👍👍 We came to this Lock by accident from Victoria Park. It was a very pleasant walk along the canal and we bumped into the lock being open. The Boatman seemed to be very familiar and experienced in what he was doing. He pushed the barrier and jumped back to the boat and drove the boat to the middle ar... People often mention lock,

Worked with a group of volunteers for the Canal and River Trust to smarten up the lock. Fairly busy lock, being situated near the junction with the Hertford Union. With Victoria Park behind it, it's a great place to watch the barges and follow up with the various activities the park can offer.

If a canal lock is what you want, then this is the place! With the junction to the Hertford Union just below, a fishing club, toilets, free water , chemical toilet point and waste disposal for boaters, you could not ask for anything more, but if you did, then you often get volunteer lock keepers too.

We came to this Lock by accident from Victoria Park. It was a very pleasant walk along the canal and we bumped into the lock being open. The Boatman seemed to be very familiar and experienced in what he was doing. He pushed the barrier and jumped back to the boat and drove the boat to the middle area. And then he jumped out of the boat to unlock the front barrier. The water from the middle area leaked out and his boat descend. It took a while, but the process was impressive.

Took the time to stand watching the process of two long barges going through. Very interesting.

👍 Very big and nice park. Our favourite as it is close by and have been going there for ages. Nice flower gardens, water fountain in the middle of the pond. Park is split into 2. All have big ponds and kids attractions with cafes and toilets. Lots of ice cream trucks.
