Small but represents the fight for the right of the LGTBQ+ community, with some iconic pictures and objects. The hosts are always very welcoming and at the end of the visit there is a tiny shop where you could find some souvenirs, books and items from artists.

Edit Jan 2023 The museum has new items in their collection and on loan, showing many parts of lgbtq life past and present. Still a small museum, but well worth a visit to reflect if you have an hour spare. Its small, but powerful, like the LGBTQ+ community Previous review - summer 2022 The museum is currently pretty small with just a few rooms of photo documenting lgbtq life past and present. But this small space is still more than some major museums have to cover any lgbtq+ topics so it's important to have our space. Having been to other pop up lgbtq spaces, it's fairly similar but if your in the general area, I suggest popping in to reflect. Includes a small shop which a range of merchandise and lgbtq books etc.

Awesome place! The collection is small but substantial, I wish more spaces like this existed. The staff were supernice. Make a stop here as soon as you get the chance!

Very interesting little museum. A collection of unique pieces and memorabilia that will give you a genuine representation of the struggle for recognition, acceptance and equal rights of the LGBTQIA+ community in Great Britain and beyond. Can be seen entirety in 30 minutes.

Great museum, a bit small, but very touching with a lot of testimonies, pictures, videos, memorabilia. Accessible and inclusive, nice staff, free entry, but you can make a donation. Small gift shop with a good selection of books and others goodies

Lovely place ❀️ Only opened in 2022, quite small, but have a gift shop. The staff was very welcoming and nice. Every queer person should visit and support this place.

This is an amazing intimate gallery celebrating LGBTQIA+, and this kind of representation of community is a long time coming, especially in recent struggles. The space itself is easy to navigate. Staff are engaging and want feedback. The range is quite vast and covers a lot from histoic articles, pamphlets to costumes, and Oscar wilde cell door. I think it is great for everyone to really showcase our history and struggles like you would visit any musuem dealing with oppression. The positivity wall where you can add you comments is nice touch and access to lgbtq books is a bit overlooked but I think HUGELY important especially for people who may not of properly come out or is more recently out. I think also a great place for said people/families to visit and learn about thier heritage. As a deprived child of such knowledge our older generation can learn more nowadays and this is important contribution to our journeys! Only tip bit tricky to find as googlemaps hates the coal yards! So peseevere! I'd love to work here one day πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ

Kudos to everyone involved in creating such an amazing Queer space. We had a guided tour yesterday and it was engaging, informative and emotionally and intellectually stimulating. Very thoughtfully put together, this museum provides a superb experience. Highly recommended.

I really recommend you visit this museum. It is so interesting and you learn so much about such an important part of history that is yet so little known. Staff was super nice and helpful. There's a great gift shop full on pride stuff, books etc.... prices are reasonable, i bought a pride pin for only one pound! Yes it is small but keep in mind it is free and it can grow bigger thanks to donations.

Thai has to be my queer safe space in London! I have just moved to London and found out I live 10 minutes walk from the place so I visited. It made me emotional yet happy. I think everyone should definitely check this place out. It makes the heart gay πŸ˜‰ The best part is that it’s absolutely free!

Booked a few days holiday in London intending to go to the Queer Britain museum only to be informed within 12 hours notice that it is closed only to re-open later in the month. This is not good enough for out of towers booking ahead. Please provide better communication!

A must-visit when you are in London! It's so important to have places like the Queer Britain Museum all around the world. Wander around the museum and get some goodies in their store afterward. The museum is free to visit and not super big.

Queer Britain is a small museum but very informative about the history of the LGBT+ community in the UK. There are artefacts to look at, books to read and videos to watch. There is also a lovely store and staff were really friendly and more than happy to talk with visitors. I can't wait to visit more exhibitions in future!

What an awesome place. Not the biggest of museums - small but perfectly formed in fact - they have some fantastic exhibits. We learned quite a bit from the displays. The staff are lovely, venue itself really nice and well set out.

