Where do I start...... Wanted to post some shocking parking restrictions when it state that work will be taken place but yet NOTHING, NO WORK was happening. Not able to post the video and pictures but will find a way to do so... Had a parking ticket in a suspended bay but other vehicles didn't get one???????? Money making machine with petrol going out from 8 am in the car then mopeds, electric bicycle then the petrol. You enjoy those fines especially when you challenged then and those making the decision turn blind eyes. Happy New Year Islington Council, money making machine.... Here is the photo's as promised. The council and other companies agreed with maintenance but can't see any work carried out and making family with children park further away from they home/flat with shopping bags and get parking ticket but not all vehicle..... Someone work that out. I am not bitter about my ticket but someone seating on they desk should check the situation out time to time.

Terrible service. I had a problem with some neighbours (Anti-social behaviour) and despite sending multiple emails to the Council, as well as calling them to ask for some help, they have been very unresponsive and unhelpful. I've only received one reply and one call from them, and then they have disappeared again. Also, they have made some administrative mistakes. As a taxpayer who has paid the Council Tax to the Islington Council for many years, I am deeply disappointed by the non-responsiveness of the Council.

Worst public services and customer care. I'm not sure if they are doing public services or if the public is serving the council? Probably the second option with the way they behave towards the public. Utter disrespect, arrogance and an unwillingness to help. I've lived in Islington for 20 years and I have yet to see one of the works be nice and helpful. Also an inability to empathise with the public. Its like HR made sure they only hire people with an inability to help, no motivation and people that think the customer is always wrong. They act like a bunch of gansters the only time they contact you or get back to you is when they have a threat or demand money. Where does the public funding go? Surly not to the public. This place needs new management as soon as possible it's an absolute joke in there.

I’ve never experienced some incompetent communication from a council in my life. For months I’ve been trying to resolve incorrect council tax bills. I’m a student who just graduated and lived with another student who is still in education. They initially contacted me, saying my student exemption expired and had to pay full amount. This is despite them having the details of the second tenant who is in full-time education, so I should have had a single persons discount. I called, I emailed and I thought I had resolved the issue - someone said they would apply that discount for me. But I received an email charging me for the full council tax (without single person discount) when I moved out a couple of weeks ago. I contacted them by email AGAIN and haven’t heard from them. Imagine what my old flat mate got? A call from DEBT collectors asking for the full amount + additional payments DESPITE me emailing, calling and providing them with all the information and waiting for the correct bill so I can pay the correct amount.

Hypocrisy rules in this council. They pretend that they are doing everything for the residents, but in fact are pursuing their own agenda. Their road closure scheme is a joke, bordering on criminally insane. Their response to residents' requests is either non-existent or delayed to the point of being useless. There are people smoking dope all over the place and rubbish bins have pretty much disappeared from the streets. No star, if I could give that rating.

So Islington council decide to do a water pipe work the day before supposed to do as indicate in the letter that they sent me 2 days ago, they ended up blocking my pipe and left a family of 3 without water in this hot weather! so they decide that 5 hours later a pack of 6 bottle of water will be enough to spend a whole day for shower, toilet needs, sanitation, drinking, cleaning etc... I call them in the morning and the lazy woman in the phone didn't showed any consideration that a family of 3 with a kid and didnt have water just worried about that I refuse 6 bottle of water extra instead of fixing the problem properly or bringing proper amount of water to be able to shower, cleaning etc.... Once again Islington Council bringing your family and yourself to Victorian working class conditions. Well done! Not explanation when they going to comeback to fix it just they can't do it because it may be asbestos next to the Pipe so they need to send a application for a another repair team while. leaving a family of 3 without water

Atrocious and most likely highly corrupt. Troy Gallagher should be ashamed. They have repeatedly emailed saying I am in debit on council tax, although it is completely incorrect and I have all the receipts. I purposefully ensured I would get email receipts as I do not trust their website or system, which is full of bugs, not user friendly in the slightest and quite frankly dodgy. I tried repeatedly to call on top of my emails, and sat on hold for hours - they have made it a point to make it more difficult to speak to anyone. I do believe they have a relationship with a highly corrupt debt collection agency and they are making money off it. Absolutely disgusting.

