We went as a family along with our furry friend. The location was perfect for us as we were en route to Dover. The room was neat and tidy. The bathroom decor was dated but the facilities were good including the power of the shower. We had the lake view room with laminate flooring. Our dog was well trained however it was reassuring still that we had the option to wipe the floor clean in case of any mishap. The highlight was a fantastic breakfast and a great service by all of the team. We certainly will recommended and we probabaly will return on our next trip to Europe.

Nice hotel in picturesque setting on a couple of lakes. Nice vibe with Friendly staff. The hotel is good with a reception area, bar and TVs with seating and outdoor seating. You can eat outside but if their is a wedding on which their usually is, outside is restricted though you can still use it on the far section, though does feel slightly like you shouldn't be their. Their is also a dining room and a bigger breakfast room, the dining room is where you might have an evening meal but it's also the room used for breakfast for people with dogs. The breakfast is very good with a big selection on cereals, porridge, toast, tea and coffee etc and you also order a cooked meal when the waiter/ress comes to you. The rooms are good I'd would definitely recommend the lakeside room with patio and outside seating! The room looks out onto the lakes and the wildfowl like ducks and coots come right up to you. The lakes are used by fisherman and although you can see them their not to much of a distraction. The outside area is very nice indeed with nice sunsets if your lucky. I would definitely stay again but would make sure their wasn't a themed night or wedding(as special as it is) it's just theirs large groups and can disturb your sleep with talking, doors banging into the night etc just changed the vibe I was seeking.

Has great potential, really nice lake But needs a serious cash injection, the price is very similar priced to competitors that are clean/modern looking, my biggest complaint is for the size of the room why is there such a tiny television in the room? I'm guessing 19inch most computer screens are larger these days, 32inch is considered a normal small TV Our pillows were covered in hair and this was addressed professionally thank you for that. The bathroom is so dated, the baths are dangerous even with the band aid slip mats as a solution, The general furniture in the room looks like it was free on Facebook marketplace. your staff are very friendly 👍but they don't look happy to be here. and with a good investment this place has got massive potential.

Was meant to write this after we stayed. we went to relax and do some work. It was perfect for this. I do think some guests should manage their expectations as you get what you pay for. It is not perfect but tbh We actually felt the hotel was good value for money. Room was lush with lake view and outdoor seating. Staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. We ate dinner from outside and the bar closes at usual hours, after that you only have a vending machine. Breakfast suited us for our needs. We would stay again! My only thought would be to get a feather duster onto the cobwebs, however my party who stayed thought it added to the character. * can’t please everyone *

I was a wedding videographer here twice in a weekend. The staff were lovely and attentive to both myself and other suppliers as well as the hotel guests and wedding party.. Everything ran smoothly. The exterior of the building doesn't do it justice to the lakes and interior. Stunning venue with staff who couldn't be more helpful. I'd highly recommend in all aspects! I even got to taste the bar menu for my dinner which was lovely!

Little tricky to find needed one more direction board. Very friendly staff nothing was too much trouble. Food basic but well presented. Hotel decor looking a little tired, great view over lake. Would be very happy to stay again.

The South Asian waitress at the breakfast buffet was not so professional. She asked the table next to us if they would like any extra sausages, bacon or egg but we were not asked. I gave her benefit of doubt and approached her politely asking for extra sausage for my 8 year old. She just told me abruptly that you only get 6 items in buffet and if you want more, you can have toast as much as you like. To me she behaved in a way which seemed to be discriminatory. I did complain at the reception and gave feedback form on checkout.. The lady at reception politely told me that you can get extra but it is charged. I am now furious as the lady at the breakfast didn't even give the option to pay and buy and just directed me to the toasts. In the room 231, one of the dressor light was not functioning and one of the bedside lamp had bulb missing. The hotel is dog friendly and I don't have issue with that but when we stepped out of the hotel, we found a bed bug or a flea in our jacket which was hanging in the room cupboard and sometimes on bed . This has rendered us in a situation that as soon as we came back, we have to put everything in wash and spray things and suitcase as infestation of these things in home can be very daunting. My little one had bug bite marks on her body. Overall, these little things will keep me away from the hotel even though there is lovely staff at the reception and lovely location.

