A beautiful place. 7.5 acres for short walking and relaxing in nature. Must visit place in Long Beach area.

Thought that Rancho Los Alamitos was a great area to visit. It’s completely free (though they take donation), you are freely allowed to see the animals on site, and you get to see the amazing landscaping of the area. The only part not shown is the private tour of the ranch house, which you cannot take photos of. It’s a great place to go relax, be mindful, and enjoy the day at.

Wonderful Experience! My Great Grandparents worked on the Ranch for the Bixby family and have great memories. It’s certainly from a different time and a different way of life. It’s a pleasure to see it as a museum that showcases early life on the rancho.

First time here it's not too big but it's also not too small it's just right if you want to take a nice little walk through some pretty flowers I would definitely come back here especially because they have animals here they have bunnies horses and sheep. The place is very clean and organized and their gift shop there is also very nice you can also request for a tour if you'd like but you have to let them know when you check into the front which I would think would be a pretty good idea cuz you get more information.

My husband, my 5yo and I attended the Christmas tour. It was wonderful. My husband’s grand ma is nearly 100yo and it was so beautiful to see a house at Christmas decorated in the same way that when she was born. The entire experience was lovely, we were told so many great info on the house, the time, and how Christmas was celebrated back then. We felt welcomed and we were able to ask all the questions we had. It was truly magical and we loved the hot cocoa and delicious biscuit at the end. Thank you!

The parking and entrance are free. There is a film about the ranch, then you can visit the ranch which had goats, sheep, ducks, rabbits etc. They said sometimes they also have horses as well. There are also beautiful gardens with unique plants, and a free guided tour of the beautiful Bixby house/former adobe which took a little over an hour. Very interesting and the woman at the reception was very nice and welcoming. A great free attraction if you are in the area.

I enjoyed the tour and my favorite things around the grounds were the house, the fig trees, and farm animals featuring Preston the shire horse.

Found this gem online and free to visit with online reservations. I did a few hours ahead of visiting. There is a historic ranch, gift shop and beautiful gardens! There are horses, chickens and goats and displays in some of the barns and buildings. Very peaceful and benches to sit and enjoy!

This was our second visit, and we've already decided we want to return again in the summer after learning that there are subtle updates that occur over the year, like a changing of the table settings and food. The people are wonderful, and our docent/guide had an encyclopedic memory, I honestly was amazed; someone in the tour group literally pointed at something and asked, "do you know what that (furniture) piece is?", and without skipping a beat she listed the piece's origin and the story of how the family acquired it, it was awesome. I honestly would just love to go back through and keep asking more questions, it's such an interesting preservation, creating a virtual snapshot of life in the time. The garden is very impressive, both it and the house are well worth the visit.

Wonderful little gem. A peaceful and delightful outing for the whole family. The barn animals and tractor were the highlight for my toddler and I loved the gardens (I also loved the animals too). The historic buildings are also just as lovely to see from the outside (since you can't go inside).

My favorite place!! The docents are exceptional, the gardens verdant and very well taken care and my favorite part is going to their barn and spending time with the ranch animals. My children love going there and you cannot beat the price because it's free! If you go make sure to take a tour of the adobe house and go see the garden that the Olmsted brothers designed and remember they only open after 1 pm.

We loved our visit to Rancho los Alamitos! Lovely, peaceful gardens to roam through, cute farm animals, and a well-preserved home that provides a glimpse into SoCal history. All of the volunteers/workers we encountered were also incredibly nice and friendly. This place is a hidden gem!

Love this hidden gem. I've been coming for 30 yrs. Every season it has new areas in the garden to admire! Peaceful and I love bringing my camera along. Wonderful gift shop. So fun to see chickens running free and all the other animals. The historic architecture is beautiful!

😃Great place to spend the day. The tour is worth the wait, and the staff is very friendly. I was surprised something like this existed right in the middle of Long Beach. They have something for everyone. If you like history, you’ll be thrilled. If you like walking through beautiful gardens, they have several for you to spend the day walking through. They usually have horses although they weren’t there on the days I toured unfortunately. He house itself is quite interesting and beautiful, however you have to go in a tour with a group. No matter what you like I think you will have a great day if you tour this ranch. ⚠️Only one caution ⚠️ They have a volunteer named Barbara who is not mentally stable in my opinion. If by chance you come across her ask for someone else or just avoid direct contact !!!⚠️ They should consider turning her away as a volunteer before she hurts someone, or creates a huge problem for them . 😕⚠️

In the Spring you have to visit this place for the wisteria scent is in the air. The docent tours are a must. But the gardens win accolades. Go for it and visit anytime of the year and the farm animals will be an extra treat. A chicken strolled up to me looking for a treat.

This was a lovely day. Full of local history and the Adobe was like a time capsule. The gardens were so beautiful! The people that run the museum tour were so knowledgeable and very kind. Enjoyed it tremendously and will surely go back again.

Rancho Los Alamitos is beautiful and historic, a real gem! I learned about the Rancho from a Facebook friend's post a little over a year ago - I've lived in Seal Beach for nearly 35 years and didn't know it existed! I go there often to walk the gardens, take photos, just sit and relax. Sometimes I visit the animals too! I became a member, and attended the wonderful Farm Dinner in August of last year. This wonderful place needs to be preserved for all time!

Beautiful, clean and friendly place. The entrance looks like a Private residency ask the person at the entrance you are going to the museum. It’s free and parking is also free. Great experience

Day or night (preferably night) this is a must-see for all ages. Come alone or come with a friend. Truly an experience to be had. Bring some food and your favorite drink then just sit and watch the passerbys dance below the lights. A little creepy but definitely fun.

Can't believe this place is free! Perfect little respite from the urban hustle and such a great place to bring kids. There is a large lawn area to run around and picnic. There are goats, sheep, ducks, rabbits, and chickens. There is a beautiful garden that feels like a trip back in time. Love it!

Good. Not bad. They have good horses and Black Smith there. They had a wonderful gift shop. Oh boy, in Gift Shop, they had sugar free BBQ sauce.

This place I ran up on it by accident. You walk into the past once you get to this location it's beautiful it's peaceful an extremely well-preserved. And you get a few tidbits to the community. Yes it's free they do take donations. It just shows you how far we've come. I'd appreciate what it took to get here.😊

Great place for an afternoon stroll. Beautiful grounds and a nice cozy atmosphere. I didn't take the tour because it would be hard with a stroller, but the grounds were fun and the plants and animals were fun for the kids.

Seven acres of well tended gardens and grounds, historic adobe ranch house that has survived well up to its current 'remodel', barns and animals, guided tours or just a nice walk in nature. Good for singles and families of multi generations to go and be together for a few hours. Just drive through the GateHouse at Bixby Hill, go to the top of the hill and enjoy. And, it's free.