They usually are a pathetic excuse for council workers. Especially the Council tax office employees: highly incompetent, bullish and lazy. I had the displeasure of getting to know them when they summoned to court by mistake, they drove me crazy only to say "sorry" in the end. Now they tried again for a few delays in paying the council tax (which I always paid). There is a reason why they have so many bad reviews. It's time that you take a good look at yourself and stop wasting our money.I hope you get a workforce restructuring.

ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF MONEY GRABBING COUNCIL - Permit resident holder for 5+ years - received a ticket outside my own property at the end of last month - I had mistakenly not renewed my annual permit, to which I rectified that same day - ticket was issued which I contested in the hope common sense would prevail as genuine mistimed mistake and would be rectified when explained.... Of course it didn't, my heartfelt email fell on deaf ears to which I was told I must pay before a certain date otherwise the fine would double. Should this be allowed??

I think they are the worst council I have dealt with. No one responds to any queries emails go ignored for weeks. Departments do not answer the phone and usually when they do the receptionists cwnt even help. The housing department is shocking even the department in place to deal with vulnerable people do nothing and never get back to you. Absolute worst

Severely gone downhill in recent years! I’ve been trying to contact Islington for 3 days now! Frustrating is an understatement. They have no compassion or understanding for their residents.

I went in for assistance only to be told by Evelyn that they don't handle it at the service centre (it doesn't say on website), she was also not helpful to suggest alternatives. She was like the "computer says no" scene from Little Britain. Her colleague Ken stepped in and offered to help even though it was not part of his job. At the end we found an alternative solution, in light of IT system problems. He deserves a raise and exemplifies the spirit of being helpful - something that is absolutely necessary for a Service Centre!

No one star option. There should be. Can someone please make a tell all programme about these people. Mystery shopper would be good. LBI customer service is non existent. 2 hrs on phone & still not one person knows their job. That’s when they do answer. 99% are rude & unhelpful. Can someone please do something about the management of this council. What is required is a residents pressure group to make them accountable. This used to be a great Borough in terms or caring for its residents. It seems no more. If you don’t believe these negative reviews, just try calling any department. But make sure you’ve at least 3 hours to waste.

You’d expect the council to be competent or at least care for its residents given how fantastic the Angel neighborhood is and the relatively high GDP per capita. However, the way the council deals with residents and inquiries is severely disappointing to say the least - it seems they only care about getting payments in without regard for explanation, clarification or helping residents understand and educate themselves. I had issues setting up a direct debit via their website which resulted in further costs. I called to try and resolve a query re council tax payments and avoid further issues. The first call resulted in a confusing email with a higher number than my original council tax bill with no breakdown as to why. I emailed twice more to seek clarification and make sure I understood everything - I was met with an autoreply email. I then called a second time after getting a text message about an urgent issue with my council tax account. I was trying to get a clarification on the maths, explanation as to what the costs were any how everything was structured for my own understanding and financial planning - especially given I had an open email thread with the council asking for clarification. Instead I got an extremely aggressive and patronising call from an employee who refused to offer help. Colin (refused to give me his last name) - the person that was on the phone - was extremely curt, kept saying his job was to apply the letter of the law and get payments, not resolve queries. He then proceeded to patronize me regarding the nature of my questions and said quote: "its a simple equation, if you feel bad about paying more money this is not my problem". I have never been so offended and angry on a call. Having lived in other boroughs of London, I must say this was by far the worst experience in dealing with a council I have ever had the displeasure of being engaged in. If you are ever planning on buying property in this area, consider the council you will be dealing with. Its a wonderful vibrant neighborhood when it comes to local businesses, schools, etc. but the council is notably lacking. By the looks of all the google reviews, they don't seem to want to improve or receive feedback either. PS: Don't ever think you'll get on the phone with anyone in the council on a Friday after 12, despite their opening hours being 9am to 5pm, in my experience calling after 12 results in *hours* on hold.