We got married at The Inn on the Lake back in June 2023 and words cannot describe what an amazing day we had! The staff at the Inn throughout the whole wedding process, but particularly on the day, went above and beyond for us to make our day extra special! You could just see how much thought had gone into everything. If anything did go wrong on our wedding day, we certainly did not know about it - Natalie and Laura were always one step ahead with everything, not only keeping us to time but also make suggestions throughout our day to elevate it even more! Our day was perfect and we owe that to the staff at the hotel. All our guests commented on what a beautiful venue it is, and not forgetting how amazing the food was. The gardens and lakes are just beautiful! Many of our guest stayed over and they all commented on how excellent the rooms were and the brilliant breakfast! I had the bridal getting ready room the night before our wedding which was perfect for the girls and I to get ready in and has plenty of natural light for photos! Then after our wedding we stayed in the bridal suite, we loved the doors that took you out onto the lakes, and even more so that the morning after the wedding we was able to sit outside and meet up with some of our family members in neighbouring rooms for a cup of tea! I would highly recommend The Inn on the Lake as a wedding venue, but also if you are just considering staying over! No matter the reason for your visit, the friendly staff, well maintained rooms and excellent food will certainly impress you! Thank you to The Inn on the Lake again for the most perfect wedding day!

Handy location, rooms are very dated but the beds are super comfy. Breakfast is nice as well, small portions but good quality sausages and bacon. Considering the price definately worth it, much better than other budget larger chain hotels

Went there for a 70's/80's Xmas disco and meal. The meal was excellent and was served piping hot. All waiting staff were very efficient and served and cleared away very quickly. Disco was enjoyed by all, with a good range of music.

The hotel has plenty of free parking. Some of the staff are very friendly and helpful, but others not so great. The room was very tired and the bathroom was really horrible. It was clean enough, but really past it's sell by date. On the upside the breakfast was lovely.

Room was clean and comfortable but dated. Facilities are very basic and some were not working. Housekeeping was sub par...bar glasses and bottles not removed from the room and only very basic cleaning daily. We were there for 3 nights. Breakfast was a disaster on all 3 mornings. Waiting for between 35 and 50 minutes, orders were lost and had to be reordered, food cold on arrival. Other guests walked out as they hadn't been served at all. One disabled guest waited 2 hours for 2 croissants.

I have never ever received such poor unprofessional service. Check in was 3pm we got in the room at 3.55. Explained we were on tight schedule. Service poor, food poor, unprofessional staff. Rooms dirty and towels were not delivered until 4.55pm when we needed to leave at 5pm...all this and we paid £106 per room....give it a wide birth

First visit to this hotel, even though been driving past it for the last 20+ years. Upon arrival first impressions, hotel looks a bit dated but spacious. There was ample free parking, the check in process was friendly and efficient. Rooms rather dated but spacious and clean, that's the most important thing. Breakfast in the morning included in price of our stay, included a good selection of cereals, toast, marmalade, jams and honey. Fruit juices, tea and coffee. We opted for a Full English breakfast, on the small side - but everything cooked well and delivered hot.🙂 Walked around the lake after breakfast, bought some duck feed and got up close and personal with the wildlife. Lovely sunny crisp morning, the lake and wildlife and flowers all beautiful. Lovely scenery and very peaceful. We booked 2 x rooms, thoroughly enjoyed our stay, from start to finish. Great value for money, clean and spacious rooms. Friendly staff. We will be back soon. 👍

Place is very dated. Room had nice view of the lakes thats the only good thing I can say about this place. Room hadn't been cleaned that well massive cob web behind toilet door. Evening meal Fish dry and over cover tartar sauce grainy. Breakfast I would 100% avoid. Full English Beans cold Grilled tomatoe cold. They put it on a small plate to make it look more. Certainly will be going back

I recently visited a lake, and I was pleasantly surprised by the value that I received for my money. During the colder months, I imagine the lake would be a great place to visit as well. I also heard a couple in the room above us engaging in some passionate activities at least twice. The creaky beds and thin walls of the hotel added to the experience, and it sounded like the lady was having a great time. Unfortunately, my stay wasn't as enjoyable as the one above me. The mattress was quite uncomfortable, which caused me and my partner to wake up multiple times. I already have a bad shoulder and back, so the mattress only made things worse. The staff members could have been more friendly, as well. I understand that they're probably on minimum wage and don't get treated very well, but even a simple smile at breakfast would have gone a long way. Overall, I had an interesting experience at the lake. Despite the lack of enthusiasm from the staff and the uncomfortable bed, the value was good and I'm sure I would have enjoyed it even more during the summer months.

Served us well for our three nights. Bed was comfortable but why, when there are only 50 people staying in such a large hotel, do they put you in a room with thin walls next to other people. Evening meals were adequate. Location was perfect for our needs.

The Inn on the Lake is an absolute gem in the heart of Kent. From the moment you arrive, the stunning lakeside setting takes your breath away. The rooms are spacious, well-appointed, and offer incredible views. What truly sets this hotel apart is the staff—they are attentive, welcoming, and go out of their way to make your stay memorable. The dining experience is also top-notch, with a variety of delicious options to choose from. Whether it’s a romantic getaway or a family vacation, the Inn on the Lake provides an idyllic backdrop for a perfect stay. Highly recommended!

