Great piece of history near Nottingham. We visited as a group and had a lovely tour from the volunteers. Got to see the framework knitting machines in use and had a go at the circular knitting machines ourselves. Very tasty meal from the cafe too.

An amazing museum about the Framework Knitting Industry from back in the day. Glad this place was saved by the Trust Fund, it's important to learn history, especially for children. Really friendly and very informative staff. Will be back again for sure as my daughter loves this place.

Love this place, well worth a visit. If you love knitting or textiles it's great for ideas and to see the history of the stocking cottage industry

Fantastic local heritage preserved and recently enhanced. Spent two hours with personal guided tour. Steep stairs to first floor levels but ground floor level wheelchair accessible. Fabulous cake and little knitted, non touristy gifts to buy. A must if in the area.

£8 for adults. Free for child aged 16 or below. Volunteers are friendly and keen to introduce the history of knitting factory, and to demonstrate how to use the historical machine. The well is still functioning to pump water. Although small, full of fun. Worth to go.

Fantastic experience, though not a large museum, the volunteers provide informative free tours of the site. Great experience for kids as well. Wonderful coffee shop as well, with a variety of great food and drinks. Gluten free brownies!

It was a lovely trip out to find out about the history of making stockings in ruddington. Seeing how the families lived in these small cosy houses. The staff were wonderful and sweet. We had drinks and snacks in the cafe (yummy) the museum is quite small so we visited on the first weekend of the month so we could do the market on the green as well.

Superb museum, one of the very best that I've visited. Lots to see and learn. The volunteer guides are amazing and make the whole experience so good. Some people might find steep stairs limit their access.

Cafe visit lovely with interesting facts about the history of the museum and lots of gifts for sale. Friendly and welcoming staff. Seperate part of the museum so you can just go to the coffee shop. Parking a little limited but can park in the village or carpark next to the coop. All an easy walk up to Parker’s yard. Decafe teas are served as a pot each, getting two cups of tea per pot. 👍 The Greek salad was great, with lots of Feta cheese and a good proportion. The Salmon toasties had a generous helping of salmon and well toasted. It came with half a plate of crisps which was fine. Perhaps less crisps and some salad would be better. Very good all the same. There is a fair selection of cakes, all nicely covered over. Can recommend ‘the blondies’ 😁 Ideal location for all ages. Good access for the older generation and some outside space for the kids. Well looked after and clean toilets. Fab learning environment. I must visit the museum the next time I go. One of our regular places to visit.

Wasn’t to sure what to expect upon arrival but the experience surpassed expectation. All the staff were very knowledgable and friendly. The lady with the curly hair on reception (sorry I didn’t get your name) was lovely, Janet who did the demonstrating for us was great too. We learnt so much from everyone. Great value for money. The only negative was a lady called Gill? I think, who was a little impersonal and interrupted our tour with Janet a few times. Coffee shop is a must try too!

Really interesting museum and I loved having a go at the circular sock knitting machines. If you’re interested in local history, textiles or knitting it’s well worth a trip. The cafe also had delicious cakes.

What a hidden gem. We never expected it to be so good. We would recommend this for any age or gender, the history was so interesting, being able to walk around the cottages and work shops with a very knowledgeable volunteer who spent time to explain and share there knowledge. Amazing.

What a fabulous place to visit! Our guide Gill, is extremely knowledgeable and engaging, sharing lots of information about the history of the craft of framework knitting, and of the different types of machines. She gave a demonstration too. There is lots to see - allow around 2 hours to see the workshops and the houses. We finished off with coffee and cake in the cafe. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon!

We had a fabulous visit to this amazing museum today. It is a real piece of living history set out in such an interesting and informative way. The experience was made extra special by the brilliant volunteers and staff who showed us round and told us about the lives of the framework knitters. The knowledge of the volunteers and staff was superb and we learnt so much. All of them were very friendly and very open to answering any questions we had. The coffee shop was really great too! Thanks so much to everyone

Had a brilliant afternoon at the Framework Knitters museum, loved it, was there around 3 hours which I didn't expect. The venue is great, the staff are friendly and soooooo knowledgeable and there's some beautiful merchandise for sale. Would highly recommend a visit as you've also got the Country Park just around the corner so you can make a full day of it.

Lovely quiet cafe garden, good choice of tasty cakes, nice Yorkshire tea! Recommended, particularly as a break from a busy market day in ruddington.

Love, love, love this museum. Everything is interesing from the little cottages and knitting workshops. You can slip back in time and see how people lived and worked. The machines are a fantastic piece of Nottingham history. The shop has great things for all ages and cafe has a wonderful range of cakes, pastries and breads plus excellent coffee. I'll be back!

Excellent museum with friendly, knowledgeable staff and volunteers. We enjoyed seeing where people lived and worked. Absolutely loved the 'top and tail' embroidery in the kids' bedroom. Bonus part was having a go at circular knitting and being able to bring our efforts home. Great on site café too.

Gift shop advertised as being open. Travelled 10 miles to find it closed. Outside board advertised open. From outside the cafe looked all day closed. Very disappointed. A wasted journey and time

👍👍 I visited Portello Lounge a few years ago for food (as a teen) with family, and I was very impressed by the food and service back then. A few years later, we thought we would go again when I was visiting but this time for cocktails (now that I am that age 😉). Coming from a small town, I was amazed...

😠 The food was delicious as always but the evening was sadly ruined by a very odd scenario with the bill. The menu advertises a two-for-one offer on pizza, pasta and risotto with a "minimum spend per person £20". Our table of 4 ordered £92.50 worth of food and drinks and received a bill totalling £6...
