The greatest fish and chips shop I've been to in Australia! My parents have told me a lot about this place and I finally could try it myself. It was better than I expected on all levels possible. Starting off with the oysters, they were fresh, clean-tasting and so meaty. You could tell these were shucked not too long. Choosing the fish was a tough choice. In their display, you could see all the fresh fish fillets to choose from. No frozen fillet in sight like what you get from other fish and chip places. Batter was perfect on the flathead and the meat was sweet and succulent. The chips was by far the greatest I've had anywhere. I would drive 4hrs for these chips. Thick cut with the crispy outer layer so golden and crunchy my mouth was excited with every bite. I cannot recommend this place enough. I will be coming back here for sure and bringing everyone!

Thoroughly enjoyed my take away flathead & chips yesterday afternoon. The batter was gold & crisp , fish was very fresh . Chips were very good & the meal didn’t have any residual oil . Generous sized serve & plenty of fresh lemon . Yep I’ll be going back to Bernys today 👌

This is my favourite fish and chip shop at the bay, every time I visit I make sure I come past here. Yesterday the staff were phenomenal (as always) the lovely lady working behind the counter cooking offered me some free calamari which was just so sweet of her. The man working yesterday as well was so lovely. They were both is such good moods and spirits it made my day. The food is delicious as always and made fresh. The prices are great and the portion sizes are also great.

Good big servings. The family meal was perfect for a family of 5. The medium chips was huge! The fish was prepared when you ordered and bigger than the conventional fish and chips fish size. There is not much room for a dine in but the park is just across the street and there is seating. Would recommend if you are in the area.

Great fish and chips shop. I enjoyed the calamari and chips and my family loved the fish and chips. The shop is located across the road from Corrigans Park and is a short walk to the beach which are both nice places to enjoy the food

Very disappointing...ordered three fish, chips, 5 potato cakes, 6 calamari rings, a couple of dim sims and a can of Solo...80 bucks!! Chips were brown and soggy and appeared to have been cooked twice. Price was the most I have EVER paid for take away for two people. Not recommended.

This is one of the best Fish and Chips i have ever tried. The fish was fresh with thin, light batter. Chips were hand cut and cooked to perfection, crunchy on the outside and slightly sweet. DELICIOUS. I also bought some prawns which were marinated and battered in house as well and were equally tasty. If it wasn't 5h away from me i would be back very quickly to that hidden gem who deserved to be famous. 5 STARS

We stopped on the way through today to get lunch. Understandably it is a long weekend so they were very busy. They told us there was a 25 min wait on food which we thought was acceptable. However when we finally got our food 50 mins later there was no apology for the wait. I told the guy that we were told 25 mins but had waited 50 mins and I specifically said I was just giving him feedback to better estimate the wait time. He then proceeded to role his eyes at me and say “yeah righto” before closing the screen in my face. Again, understandable that they were busy, but acknowledge it and treat customers with respect next time!

Fabulous fresh fish and seafood, yummy homemade potato chips (a rare find!) Thank you for a delicious takeaway dinner. Would recommend.

Waited 40 minutes they don't wear gloves when handling food, battering or picking food from trays to box it up.kept cooking and storing food above fryers, every now and then pack some food eventually fryer died but pulled food up lady said put it back down if! Fryers come back on. Um can't half cook fish then re cook it. Anyway $12 half handful chips n scraps off fish as cocktails plus $3 gravy more gravy than chips. Cold food full of oil and cold gravy disgusting.!! Walked next door to accommodation so coldness no excuse. In response to the below review nothing was eaten out of the box it was full of oil couldn't eat it but thank you for your arrogance in relation to this. I would not come back anyway.!!!!! Rude.

Great service and excellent food, beautiful fresh fish and chips not somewhere you go for the atmosphere but its nit needed when there's a beautiful park across the road

Stopped here on a whim on our drive home from holidays. Got to be the best fish and chips I’ve had in a real long time, the calamari was tender and hand cut chips a winner. Worth the stop, especially with the great playground facilities over the road for the kids.

Sadly out of Flake tonight, so ordered the grilled Grenadier (a little dry and overdone). Also ordered seafood sticks (tasty), calamari rings (tasty) and some potato cakes (too thick of a batter for my liking). Took roughly 15 mins and served hot.

We got take away fish, calamari, battered sea scallops and medium chips. The fish was tasty and batter very light. The calamari was huge but so tender. The scallops were perfectly cooked and the batter so light and fluffy. The chips were handmade which is something you don't see every day. The other bonus was that everything was fresh and battered on the spot, not like most fish and chip shops that have their products already battered and on display. We highly recommend it. The best fish and chips and very traditional close to English fish and chips.

Really quick and prompt service on New Year's Eve! Great value for money and one of the best fish and chips we've had in a long time! Amazing service on a very busy night, fantastic last meal of the year! Thank you all very much!

Great Fish and Chips, freshly prepared and golden fried to perfection. Calamari was perfectly good and very tasty. Definitely generous portions also! The team were friendly and provided some good recommendations about the area too.

Had really good fish and chips from here. The fish was very tasty and the potato cakes were amazing. Also very well priced, had dinner for 2 for the price of just chips down in Batemans Bay so worth the 3 minute drive down.

We had fish, chips, 2prawns of cutlets, and a chiko roll. The chips were cooked in burnt oil. YUCK 🤮 Fish was very undercooked along with the chiko roll. Price rise from $30 to $50. We have been going there for YEARS, and since new owners took over, it has been terrible. I also invited my cousins family to go experience Bernie's as we always raved about how lovely it was, and they said it was also cooked in bad oil and yuck. This only happened in the hands of the new owners. Sadly disappointing 😞

This place was delicious. Only two tables to eat at so best you takeaway and avoid fighting the seagulls. Medium chip size is huge.

Long wait for fish and chips, prawns where being left in tray without ice and some unwashed and not cooked fully, very soggy Got very few chips in fish and chip pack, there barely being enough to cover the bottom of the tray they came in for $12, small chips were wrapped with a lot of paper to hide how little where served and were warm not hot and tasted as if the oil was dirty Same utensils used to grab fish from trays and display fridge being constantly opened and fish not being covered continually leaves you feeling uneasy about the liquid the fish is sitting in from it sitting there Very disappointed, usually a good place to get a fish and chips but regardless of holiday season standards have dropped in making sure the food stays fresh and worth the wait

Fabulous fish n chips. Fresh blue grenadier with crunchy batter. Perfectly cooked. The accompanying chips and prawns were delicious too. Very friendly, courteous service.

Best piece of fish I've had for ages. I usually have crumbed but they suggested their batter was light so I tried it. Absolutely delicious, light crisp batter and not overly oily. Really enjoyed it and it was a very generous serving. I'll be back when I visit The Bay again.

Loved the battered fish, tassie scallops and calamari. The batter wasn't too heavy and didn't hold oil like other places. Everything including their home-made tartare sauce was delicious, however, the gravy was not good. Best battered fish and chips I've had in a while. Reasonably priced and the gentleman who served me (perhaps the owner) was very friendly. There's a great little outdoor park and huge grass area where you can dine/picnic - very family friendly.

Went to Berny’s yesterday, had to wait for a while for the food, but they’re delicious. The gentleman at the counter is really nice and friendly, so I’m still giving 5 stars

Only tried this once but the fish n chips were very tasty, not too salty or oily and the fish was cooked perfectly. Would definitely come back next time I’m in town

Great food at reasonable prices. Very busy in peak season which is expected. Allow over half hour wait. Shoulder and low season quick service.