Me and my newly married wife stayed in the bridal room the service was amazing the room was spot on. We woke up to an amazing view of the lake that made the double hot tub experience out of this world. The breakfast in bed was the icing on the cake for us both. The staff were extremely helpful

Stayed here for my wedding night. Booked the room with a lake view. Not much of a lake view as massive tree in the way. Breakfast was poor. They don’t have much variety and didn’t have the veggie sausage when I was there. Had to pay for late check out cos I wanted to stay extra 2 hours £15 extra. They didn’t offer much as it was my wedding night. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone else

A quiet and peaceful place, just in time for rest and relaxation. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Mrs. Agnieszka who made our stay even more enjoyable. We will definitely come back here for longer.

This is a REALLY nice hotel! Limited food menu and routine brekkie but the grounds are gorgeous and the rooms are very nice. Highly recommended with easy access. Probs a good wedding venue if you’re into entering a contract with the state but I just went with my 4 year old who dressed as Thor for breakfast.

A really lovely overnight stay. The decor is quite old fashioned but everything was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The food was okay, I enjoyed breakfast. The grounds are stunning and I had a beautiful view. Dog-friendly and also duck-friendly. I would stay again.

On the whole very good value for money. Lovely rooms, especially overlooking the lake. I didn't mind the older decor, quaint and we'll maintained, very clean. Bath could do with handrails for us elderly shower users. Great bar food but would have liked to have a proper restaurant.

A nice hotel that is in lovely surroundings with great potential. The outdoor dinning is beautiful with the lake, trees and fairy lights. The staff are welcoming and the resturant is good. The only down side is that the rooms decor is really dated. My room was very clean but old fashioned. I would stay here again :)

  • 4/5 Randall H. 2 years ago on Google
Great friendly staff. Good clean rooms well appointed. Bed was a little hard along with the pillows, but comfy enough. Huge bathtub but the shower was weak, low water pressure but manageable. Food was nice.

Had afternoon tea here this week. The set up was lovely and the food was as expected. However I was slightly disappointed that having paid ahead for this and discussed with a member of staff that one of the attendees is vegetarian, there was still an equal amount of meat sandwiches, meaning that her dietary preference had not actually been observed.

The location was much closer to the motorway then expected but thankfully I'd booked a lake view, and from that side you couldn't hear the road. Driving in I was struck by the faded sign and holes in road then tatty entrance door and thought I'd made a bad choice. Yes the Inn is dated inside, it smelled like cooking oil and friers. However the receptionists welcomed me very nicely and directed me to my room. The lift was a bit jerky and load as well as being very dirty but once in my very big room it had everything I needed. Yes, it was old fashioned, the beds and furniture are a bit tired. The bathroom is very dated but it was all clean and I had the window open so I could hear the ducks. Dinner included a large selection of options, I enjoyed it all and it was well presented and quick to serve. The only thing I didn't like was my fork had dents in the prongs, not the nicest sensation. The lighting was also a bit dark. Breakfast has a good selection, the cooked breakfast was OK.. small but there is fruit etc to fill up on. All in all the venue is dated, there is small things that I am sure are in hand. The staff on duty were though

Highlight: spectacular views overlooking the lake where I took breakfast. The property is quite dated in decor although clean and comfortable. Some of the staff were friendly and helpful, however some were stand-offish. Food: breakfast was excellent with a variety of English and continental foods. Evening meal: would not recommend. Very expensive for what you get. My guest and I opted for the battered fish and chips. Lots of soggy batter and no fish, and not fresh. Birds Eye from the supermarket would have been better. If the hotel had a make-over, personality injection for some of the staff, and a Ramsey makeover for the menu this would be an excellent hotel worthy of top stars.

The staff are lovely and were incredibly helpful and nice throughout our short stay. I was really, really impressed. Sadly, the rooms themselves are a little dated with walls that are essentially paper thin. This makes for some excellent people watching (listening?) so may be a positive for some. The ground floor lake view rooms have lovely big glass doors that open onto a pretty lake. Be warned that the hotel path around the lake runs right past the window. A nice way to make some friends perhaps, but a bit of a shock all round when other guests come strolling past and make eye contact as you enjoy a siesta. Although dated the rooms were clean. Some marks deducted for the half smoked roll up left in a drawer.

Attended a 70s tribute night and had a fabulous time. Lovely grounds, very relaxing to sit by the lake and look at the wildlife. Food was delicious and served hot (which I was impressed by as there was at least a 100 people there). Soup was one of the best ones I’ve had in years. Portions were a good size. Staff was smiling and polite. Tribute band itself was ok and the in house DJ was fantastic. We danced the night away. Didn’t stay overnight so cannot comment on the rooms.

