Lanes Garden Centre and Open Farm

Garden center

👍 Small but plenty to see. The garden center is not just garden center, it has cafe, farm shop and animals to view/feed My children love visiting, there is old tractor to play on and animals to see (cows, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, geese, golden pheasant and even chip munks) And best of all it's... People often mention animals, garden, centre, farm, feed, good, plants, kids, love, loved,

Took 2 of the grandchildren here today. Very good they really liked feeding the animals. Free to get in £2 for animal food and a nice cafe and gift shop.. Plenty of free parking.

The gardener (her outdoors) especially loved it - she couldn't buy all the plants she wanted, there were too many to pick from. And the coffee was great too.

Love coming here to feed the animals with all the family. Would normally give 4 or 5 stars unfortunately though , One of the busiest days for families to get together and the cafe now doesn't open on a Sunday at all. Very disappointing 😞

Very disappointed. It's free apart from the animal food which is fine but as for gardening centre not much in the way of plants , flowers etc . The goats are fun but I think the farm could do with a re shuffle. And no one available to speak to about the falconry centre. Good for our 18month old who enjoyed feeding the goats and it was free but not worth the 30 minute drive to be fair.

Garden centre with a petting/farm with birds, pigs, goats and sheep.. free admission and £2 for a bucket of food. Plenty of hand sanitizer stations and restaurant on site. Great afternoon with little kids. Definitely worth visiting

Brilliant little garden centre where you can take the little ones to feed/see the animals. Been a few times now and will continue to come back!

Garden centre with animals to feed, no fee to see the animals. £3 for a bucket of food. Kids loved it. Red tractor for them to sit on too for a photo.

Fantastic farm & garden centre Came as a kid to feed the animals been bringing my own kids now for 18 years Used to come with my mum to look round the plants & Animals, now 17 years since she passed I love bringing my kids here for that fantastic nostalgia trip. Always need to pop into James Coffee shop for somehomemade food & drink too

We love going to Lanes. The plants to buy are very reasonably priced. The kids love to feed the animals... So cheap too! We buy our sawdust and hay from here for our Guinea Pigs and it is sooooo much cheaper than the pet shop. Bigger bag and cheaper, plus we prefer to support local where possible. A great place to go for an hour or so with the kids.

I visited today and was saddened by what I saw. There were small pens, and the sheep were in a poor state. Worst of all there was a poor pig located in what I can only describe as a prison cell. It has made me so sad. There was no one to speak to but I hope they aren't always in those pens.

We love this place, kids love feeding the animals and well worth paying for the buckets of good. Animals are well looked after. Good garden centre too good range of plants. Although the cafe serves great food, there are so many rules both inside and out stuck to tables and walls, it's really off putting. The staff are quite off hand and seem stressed. Feel like a nuisance ordering, saw someone move a chair and got told off. A shame as farm staff are lovely. Perhaps the rules are making cafe staff stressed

Love this little farm, the animals are beautiful and very well taken care of, you can see they're loved and not just there for the owners to make money. The buckets of good are just £2 and are good size. A lot of the plants in this season looked a bit sad, hopefully as we move towards spring there will be more choice.

We went to their restaurant James's. We all had the quiche chips and salad, it was all home made and fresh. The key lime pie was exalent. After that we went round the nursery and had a look at goats .I am glad we went to this garden centre I will take other people there.

Lovely place, my son loved seeing the animals... Just be aware next to none of them want to eat the carrots! Although that did give us the fun game of "find the animal that eats carrots".

This place has always been close to my heart, I used to come here with my grandparents when I was a toddler and now I can take my son with his grandparents! And as did I, he loves it! Feeding the animals carrots. Also the garden center section offers good quality great priced plants some of which are harder to come across in other garden centers. There is a Cafe there which offers fresh home cooked local foods and deserts milkshakes and much more!

BB falconry is simply the best way to be up close and personal with beautiful birds of prey. Ben and Lisa really know about all their birds.. cannot recommend them enough. Tara wants to work with these birds after her afternoon with you. Absolutely amazing..

Only stopped by for breakfast but absolutely loved the place, a definite working farm and the staff were really friendly. The food was delicious and it's easy to see why booking is recommended. Fortunately we were early and managed to get a table. The breakfast was delicious and it was easy to tell all the produce was fresh. Can't wait to visit again.

What a fabulous place to bring children and for friends to meet alike. My children are fairly energetic and were blown away by how close they could get to the wonderful animals. My 20month old daughter was transfixed by the cows... I think it was their tongues. All animals were clearly well loved and looked after and we went through quite a few buckets of feed. The restaurant was lovely. They have quite strict rules for children and their parents to follow and I think quite rightly. Safety and the comfort of others is very important. The service and food was prompt and of high quality. We will be going back.