Islington is a great place to live, one of the best boroughs in London. The customer centre at Islington council is welcoming and informative. I noticed everyone says hello to each other. It is great to see so many people from diverse backgrounds working there. I love the high street with the array of shops, restaurants, pubs and even karaoke! Streets are always clean.

I’ve had several issues with the repair team in the past. They don’t give you a way to communicate directly with them and you need to use switchboards. Operators on the phone don’t write down a lot of details, get confused often and don’t send the right people - creating more calls and weeks of delay because you can’t contact directly. The contractors or “operators” do quick jobs most of the time and often try to cut corners. I had to raise a for a complaint but the handling of it was badly conducted, didn’t care about the impact on the people living there and took a 34 month battle to get something fixed. They often don’t provide direct email addresses or direct phone numbers and work on a call back system. If you miss them or can’t understand the number on the voicemail because they said it quickly, you’ve just lost your opportunity and you’re back to square 1 trying to make contact. If they mess up, they also casually try to ignore the lack of response. Not good enough. Complaint are handled on a separate phone number too, so to raise a complaint you need to call another switchboard. I can’t imagine a lot of people going through that effort, after they’ve just struggled with the first switchboard and waited on the phone for 30 min, so I think it artificially reduces complaint statistics. Feedback: 1- Go back to basics. Offer a lead coordinator for your repair/complaint/case. Provide direct contact via phone and email. 2- Give service level agreements to ensure they provide good response times and manage workloads. 3 - Ensure your operators get things done correctly, provide good customer services and quality control. Had you gotten it right the first time, you probably won’t have to deal with my 20 calls over the next 10 months or so. You think you’re making it easier by cutting a few corners but you’re tripling the work and annoying the customers. 4- Provide a complaint facilities and opportunity for resolution on the same call. Don’t use switchboards or long transfer times. This will save you a lot time and effort fending off complaints. Overall, their entire system needs an overhaul. I’ve lived in Islington for 30 years and it wasn’t always like this, before it worked better, but they changed this system maybe 5? Years ago. You need to remodel your system, it’s currently inefficient, poor, impersonal and frustrating.

During Covid they failed to process a student council tax exemption. Despite multiple calls and letters they resorted to sending hired thugs to my mothers house who threaten to take away her car over £300. Deeply unprofessional and the worst local authority I’ve ever been forced to deal with.

Abit sad, Went to work, paid for parking and manager told me that I wasn't needed at work today due to slow day. Called ringgo and was told that there's a higher chance of me getting my refund back if I paid at a different location and report that I paid twice for parking. I did that and now Islington council decided to decline my refund and swallowed money from both parking sessions. Trash !!!!! Another time is when I requested for a cctv footage on a street parking as my vehicle was in a hit-and-run accident and that the congestion zone cameras were in the perfect angle to record the other car's number plate. Islington council decided to decline me and told me that it's not their problem. Because of their very kind decision, I have to pay for the excess in the insurance since the car could not be identified. THANK YOU FOR LOOKING AFTER YOUR RESIDENTS!!!!

It I can give 0 stars I would. You call for the simplest enquiry and you get put through to different departments every-time someone answers. After two hours and being put through to different department 5 times I gave up! No one has a clue what they are doing, I am surprised they still function as a council! Serious measures need to be taken, training needs to be given, and make your telephone options clearer!!!! Awful service

Most unimpressed with the repairs team recently. I was asked to make contact with the repairs team regarding a roof leak affecting upstairs tenant. My first call was answered by a member of staff who seemed to be helpful. While she tried to sort out my query we got cut off after 10 minutes. As a result, I attempted to call back. However, the second call I made was picked up by a male staff who kept me on hold for longer than 5 minutes after my explanation of my first call and did not come back. Hence, I tried calling back the third time which was picked up by black female staff who kept me on hold for more than 5 minutes without explaining why. I then followed up by ringing back for the fourth and fifth time, but curiously, the calls were picked up but no one seemed to want to acknowledge my call at the other end even though I kept saying 'hello' to make contact it simply stayed silent. I thought I would attempt my sixth time to call the repair team back, but I drew a complete blank. It sounds ironic that each time one makes a call to the council, the same recorded message would keep saying that how important your call is, and which will be monitored. Seriously? Certainly, not the way I was made to endure the experience I had. How this service is being run can only tell me one thing that the council is found wanting for employing staff with such unhelpful attitude and incompetence. There is definitely room for improvement. From the Islington community's point of view, we deserve a better service without hassle.

