One of the greatest places in National Trust portfolio. 1750's entertainment House full of architectural wonders. Roman and Greek interiors fulfilled with French extravaganza. Exceptional sofa design. Vast surrounding land to enjoy great walking. Perhaps not enough kids entertainment but a lot of room to play😉 Unusually informative volunteers. Approach them-you might be surprised what you'll learn. Highly recommended

One of the national trusts finest properties. Set in beautiful landscaped gardens the approach is nothing short of breathtaking. The only issues currently are they are resurfacing the car park which should be done within about a month as will the refurbished toilets. . The hall itself was designed by Robert Adam and is simply stunning. It will take your breath away. The volunteers were informative and very friendly. There is a restaurant on site and was good on previous visits. Its also well worth looking inside the church which is adjacent to the hall. There are some wonderfully carved tombs inside. All in all, we'll worth a visit.

We only walked the grounds which were really lovely. Good footpaths all round apart from a small stretch by the river but to be expected when it's wet. Good facilities and a lovely restaurant where we had cream and savoury teas. Good prices too. The photo is a hermits cave on the walk which has been restored. Will go back to look round the house when it opens later in the year.

A huge national trust property, beautiful gardens and I love that you can walk amongst sheep and cattle. The hall is also quite amazing to see with its huge roman like interior architecture. A great family day out...definately worth being a member of the national trust.

National trust place with large house,, gardens & woodland walks. Scenic bridge over the river in front of the main building. Nice tea & sandwich plus snacks room with jacket potatoes etc , lots of outdoor seating for warm days. Deckchairs scattered around the house garden & picnic benches by the car parking area. NB : Church on site open & walks & tearoom , but house closed Wednesdays for renovation .

A great National Trust site, worth a visit for a couple of hours. Some of the rooms are amazing, showing how the other half lived back in their day. There's a cafe and gift shop to pop in for a souvenir and a snack, eaten indoors or out. Great gardens, a good one hours stroll around. It's all free if you're a National Trust member, always a bonus.

This has to be the most elegant of national trust mansions we’ve ever visited. I was not fully prepared for how beautiful this place is. With plenty of grounds to walk around this is certainly worth a visit. Usual National Trust cafe with hot and cold food.

Always enjoy doing the walk through the grounds, most of which is shaded by trees - perfect in hot weather! There are few different walks to do, none of which are very strenuous so perfect for all the family. Gardens are lovely to relax in at the end and the house is well worth a visit.

We enjoyed our first visit to Kedleston Hall and will return once the weather improves to discover the grounds. The parts of the house open to the public are impressive and give a real sense of how the occupants would have lived. We would have preferred for more of the house to be open and be able to explore on more of the upper levels. The tour at the moment is quite short. After a walk round the house, the onsite restaurant/cafe is worthy of a visit and has a good menu. The food was very nice, nice cakes too.

It was busy as expected on a Bank Holiday but the Staff managed the car park to ensure everyone had a space. We arrived in the afternoon and several were leaving allowing a car parking space on the car park rather than grass. There are several enjoyable walks with beautiful bluebells and nature to observe. It was nice seeing so many families enjoying a Bank Holiday walk. Fascinating Hall with a number of beautiful portraits/works of art. Friendly staff throughout the visit. Thank You

Interesting well built house with particularly interesting original contents. The peacock dress is a triumph of workmanship. The ceilings are of very fine quality. The grounds are basic with grazing cattle and sheep but provide fine views. The restaurant offers a basic but adequate menu with quick service. Pity the church is locked.

National Trust property with house, large open parkland with numerous walks. Parkland has serveral waymarked walks of different lengths. Easy to follow and enjoy the lake and woodland with some sculptures dotted around to discover. Has a restaurant, kiosk for ice cream and drinks, toilets, shop and second hand book shop in stable block. Didn't visit the house on this occasion but grounds are nice to explore.

What a splendid place to visit great looking dressed rooms. The volunteers were a great help and know so much about its history. The restaurant was an added bonus great tasting food and big cups of coffee. They have a gift shop and a second hand book store so plenty to choose from. There's also a church to investigate and a big play area so when you add it all up it equals a great family day out. I had a great day thanks to everyone looking forward to seeing them again.

What a lovely way to see in the New Year. We visited the gardens and grounds on New Year's Day. It was quite busy but with acres of space was very safe. The grounds were immaculate, the house looked majestic on misty winter's day. We enjoyed a lovely walk and a warning drink in the restaurant. The staff were all warm friendly and efficient and the drinks very good value. I highly recommend the luxury hot chocolate for a bit of indulgence. The house was closed but having visited it before I can tell you it's magnificent . So either join the National Trust to include this stunning place or visit anyway.

Fabulous visit for architecture and furniture & fittings. Steeped in history. Interesting conversations with room guides. Grounds are great to wander around pity no access to formal gardens. Lovely lunch and refreshments.