It's a new and free museum with a number of interesting exhibits and snippets of history. It's small, and fully pram / wheelchair accessible. Don't expect any sort of chronology of rights movements or a sort of overall narrative as such, at least not currently, as I'd say it's more of an eclectic mix of exhibits pertaining to lived experiences, some of which are very touching.

This is a great museum that showcases queer history. It’s a small space but well thought-out and with plenty of information and pieces on display. They had a great gift shop with loads of books. The staff were all very friendly.

Had a great time! First ever time. Went with my dad! Around my birthday time! At the time I went. You could write a message to leave on the board. What it meant to you to be trans. LGBT etc. here's mine! πŸ˜πŸ‘ . Think the toilet is a unisex one! Anyone can use. Think also saw gentleman jacks top hat πŸŽ©πŸ§πŸ‘. It's definitely worth a visit!

An excellent and very needed exhibition. The space is bright and well curated, and the location is excellent. Elements were both interesting and often moving. A must see for anyone interested in LGBTQ+ history and rights.

So glad to finally visit after attending a talk from one of the lead curators a year or so ago at work. It may be small but the artefacts are carefully curated and I learned a lot about queer British history.

Entrance is close to Waitrose, Google maps wasn't much use to us trying to find this place. Once we were in, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout. The wall of handwritten notes as you first enter the exhibition is so striking. The love felt in an otherwise empty room brought me to tears three times in one short period. The history, pain and love on show throughout the exhibition is very moving. Donation stations allow for contactless donating through the rooms, plus a well stocked, very queer gift shop at the end allowed for plenty of opportunities to help keep this important experience stay open and free. Well worth a visit, spending as long as you like, moving through the 4 rooms at your own pace.

Was a beautiful and moving experience and so. Interesting, doesn't take ages to go round so if you want a museum that doesn't take up the whole day its ideal. So important and wonderful to see this and made me feel very seen. Thank you queer Britain xxx

So happy this space exists! It's small but succinct. In just a few rooms I felt like I was witnessing and learning about lifetimes of experiences and history I had (unfortunately and unacceptably) no idea about. The gift shop is a delight and the staff couldn't have been more kind and helpful.

The museum world welcomes a dedicated space for queer stories to be told - stories of joy and sadness, of protest and strife, of high fashion and high jinks, but overwhelmingly of being seen. It's fabulous that this place exists. Now the LGBTQ+ community ought to get behind our space and support it, share it, love and care for it. Thanks for making Queer Britain such a warm space, full of pride.

This is a free exhibition in King's Cross with photos, posters, clothes, and footage highlighting the trials and achievements of the LGBTQ+ community in Britain. They have a small shop with Pride souvenirs and a wall where you can share your own experience as a member of the community. I came out of interest and also inspiration for an article I'm working on for the Diversity and Inclusion network we have at work. It's both a sad and inspirational exhibition supported by lovely volunteers. Well worth the visit!

The exhibition space is compacted but the content abundant. Perfect place to visit if you would like to know the history of LGBTQ+ movement in the UK. Cheers πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆπŸ‡ΉπŸ‡Ό

I was really happy to hear that there is a queer museum but I was pretty underwhelmed by the history or collections they had. The staff was super friendly though!

It is marvelous that as queer people we finally have a place that exclusively tells our stories, and more importantly, by our POV (no more 'and they were friends, amr?) Send my best wishes to Jean Luc (sorry if thats mispelled :/) who took some time to talk to me, i was quite emotional after seeing the exhibition.

Wonderful space that is truly informative. An inclusive exhibit that's perfect to learn more about British LGBTQ+ history. Their bookshop and library is also very well stocked!

  • 5/5 Alex F. 1 year ago on Google
Firstly this small exhibit is heavily air-conditioned which is an absolute serve. The curation was more short and sweet - with snippets from largely unrelated moments of queer history. No dense explanatory plaques but many original pieces and video/sound exhibits.

The collection of pictures that are here already are good to look at and fascinating to read the descriptions about. Wish it was fleshed out a bit more but can't grumble too much as it's free and I'm sure more will be added in time, spent half an hour here. Great little gift shop with alot of stock and very nice staff.