Stayed here the night before my wedding in the honeymoon suite. The room was fab and the jet tub was amazing but the other bathroom was dated and in general the hotel needs refreshing slightly and bringing a bit more up to date but the food was delicious and the staff were all friendly and helpful. Room rates are extremely reasonable too.

Nothing bad to say about this place it's just a standard 3. Stayed here as was at a wedding near by. Great night sleep breakfast included for the price can't go wrong. Rooms nothing fancy dated but Clean, Spacious, Comfy bed, Nice shower & Free parking what more do you want for a over night stay.

  • 2/5 Jan D. 1 year ago on Google
Attended the 80’s tribute night at the weekend and had a room booked to stay overnight. Sadly the first room allocated fell way short of standards - bathroom ceiling covered in black mould as was the shower curtain rail. Bath had chunks of enamel missing. Plastic toilet seat came off in my hand and the ceiling light/fan was not working. Friendly and apologetic reception staff allocated us another room which was was only marginally better in that the loo seat was in place and it had slightly less mould in the bathroom but still not as clean as I would expect. No extractor fans in the bathrooms or windows so mould is always going to be an issue. Food - this was underwhelming and not good value for money. It was cold and served a lot later than expected leaving only 2 hours to enjoy the DJ and live music. Entertainment: Although an 80’s night with a decade worth of songs to choose from, the first song was from the 90’s (Peter Andre) and we also had the 70’s thrown in? Why? DJ was ok…. Live singer not so good. Location: Stunning views of the lake if you get a room on the right side of the hotel.

Had my wedding here and the events team could not have been more helpful if they tried, they accommodated my needs and wants through the whole process and made the day run so smoothly, The toastmaster supplied for our day was absolutely brilliant also. my only concern was not having a food tasting session, but i was offered tickets to one of their events nights to have a meal which i could not attend (included in my package), but i need not of worried as the food was lovely and everyone said it was a tasty meal. I will be going back for dinner. The buffet was also of great standard. myself and my husband are so glad we chose to have our wedding here, great staff, great food and amazing scenery , highly recommend

Was very disappointed with the hotel. The lake view was fantastic but there was no mention of the very busy road on the other side of the hotel, our room was on this side and too noisy to have your window open. The car park outside our window was full of vans and lorries that left at 6 to 6.30 am. The rooms and bathrooms were very dated and need a complete revamp, our friends toilet did not stop flushing and the bath had chunks of the enamel missing. The hotel dining room was closed it said due to covid???? Yes you can get bar snack food but not what we wanted!! The breakfast was really good, lots of choice. I was really disappointed especially as I had booked this for 3 couples and as a surprise for a 70th birthday.

Everyone expects something to go wrong on their wedding day, but we can honestly say nothing went wrong and we had the most perfect wedding day at the Inn on the Lake. We couldn't have asked for the day to go any better than it did and that was down to the excellent event management skills of Natalie and her team. Nothing was too much and Natalie did everything to make sure it was an amazing day for everyone. Having a room the night before to get ready for the big day was brilliant, we weren't rushed and had a lovely morning preparing for the afternoon. The wedding ceremony under the gazebo in front of the lake looked magical, the room and tables were prefect, food was brilliant and the staff were lovely, we were looked after well from beginning to end. The evening hog roast, we're told was amazing, we actually missed this as we were pulled from pillar to post all evening making sure we spoke to as many people as possible. The DJ was great, getting the dancefloor filled as much as possible too. Then after the most perfect day, having the bridal room to go back to was bliss, although having an early flight the next day we didn't get to enjoy the jacuzzi or the breakfast in bed. We had the best day, all of our guests enjoyed their time as much as we did and for that we both thank you all very much. The Inn on the Lake is the most beautiful setting, with the most attentive team, you will not be disappointed and you will have an incredible wedding day!

We stayed here for 5 nights with 2 friends. The location is fabulous and we ate here 4 nights outside overlooking the lake - wonderful. The food was good quality although several items were unavailable. We could not fault the breakfasts. Every member of staff we were in contact with were lovely. Very helpful, polite and smiled all the time. However, the decor leaves a bit to be desired. The bedrooms were very tired and outdated. If addressed this hotel would be 5 star.

I spent 2 nights the first week and 3 nights the second week followed by 2 nights the 3rd week, for business purposes. The food was good, the staff delightful and most helpful and the rooms were comfortable, especially when I had beautiful views of the lake behind the hotel. When the room was at the front looking onto the carpark with the busy A2 beyond, I was surprised how effective the soundproofing was. I slept well every night. I would recommend this hotel without any reservations on my part. I commuted into East London every day. Sometimes there were traffic holdups on the A2 but it was worth it to return to the peaceful tranquility of the hotel and lake.
