I visited Loop a few days ago for the first time. I had always wanted to go and buy yarn there as it Is quite famous in the yarn community. Coming from quite a way away just for the day, I was so excited to be finally able to get to Loop and see what it was all about and treat myself. Despite my jolly attitude , there was not much of a welcome, not much of an acknowledgment or happy attitude about yarn and knitting which is what I expected. The sales lady that closely?! followed me upstairs what a bit helpful but the rest of the staff didn’t seem either excited to sell or help or talk/ engage with the customer . I did feel a bit spied on and it’s really a bit shocking…I did get some yarn but I am so sad that the shop experience did not meet my expectations. Yarn selling deserves people who are passionate and outgoing and I definitely did not see that there. I don’t think I will shop there again, sadly.

I was in Islington for lunch and happened to realise Loop was nearby. Once I walked in, I was amazed - and then I found out there is more selection upstairs and was further amazed. The selection of yarn is one of the best I have seen in London and my life so far. They have a great selection of well-known yarn produced from different countries. Wool, silk, cotton, mohair etc…The upstairs space also seems as a cosy space to flick through the pattern catalogues they have available or be enthralled by their yarn selection and process the beauty of it all. Unfortunately, I couldn’t buy anything due to lack of luggage space. I will come back again and buy yarn!

My rating mostly reflects my preferences and experience after going there three times. I imagine that people with an unlimited budget would rate this store much higher. However for me their selection, although beautiful and luxurious, was mostly out of my preferred price range. This is mostly due to the abundance of hand dyed yarns on offer many over the £25 mark per skein, which in my Australian $ would cost near to $50. That is one expensive pair of socks or a very expensive garment. They do have quite a good range of knitting needles, although they are very difficult to shop as they are tightly packed into baskets that one needs to sort through in a squatting position as they are positioned low and there is very little space to set them higher for more comfort. Experience tells me though that their prices for needles is lower than many other places in London. My shopping experience regarding customer service was varied. While a couple of the younger staff were very helpful, friendly and patient I also encountered a couple of other staff members who came across as quite impatient and too be busy to be helpful to me.

When I first set foot in Loop, I was a beginner buying the softest chunky yarn I could find for some Christmas stockings, confident off the fact that I once knit a square in high school. Since then, I've fallen in love with the joy that overwhelms as soon as one crosses the threshold to find the most gorgeous fibres from across the world, and—against my better judgment-cum-skill level—constantly return to acquire supplies for my ever-expanding repertoire of projects. Loop's staff are happy to commiserate knitting failures and celebrate your successes, and have a chat about technique if the store isn't so busy. A lovely place full of lovely people. (And, reader: I did make the stockings.)

Lovely little yarn store, super cute with large range in a great little street/lane. Very helpful and friendly staff, lots of knitted up samples to inspire you. Quite a few hand dyed ranges plus other specialty yarns/threads you could mix into your knitting. Knitters little paradise, dangerous for the wallet but well worth a visit if you’re travelling-and a no-brainer to visit if you live here!

A throve. A heavenly stairs into hand dyed silky mohairs. Perfect place to meditate and find your inner peace. Alongside with several projects. And the names the yarns have.... I shall be back! 12 stars out of 5. PS I went back. And oh shall I be back again!!!

The overpricing per ONE skein reaches £10. I haven’t been there for a while, and todays visit was quite shocking- £38 per merino skein? Because it’s hand-dyed? One skein they advertise for £35 I bought in the same shade from the craftsmen website for £15 on the same day. So if you would like to support the small businesses- please buy the yarn directly. This shop has gone mad, very sad

I love this shop set in cosy Camden Passage. Wonderful selections of wools & tools & accessories; friendly, incredibly helpful staff; online is also an option, but I love when I can actually go into a shop to see & touch yarn and consult with the professionals who work there. Truly a pleasure.

What a beautiful shop! So many different yarns at different price points, endless notions, not to mention extremely friendly and helpful staff. I was so pleased to find Ito yarn as well - it's been on my list to try for a while!

This was the friendliest and warmest experience I was able to make in London. I'm not good at knitting, but here I feel like trying it again. The prices are not cheap, but completely adequate. The goods are amazing and the choice is incredible. But most of all, this shop impresses with its employees. Everyone is passionate, likes to do what he/she does and you can feel the fun. Here you have to go, if you understand only a little of haberdashery. What a great experience.

Unfortunately I felt very unwelcomed and uncomfortable when I visited Loop. I went in on a Thursday and there were three staff in the shop. They did not even acknowledge that I was there, not to mention to offer any help. The shop is small so they definitely saw me. It was probably the most unwelcomed I have ever felt in a yarn shop. Despite a good location and a good selection of yarns, the atmosphere prevents me from going back agin.

