Over the past few years, I've had coaching with three of Swimfortri's coaches: Dan Bullock, Keeley Bullock and Astrid Wharton. All have provided me with excellent, stimulating sessions, through which I've largely rebuilt my freestyle technique from scratch. From having never swum further than 4km, I've got to a level where I'm comfortable swimming 10km. I'm currently working with Astrid to improve further and really enjoying working with her. She has great insight not only into what I need to change, but also why I struggle to change certain things and how to overcome the obstacles to improvement that sometimes feel insurmountable. Strongly recommend!

One of the best friend recommendations! Long overdue review and thank you to SfT group. Lovely people who genuinely care about your progress. Not surprised to meet so many that have been going to their sessions for years. Lots of different types of lessons and sessions available from pool to open water and even training camps abroad. Having done a fair bit of running and some cycling decided to have a look at triathlon but haven’t swum properly since junior school over 35 years ago. I met Dan and Keeley Bullock last April at their open water swim sessions every Saturday at Stubbers in Essex till September (unbelievably Dan was driving up from Winchester at some crazy hour to start at 6:30!). It was my first time in a wetsuit and open water so had a few acclimatisation sessions with Maria Pedraza and then built up the laps. Had some lessons with Keeley in the Shoreditch pool as well to get some basics and drills and was super impressed with the personal feedback and attention. Since then, I have been a regular at one of their multiple weekly fitness sessions. These are brilliant group sessions with well organised and challenging sets for variable abilities (thanks Dan) and usually followed by a social coffee and chat. Just booked another set of 1-2-1 lesions this time with Astrid at the pool in Shoreditch and again super impressed with the immediate quality feedback during the lessons both verbally and video and then followed up later in the day by 3 emails with further video attachments and explanations and tips. The pool is ideal, 25 metres and only 3 lanes wide with a dedicated lane for lessons, so it’s a very easy non threatening space for anyone new to it. Anyway with a bit of effort and the support of these guys I went from nothing (genuinely difficult to swim 25m in the pool without being breathless - Keeley has video evidence..) in April to doing the London triathlon and the 2 mile swim serpentine to complete London Classics. Many thanks guys. Am looking forwards to continuing to work with them this year as the aim will be IM Italy in September. May training camp in Cesenatico is on the cards where, of course, Dan leads the swimming…

I've been following 2 courses with Swim for Tri to developp my front crawl technique as well as gain some fitness. I can't recommend them enough ! The classes are great and I feel like I couldn't have progressed that much by learning on my own.

My friend & I had a 2-2-1 swim session with Keeley; we were at somewhat varied abilities (my friend has completed Ironmans & I can only swim 40m continuously). Despite this, Keeley was able to give us quite specific advice on improving our technique and we came away with tons of drills and many pointers to focus on in our practice sessions. Keeley took videos and sent us a detailed report afterwards so we could reference it on our own- highly recommend! My friend & I decided we'll go back once we have a chance to put in some work on our technique! Thanks Keeley!

I really enjoy the Swim for Tri squads. I find all of the coaches really welcoming and encouraging. They are also very knowledgeable and good at conveying tips mid session so you have a good opportunity to take feedback on board at the time, and feel a sense of improvement by the end of each session. I think they are also great at making sure everyone, no matter what their level, is pushed in each squad. Thank you!

Wanted to do a triathlon but had close to zero front crawl ability, so did the 8-week 1h per week 'Learn Front Crawl' course with Keeley. Really enjoyable. Very friendly, followed a good structure, starting with the basics and gradually building upon those each week. Group was small so I got plenty of targeted feedback. They also provide a homework plan of drills which you can practice between sessions and continue to work on after the course has finished. In summary the course was exactly what I wanted, and I'll very likely use Swim for Tri again should I want further lessons in future.

I've been training with SfT for a short while now, and I can't recommend them enough. Astrid is such a great coach; she is approachable, adaptive in her teaching, patient and we have a laugh when we are working together. I have come on immensely in my stroke technique, power and stamina. The whole team have been super helpful and friendly. I can't recommend them enough to anyone, whatever your swimming needs.

I had a training session with Cedric and can say that it was very great session. He explained my technic mistakes in very simple way and gave me several exercises to improve the technic. I believe that after a few more sessions, I'll be able to swim under 20:00 per kilometre soon.

