Magnificent
in
every
way.
Pete
and
Annie
and
their
son
Sam
are
wonderful
hosts.
Many
of
the
trees
will
take
your
breath
away;
including
two
California
Redwoods,
an
ancient
Yew,
a
Spanish
Cork,
a
Cedar
of
Lebanon,
a
Sequoia,
a
Gingko
Jurassic
and
a
giant
North
American
Cedar
(Thuja
Plicata)
that
was
brought
across,
roots
and
all,
in
a
pocket
handkerchief
on
a
sailing
ship
before
being
planted
in
1878.
The
admission
cost
goes
to
supporting
their
Parma
Wallaby
protected
reserve.
Once
thought
to
be
extinct
and
hailing
from
the
Illawarra
escarpment,
some
were
found,
miraculously,
on
an
island
off
New
Zealand
and
Pete
has,
through
conviction
and
courage,
created
and
protected
the
species
from
the
feral
cats
and
foxes
that
previously
wiped
them
out
in
Australia.
A
colony
of
over
300
exists
today
because
of
decades
of
this
commitment.
Plan
ahead
and
take
your
time;
this
is
a
piece
of
heaven
on
Earth,
only
open
roughly
a
month
in
Spring
and
a
month
in
Autumn,
unless
booking
directly.
