This place is just amazing!!! We were just passing by for the route 100 leaf peep trip last week and stopped by for a quick lunch. We had the BEST grilled sandwich we’ve ever had!! People were soo nice there and the owner recommended this heavenly chicken salad whole wheat grilled sandwich. Honestly I’m not a chicken salad person but wow! It was soooo delicious that we didn’t get a good photo of it hahaha - barely snapped this quick one half way through!

Such a wonderful family run business that provides exceptional service and tremendous food. Stopped in with my family and we got 5 sandwiches. An Italian sub, a tuna melt, egg salad, grilled cheese, and turkey. All were tasty and made with love! The family that runs it makes you feel like regulars even if you've never been there before. A wonderful spot!

Took my daughter to Rutland this morning to pick up the car we purchased and we drove an hour and a half and we're starving. My daughter searched Google maps amd this place came up with outstanding reviews. Great generational family business, food was served quickly and the owners had great personalities. Highly recommend when in Rutland and needing a quick breakfast!!

This is one of the best places in Rutland. They provide exceptional customer service, and treat you like family! The grandmother is the most lovely person you will ever meet. Please do yourself a favor and stop by. I assure you you won't regret it and you'll be back!

Locals that have owned the place for years. They have great, huge sandwiches and beautiful personalities! I would recommend this place over the yellow deli to anyone in the area. And you get to avoid supporting a cult. Everyone wins.

My buddy and I walked in cause it got 4.9 on google maps and my god it did not disappoint. We walked out with some good breakfast sandwiches and some new friends behind the counter. It’s family owned and about as small town wholesome as it gets. Would refer a friend 1000x over. Thank you! I had a breakfast sando with a hash brown on an English muffin. 🤗

If you want a classic sandwich shop feel, this is THE place. A lovely family run business with amazing sandwiches. Everyone is so friendly and the vibes are fabulous. I HIGHLY recommend getting a bite here. The sandwiches are hearty and as one of my friends said, that it is the best turkey rap she’s ever had.

Good sandwiches. Fair price. Legit family business. This is the kind of place you would expect to see in a classic TV show. The owners were so friendly. They explained that many of the specialty sandwiches were invented and/or named by regulars. They were also very accommodating for menu changes and kids changing orders. Would definitely recommend.

In town visiting an old friend and we were going to snag some sandwiches from somewhere and take the kids to the park. What a joy and a surprise to stumble into this place. I was greeted like part of the family when I walked in. Keep in mind I'm just some random dude from the Northwoods of WI. They had no clue who I was and I had never been here before. I ordered a few adult subs and took their suggestions on how to have em made. I asked if they could whip up a couple of turkey and cheese sandwiches for the kids and they said no problem, and cut them up in quarters and overloaded them with turkey. I don't even know what my order cost me because the whole time they were so exceptional I just paid them whatever and then threw some more in the tip jar. By the time my crew got to the park and we had our first bites we were blown away at how good they were. I mean for a simple sandwich to taste as good as these did, it is really something. My 2 and 3 year old kids demolished their turkey sandwiches too. Awesome customer service and even better food. You won't regret going here. I wish these guys would relocate to my hometown.

Staying in town for a few nights with my band and we decided to stop here. Boy, was that a good decision. The food is fantastic, but that doesn't tell the whole story. This is a family run shoppe and the star is Martha. An absolute gem of a human and we were treated so kindly by everyone. We had a grilled cheese, a chicken salad sandwich, a roast beef and a veggies wrap. Every single item was fantastic, and we will definitely be back once more before heading back to the West Coast. I don't have the words to truly describe how incredible these sandwiches are. We vacationed in Vermont well over 6 months ago and STILL talk about how wonderful these sandwiches are. The quality of the food, the kindness of the family, and the freshness of the ingredients is unmatched. Stop by this wonderful place, you won't regret it!!

Not only is their food slamming, I had a BLT on rye, they are welcoming once you walk through the doors. This place is special and you can taste the love in the food they make. Highly recommend for any lunch-goer. My only gripe: no coffee.

There are few things that really surprise me when it comes to service and products. Perhaps this day in age we are just use to mediocre service and taste. Walking in to the Sandwich Shoppe for my first time, I felt like I stepped into a world that existed 40 years ago...as if I was a child again visiting my family in Boston with the Italian welcoming and friendly and personable smiles and conversation. The service, the conversations, and the family business already far exceeded any expectations I had. This to me was already worth the 5 star review. Then came the meatball sub...let me tell ya, the only disappointment was not having more to eat. The taste of homemade cooking brought me back to being a kid again too. Lucky for us, we have one of the best sandwich shops in the country that I've been too, here in little ol Rutland. Now my new favorite sandwich shop. When my family visits, this will be the first place I'll take them and I'm guessing they'll stay and chat for hours, probably break out a deck of cards and stay there the entire afternoon knowing them. Awesome, just fantastic and wonderful food and service!

I walked into this spot and was greeted with so much warm energy. The food was delicious, a good value, and even though it was my first trip in, they made me feel like a daily regular. I'll definitely be stopping here for lunch every time I'm in town.

LOVE this place! I had the meatball sandwich and it was AMAZING, great sauce, homemade bread. The best part was definitely the hospitality of Martha, Terry, and Dave! They greeted us warmly when we walked in and had great conversation with us! Will be recommending to everyone in Rutland!

I did not enjoy this place too much: they have one bathroom in the scary looking basement, and I saw 2 cockroaches on the way there. The owners are a family that are very sweet and nice.

Highly recommend this shop! The service is fantastic and I left with a smile because they made me feel at home and very welcome! The food is absolutely delicious, freshly made right off the grill! 10/10 would come back again!

Great family business, they treat their customers great and are very welcoming. They great customers with a "hey brother" or "hey sister". I have been going here for years and post pandemic they have some of the best prices around. Less than $10 for most sandwiches.

We stopped here on a road trip based on the reviews. I got the Italian Stallion my girlfriend got the meatball sub. The owners were incredibly friendly and the sandwiches were amazing. Price was fair, $9 for a full size sub with generous portions. I highly recommend anyone swing by.

This place is the best! I was getting married nearby, and I stopped by the day before the wedding to see if they could make 15 subs for the groomsmen. Staff could not have been nicer, and they were so excited to be part of our day. When we picked up the subs, they were wrapped up and perfectly placed on platters for us. And most importantly, the subs were AWESOME. Thanks so much for helping us have an amazing wedding day!!

Some of the best French toast I've ever had, along with their grilled cheese. By far the first place I think of when I'm hungry. They are all so welcoming and kind. The portion sizes are amazing. Highly worth going in! You won't be disappointed!

One of the better sandwiches I’ve had in a long time! Huge menu to choose from and can even create your own. What makes this place truly special though is the staff. A son and his wife carrying on the business his mother and father started! A must have if your in the area!

The sandwich shoppe is the best spot for lunch in Rutland. Our group had all been swayed to go for meatball subs (homemade meatballs and sauce and rolls!) and we were not disappointed. Amazing! Love that this is a Family owned business for the past 43 years and mother Martha, dad Dave, and son Terry provided great service along with great conversation all on top of their delicious food!
