Our stay at Sheriff Lodge was simply amazing. When we arrived, the owner showed us our room, which was just as on the photos and very clean. The mattres was super comfortable, never had a mattress like this on holiday. :) The owner was very interested in our plans for the next days and provided tips and recommendations for restaurants and activities in the area. The breakfast was also amazing. We are both vegans and we usually have trouble finding good food in smaller hotels/b&bs/small towns. But in the Sheriff Lodge every morning we were served a full English Breakfast. We will definitely recommend this b&b to other people and likely will come back ourselves again.

Ian and I stayed for a Birthday celebration. It was wonderful as always. I think this was our fifth weekend stay in three years. I believe somebody described staying as like a big warm hug. Aye. That is so.Ziz is kind, considerate and mindful of her guests. Quality never fails. Still my #1 stay in Derbyshire and the benchmark by which we judge all our other staycations. Thank you again Ziz. My Husband and I had a 3 night stay here and it was absolutely perfect. Zizz was a wonderful host her B&B is outstanding and she has renovated it with attention to detail in keeping with the building. Our room was perfect, spotless with a lovely feel of luxury. Breakfast was outstanding and there was a great choice. I would thoroughly recommend a stay here. You are close to so many of the Peak Districts jewels you can visit. There are restaurants, cafes and pubs within walking distance and many in short driving distance. We felt very central and wouldn't hesitate to return. I will be recommending this B&B to all my family and friends. Plus she also has the most wonderful dog Red, he is just such a good boy.

Sheriff Lodge was everything we hoped it would be from looking at the website. A charming building, lovely furnishings, a warm spacious room, (we stayed in The Dray) lovely comfortable bed, fluffy towels, fantastic breakfast and a very welcoming host. Ziz gave us ideas on where to go so that we made the most of our two day visit to this part of the Peak District. We also booked afternoon tea for the day we arrived which was delicious, you will not be disappointed. I highly recommend this delightful b & b, and I’m sure we will be back.

What a beautiful place to stay in Matlock. Our room was gorgeous with lovely touches like the ‘things you may have forgotten box’ and the make up flannel. The bed and bath were super comfortable and deep respectively! Ziz is a wonderful hostess and a great cook. She organised taxis and restaurants for us as well as just being a very relaxed hostess. Lovely to have the honesty bar too. Beautiful house and garden. And we loved Red the boxer! We would definitely book again. Thank you Ziz.

We had a brilliant weekend stay at Sheriff Lodge. Our room and the drawing room were lovely and very clean. We received excellent service from Ziz and benefitted from her local knowledge and recommendations. The location was great – in a quiet setting and within walking distance to Matlock. The tea when we arrived was a lovely touch too.

Sheriff Lodge turned out to be the ideal place to stay when recently visiting National Trust properties in the area. Ideally situated and within walking distance of the pretty town of Matlock. Ziz made us very welcome from the moment we arrived until departure. The bedroom was quiet, comfortable and clean with a good selection of tea/coffee. The en-suite bathroom provided us with a good shower and all toiletries. Breakfast, in the tastefully decorated lounge/dining room, was delicious and plentiful. Ziz also recommended good restaurants in the area, for which we were grateful and where we ate well. Good wifi connection and signal! We would certainly recommend Sheriff Lodge and would like to return again.

THe owners had clearly gone to great lengths to ensure that this B&B experience was first rate. The quality of the bath and bed linen, the comfort of the lounge and the range and quality of the breakfast all contributed to a first-class experience.

A lovely weekend spent at the Sherrif Lodge, which lived up to all the great reviews previously posted. Lovely welcoming and comfortable rooms, superb breakfasts, a wonderful host in Ziz (and Red) and a great location near to the town centre. We look forward to returning soon.