Lovely little yarn shop in Central(ish) London. They have yarns I haven't seen in person before, so was great to experience them first hand. I finally got to see most of the hand-dyed and American yarns I keep seeing and hearing about in podcasts!! The staff were really friendly, lovely and chill as well. Overall, I'd recommend a visit if you're ever around.

Super cute shop, but also super pricey...!! There are rare yarns you don't find in other shops. Lots of tools are available either. The shop was very busy so I couldn't go upstairs.

Lovely fibre shop in Islington. Located in the tucked-away area of Camden Passage, making this a fabulous stop amongst the antiques and boutiques. The shop itself is very sweet with a pretty good selection of yarns given its size. They have a lot of great pattern books and single patterns. Lots of embroidery thread available as well.

Was very excited to visit but ultimately disappointed. Store very pretty but was busy and felt crowded. I was completely ignored despite a member of staff upstairs asking everyone else if they needed help. I actually made a point of walking past her twice just to see if she would speak to me. Nope. She spoke to the lady next to me though.. I just didn’t get a very welcoming vibe from the staff at all… I didn’t feel comfortable and left after about 10mins. Gave 2 stars simply because the shop is beautiful. I’m all about second chances so I might return at a quieter time and hopefully have a better experience.

Very unhelpful staff. Announced myself as a complete beginner expecting enough help to leave a bit more confident starting my sewing journey. But no, completely unwilling to engage, pointed me in the general direction of the wool I needed. Didn’t explain about needle sizes or tension or even basics like rolling the yarn into a ball. These are details that beginners need! Please guide them more closely when they ask for help. It’s shocking how little interest you have shown me when I made it clear I was out of my depth and needed help

An absolutely amazing online shop. I hope to visit the shop in person sometime. An excellent, user-friendly website, with very accurate yarn photos and great scrolling menus. The service is very efficient, and the yarn is phenomenal. I’m very impressed, and I highly recommend checking out the site. Thank you so much, looking forward to the next time I have an excuse to look for wool!

Gorgeous yarn store, with an amazing choice of colour and texture and some classy patterns. The staff are knowledgeable and I received some good advice about interchangeable needles. I only wish I lived nearer.

Lovely, cozy store with a lot of yarn choices. There’s always someone who’ll help. A bit pricy…

Visited the shop today with a friend. Very friendly staff ready to help and a wide variety of yarns and anything else that you might need for different knitting projects. Everything seemed high quality and for all budgets. I'm a beginner and got myself a nice kit and some needles!

Lovely shop with great selection of yarn. However my experience have been somewhat soured on the last visit. I was after the book which went on sale on loop website. As it had many in stock I thought Ill pick it up when im in the area in few weeks time. Got to the shop, got the book with the reduced price still labeled on most of them just to find out that I was being charged the full price. The sales assisstant explained it has been mistake someone mislabed them all and didnt correct it, the website went back to the original price as well which I coulnt afford. Well I understand mistakes happen but still it was dissapointing as I was really looking forward getting it.

I went to Loop as a crochet beginner, and was met by the friendliest staff, who was enthusiastic about teaching me all I need to know to get started. I couldn’t have had a better experience. Trying something new is always intimidating but the people at Loop made me feel so comfortable and definitely knew what they were talking about. The store in itself is very well kept and is yarn-heaven. Even the other clients were very sweet amongst each other. I will definitely be coming back or ordering online when I move away from London. Highly recommend!

Very nice wool shop in Camden. You can find any type of wool of very good quality, just a little bit expensive. Otherwise big choice of wool and patterns. Just bought some Alpaca to knit a jacquard… Last year I did a jumper with mohair from this shop.

Really quaint place filled to the brim with yarn and accessories. I'd try to go when it's not busy as it is a small shop. The staff were helpful and informed on the products. The selections available covered all price points. But mainly mid to high, so be prepared to drop some coins. Overall really loved coming here and will do again 😀

My personal heaven that i always go back to. Somewhat on the expensive side, but then again, they have Everything for all projects, in all colours. The staff is super kind. On one occasion i felt a bit faint, so i was offered a chair, glass of water and they evennpanned a fan towards me

My go to yarn store. I even just pop in just to soak up the wonderful array of yarns, gifts and various bits! Staff super friendly and accommodating.

Very underwhelming. The staff don't seem to want to engage with the customer. To say it's a knitting/Crocheting shop, you can't buy the patterns for most if not all the finished items on display. Not much use for crafter but if you want to show off something you purchased, not made, it's great.
