It's a legendary venue, and a cornerstone of SoCal alternative music. Still going strong post-COVID and just a good place to be. The bar is for real.

The drinks were OK, the inside (sound set up, overall vibe, etc.) were OK, the bands were GREAT. But man, the bouncer that was at the door (middle-aged, black), his attitude STUNK. Like in the 2 minute interaction we had, so much sass, attitude, and rudeness that you would’ve thought he was a 13 year-old girl who just got her first period. I get that this is a punk bar, but you don’t let your employees treat paying customers like that! Another thing is that the show/door prices are very confusing. For example, there is an upcoming show that’s advertised to be $20 in advance and $25 the day of. If you look on DICE (the app the tickets are sold on) it’s $25 (and the show is in 2 months). If it is DICE fees, then those fees must be inconsistent because the price differentials are ALL over the place when you look at the various shows. It’s not just DICE either, when me and my wife went, we were expecting to pay $25 (because it was the day of). It was $32, which wouldn’t be so odd if they would just be honest on the poster. Overall, everything was O.K. with the exception of the bands (f****** fantastic), the service from that one dude with a stick up his butt (not fantastic), and the inconsistent prices!

Cool place and all just one thing. As one of the other reviews said, security has the attitude of 13 year old girl that got her first period. This is coming from a woman in her 20s. 3 security guards, middle aged black dude, tall middle aged white dude, and a shorter younger black dude. These are the security guards to avoid. P.S girls, if you ever feel like you are being filmed in the restroom, it's because you are. Proceed with caution ⚠️

Still the best spot for live music in LB and the friendliest bartenders.

Cool venue for punk rock bands. Large outdoor patio. Cocktails & beer a plenty. Nice bartenders and staff. Free parking on premises fills up fast and near the venue. Small restrooms a bit of a wait.

I only go here when there is a band I really want to see. Otherwise, I'd rather go elsewhere. There is not enough seating, and it's hot and muggy inside. Outside, there is plenty of seating, but if I'm there to see a band, then i don't want to be outside while they're playing.

Ahhh, Alex’s Bar. I’ve had many a good time here. This is my favorite place to go see live bands. The booking agents have a knack for booking bands that I can get into. Usually there is one band I know that draws me in, but I’ll end up being surprised by most of the other bands playing with them and it usually ends up being a pretty good show all the way through. It’s the right size for many of the bands I’m into, and even when the turn-out is not so great, the room doesn’t feel empty. But they can pack them in too, and it can be nuts to butts in there. They also have themed trivia nights that look fun, but I have yet to go to one of these. Besides the bands, the bar is just a pretty nice bar in my opinion. They have plenty of choices for draft beer that should satisfy most beer snobs. They did a good job classing it up with the decor. Virgin Mary wall sconce lights, velvet paintings, etc. I used to go park my truck at Orizaba Park, which is at the end of the block behind Alex’s, and do a little stealth camping. I have a camper shell on it, so I’d throw my camping gear in the back, and after the show I’d climb in the back and sleep it off. I’ve never been harassed at night by cops or thieves while doing this at this location. So far, so good. The park also has some vegetation and dark spots so you can take an incognito leak. If stealth camping ain’t your thing there’s also plenty of decent but inexpensive motels just a short Uber ride away. Try the Econo Lodge or Day’s Inn on PCH. These are both cheap, and ok quality.

Famous movies and TV shows have been filmed here. Its a Long Beach gem that must be visited for a live show or karaoke. The craft cocktails and beer are outstanding.

Good drinks Friendly staff, but security is really strict with last calls and yells a-lot. Wish he would approach more friendly asking individuals to leave before closing than yelling strictly. Overall bar tenders works really hard to meet the needs of customers Kudos to them Security Not so much :(

Karaoke Night every Single Taco Tuesday!!!!! I must say that I have become a Regular to the Long Beach "Much Love Vibes". The Alex's Bar Stage is Historic from many So-cal Punk Bands Raging the Place for decades. The Dance Floor is big Enough to Fit a Backyard Pool Party. An outside Bar Patio made during the Shutdown makes a Real nice Park Bench Scene with the size of a High School Quad Area. And the Dope Hospitality of the Waitresses and Karaoke Jockey makes you feel like you never left a Positive Vibe. I have been Rocking out the Karaoke Nights for over a Year there and I plan on Having more Fun at Alex's Bar in the Future. P.S. Sign up Early to pick a song, it gets Packed.

Drove 2 hours and they did not disappoint! Went to watch The Sinseers play and met the band members, had delish drinks, servers were nice and got to everyone quickly. Loved the vibe, the decor and the oldies music

I like going here, plenty of good shows and drinks. I like they have kept the outdoor area since COVID allowing more places to sit and space.

Yes yes yes... killer little joint for chill vibes and also bands on weekends. No pretentious bs in this place. Leave attitude at the door:)

Karaoke is lively and the bar staff is kind and patient. The crowd is mostly twenty somethings if you're looking for that.

Spacious, super cool red lighting, and awesome rock decorations make this just a great Long Beach dive bar. Been here for New Years Eve, to see specific bands, and just to drop in, and it's always been a good time, crowded or mellow. They have a very decent selection of draft beers, and though I haven't ordered one, the quality of their cocktails has impressed folks I know. Will continue to visit, and bring folks in.

I tried this bar out for the first time and decided to see a punk rock event that was going on. I had a-lot of fun! Great sound system great drinks that won’t make you break the bank. it’s pretty ample. They host mostly rock metal and punk shows. But occasionally mash it up with other genres.

Went on a Friday night to see one of my favorite Local bands.. great beer selection & the service at the bar was very quick! Security was very professional as well! There was an outdoor area / smoking patio & they were selling freshly made pizza from a mini pizza oven..We had two! It was that good! Overall we had a very nice time and would def come back again!

1-10 bucks sounds reasonable to get in. But $20 is way too much if big bands aren't even playing. I was told inside by others that they paid $10 maybe the person in charge just wanted to take advantage of me and my friend. This place isn't worth $20 to go inside

Horrible experience last night. A friend was forcefully taken out of the restroom by the bouncers and was accused of graffiting the urinal. The bouncers searched him and took his phone, keys and wallet. My friend was then thrown out and wasn't allowed to get any of his stuff back. We called the police and they came and got his wallet back but the bouncers ended up throwing his phone in the gutter. We only found it because we overheard the bouncer tell the owner to have us check the gutters outside it was probably dropped there. And coincidentally the phone was there. Money and credit cards were missing and a damaged phone was recovered. Stay away from this place until the bouncers are held accountable.

Great little venue near the CSULB campus. Great sound, plenty of standing room and some great local talent. Parking can be a little chaotic, but it's manageable. Can't wait to perform here again soon!

Awesome bar and venue for punk rock bands! Cheap stiff drinks, and small intimate environment with a low stage. Always a fun time, with a no rock star vibe. You can meet the bands and feel no barriers between you and the music. One of the best hidden secrets in Long Beach. You gotta go to this place at least once! You will be back again if you do.

I really liked going to the "True Blood" Bar, Fangtasia, and have had a great experience in past. This last time we had a few unenjoyable experiences, but the show was good. I can only hope that the staff just had an usually busy night because it looks like they have a lot of fun beers to try in future.