Much better day than our previous visit. Walks around the grounds are easy on the feet, I recommend the long walk for the views! House is glorious! Will be going again when time allows

A real beauty, sadly the hall was shut the day I visited but the grounds were still well worth the visit! If I were you I would take the "long walk", which is about 3 miles, as it gives you some of the best views of the grounds and the lamb in the fields.

Had a great first time visit to Kedleston Hall today. The Hall itself is one of the most beautiful NT properties we have visited with guides in every room to provide information about its history. There is also a first class restaurant providing everything from snacks to main meals. Finally there are a range of walks throughout the estate showing it at its best.

Very, very impressive place, stunning rooms! As for outside, I liked much more back of it rather than front. Grounds are amazing, we had nice walk with kids. There is lovely second hand book shop and cafe (but it was very busy and queue was long, so we didn't get the chance to stop there) . Kedleston Hall is surely worth visiting, we all enjoyed our visit. 😀

Beautiful grounds.Staff/volunteers so friendly and knowledgeable a fantastic welcome to the house. The house is immaculately presented with information about each room. Lots of artifacts from around the world, particularly India. The church is worth a visit and there are walks too. Spacious restaurant with speedy service. Lovely day out.

Wow I just loved it! Incredible. Can spend a good few hours if not more wandering around. A lot of wow factor in one place. Excellent work by the National Trust. The old church behind the main building is basically one huge graveyard dating back about 900yrs or so. Great restaurant although the wasps stole my cake once outside. Definitely worth a visit and great for families too.

National trust place with large house, gardens & woodland walks. There is a scenic bridge over the river in front of the main building. The grounds are accessible between 9am to 5.30pm while the house is from 11am to 4pm. Bear in mind that the house is closed on Wednesdays, due to renovations. Deckchairs are scattered around the house garden & picnic benches by the car parking area.

Very beautiful and well kept place. Lovely for a small visit. We spend 1 hour 30 here. But we didn't go to the cafe. I recommend bring a picnic and maybe a Frisbee if you are visiting with kids to make the day last longer.

Been to a few ‘meh’ NT properties just lately but this was an impressive house with large grounds. You have a choice of walks within those grounds. I did the so called Long Walk, which was just over three miles.

  • 4/5 Barry B. 8 months ago on Google
A massive NT house with grounds that are extensive, covering gardens and parkland. Car parking is easy. Although care is needed on arriving at the site as the entry is narrow and there are significant gatehouse protection bollards you need to line up correctly- clearly not everyone manages this! Expensive damage I expect. Long drive through the parkland and some good views on large water features as part of the lake. The area is shared with the hers of sheep and cattle. Staff are very good friendly and Knowledgeable. The catering is first rate, probably the best we have experienced at NT the fritatta (spring pea and ham) was excellent. Easy walking around the grounds although further out in the parkland there are some challenging areas. Tye site has invested in some all terrain mobility buggies to allow the less mobile guests to enjoy the full experience

Unbelievable architecture, beautiful halls, an amazing library with books from the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. Very beautiful park for a walk. It's a great place I highly recommend to visit.

Loved visiting Kedleston Hall, all the volunteers were so welcoming and very informative. I think it one of the grandest buildings I've ever been in. Loved the history of the hall and lots of information sheets in each room to read. The restaurant is inkeeping with the hall and the food was OK. There is a huge problem with wasps both inside and outside the restaurant...must be a nest somewhere that needs sorting. Overall, a fantastic day out for all.

Stunning location which I found by chance and is a National Trust site. Beautiful grounds, lots of historical buildings and a cafe and various coffee and ice cream stalls. Toilets temporary for now as doing a refurb but nice and clean. Definitely worth the entry fee to walk around the grounds and various routes you can take. The grounds also have sheep grazing within most of the fields.

  • 5/5 Becky P. 4 months ago on Google
Absolutely beautiful place to visit. There's large gardens, the stately home, restaurant, and shop. There is far more to see than these, too. It gets very busy, so try to make sure you have plenty of time in case you have to queue to get in the home. The restaurant was also very busy, so it can be difficult if you have children who are getting hungry. There are a lot of stairs/steps around the home, which makes it difficult for people with mobility difficulties, which is a shame as there's so much to see. Make sure you look up as there's so many beautiful things to see. The doors are very intriguing, too, as some have false key holes. The woodwork and building are truly craftsmanship. There is plenty of parking space with disabled parking available. You can use mobility scooters that are owned by the Trust, making it possible for people with mobility difficulties to explore the grounds and gardens. However, you will not be able to take the scooter inside the buildings.

Another beautiful national trust property. Beautiful walks in the grounds, will return without our dog to experience the house. I suggest buying an annual pass to enjoy something new every weekend. It’s really worth the money.

