If you are an aviation enthusiast living in the area you really can't go wrong here. The best times to watch planes are early in the morning, mid afternoon and in the evening. Evening is best for the cargo aircraft. This particular viewing spot focusses towards the west side of the airport where all the DHL aircraft park. Also on a typical day the planes take off on runway 27, towards this viewing point.

Nice to come here when you need some time to yourself, watching the planes go in and out is a great escape from the day to day life. The Vulcan is the highlight of this place, hats off to the volunteers for keeping the spirit of aviation alive.

Great place to view aircraft landing and taking off. As close as you can get to the runway which is great.

Nice area to walk the dogs, especially in summer when the wind isn't howling. Viewing area of all the planes coming and going is good.

Just dropped off the in-laws for there 100th holiday this year haha lol. Used the rapid drop off because I was only there to drop off. This used to cost only a £1 for upto 15 minutes, now it cost £5 for 15 mins then £1 per minute… yes per minute after that. This is absolutely insane money maker and I think East Midlands should really reconsider the price here. It took me 10 mins to leave the drop off due to them deciding to switch off one of the exits, so two lanes were having to merge to use one barrier to get out, which is also where you pay. Shocking East Midlands.

Good views of the runway at EMA, and the chance to get up close and personal when the big cargo jets land. Nice that the authorities allow this area to continue. Gatwick and Heathrow could take a lesson from this, although they probably monitise it!

Nice change on things to do, large fence for standing and big space for car viewing. Appears to be a meet up spot for the young lads in the area in the evening sometimes.

Great view of planes at East Midlands airport. Windy so advise bringing layers. Just an open field so may want to bring chairs etc. could do with some picnic tables but experience was fine.

Really nice place to watch planes land and takeoff. Perfect for the kids or a picnic out. They also have multiple planes parked for viewing and a small model shop and cafe on site. Easy access in and out and parking is abundant. Nice views of the runway.

Best place. Planes fly nearly above you! There is also a path leading directly behind the runway!

Great place for watching planes up close. We took the young ones to see how they react to planes before taking them on one….all was good 🤣

Good airport and very local to the majority of the Midlands region, not bee through for a while but have heard great things and seen alotnof positive changes going forward

I really like this airport because they have loads to explore like the airoepark to look at the old fashion planes they have a good view of the planes departing and arriving and they have a thing called the cargo night where loads of big cargo planes arrive

The view point is a great place to watch the planes go in and out of the airport, there is also a walking trail around the whole airport.

The Aeropark is easy to find and park up. The cost is very reasonable (£5 Adults / £3 Children) and makes for a cheap/enjoyable afternoon out. There’s 20+ Planes to explore, several of which you can look inside depending on which volunteers are around. You can also take picnics and watch the planes landing/taking off from one of two viewpoints the looks out across the runway. Highly recommended!

Good location for watching them come in. Not great for photography. Better areas around for that.

Only issues is the little boys that turn up in their financed cars blasting music and revving in the hopes for attention, if the gates were constantly monitored it would clear them off. Other than that its a great viewing point for plane enthusiasts.

Just passing by and enjoyed a 5 minute leg stretch here... Great location - very close to the adjacent runway, East Midlands Airport, at the end of the pretty village of Donington. No official parking, more of a lay-by. Photo opportunities great and view of the parked aircraft across the runway. Good introduction to planes for the little ones.

Abit windy somedays. Common sense needed by some people as abit of litter lying around. Good views of both parts of the airport.

Nice spot to see and show your kids plans from close view. Also can view some spectacular landing and take offs.
