Small but cute historical museum, my kids enjoyed the tour and explored the history of Rochester. It was free and surely worth to pop in if you visit Rochester.

Very nice museum in the city of Rochester. 😊 It took us around 45 minutes - 1 hour to see everything. Worth a visit for anyone interested in the history of Rochester as well as Charles Dickens life.

Wonderful museum. Small, but packed with information and artifacts from the local area. Staff are friendly and helpful. Lots of information about Charles Dickens, his life, loves and death. Lovely, enjoyable & educational museum. Update: I returned to the museum with my friend and they have added the Hulks exhibition. We loved it! I highly recommend.

Well packed free museum with exhibits ranging from prehistoric archeological artifacts to paintings, and an immersive life size reconstruction of the type of prison hulk once used on the river Medway. The displays are informative but easy to read and there's a good variety in the subject matter to keep everyone engaged. Opening hours are 10:00 - 17:00 Tuesday - Saturday. From the outside, the building itself is one of the more distinctive on the High Street and it's worth spending a few moments to appreciate the 17th century architecture.

Cute little free museum, the 'hulk' rooms in particular (think prison, not the incredible) we're really interesting.

Loved it. This is a free museum and well maintained. Step back in history. We parked in the paid parking near by and walked down to the museum. Rochester cathedral is 3 min away. The street has some amazing antique type shops.

The guildhall museum is the perfect setting for a marriage ceremony. I recently attended the wedding of my niece and soon to be nephew in law .It was a splendid occasion with guests arriving from all four corners of the globe. The guildhall staff were more than accommodating and made the ceremony feel relaxed and inclusive..I couldn't recommend this place enough

For a free museum, we had a great time and I'd well say that it's worth a visit. He spent a good hour walking round the whole place, and a lot of the exhibits were interactive, so it was a great place to bring kids. Some of the historical torture stuff involving the dockside prisons might be a bit strong for children, so visit with caution. The preservation of the old paintings and artifacts from the towns is particularly good for any history buffs.

From the front we had no idea what this might contain but it was free to visit so we were curious and decided to visit. The exhibits surpassed all expectations. Really fascinating and interesting. The hulk experience is atmospheric and quite exciting. Child visitors seemed to be enjoying this also. The Guildhall function room was set up for a wedding but we could see in and that looked amazing. The layout flows well from topic to topic and makes the building seem much larger than it is. Worth a donation.

Amazing little museum. Had a great afternoon out with my family. The Guildhall has some great exhibits and delves into the history of the Medway towns very well. I've lived in Medway pretty much all my life and I still learnt something new.

Took my class for a historic toy workshop. The awe and wonder in the room. Jermery was fantastic with the children and had them all hooked!

Took our older grandchildren 18/20 to visit. We all found the experience both informative and a surprisingly well laid out. The hulks was particularly well done given a great impression of the time in a small area.

This museum is a must. It has varied exhibits housed in this 17th century, grade one listed building, including archeological items from 200,000 years ago, life size prison hulks and fine examples of French prisoner's craftwork. I would highly recommend, and it's free

A nice little museum telling you all about the Medways history. I was surprised to see Chas & Dave (Pictured) immortalised in the shipping section. It's free and situated on the Rochester High Street. Go see.

An EXCELLENT free museum with welcoming and friendly staff. The highlight today was the three floors of a replica prison hulk where prisoners would have been imprisoned on the River Medway.

An excellent hidden gem that is a must visit! The museum was much bigger than we expected and had something for everyone to enjoy, while providing a comprehensive history of the area.

Such an amazing place! Took our children to visit and they had a Halloween trail to follow with things for them to fill out. The kids had so much fun finding all the bits on the trail and got to see and learn about history too. Staff were really friendly and enthusiastic with the children. If you haven't been here before, it's a must see for anyone interested in history.

This is a great little gem of a museum outlining the history of Rochester and the Medway area. We particularly liked the Charles Dickens section, the Medway and the "Hulks" sections. Well worth a visit.

Amazing and informative museum, such a treat to see a building in some parts as it was hundreds of years ago. Guides were lovely and very informed on practically anything you could ask about.

Great outing for kids. Lots of local history. Love the shop where you can buy crystals fossils and other keepsakes. Best of all it's free you can visit as many times as you like.

Haven't been since I was a child and actually really enjoyed it again but with my own children this time. Loved the Charles dickens section! Definitely worth checking out if your stuck for something to do. Plus it's free. The 2 ladies that worked there were too busy having a chat but the man that served us at the beginning and helped us with the trail was super helpful and friendly! 😊
