Stopped here with my wife for an evening meal. Atmosphere was nice and the staff were friendly. Ordered food and was brought out quite quickly. Whilst the quality of the food was very good, the quantity for the price wasn't as good. Burger and chips 16.95 and steak and chips 27.00 Was expecting more than a small bowl of chips. And with the steak just one medium sized mushroom with one tomato. Could understand this if was table service, but as was sat in the garden had to order at the bar.

Seafood platter was amazing, compliments to the chef. The waiting staff are a bit too shy and not overly welcoming! Front of house are the most important staff in a restaurant, focus on this and the restaurant could become better. Very nice place nevertheless!

Came for a nice drink in the garden as we have done many a time, only on entering the pub the girl at the bar was very unwelcoming, unapproachable and rude. No eye contact or smile, and chose not to communicate with us other than with her back to us, asked if we were eating. My partner asked for a glass of water after ordering our other drinks, and she literally said nothing, just made the drink and put it down on the bar for him to take. It’s amazing how far a simple friendly face and hi/hello as a welcome can go, especially when I’m sure the management want their customers to return!

We came today for Father's day. Have to say despite the fact the pub is lovely, the menu wasn't great and over priced. My husband, who it was for was hugely disappointed as for Mothers day we went elsewhere, which was much better value for money. I spent nearly Β£100 for 6 of us (1 drink and food) and have still now got to cook tonight. The idea was good but unfortunately the food wasn't very nice or good value for money. It was served promptly, so we only stayed for an hour! Bit of a shame.

Excellent, had a very nice meal, double burger, and chips and a pint of Guinness. Very good service, we were looked after by a team of very efficient ladies. This was the first time we had visited the Leather Bottle.

A lovely little pub with a great atmosphere and a wonderful team. We spent a few hours here playing games etc and enjoyed their varied drinks menu and impressive cocktail list. The food left a little to be desired - We had the beef burger, the chicken burger, the vegan burger, the Thai curry, nachos and the steak pie. All were so so apart from the pie and nachos which were delicious. Would come back for drinks and nachos definitely.

Great pub with friendly, helpful staff. They were having a BBQ and I got served one of the biggest burgers I've ever had. Highly recommended.

I hadn't been to the Leather Bottle for a meal for some years. The menu appeared to be completely different, and I struggled to find something I wanted to eat, but both my companion and I settled for the chicken and bacon Caesar salad, which was excellent. Prices are quite high, but, on this occasion, acceptable. I regret the disappearance of baguettes, which were a highlight of the "lighter" side of the menu, but understand that too many were being wasted, hence the change. Other options are available, but not to my taste, and the couple of sandwich options are priced well above value.

Enjoyed a pint or two here. Good atmosphere. For once not dominated by β€œthat table is reserved for people who are eating”. Friendlier reception than I have had in the past. It’s an incredibly atmospheric pace oozing with history. Just sometimes they forget that deprivation is built on the people who pay their money now, not by the fact the Dickens enjoyed it a long time ago. Not this time. Was a really welcoming experience. Hope they continue to deliver like this.

A beautiful building, Very friendly staff. The breakfast was good and a great selection of food for lunch and dinner. A nice garden area to enjoy a drink or two. Thank you for a lovely stay.

You don't find many traditional pubs these days. Reasonable closing times, lovely bedroom we got to stay in. Didn't have dinner there just breakfast, I'm fussy so I'm not even commenting on that as I'm the issue not the pub, I would be happy with a plate of chips and beans for breakfast lol, but it is a good old fashioned traditional pub

Lovely pub, very rustic inside. Lots of history attached to it. Nice garden area and plenty of car parking. Drinks reasonably priced and food prices seemed on par with other pubs I've visited. Didn't eat here today but what we saw coming out looked good and plentiful.

Been coming here for years, lovely old pub and a quiet village. Great atmosphere and food was good But........ Please bring back all the proper pub grub, good menu for a evening meal but lunch time you might want something lighter. I.e the nice sandwiches you used to do.

Visited for Sunday lunch! Lots of reserved tables indoors but plenty of space in the garden. Sunday lunch menu is reasonable - beef roast great and generous kids roast options! Bar small but orders taken quickly. All in all not much service to comment on but was a nice enough spot!

Very friendly service and excellent choice of menu, we actually stayed and met friends for Sunday lunch. Don't bring heavy luggage as there are very steep stairs what do you expect, Dickens slept in our room (2) so the place is ancient. Dog friendly certainly no restrictions in the rooms only in the restaurant, as usual we were in the Bar with lot's of nice people with dog's the food was very good, l had the suet pudding very tasty.

I went with 2 friends, but unfortunately we were disappointed with our evening. The restaurant was cold, and food wasn't much warmer either. There wasn't a lot of atmosphere, as we were the only diners in our area, but that's not the pubs fault. We felt the toilets were run down and needed a bit of a refurb. It was a shame as the pub has a good reputation. And the wine was very expensive, Β£9 for a 250ml glass of white.

Absolutely lovely! Warm welcome, excellent food, good ale, efficient service. Not just country pub grub,, top shelf πŸ‘Œ We'll be back. My elderly father in law had the time of his life with all the old curio's 😁

Lovely country pub with lots of history. We ordered sandwiches at lunch time but had to ask if they had a lunch menu as only the main menu was provided. The bread was so stale it was mostly inedible, not what I would expect for Β£10 a pop. The three staff hanging around at the bar didn't ask how are food was so we felt like we couldn't even say. I ordered a white wine spritz and it arrived filled to the brim with lemonade like some kind of wine cocktail, the waitress laughed at it's ridiculousness and still gave it to me as if I would still want to drink it....which I didn't. We spent nearly Β£40 on what I can only say was an awful lunch and a waste of money. A really shame as this has been a great pub in the past.

I love the leather bottle! The perfect village pub with so much character, the Sunday roasts are 10/10. My other half and I were served by the lovely Jade on Tuesday night, we popped in for a couple of drinks and she was a fantastic welcoming friendly face and super helpful. Fully recommend cosy drinks snuggled on the sofa out the back near the fire - it’s actually making me look forward to winter! Emma R πŸ₯°

Friendly beautiful country pub/hotel. We have spent a memorable evening and overnight stay there! Great food and so tasty though would appreciate larger platter portions. The room was so cosy and comfortable. The whole environment was steeped in history, it really is a gem!!! Definitely going back!!!

Arrived with a party (4 adults, 4 children and 2 dogs), I believe he was the owner who greeted us explained that our table was indoors and its table service which was perfect as it would have been harder to get to the bar (thank you for making that decision, it made it much easier for us). We put the dogs on the inside of the table but it wouldn't have been a problem to have them on the outside, ordered Sunday lunch and asked what the vegetarian option was and the waitress wasn't sure but when she found out it was a nut roast that was a winner for us, beautiful presentation, the cabbage could have been cooked for a bit longer. The larger waitress (don't mean to be rude but didn't get her name) she was absolutely fantastic with the kids, really good waitress with us all too. The bar man was helpful and friendly, a mistake was made with a drink and I jokingly said if its going to waste then I'll have it, ie pay for it but that was a no charge. Thank you :) Keep up the good work, we shall return again soon!
