We went to Homebase on a Sunday and were pleasantly surprised. The store wasn't too crowded and we managed to find what we were looking for pretty quickly; in this case paint, painting materials and a large plant pot. The checkouts weren't too busy so we didn't have to queue for long.

The worse customer service experience. I had a click and collect order that should've been ready within an hour. I got there and made to wait 30 minutes for 2 paint pots that were available 2 aisles down from where I was waiting! The employees had time for a nice chin-wag between themselves though. Grabbed what I needed myself and did the job for them. One of the employees even suggested that I pay for the paint pots I grabbed and get a refund for the same ones ordered as I stood at the till! Really? And wait 5 working days for my account to be credited? Waste of my time.

There are a couple of reviews just below that I wish I had seen before I tried to click and collect from this store. The item was in stock at every other London store, so should have been quick and easy to shuttle it to their other store. Well, it may have been but they do not notify me when the item is ready, plus they don't answer the store phone, ever. So, 2-3 times I called Homebase main number for updates. Then finally I got a text updating me about 48 hours later. And this came at 4.30pm with a 6pm closing time. I live quite far, I cycled hard as I could but arrived maybe 6.05. A manager at the door refused to get my item, even tho I didn't need to come in, I had already paid, I had my ID and receipt, I was not insistent, I just asked for little favour. No flexibility. And now, the reason I am writing this now is because suddenly today, on google and homebase the opening hours have changed to 7pm on thurs which is an insult because I would have been on time. And I say all this as a secret fan of Homebase. I like to buy there instead of online or no-browsing catalogue shops. Sadly, it's rare that Homebase outdo competitors these days (whether on price, stock, hours, convenience).

20 July 2022, 09:50 Purchased a gazebo from your STREATHAM VALE store. The Gazebo cost £230.00. I discovered the frame work had a crack in it. I boxed it back up and returned it back to the store with the receipt. The cashier spoke to the manager who told her to give me another one. I told the cashier that I wanted a refund. The manger sent a message via the cashier and I was told that he was busy and that I would have to wait 10 minutes. The manager eventually met me at the front of the store and said to me he was not willing to give me a refund despite me having the receipt and original box. He then told me to walk around the store to look to see if there was anything else I wanted….still adamant that a refund was out the question. The store manger then said he was prepared to give £230 gift voucher but not a refund. I was forced to accept it instead of a refund. I wanted to use the money to replace the gazebo but you had no suitable ones in your store. Despite having the gift voucher I still want a refund….that I am free to spend where I wanted. The manger also subjected me to a series of “catch you out” questions that was humiliating to say the least. I am asking for a full refund back to my debit card. I am happy to return the unused gift card to the store.

They have bad stock control. Don't click and collect from here. High chance your item isn't actually in stock. It wasn't just me. Another customer there had half his items out of stock for click and collect! Despite showing as available online. Also I had a sneaky staff who picked the wrong item that wasn't actually in stock, and pretended that it was the right item! To be fair the manager and other staff were good to refund promptly. But that means I'm missing a crucial one item for my garden project. Now have to spend another hour getting to another homebase.

I only gave this place two stars because Gill was really helpful and lovely. But this store is severely understaffed and apart from Gill no one really seems to want to even be there, let alone help customers. I’ve called this store 20+ times with no answer for basic queries. It’s a joke. I wouldn’t waste your time here, try another branch.

This store is mediocre and it is consistently under-stocked. The shelves are generally always messy. The range is hit and miss. I'm not sure if it is just the Streatham branch or nationwide but Homebase appears to be suffering something of an identity crisis, and doesn't seem to know if it's a garden centre, hardware store, kitchen / bathroom showroom or a homeware shop. It does all of these things badly. The staff are also unhelpful to boot. But it's local, and good for BOGOF compost.

A giant Homebase catering for all stuff you need to furnish, paint or restyle your home. Staff are very helpful and go the extra mile to get what you need. Highly recommended.

Lots of DIY stuff, although their stock seems a bit hit-and-miss in terms of what you would expect a DIY shop to have. We were looking for a bidet attachment for a toilet for my elderly mother-in-law, but the French guy in the bathroom department wasn't very friendly or helpful.

Excellent experience today at Homebase. I was able to check the item in store before I went. Had great customer service from the ladies at the till and from the kind gentlemen who carried my item to my car. Its not always easy to find this level of service. Thank you.

One of the more attractive Homebase stores with decent stock levels. BUT there's always a big queue at the tills, or till, because they usually only have one open. Checkout woman thinks nothing of getting up and walking away, leaving half a dozen customers wondering what's happening. Or maybe just thinks nothing, ever.

Staff really helpful especially as I couldn't lift the bags of sand I needed as they were too heavy for me to lift - 25 kg bags - a bit too much for an elderly (but young at heart) 72 year old woman!!!

Very helpful and friendly staff. I did order on line and picked in the store paints and happy for this product.

Amazing service by Julio Brazilian guy and Christina who went above and beyond to ensure that they found the wood that I needed as the store was showing 18. However they were located in the incorrect place. Thank you guys for exquisite service and attention to detail, it was really appreciated..

As helpful as the assistant was in finding my cluck and collect toolbox, it seems she found any old rubbish from the stock room (didn't check in my haste) which was covered in dust and scratches. I didn't care (it's a toolbox), but when I got home I realised it was also missing a clasp. Now I need to go back and get a brach to replace it. Not impressed.

