I have been to this place many times.. I'm an urban explorer, and love the fact that this is a disused train station covered and hidden by nature.. it is so beautiful!! However, there is an eerie/dark feel that I picked up on (this actually made me come back with my spirit box on many occasions).. these woods are definitely haunted by the souls that were lost here 🖤

A beautiful green space in busy South East London. The wood is a great place for exploring, walking and a haven for dog 🐶 walkers. I was told by a passing couple that it's really popular with art/fashion students too.

A great place to go an a little adventure. It's not huge, I usually do 2 loops and then the dog is tired. There is always a gaggle of kids exploring and climbing trees. It gets very muddy when wet and wellies are essential. Great wildlife and lovely birds, especially during bird romance season.

Daily dog walking spot. Absolutely lovely place that makes you feel like you aren’t in London. Volunteers maintain the paths brilliantly.

Nature reserve established on remnant ancient woodlands managed by the redoubtable London Wildlife Trust. Contours and stepped inclines over maintained pathway through woodland flora where the exceptional level of professional intervention and maintenance is abundantly evident. The tree-lined Cox’s walk and the picturesque footbridge, the location where artist Camille Pissarro painted the station setting in 1871, among the highlights here. Unlike many “similar” remnant woodland areas within Greater London where mostly undergrowth diversity is largely compromised by “nutrient enrichment”, erosion and “trampling” here, even to the untrammelled eye, the surroundings bears witness to astute management and commitment. Now…. do yourself a favour. Essential London.

One of south London's hidden gems. This wood is part of the ancient Great North Wood and is cared for by the London Wildlife Trust. Lots of different areas to wander and get lost in on a lovely walk. Seek it out.

It's one of those walks you don't expect, but it isn't surprised considering all the great hidden gems in London. Ideal for a nice walk, within a setting that is easy to access, as you get to the top, you get a nice city skyline view in-between the woodland. Great for dog walkers, runners and children to explore. To access you can from the bottom at Cox walk or the top nearer to Crystal palace, it's next to the next golf course, and it's a beautiful green spot too. Would recommend going when it's dryer and if it's wet, make sure to have a solid pair of walking shoes; you can park at the top end of the location, but it isn't', particularly near a train station, which in a way makes a bit more exclusive and harder to reach if just on foot. Well worth a visit, though, and a trip to the pub after or a Sunday roast. Solid A***** LDT x

Lovely scape into the nature in the middle of the city. A good place to go with friends, family or go for a walk with your dog.

Absolutely amazing woodlands that just gets you back into nature lots of trails and exploring opportunities for your little ones. Sadly there are no picnic benches and no public toilets but if you don't mind having a picnic either on the floor or on a old fallen tree then you will love the Woods. There are plenty of homemade dens and or shelters to find or create yourself plus there is a old folly to find and read about.

Another of South East London Green spaces. A contained woodland with mature trees. Pathways have taken a bit of a beating with the amount of foot traffic. This is understandable as we are still in the froes of lock down. The upside of the pandemic, the time I and my family have had to explore.

Love Sydenham Hill Wood - have brought the kids here to stretch legs since toddlers - and they still enjoy it.

A beautiful fairy tale forest, you’d never know central London is just a few miles away! Gorgeous for some green freshness and peace and quiet. Decent for trail running as well as exploring or dog walking

Love going on this walk to gather my thoughts and enjoy some easy but intense exercise. Really beautiful and probably safe alone but as a woman I advise not going alone during the colder months as it is pretty secluded.

Very pretty little wood. The local area is nice to see too.

A pretty short yet serene walk. A lot of families come to walk their dogs, so it's clearly not so hidden. A must visit if you'd like a get away to clear your thoughts in middle of London or even enjoy listening to birds chirping. Wouldn't really recommend on a rainy day as it can get quite slippery.

Easy to reach on public transport and close to Dulwich Park. Great place to jog and walk dogs. Busy over the weekend but it’s still a bit of green and away from the busy roads!!! A bliss in London!!!!

A beautiful place to go on a sunny Autumn day. There is some interesting information on boards about the history of the woods, and you can go along the route of the former Crystal Palace high level railway.