6 months on and I'm still waiting for neighbours upstairs to stop making noises which are difficult to sleep through. Council has classified it as none ASB though no night-time inspection was taken place, only a day inspection. No resolution. Mental health is being impacted severely. Council tenants wellbeing is being prioritised over leaseholders who pay council tax and service charge to be able to rely in support from the council and out of hours antisocial behaviour team. Praying for a resolution as I give up on the council's genuine desire to help.

I am forced to give 1 star as it wont allow me to do none. Islington Council do not care aboit their tennats and custoner service is non existant. I have been waiting 3 months for my roof to be repaired and everytime I call they just keep giving excuses & say we have emailed the roofing team. Latest excuse us they need to check the scaffholding is safe and that's been 4 weeks. you cannot speak to a manager & they don't even bother to call you back. Despite the fact it is getting worse & leaking into my neighbour everytime it rains they just don't care.

Being addressed as dear customer does not sit well with me when I didn’t buy anything from you! Parking ticket I have appealed twice for helping an elderly aunty with stage 4 COPD! I had to get her to her asthma pump on the 7th floor and get the disabled badge to put on car, I took her up get her pump and stable and got her bandage to bring down I had got a ticket and appealed it but even tho I have stated how suicidal I am and why I took 1 min longer then the 5 min leeway they gave me! When I appealed I was sent a suicide help line guide but still would have to pay the ticket! I am not paying! If I die Islington council is to blame Zoe Kesall and Rebecca Keen! I’m severely depressed I have explained desperately that I can’t afford to pay this especially when I was trying to help someone live!!! I have sent proof of the disability badge and the lady is currently in Whittington hospital with pneumonia if they want to confirm!

Got landed with 400 pounds worth of fines for an LTN - the only reason I even used that road was because the council suspended the parking in my road at short notice! I appealed and they told me they would double my fine I lost the appeal. That makes a mockery of the appeals process and it is an unnecessarily aggressive way to treat the people who pay their wages. They seem to forget they’re here to serve the community. Do they not appreciate we’re living through a cost of living crisis? And where is the money going? It’s not into fixing the potholes in my road that’s for sure. Glad the councillor’s road where they’re enforcing the LTN is quieter though!

Personally all staff at the council that I have dealt with in the housing department have been very helpful and also polite so I don’t understand complaints. I think the borough council has its residents’ interests at heart and I feel safer because of that.

The most inept and inefficiently-run Council I've experienced in London. Operationally, the institution is a complete mess. In order to improve, they need to provide feedback channels that someone can use to instruct meaningful improvements, but it seems like they really just don't care.

Absolutely rubbish council, they should all be sent in prison for ripping people off.I am a taxi driver and picked up a disabled 80 years old woman from hospital, and dropped her on St George's Street, where she lives, but only permit holders can enter.Obviously i did noticed that, but there were no other routes to reach her house. They sent me the penalty,i did provided them with all the details of my trip, requested time, dropp off time and everything and explained that the poor woman wasn't able to walk but only with wheelchair and she is in her 80's.The answer i got from them was 'you should have let your passengers walk to their house' and that my penalty of 65£ will stand.Paid the penalty, but wow, that is disgusting.Andrew Deakins the name of this heartless human being that told me that. Evil people, evil council.

no words, waiting time is 1h + on the phone, especially when it comes to repair team... waiting time is couple of months up to a year to resolve anything, to fix anything, they schedule the appointment and sometimes never show up, we have a raw sewage coming up in the kitchen sink which is a health hazard and nobody is available le to fix it with an urgent matter... I am just speechless how unprofessional and disappointing it is.