The interior hall is grand and huge. Can spend at least two hours browsing the arts and jewellery gallery in the house. You won't regret taking some walks and seeing some nature in the massive garden within the Kedleston Hall area. Grass, trees, flowers, river, sheep, birds and more. Don't forget to walk into the church building.

What a place to visit inside and out. Loved it here, just wish more of the house was open to walk around. What we did see was amazing. Will definitely visit again.

Beautiful woodland and lake walk. The grounds are just lovely. The hall is majestic. The volunteer guides were informative and friendly. Lovely afternoon in the sunshine. We will return.

Beautiful hall and surrounding area, lovely location for walks with plenty of wildlife. I can recommend the long walk for a sheltered walk through secluded forest, ending with a stroll beside the lake and up to the main house. The hall was good inside, though not enough rooms to warrant the £5 entry price. Service at the entrance was also slow, but apart from that a good place to visit

First time visiting Kedleston Hall and we weren't disappointed, amazing place to visit with vast acres of woodland and fields which are home to plenty of livestock. Inside the hall it was a beautiful place definitely worth a visit.

Lovely visit with my daughter. Enjoyed a walk around the grounds. And a cream tea in the sunshine. Limited rooms open inside the hall but still beautiful and opulent!

  • 5/5 Simon V. 2 years ago on Google
Very nice estate with plenty of land to explore. We enjoyed an afternoon on the longer perimeter walk which has superb scenery all the way, there are other walks, gardens and the river to take a look at as well. Very well maintained. Recommended.

Stunning house and grounds, two very nice walks around the grounds, short or long. Be mindful the house is only open certain days of the week!! Lots to see, well worth a visit any time of the year.

Beautiful National Trust House with stunning state rooms. The room guides were very informative I wish more rooms were open but enjoyed my visit. The grounds looked great and unfortunately we didn't have enough time to explore the grounds and pleasure garden.

  • 5/5 Kathie F. 9 months ago on Google
Such a fantastic day out. The garden on the back had loads of deck chairs for everyone to use and there was such a lovely relaxed atmosphere. It was lovely to visit the little church at the back of the main building. Sheep were everywhere, which was lovely to see, especially the lambs playing. Plenty of places to buy ice-cream and refreshments. The building is gorgeous and is well taken care of. The guides in each room are full of knowledge and so friendly. We will definitely return!

Kedleston Hall is an amazing architectural building that rivals Chatsworth House. It portrays the Colonial wealth of the Curzon family ancestry and a vision of luxury lived by them through their love of travel, art and entertainment and can be fully appreciated by taking the inside tour of the hall itself. On this occasion however, we visited for a walk around the amazing park to take in the landscape of changing autumn colours. There are short, long and lakeside (well signposted) walks to enjoy and we made the most of the park views from the strategically placed benches along the short 1.7 mile route. As well as the colourful scenes, there is an abundant amount of wildlife within the park. All in all a great place to visit any time of the year. After a walk the restaurant in the 'Great Kitchen' is a great place to replenish your energy. Kedleston Hall is definitely a place you must visit.

Fab place for a short walk and a very nice picnic area. Visited at the end of May 2022 and I've never seen so many goslings, ducklings and coot chicks! The house is incredible - it was built to impress and it does that in spades. We will be making a return visit in the future.

  • 5/5 Mel A. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful countryside with the sheep and the lambs grazing all around. The house and grandeur from large rooms, beautiful decor and lovely furnishings was great. Docents always add much detail to the experience!

  • 5/5 Robert C. 1 year ago on Google
Had a great time on the long walk around the estate (the Hall wasn't open on the day of my visit, probably a good idea to check if you're planning to go). Has all the facilities you'll need plus the walking paths are subtable for pretty much everyone, lots of lovely views and wildlife to see (season dependent tho). Overall I had lovely afternoon and will visit again to see inside the Hall.

  • 4/5 paula w. 1 year ago on Google
First visit to this lovely place! Nice easy walks through the woods or around the lake(will do that one next time!) The hall is interesting with human guides in most rooms which is a lovely personal touch. The catering facilities were very busy so we didn't bother to queue..Will take a picnic and flask next time! Nice gift shop. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful.

  • 5/5 David L. 1 year ago on Google
What a fantastic place. The house is definitely worth a visit, so much to see. Experienced guides in each room to explain its history. The grounds are lovely too. Recommended.

  • 5/5 David “Demodave” L. 9 months ago on Google
A beautiful place to spend a whole day, wonderful interiors to the house. There are plenty of walks and outstanding stables. Cafe available with one of the best choice and value I have seen at a NT house. The staff are very pleasent and helpful. They have plants for sale, probably the best I have seen for offer at any garden centre, competitively priced. Picnic areas catered for with seating. On my visit 06/2023 work was being carried out on the toilet facilities, arrangements had been made for temporary facilities which were more than adequate, even for the less able-bodied. A very pleasent day, well worth a revisit.
