I started at BSY in January 2023, and have loved attending regularly. It’s worth buying the affordable monthly pass and going to as many classes to get the feel for it, and you are not tied in to subscriptions, meaning you can dip in and out as you feel like. The instructors are superb, the atmosphere fantastic, and if you don’t have a yoga mat fear not as the studio provides their own but you are welcome to store your own there. My favourites are the partner classes, hot yoga and the weekend warriors. The clientele are eclectic and diverse. BSY is an oasis in bustling Soho and is increasingly becoming a big part of my life. And my god, do you feel fantastic afterwards!

Having been a yoga sceptic for many years, I started doing Conleth Kane’s weekly hot yoga session at Brewer Street in mid-July. And challenging though it is, I’m really enjoying it. I’m continuing to do 2-3 sessions a week at the gym too, and the yoga’s by far the tougher workout. Stretching and toning parts of me I didn’t know existed… The studio attracts a lovely bunch of guys, too, and provides a surprising oasis of calm right in the heart of Soho. A great discovery!

Brewer Street Yoga is the perfect studio if you are looking for intimate men only classes. All the yoga teachers are super friendly, thoughtful and committed to providing great instruction for all Yoga levels. Due to the small class sizes instructors are able to provide one on one instruction (with hands on if you are OK with that) which I really appreciate. I have enjoyed excellent instruction in the classes that I have taken and benefitted from the lovely community-like environment.

With an incredibly warm and sincere welcome, any fears or worries disappeared very quickly at my first session with Matthew. The classes are small, which really helps to make the atmosphere chilled and friendly. With super clear instructions, positive support and encouragement, the classes are great for beginners as well as providing a ‘stretch’ for experienced yogis.

Brewer Street Yoga is far more then a yoga and fitness studio, it’s a community in the heart of soho and beyond. Matthew and the rest of teachers are fantastic and as a complete novice, they have taught me so much while also making the classes work for people of all abilities. It’s a safe a inclusive space, where people care about each other and you can be yourself.

Friendly, professional, really well organised and always a great workout, whatever your level of ability. I first went to one of Matthew’s classes back when they were being run in Vauxhall and rediscovered them (online) during the first COVID lockdown. It’s great to see him grow his business and open up a studio in Brewer St, and take on more instructors too. Everyone is made to feel very welcome, which is exactly how it should be. A lot of thought has been put into the studio – down to things such as a professional camera/mic/tech setup for zoom classes (using skills from his previous career!) and sensible COVID measures for those attending in person. Looking forward to going on my first retreat later in the year!

Great space to practice yoga in a nourishing and caring environment! Love the camaraderie amongst the practitioners. A big shout out to the über-generous teachers who cover a wide range of styles. There is something for everybody. Patrick

Not been to a yoga class before, so happy I chose the Big Boy Yoga one to go to! Matt articulated the instructions very clearly and I followed them fine!! Really felt the strength and flexibility training with the yoga stretches! Defo would go again!

Jumped into the yoga scene in March 2023, and Brewer Street Yoga (BSY) became my yoga playground. Went in with zero expectations, and man, it's been a riot ever since! Not just because the yoga's awesome, but the whole crew is just super cool, creating this vibe where you can't help but want to be part of the community. Monday nights, Conleth Kane's Bikram Class is the one I continously go to the most —it's like a workout party with a lot of Zen. Conleth breaks down the poses like a rockstar and aligns my poses with kindness, zero judgment. For a yoga rookie like me, that student-teacher bond is the secret sauce. It really helped me commit to yoga and now I can see changes in my physical and mental health :)

i was lucky enough to find this great community at the start of the first lockdown when my yoga class closed in Bournemouth , at a time when we were all missing out on so much Mathew and all the instructors made a huge effort to bring amazing classes via zoom into my home. I can honestly say it was a life line and something i really enjoyed. The caring community Mathew and the others have created in this group is just fantastic especially if you are single. im not single but the guys just pull you into so much positivity that its lovely to have been part of this. The level of teaching and variety of classes is also very exciting and something for most who enjoy yoga.I still have not managed to get to a studio class but friends who have all say its a very happy place to be. i have been doing yoga now 6 years and this is a very good setup with people who care that you enjoy the experience.

I became fascinated by yoga when as a small child in the early 1970s I used to love watching Richard Hittlemans Yoga TV show. Richards book is one of my oldest possessions. I discovered Matthew Goughs wonderful yoga school over 3 years ago by using the dry cleaner next door and I feel that's destiny at its best. Matthew once shared with me that he considered being a Priest in his youth. Well that may have not happened but what Matthew has done is created a wonderful environment that celebrates the dance of life that is yoga. It can be a lonely life at times being a gay man, especially if you have not been so fortunate to find "The One." Matthew has also created a place whereby gay men ( and friends ) can be included and have loving fellowship. I am not especially religious but I do think that's the work of the God/Universe.

