

Although I have been to London a few times as an adult, I decided to book a tour for my wife and kids who had never visited. It was a great decision! Our host Stuart, a born and raised Londoner, provided so much colour to our tour and told some great stories about the city. On top of showing us the essentials for first-time visitors, Stuart also arranged for some more hidden treasures along the way. He was friendly, knowledgeable and a lot of fun. The kids really enjoyed his company and felt that the tour also gave them a very good feel for the city on our first day. I recommend not only for first-time visitors but even for those who think they know the city - very enjoyable day!!

Our tour guide Patrick showed us an excellent time. He really crafted the tour to fit our interests and gave a locals perspective to a lot of questions that we had about life in Japan/Tokyo. We had our 2 year old with us and Patrick was very accommodating, helping us traverse stairs/escalators with our stroller.

Our tour was set up via email prior to our trip. We booked a 3 hour private Toronto overview city tour. Our guide, James, added everything to our tour that we wanted to see and also made suggestions of other sites to visit. James was awesome! Super knowledgeable and also flexible as we changed our minds several times about where to have lunch. He took photographs of our group and importantly, kept the pace at a comfortable level. We stopped when needed and he made sure we had good directions for our next stop after the end of the tour. I'd highly recommend City Unscripted and James!

Dominique from City Unscripted is an amazing host! We spent a day together, showing me around the most iconic spots in Naples, discussing about the local culture, customs and lifestyles. She adjusted the program and itinerary to fit perfectly to my needs. Also, she is a kind person, easy going and nice to hang with! I strongly recommend Dominique for your city explorations in Naples!

Awesome 4 hour walking tour of Singapore! Jimmy Loh and Priscilla Tok took our group of 4 on a walking tour of Singapore the morning after our arrival. I am so glad we did this tour as it was a nice introduction to the people, art, history and culture of Singapore. Jimmy and Priscilla are knowledgeable and quite pleasant to spend time with. We learned so much and the time sped by. There were photos ops and a nice video summarizing our tour sent to us by Jimmy which was a really nice touch. I highly recommend taking this walking tour.

I had an amazing time/private tour with Marisol during my stay in Mexico City. It was important for me to book our tour on my first day there so as to learn about the history and culture as well as pick up a few tips from a local on how to get around and get the most of my time there. I loved how I was able to tailor my tour and request that we focus on architecture, history, and culture. Marisol was extremely knowledgeable when showing me around the historic center. I learned so many new things about the Mexican culture—lots of things you probably wouldn’t pick up on your own or from generic travel guides. We even made time to taste authentic horchata and churros! We went at a good pace and covered everything and more in the few hours we were together that afternoon. I highly recommend Marisol! Thanks to her I had the best time in Mexico City!

We had an amazing experience to the city of Hamburg. Our guide Mr. Dave was providing so much insightful information that made our trip more memorable. He was also accommodating with my father who was in wheelchair. even after our tour was over, he provided some additional tips and info which allowed us to tour the Hamburg city a bit more on our own pace. Highly recommended for anyone looking to have a quick tour of the city

Richard was awesome! We thoroughly enjoyed our tour around London. Richard was easy going and open to whatever we wanted to do.My daughter is a big Beatles fan but we wanted to see the city as well. He made sure we saw it all! Great guide! Great experience! I highly recommend asking for Richard! Thanks for an awesome day!

We loved our tour with Ricardo. I had quite a long list of sight-seeing to visit on our 8 hour tour. We hit them all plus we were able to fill in with a couple of surprises (a custom glove shop, a delicious seafood lunch at Ramiro and a secret spot with beautiful tile). I cannot recommend Ricardo enough. We loved Lisbon and we owe that to Ricardo. Top notch!!

Wow! Our afternoon with Stefano made for a great start to our trip to Munich. While two of us had been there before, two were new to the city, and Stefano made sure the places we visited were perfect for everyone. From our walk in the English Garden to our time in the Old City, Stefano gave us an overview of Munich that had us feeling like locals in no time. Stefano tailored every aspect of our trip to suit our interests and energy levels (which was great, because we had just stepped off an overnight flight from the U.S.). But for all the charms Munich had to offer, the high point of our day was our time with Stefano himself, who proved to be a smart, elegant, caring person we felt we made a genuine connection with. Highly recommended!

We had such a wonderful time with Marco on our trip to Lake Como. He was very communicative prior to the trip about what we wanted to do and timing. He had several options depending on our interests so it was great that it was personalized to us. It was myself and my mother in law for the day and he organized the train travel and ferry schedules. He was very knowledgeable about the cities around Lake Como and had some great stories but was also so easy to talk to to pass the time on the train rides. He gave us some great recommendations for dinner and shopping we took advantage of! Would very much recommend Marco and this private experience.

Ryan was a perfect guide to get me familiar with the city and the history. We visited a church, had breakfast, climb up lots of stairs to get a BEST view of the city possible. We had lunch which was a Scottish dish called Haggis which were very yummy! Visited some shops and got to talk about the City. Ryan is a great guide and I highly recommend this young man for your adventure! He also takes GREAT pictures!

If you want to truly want to experience a city and get a true sense of the vibes, CityUnscripted is the only way. They match you with a local who treats you more like a friend than as a guide and shows you around their city. You get to see places where large tours never venture and actually feel like a part of the city. Worth every penny!

Roberto was amazing! He was so kind and caring throughout the entire day. He worked hard in advance to figure out exactly what we wanted to see and did a great job showing it all to us. The pace was perfect, we really had no problems at all. I would highly recommend Roberto to anyone considering Mexico City.

Very enthusiastic local guide. It shows how much she loves her job and her city. We went to the right places, according to the references we sent in beforehand. Daria, our guide, spoke English fluently enough, and we could see her put in the effort to quickly search a translation if she didn't know a word immediately. She told us she is a very religious person, but that didn't influence the places we visited.

  • 5/5 Eric B. 2 years ago on Google
City Unscripted and our guide Ben provided my wife and me with a unique day tour of Seoul that we would not have been able to experience on our own. City unscripted started the experience with a short survey of our interests and what we wanted out of a tour guide. Our tour guide Ben followed up by finding out where we were coming from, where the best place to meet was, and further refining what we planned to see on our tour of Seoul with Ben. Ben documented the experience with photos and videos for us throughout the trip while providing us with local knowledge of the sites we choose to visit. Ben was a great tour guide, and I would not hesitate to request his services again for another tour.
