Big and beautiful. Parked with lots of fun activities for children including bouncing castles, water activities, swings and much more. The tickets are affordable too (mostly under Β£4). Provides a great opportunity to admire nature and bask in it and have a lovely outdoor time with family and friends.

We made a quick stop at the park for coffee. Its such a vast park with lakes and train sets and cycle competitions etc. The carpark is excellent but it's such a hike to the cafe.If it's raining take a brolly. Would like to see it on a sunny day.

Easily accessible with a huge car park. (Pay and display)The park is dog friendly and has lots of facilities for different sports. Perfect for walking the dog and letting the kids burn off some steam. πŸ™ƒ

Large public park, easily the most popular park in Derby and therefore incredibly busy during the summer. It caters for all ages with remarkably good playgrounds for both young and older children, a skate park, paddling pool, outdoor crazy golf, bouncy castles, children's canoeing on a shallow pool, boating on a lake, a craft village and the orangery tea rooms. The grounds are huge with lots of grassy areas to enjoy alongside the Markeaton Brook flowing through its entire length. Historically the park is hugely significant, although you need to research it yourself as Derby city council seems to be allergic to promoting the city's past.

I used to be brought here 30 years ago and most of it still looks the same to my parents and it was a great visit down memory lane for them. This time, I brought my own children to play here! Great place to visit. Although we have never been here when it is packed but quiet is nice just the same.

Great place to visit, love the open space and just outside the hustle and bustle of the city. Nice cafe in the centre of the park along with some lovely craft shops. During the summer there is a large paddling pool for the kids. Two ice cream outlets, one by the pool and a mobile truck near the cafe. Large kids play area and also a high rope trail for those more adventurous, though check out its website before going, as not sure on its opening times. There is also woodland walks and aa boating lake.

Nice scenery, peaceful and quiet but also has side attraction for kids and also different views for adults. It’s nice for some fresh and cool breeze and also had a fake festival activities going on the day we were there. It was lively. So many spots for cool pictures too if you are a picture freakπŸ˜‰.

Markeaton Park offers a delightful blend of nature and recreation. The expansive greenery, serene lake, and well-maintained paths make it an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll or a family picnic. The park's playgrounds cater to children of all ages, providing a safe and engaging environment. During my visit, I appreciated the cleanliness of the park and the variety of activities available, including mini-golf and the Mundy Play Centre. The inclusion of seasonal events adds an extra layer of charm. While some areas could benefit from additional seating, overall, Markeaton Park stands out as a welcoming haven for both relaxation and active enjoyment

Great place to visit for a gentle stroll, taking the family out for a lovely picnic, paddle on the boat or walking your doggies. This place is massive and has it all: car park to the front (can pay by card - boooonus), massive fields for running around, playing ball, catch, flying kite, a small lake where you can rent a boat and go on a romantic sail πŸ₯° cafe and sitting benches with children's play area, little stream running across it... What more could you want. Very well maintained, clean and looked after. Definitely worth a visit! πŸ₯°

After a fun game of pitch and putt, an ice cream and a trip to the park, we returned to find a parking ticket, which was issued 11 minutes after our parking expires. It just seems a shame to fine people! But be warned, if you go, they are out there waiting to pounce and generate extra income, rather than encouraging people to come and use the facilities.

Nice walk around the park. Β£2.50 to park for 2 hours. We walked around the edge with the drugs, stopped for an ice cream at the orangerary, (no ice cream man today but there was still scoop ice cream) and a play in the huge playgrounds. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Toilets nice and clean.

Brilliant place to take the children or to walk the dog (or go running if you've got the energy lol). I think there's something for everyone at Markeaton. The park there is fantastic for the kids to play. And they loved seeing the ducks on the stream. There's a little court yard with quirky craft shops. Oh and there's a cafe.

Love our local park. Especially early in the morning. Virtually empty, bird song, wildlife, just lovely, more than just a family park, although it is great for that. And now the cafΓ© (fully dog friendly) has got a decent coffee machine, what's not to love

Fantastic park, especially for children. Although the paddling pool was closed(?) for maintenance . Couldn't get in the gift shop because of my wheelchair , which was disappointing. I still enjoyed my time there though.

Visited our son's in Ashbourne, lovely day. So we decided to visit the park with our grandson. Ice cream a little expensive ( accept cards, lol).. 6 of us took the rowing boars out Β£39 ,lots to do, brass band playing if that tickles your fancy. Picnic area, smaller canoes for kids & electric bike for even smaller kids.

A big park with a little of everything including (randomly) a model railway shop. We managed to spend an entire day there without getting bored (helped by a paddling pool, playground, coffee shop and mini golf). It is a popular park so places like the paddling pool does get really busy when it's warm, as does the ice cream stall. Loads of land around though away from them and plenty of other things to do. We'll likely go back and we live 40 odd miles away.

This place is great! It has so much to do. You can walk around the grounds and enjoy the nature and walk round, of which there are a few different options available. On certain days they have the little train 'museum' open. It's quite small but run by people who are very passionate about what they do and their hard work is fascinating to see. There is a small fee to enter but if you like trains it's definitely worth it. Even if you don't like trains but can appreciate someone's dedication and hard work, then it's worth a look. There is the craft area with a gift shop. The whole place has random wooden carved pieces dotted around the grounds. Young kids will love hunting for the fairy doors and finding rapunzel in her castle and the wooden thrones you can sit on. The play area is huge and has enough to keep kids occupied for a good bit of time. There is also a bigger area for the bigger kids, more of a challenge/activity than a play area. There's a cafe for refreshments, toilets, gift shop, ice cream van. There is a water area where you can hire a pedalo for a bit, a golf course, a variety of sports areas such as basketball courts, cricket ground and football area. There is also plenty of space for families to have picnics and play games of their own. Parking is well located and reasonably priced. Excellent place to go alone/walk your dog or for a family day out.