I've returned to Brewer St after a couple of years away and have loved my classes with Peter. They're great for beginning again. Chilled, relaxed naked yoga and a wonderful partner class which is especially good for extra stretching. All the teachers are superb though!

Excellent studio. Teachers with tremendous love and experience of yoga. Respectful groups who will make you feel welcomed and at ease. Excellent selection of classes for all levels and needs. I have been going for 4 years, and this is a unique place. Not your standard yoga classes mostly geared towards women. These classes have the edge: strength, flexibility, focus.

I've been going to weekly classes here for over a year now and absolutely love it - its one of the best studios I've attended. Generally I do a 1-2-1 class with Matthew but have been to a couple of group classes too. The studio is conveniently located and immaculately clean. The class schedule caters for all levels but for me the 1-2-1 sessions have been ideal to help me improve my skills and focus my learning. I've improved my strength, balance and agility. Matthew always pushes me to better myself (!) and is on hand for adjustments - its been hugely helpful for my physical and emotional wellbeing. Highly recommended !

Paul Shipp is a fantastic teacher whom caters to the individual needs of each person. He has given me the confidence to push myself physically & mentally in a safe and welcoming environment. I couldn’t recommend him more.

Nutshell summary: If you’re curious - just go. Go to BSY for the accessible to advanced range of regular classes - and stay for the lovely body-positive and friendly community. I’ve experienced my fair share of soulless profiteering yoga studios over the years. I wasn’t expecting the open-armed welcome, new friendships and teachers who treated us (unlike a commercial gym or studio) as students on a journey of development. As many of the classes are nude, I also expected there to be some unsavoury seediness or creepy characters. That couldn’t have been further from the reality - which was wholly respectful, body-positive and tongue-in-cheek humour. Matthew has built a great space, system, practice and community. Usually when leaving reviews like this I address the negatives too. It says a lot that I don’t really have any to add here. Really. If in doubt, get in touch with the studio. They are very responsive. Namaste!

Such a wonderful place. Great range of classes for all levels and types of yoga. Friendly and unpretentious atmosphere, everyone feels included, accepted and supported. Also a good mix of regular and new students, no cliques here, everyone is made to feel welcome. Also, so important, class sizes are carefully managed so that everyone can feel part of the class, have adjustments and guidance if they want to, this is not another "packed in like sardines" London yoga studio. It makes a huge difference to my experience compared to many other studios. Whenever I'm in London I make a point of booking some classes to make sure I don't miss out.

Brewer Street Yoga has been a lifeboat for me during confinement. Every online class I've taken has given me a renewed sense of self-connection PLUS that astonishing feeling that comes from being a part of this incredible community of like-minded men! It's really like a family (except, like... I'm excited to see them!) Every single one of the teachers are top-notch, and even through the screen give a sense of attention and guidance that is so refreshing. I was quick to get the unlimited pass once I'd sampled their offering because logging on to practice with BSY has become a highlight of my day!

As a yoga novice I joined the on line gentle yoga class recently. The class is relaxed, the instructions are clear and easy to follow. It is really easy to see Matthew (the instructor) and he positively encourages each participant to work at their own pace. Having gained some confidence I now also attend other BSY on line class. The added bonus is is that if I can't attend a class, it is available to follow 'on demand'. Highly recommended.

Been going to Matthew's classes at Brewer Street Yoga since July 2021 and strongly recommend it for anyone that wants to find a safe place to discover yoga, meet lovely people, and enjoy a great exercise. Regardless of your level and experience - this studio is amazing.

Matthew is a fabulous instructor and creates a warm, inclusive atmosphere. I feel physically supported and challenged in every session. The studio space is gorgeous and the people that practice there are diverse and very welcoming . It's more than just a yoga class - it's a real community!

A sincere and genuine yoga community. I am so grateful to have stumbled across this set of yoga teachers lead by Matthew. My yoga has steadily improved over the last few months since I joined and that's mostly though just through online sessions. The in-studio sessions whether clothed or naked are great when I get a chance to come down to London on a weekend. I had the tremendous opportunity to take part in the Mens Yoga Retreat (Clothed) in Cornwall last week. The experience far exceed my expectations in all aspects from the yoga itself, the catering accommodation and the tremendous bunch of yogis I had the privilege to practice with. Highly recommended.

👍👍 This was one of the best days ever. I am really sad about all the bad reviews as I had a great time. When we first got there we were told to take shoes off and leave all our stuff (aside from phones and water bottles). There was plenty of space and plenty of yoga mats. The whole session was an hour...

👍👍 Frenchies! Basically it’s 25 minutes of yoga before sitting in a circle with 35 minutes of puppy heaven. They say they tried doing yoga and puppies at the same time in the past, but that was chaotic. Yoga teacher is actually very good. It’s short but I think they hired a proper teacher who did her...
