Brilliant museum, I would recommend it. It had been recently renovated, there's disabled access everywhere. The staff were lovely. The kids kept looking for toy mice as part of their activities. Don't get me started on the coffee, IT WAS BRILLIANT! and I'm really fussy about my coffee. Entrance is free but I would recommend donating if you liked it.

Amazing old house and very interested workers. We have been there 2 times and love each visiting. Entrance is free. You should visit coffee, there is very lovely. This house is very funny for kids, because they are looking some toys in rooms

I'd definitely recommend anyone living in or visiting Luton to pop into Wardown House. During each visit, I always discover a new piece of local information, artwork or display. Another bonus is the location. The museum is situated inside beautiful Wardown Park and there's also the lake nearby. You can treat yourself to freshly-made sandwiches and cake and have your snack or meal in the Victorian-inspired dining room. I love the dining room decor! Or, have your snacks in the seating area outside. There are many events that take place at the museum throughout the year, from story-telling and plays to different displays of artwork. Only recently, I attended a guided roof tour which I found extremely interesting and insightful. Other events I've attended include two 'Music in the Museum' classical and jazz concerts on a Sunday afternoon. All in all, spending time inside the museum is a fun and enjoyable way to learn about Luton's history.

Interesting museum in beautiful surroundings. The building never feels stuffy as it has huge bay windows looking out onto the gardens and parkland. Cafe and toilets. Friendly helpful staff are always about. Have been coming here for decades, with first children and now grandchildren. I come here now for walks and runs as part of fitness regime.

A lovely house, Museum . The grounds are lovely and the ceiling in parts of this place are really lovely. It has always been a favourite place of mine to visit over the years. Lots of different sections of interest in here to look at with a lot of detailed information to read. You can't just visit this place once and get the full sense of history , you need to go back a few times to fully appreciate this place. The staff here a very friendly and always helpful . A great museum for Luton.

I must say we just popped in here to use the toilets whilst walking the river Lee. I was surprised how interesting the place looked. Loads to see and definitely will be back.

Free entry, and beautiful sights. Only shame was that the upstairs was closed for the time being, but despite that the sights downstairs made up for it. The cafe downstairs is also splendid. The mice hunt is also a wonderful touch for the little ones!

A great museum to visit and explore. Looks fantastic after the renovation. It was good before too, but now it is fab. It is nice to learn some local history, especially from the books they have in the library room, where you can see photos of areas in Luton and compare them to modern day. There are some fantastic activities running during the holidays for children. The video displays are also very informative. It feels like you've stepped back in time which, for a museum, is hitting the nail on the head. Great gardens and lake to see and walk around after the museum visit. The cafe is also good, serves a variety of foodstuffs.

WoW. That was good decision to visit this place. Small museum and art galery. You can find many information about Luton from back days. Today was also penguin hunt for kids, witch keep them atend to seroinding, then adults could just travel in time. If You never been there just pop in. Free car park and free entrance. Good spend time with family. 5+stars

A beautiful house that has been tastefully renovated to display a selection of local history items and information. It is very interactive throughout so the kids can really get involved. It is set within a beautiful park so would be a lovely place to spend the day picnicking and exploring. Those visiting with children - don't miss out on the hide and squeak trail :-) Free entry, lovely little tea room and very freindly and helpful staff.

A very nice museum and warm welcome on entry. Wardown House redeemed what was otherwise a miserable trip to miserable Luton. Very interesting exhibits and a pleasant taste live in the Victorian era. Superb cafe as well in a very lush dining area.

We came across this hidden gem of English Heritage whilst walking in the park and were pleasantly surprised by the fact that it is free and so well maintained. A warm, polite lady who volanteers there greeted us and gave a us guide of the place. It has nice paintings and old artifacts from Edwardian and Victorian era and also stuff from the 2 World Wars. There is a nice cosy cafe in there too. Definately worth a visit.

Took my son and his friend to the Warden museum house of horrors and they loved it. Kept their interest and was made exciting for them. He wants to go again. At that price it was a bargain.

What a wonderful hidden gem! Lovingly looked after, a varied and thoughtful schedule of events, great mix of child and adult friendly things to do and extremely well managed. We will be back.

A lovely place to have a catch up with friends. A range of sandwiches and cakes available along with tea and coffee. They had a Christmas quiz on the tables for those who want to test their knowledge, which was a nice touch.

Great museum and park with lots for children, including a mouse hunt to take them round the museum. My granddaughter and I thoroughly enjoyed going round the museum. It’s been significantly enhanced over the years too compared to when I took my boys 20 or so years ago and my grandfather took me even longer ago!! And the staff were all so friendly too! Well worth a visit!

Interesting museum displaying the history of the Luton area and millinery. Interactive exhibits and audio presentations made it good for children. Knowledgeable and helpful staff on site. Cafe in the decorated in an interesting style. Set in a very nice park with a large lake, arboretum and room for children to play. Curiously quiet when I visited on a Sunday morning and one of the two on site car parks was only half full. Worth visiting.

Really interesting museum on the history of Luton, lots of items to look at and a good written commentary on the displays. Only takes an hour or so but there is also the very excellent cafe to spend some time relaxing and having a coffee in. We had afternoon tea for a birthday celebration and it was rather good with brilliant staff. Highly recommended!

I've lived in and around Luton for some years and can't believe I've never been here! What a fantastic place full of history and stories. I think I spent most of my time wandering around with my mouth open, and my most used phrase being, "did you see that?" Do yourself a favour and spend some time there getting an education, no excuse not to as it's also Free!!

Took 2 eldest grandaughters, and was warmly welcomed when we walked in..they had a 'mouse trail' for the children to do as you go round the exhibits...cafe was good, not particularly cheap, but in a beautiful room in the Museum... definitely on for a return visit

Haven't been here in a very long time. I was one of the helpers on a school trip. It was really good to see the inside of the house, I'd forgotten how big it is. The kids had a great time and we're really well behaved. There is a little tea shop if you get thirsty and it's a very pleasant place to go to and you might even learn something new

I have visited this place a few times in the past six months. Every time has been a good experience. There is a good range of objects on display. It's very quiet on weekday mornings if you're like me and enjoy peace and quiet whilst wandering around the museum. I stopped in the cafe for a cuppa this morning and there was a young girl with black rimmed glasses serving who was lovely.

  • 5/5 Kaleel B. 4 years ago on Google
Nice cafe, interesting little items to look at, and a generally quiet/calm atmosphere. kids enjoy playing hide and squeak (I think that's what it's called - they have a list of knitted mice to find around the museum). Have been coming here since I was a child and still find something interesting to read.

Great little gem, free museum - offering a wealth of local and social information. Large interesting section covering the local millinery history. Museum is in a beautiful house set in maintained parkland

Very good. But no bar. I didn't say it last night but maybe meet at the White House. You can drink as much tea or coffee as you want for £1.30. Or buy a beer. And we could go out and have a look at the buildings that we have just talked about. Wot do you think??

Disappointing! We arrived at 15:50 on Saturday to take the kids on a special outing with their school teddy only to be turned away saying that the museum closes at 4pm in winter months - shows 5pm on Google search & maps. Added to that I dropped my phone on the floor as I was getting out of the car in the parking lot, which landed on a used condom. So disgusting!! Such a pity as we were really looking forward to visiting the museum, the grounds and house from the outside looked lovely.