We have just returned home from an excellent 5 night stay at Sheriff Lodge. Lovely clean and very comfortable room. Ziz is a wonderful host, and extremely helpful and knowledgeable about walks, places to visit and where to eat in the evening. Our stay was relaxing and most enjoyable. Sheriff Lodge is such a lovely property, located in the picturesque town of Matlock. Our room was so cosy with a big comfortable bed and very sweet decor. The towels and sheets felt very expensive and the room was very warm when getting up in the morning and going to bed so we felt very looked-after. Ziz could not do enough to help us and accommodated our early check-in. She also provided local recommendations and the most wonderful breakfast!!! I saw it in a lot of the other reviews and the breakfast is just as good as everyone says, you have to try it.

The stay was most enjoyable. We visited shortly after the horrendous storms and floods and were apprehensive when reading that the River Derwent had risen to several feet above road level in places. However, be assured that Sheriff Lodge will not be affected. The house is very nice and the quality of the breakfast and in-bedroom products are above that we have normally found. Ziz is wonderful, easy to talk with and she will provide sound and accurate advice as to the local attractions. Do not forget to ask about discounts for these attractions. Matlock is a small, but very nice town with good restaurants, shops and a steam railway.

We had a great stay at The Sheriff Lodge, the room was amazing, large bed, very clean and warm. There was a good choice on the breakfast menu, Ziz (the host) was very accommodating, and had good knowledge of the whole area and recommended good eating places. Good location, easy access to the town centre. We are hoping to go back in 2024.

Had a great stay here recently, property was well situated for Matlock town and surrounding Peak District. Host Ziz, is obviously proud and very discerning of her beautiful guest house. Breakfast was fabulous and extremely well presented. Our room was perfect for our needs. We would not hesitate in recommending Sheriff Lodge, we will certainly return in the near future.

Another lovely stay at Sherriff Lodge. Ziz is always so welcoming. The rooms are lovely and clean and very comfy. Always spoilt for choice for breakfast, the eggs Benedict were delicious 😋. Ideal location for a trip to Chatsworth House or Bakewell.

Amazing place! I booked the room here for two nights just to avoid Hiltons, Marriotts and Holiday Inns of the World. I was really surprised how a little bit of history, old Imperial style and home touch can bring joy to simple accommodation. Ziz was so nice trying to call me couple of times to confirm my time of arrival. I have to try the breakfast last day of my stay. From the pictures on Google it seems delicious. Great toast, mushrooms and simple but tasty scrambled eggs. Ziz provided with delicious cookies to complement the coffee. It was superb stay! See you next time Sheriff Ziz :-)

Had a lovely stay here with my husband & dog Bertie. Beautiful room & house. The breakfast was perfect with all produce of high quality, expertly cooked. Enjoyed having Red for company, a very well behaved dog. Thank you Ziz 😊

What a wonderful experience our stay here was. Having initially being disappointed with the wrong dates being published for the victorian xmas market, we discovered Haddon Hall and its amazing Artisan Xmas Market. We were made very welcome and comfortable at Sheriff Lodge. Appreciated the tea and cake on arrival. The room lacked for nothing and a good choice for breakfast. Ziz and Red made our trip a wonderful experienceand look forward to returning time after time.

Sheriff Lodge is a wonderful B&B, perfectly located for easy access to the town. The rooms were a great size, with an enormous and comfy bed. Every detail had been thought of and it was a pleasure to stay at the Sheriff Lodge. The owner was so welcoming and helpful and the breakfast was absolutely delicious! I would throughly recommend to anyone visting Matlock.

Excellent B&B. Room was spacious, tastefully decorated, well equipped and very clean. Service was fabulous as was breakfast. Great to have access to an honesty bar to be able to have a drink in the pleasant garden area. Is situated up a steep hill but manageable. Will be returning.

A lovely house in a quiet location, yet only 5 minutes walk into town. Breakfast was excellent and the well stocked honesty drinks fridge in the sitting room was a great feature. Ziz is a great host and the room we occupied for 8 nights was spot on. This is now our “go to” place when we visit the Peak District.

