I reviewed BBMA a few years ago and my son has continued to attend and grow in his martial arts practice and development as a person. He thoroughly enjoys the teaching at BBMA and the focus on self-improvement. I do not hesitate to recommend BBMA to anyone looking for a karate school for their children or themselves and look forward to more years as part of the BBMA community. My son is now almost 9 and has been attending BBMA Hornsby since he was 4. In that time he has achieved his "Little Dragons" black belt and is now working towards the long-term goal of his first "adult" black belt. The confidence, self-control and self-defence strategies he is learning are skills he will take with him well in the future and I am grateful for the care and kindness the BBMA team show him.

We were impressed with BBMA Hornsby team when we attended an open day. Our son has since been going here for the past seven years and enjoying learning Karate. Sensei Josh, Sensei Ann and their remarkable teaching team are great communicators and are able to connect and communicate equally well across age groups - from a 5 year old to an adult student ! Parents will really appreciate the life skills taught to young children - whether it is improving focus and listening skills or practical skills such as how to tackle bullying in the school playground. Highly recommended !

My son has been with BBMA Hornsby on his karate program for a long time now. The basic reason for me to choose BBMA over others in the area was the dedication and passion shown by Sensei Josh when I first spoke to him. For him karate was much more than just a sport, it was a lifestyle discipline which he practiced and urged every student to practice in their lives. It still holds true and I cannot be happier with the outcome for my son. All the other teachers are equally good and dedicated and carry the same approach with the students. Is great to see kids enjoying their classes and learning life lessons along with their martial arts. I would recommend BBMA Hornsby for any one looking for martial arts training.

My son has attended BBMA for over 2 years and it has been such a great experience. All the staff are so passionate about what they do. They teach and inspire in a gentle way, working on technical skills but also mindset and principles. My son has ADHD and karate has helped him improve his focus enormously - the staff have checked in regularly with me to see how they can help. Communication is always quick and thorough. I can't praise the team highly enough.

My son has been attending BBMA Hornsby for the last year and I have been thoroughly impressed with their ethos and values. My son has grown in confidence, loves attending the classes and special activities and is learning skills to regulate his own emotions and body which I believe will serve him well as he grows into a young man. All of the the instructors have been excellent and display high commitment to delivering consistent and engaging classes. Highly recommended.

Our daughter Olivia has been attending BBMA Hornsby for 2 years and I can recommend this wonderful martial arts school to any parent looking to build confidence, dedication, focus, respect and of course self defence in their children. The team are always helpful and the classes are packed full of fun.

My daughter has has grown over with BBMA since 8 years old and she has surprised us with amazing leadership, care and public skills. She has not even complained a single day for the past 5 years and was a role model for her brother to join the class without any suggestion from our end. Both the kids love their BBMA classes and the teachers especially. The classes are packed with fun, fitness and lessons equally so they don't get bored. I strongly recommend BBMA as the place to approach for self defence, physical fitness and fun.

BBMA Hornsby is a wonderful place for anyone to learn karate. My 13 year-old son attends. He commenced in early 2019 and the organisation's handling of the complexity of COVID, and what that meant for a karate school, was admirable. The School quickly transitioned to online and then started populating a site with small movement-based activities. I was so impressed. I've also been impressed with the way the School gets right the balance between care/compassion and discipline. We'd tried two karate schools before BBMA and it was really evident this balance wasn't right. There was a lot of shouting and even just as a viewer I left with my head jangling. Someone once explained this balance to me using the analogy of the potter's wheel. You need a balance between the inside guiding hand (which could be read as emotional support, care and compassion) and the external hand (which can be read as discipline and insistence that movements are done correctly). Potter's wheels aside I'd also describe the School as a rock. It is a place of stability, it is a safe space for my son to go. Thank you BBMA Hornsby. Keep up the amazing work.