A good selection of goods but vastly understaffed. Difficult to get help or advice.

The person did not have much knowledge in the kitchen department, didnt have a great experience 😒.

  • 3/5 Robert T. 8 months ago on Google
Had to wait a while for click and collect but that was mainly due to only one staff member available and someone trying to collect xmas ornaments in July. The store itself looks dated but i think that is just Homebase's aesthetic

I arrived 8 minutes before the shop was due to close and the doors were already locked. I had to explain to the guard that I was returning something . He spoke to the person on the till and only after this he allowed me in to complete my return. The member of staff was in a hurry to complete my refund so she could go home as soon as all customers had left the shop. The security guard left the shop directly at 8.00pm as he also boarded the same bus as me. I have never not been able to enter a shop 8 minutes before closing time before and worried that I could have had a wasted journey.

Decent little homebase, you'll find most items your after although the indoor pot section could be better but that's true of most places. It always feels a little bit chaotic in there with loads of seasonal stuff crammed into the section on the left but I gather that's due to the size of the building and stockroom space. Staff are friendly and helpful if you ask questions.

Staff were helpful in pointing out what type of soil we needed! Bloody foxes dug a hole in our garden!!

Terrible old lady works there. Trying to hire Rug Doctor, website said I need Photo ID only. She didn’t accept it because it was on address outside London, gave her passport. Still no good. Provide her with digital copy of tenant agreement, payslip, bank statement. Still wasn’t happy. She didn’t hire me the rug cleaner. Demanded paper copy of utility bill. Time waster.

good and beautiful Christmas decoration items, average prices in general, I didn't find some garden products I was looking for, like stones and grasses (I only found one type of each that wasn't what I was looking for)

  • 4/5 John-george N. 1 year ago on Google
It would have got five as I often can get what I need, but not a broom in sight. Was absolutely heartbreaking. Bought a dustpan and brush, but just not what I needed. Got a great Christmas tree though!

  • 5/5 Anita T. 1 year ago on Google
Cheapest Xmas trees in town. I bought an 8 foot one for £47! Great quality too, beautiful and even tree.

Cancelled click and collect before arriving, despite arriving as stated on the order confirmation. I even called in the morning to ensure it was in the store, and the staff member confirmed. When I was informed it was cancelled after travelling to the store, store personnel were very rude and tried to blame me for their mistake. 0 stars.

To the staff at Homebase, you do realise your job role involves customer service? Why work somewhere where you have no interest to help out your customers. One of the younger male staff at the tills (which were not busy) couldn’t be bothered to help me find a specific item and instead gave me a vague idea of where it could be in the store. This branch has really gone downhill, and to the managers, sort your staff out.

Homebase local hardware store has a good variety of home improvement items. I found there seems to not restock frequently most of the time the shelf are half empty. I think the garden area makes up for it as they have a beautiful range.

I love this homebase it's local to my family so I always pop in when I'm in London. There's usually a bargain to be found always stuff reduced. There's one lady who's worked there years and seems to be run off her feet as short staffed or appeared to be on this day. Always well stocked and happy to assist you. Has improved a lot since the covid epidemic, a lot cleaner, brighter and no loose cats everywhere.

What a lovely shopping experience staff were happy and welcoming, plants in garden centre were well looked after, looking forward to a return trip, keep up the happy vibe you have there

  • 4/5 Natinho L. 2 years ago on Google
It is a big store. Plenty of summer plants for sale. I was disappointed to learn that there were no toilets available despite the cut off location. Be aware of Homebase parking restrictions on returning, if you decide you forgot to buy something. The staff was very pleasant, but couldn't find most of my shopping items. It seems you have more chances to buy online and get them delivered to the store. As long as you come along to collect them.

  • 2/5 Radeyah Y. 2 years ago on Google
Dingy and dark store. Not pleasant to walk through. Most of the plants are dead or dying, clearly the staff can't look after them.

Great for your bits and pieces. It's local has a good variety of items for decorating the home. COVID safety measures are in place.

Homebase is hard to describe... it is a store that carries a large selection in a very boring way. Goods are there but have to be sought out - it is almost as if they have been deliberately hidden. Displays are bland and unexciting, like a single person who has put on dowdy clothes to hide any attractiveness. The impression is very dingey like it desperately needs a makeover but just can't be bothered. Stock is hit-and-miss, online the stock is there but in person it cannot be found. The overall confused sense of the shop is reflected in the staff. Some staff are really helpful whilst others give the impression that they would enjoy their jobs if it wasn't for the annoyance of customers interrupting their conversations. Bottom line is that shopping at Homebase is a hit-and-miss affair and it is reflected in the non-committal 3-star rating. Summed up in one word... bland.

Happy they're still there. They have many products but no longer stock the Dulux Light and Space paint range. Website shows that it does the paint. Maybe only online and then delivery fee on top. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I think better to call the store for stock availability before making the journey.

Very rude customer service- a colleague called Kristy was very very rude to us on our shopping journey at Homebase. I don’t think just us, it was every other customer. She literally has no manners whatsoever and kept telling us to move backwards. She didn’t even a mask but kept telling us to move and move. Very bad! Also we told her repeatedly that a product we saw was on offer for 2 for £8.50 but she didn’t want to go and see the product on display. Instead she was checking online instead of checking what’s on their store.
