Bankside beach is a fantastic sandy shore area in Central London accessible to the river by a small flight of steps from the walkway along Thames . Once tide goes out..the sandy beach is revealed and stays accessible for 5..6 hours safely till next tide starts to build . Nearby is Gabriel's wharf with eating places and public toilet that's free. Also a greenery with seats to sit. All in all a good place to hang out with friends. Care with Thames Water.. not safe to drink. If you handle sand or Thames water. Best to wash hands or disinfect before touching any food.

Yes you can walk along this 'beach'. No, it's covered in... What you will see is a range of random things the Thames washes ashore. And there are often folks here searching and foraging. Even the Tate Modern has an exhibit of stuff extracted from the Thames. But at low tide when Bankside is packed you can use the beach avoid the crowds and walk to and fro Bankside and Thames Beach/Oxo Wharf.

Only visible and used at low tide this is, for most of the time, a hidden gem. Quite taken aback to see kids enjoying the beach in such a big city and unlike in Paris, this one is natural.

Special treat for people who don’t like to travel far for beach. Here’s an opportunity to enjoy beach atmosphere in London at River Thames. The best time to enjoy it when the tide is low n sunny day. Best for kids.

The closest one can get to the concept of a beach in London along the river

Not exactly for a beach holiday, but the spot offers an iconic view of London.

Found it by accident, had no idea there was a sandy beach so close to home

Generic rocky beach but recently a flock of swans has taken up residence and they absolutely bring a lot of charm to this place.

Nice place to have a stroll. Nothing really spectacular though. It is a tranquil place to get a glimpse of the unexpected local wildlife encounters at the beach.