The whole experience of our stay was a pleasure, Ziz our host was very obliging nothing seemed too much trouble. The breakfast was to die for, especially her home made bread. Homemade marmalade, thick cut was also a favourite fir me. 11 out of 10. We hope to visit again 🤞

We had a great stay at Sheriff Lodge. The location is brilliant for Matlock. Our room was lovely, with everything that we needed and lovely little touches. It was clean and there was plenty of room for us and our dogs. Breakfast was stunning! Thank you!

Very high standards are maintained at sheriff lodge, the room was very clean and comfortable. The little touches such as a pot of tea on arrival were well met, and an introduction to Red, the family dog (who is adorable) makes it feel very welcoming. We’d definitely stay again here again. And mustn’t forget to mention the breakfast, first class!

Sheriff Lodge is a wonderfully presented and well-run small Hotel in a beautiful setting within a 10 minute walk of the Historic town centre. The proprietor 'Ziz' went out of her way to ensure that our stay was entirely as we hoped it would be. Upon arrival we were offered a lovely pot-of tea and a cake in the resplendent Lounge, breakfasts were delightful, tasty and the 'Full English' was sheer quality, largely locally sourced. Our Room was very comfortable and 'spotless' , with all you could expect (Tea/Coffee etc) and much more besides. Our regret is that we did not have time to sample the 'Afternoon Teas' which are a speciality and I am sure will be amazing. We WILL be returning so we shall be able to partake of 'Afternoon Tea'. I cannot speak too highly of 'Sheriff Lodge'.

My wife and I won a competition for a weekend stay here. It was wonderful and the host was amazing. There are many exciting places to see and things to do in Matlock, as we saw when we attended during the Matlock Illuminations! This place is dog friendly and the host has an amazing dog called Red :) Super friendly! The rooms look amazing and 100% recommend this place to all my friends & family who are visiting Matlock. Lovely b+b with a great host. I stayed in the Mousehole room, a beautifully decorated large room with a comfy bed and a cozy armchair. There was fresh fruit for breakfast and a great selection of cooked breakfasts, including a fantastic Eggs Benedict. Ziz was a lovely and helpful welcoming me with coffee and cake and making helpful suggestions for things to do.

We have just returned from a lovely 2 nts stay at the Sherriff Lodge..what a beautiful place. Our room was tastefully decorated, spacious and spotless with a generous en-suite bathroom. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious served in the beautiful dining room. Within walking distance of Matlock with lots to do in the local area. Ziz is the perfect host and couldn't have made us feel more welcome. We hope to visit again soon.

A beautifully run bed and breakfast, Ziz is very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Our room was excellent and 2 others we saw were equally good and the breakfast is to die for. An excellent choice of high quality food and delicious homemade bread and marmalade. And treat yourself to the afternoon tea (don't have any lunch). Who needs to go to the Ritz? We cannot praise Sheriff Lodge enough

Absolute superb B&B in Matlock - we had a very enjoyable 2 night stay to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. Ziz was an excellent host - the establishment was immaculate throughout beautifully furnished and tasteful decor. The breakfast was outstanding with a very wide range of choice and we treated ourselves to a completely home made afternoon tea which was also excellent. Our room was lovely and clean with all you could ever need including a things you may have forgotten box just in case. Lovely full bathroom with new power shower - the whole experience of staying here was delightful. Dedicated parking spot for each room provided - nice quiet location about 500 yards from Matlock town centre - it is a steep walk up the hill up Dimple Road back from the town but if you take it easy it's good exercise!

We had a wonderful stay at Sheriff Lodge. We stayed in the dog friendly room, it was large and spacious with a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was excellent. Sheriff Lodge is in a great location being so close to the centre of Matlock. Ziz, the owner, was very welcoming and helpful, she provided us the very useful information on the area, what to see, walks with our dog and places to eat. We will definitely be returning.
