Booked
a
bed
in
this
hostel
a
couple
of
nights
ago
(had
paid
for
the
bed
a
week
earlier).
I
was
already
in
the
area
in
the
morning
so
went
in
to
ask
if
I
could
check
in
before
11am
(as
I
would
not
be
back
before
the
reception
desk
closes
at
2am).
The
person
at
the
reception
area
told
me
this
was
fine,
she'd
add
a
note
to
my
booking
and
I
would
have
the
key
on
the
app
that
I
already
had
when
I
arrived.
On
my
way
to
the
hostel
at
~3am,
I
realised
there
was
no
key
on
my
phone
and
I
would
have
no
access
to
the
room.
I
went
to
the
hostel
anyway
in
the
hope
someone
would
be
there
(because
otherwise
I
would
have
been
stuck
on
the
streets
anyway...).
Fortunately,
there
were
staff
in
the
reception
area
so
I
was
able
to
walk
in.
I
explained
I
had
booked
a
room
but
the
key
had
shown
up.
The
staff
then
asked
me
to
"stand
outside"
whilst
he
goes
to
check
something,
along
with
4
other
people
who
were
in
the
reception/pub
area
who
I
presume
were
staff
(but
presumably
asked
to
stand
outside
because
they
shouldn't
have
been
there
due
to
licensing?
I
don't
know
but
I
find
out
weird
I
was
not
able
to
just
wait
in
reception,
given
people
were
there.
Anyway
eventually
the
staff
comes
back
and
explains
to
me
why
I
was
wrong
to
ask
for
a
favour
(you
can't
check
in
after
2am),
which
again
I
explain
I
spoke
to
a
member
of
staff
in
the
morning
who
had
kindly
(but
wrongly
clearly)
explained
she
would
check
me
in.
Upon
being
told
"well
it's
your
word
against
hers"
I
also
explained
that
the
staff
member
told
me
she
would
add
a
"note
to
my
booking",
so
assuming
she
had
done
that
he
would
have
been
able
to
verify
what
I
was
saying.
At
this
point
I'm
then
told
well
we
do
have
a
bed
for
you
('lucky
we
didn't
sell
the
bed
to
someone
else')
but
if
you
need
to
ask
for
a
favour
from
us
you
need
to
speak
to
a
manager.
Apparently
asking
to
sleep
in
a
bed
that
you've
paid
for
is
a
"favour"
and
apparently
if
you
stay
here
you
need
to
be
aware
of
member
of
staff's
seniority
before
you
ask
them
questions.
All
in
all,
quite
bizarre.
(and
yes
I
was
lucky
in
the
sense
that
I
was
pretty
sure
that
due
to
their
handling
of
this
situation
that
I
was
going
to
have
to
sleep
outside/stay
outside
all
night).