Astrid, who was the instructor I worked with was absolutely phenomenal. I went from having had several attempts at learning to swim to being confident enough to try open water swimming in two months. I learned the front crawl, backstroke, as well as treading water. Astrid’s style of coaching is informal, supportive and encouraging. She observes keenly and works to the strengths of the student as opposed to being fixated on a specific technique. This helps in many ways because it doesn’t discourage when something doesn’t go right, rather you learn about your limits and work with those (at least till you are more confident in your abilities). She also provided a lot of video and email feedback post sessions, so I was able to see for myself what she was seeing and understand better what I need to improve on. She has always been kind and patient, and that has helped my confidence in the water tremendously.

I have received high quality lesson from swim for tri for a number of months now. The lessons are high quality and focus on what you need. I have felt highly supported and encouraged compared to negative experiences of group lessons previously. The feedback they give is extensive include videos, to watch and videos of your own techniques. The teachers are very experienced and passionate about their work.

Learning to swim for the first time as an adult wasn't easy and I always hesitated worried about not being able to learn. But I'm glad I met Keeley who apart from being an incredibly friendly person, is a deeply experienced and highly skilled swimming instructor, she is always encouraging and makes me feel comfortable. Having being guided and supported by Keeley, my conception for learning to swim as an adult has changed completely. After only 5 lessons, I can now swim (full-stroke front crawl) a third of the length of the pool without any floats. My confidence has improved and I feel motivated to practice on my own. Keeley sends me progress videos after every lesson and she also gives me homework. I look forward to every lesson with Keeley and I would highly recommend her to anyone who is thinking to learn to swim.

Swim for Tri are a great team and I have enjoyed all my training experiences with them, whether it be 1:1 coaching, group sessions or training camps. This year in particular I joined the Fitness sessions for the first time and these have proved invaluable to me as a way to push myself and still have fun. It has improved my speed which was the main goal for me this year as I wanted to qualify to race in the Ironman world championships in Kona! I managed to do that and I really have to thank SFT for helping with both my speed and my confidence. It was a dream come true to race in Kona.

I had Keeley for my session and it was fantastic. She guided me perfectly through the technique of my breast stroke. I started the lesson not being able to breathe underwater and finished with this incorporated in my stroke and ready to practice! I would highly recommend and will be continuing my learning with Swim for Tri.

Keeley was a great and patient teacher! Her techniques really word and made a massive impact on my ability to swim front crawl and I have now successfully swam front crawl at my first triathlon which I definitely wouldn’t have been able to do without these lessons!

I’ve been swimming since last August. I swim in a pool where I sometimes see Swim For Tri teaching in one of the lanes. What I have noticed time and time again is that they are amazing teachers - they not only teach the mechanics - they also give confidence, wisdom and inspiration. They work from the heart with empathy, compassion, skill and awareness no matter what your level. They also have a sense of humour. I met Keeley and I’m so thankful I shared a bit about trying to attempt my first open water challenge in Lake Windermere for a charity close to my heart. Keeley offered me a swimming lesson which in only one lesson adapted my breaststroke brilliantly and she taught me how to breathe properly. She also instilled confidence and joy. I remember her asking when the challenge was and I said less than a month and she calmly responded ‘we’ll get you there’. I believed her! Every time I had a wobble she’d say that again! She offered to lend me her wetsuit for the challenge and she advised I get to the open water and practise. They run open water swimming sessions at Stubbers Adventure Centre in Upminster every Saturday morning. I had a lesson in the lake with another wonderful Swim For Tri teacher called Maria which was very helpful and exciting and gave me more confidence - explaining how to swim in cold water in a wetsuit and what happens to the body. The whole team care about you and the craft of swimming and from what I can see as a beginner they attract caring, kind and inspiring people who all love and enjoy swimming for whatever reason! I’ve just completed the Lake Windermere challenge and it was an amazing experience and I’m so thankful to Keeley and Swim For Tri. I highly recommend anyone thinking about a swimming lesson or wondering about open water swimming to give them a call and take the plunge. You won’t regret it.

Really enjoyed the tumble turn workshop. Keeley was very patient clear and comprehensive in her instructions and took us through each stage until we could do full tumble turns by the end. A bonus was also learning to do open turns properly and also some valuable feedback on our swim technique. Numbers were low which meant we all had plenty of attention and feedback and weren’t rushed at all The next day I swam in my masters squad and did the whole session with tumble turns because my confidence had increased so much Thank you Keeley

Fantastic courses and 1:1s. Signed up for a full year of swimming they're so good! I found the instructors super helpful and was really impressed that every individual lesson you have you get homework and thorough, breakdown feedback. If you want to improve technique they'll ensure you understand what you're doing, why and HOW it helps you move faster in the water (along with video analysis you can ask for). A school to stick with if you want to go further in swimming and tri. Ask about their genius swim-special water bottles!
