A hotel apartment should provide best of both, hotel service with comforts of home/apartment. This hotel apartment lacked both. The apartment on 4th floor was really nice with wonderful views but no wall mirrors in the whole 2 bed apartment, not even in the bathrooms. There was only a make up mirror mounted on the wall in the bathroom. It was very difficult to the hair and get ready without mirrors. The beds were not comfortable at all. There were barely any utensils in the kitchen and pans were not washed. There was a wire coming out of the wall in the hallway. I wouldn’t go to this hotel apartment again.

My partner and I stayed in room 102 on Saturday 3rd December. The room was great and bed was lovely, very clean! I do not usually go to the extent of writing a bad review however, the lady at the front desk was so unbelievably unprofessional - I am embarrassed that my mum bought this for my Christmas gift. She seemed as if she couldn’t care less about customers or her job, was very rude and did not at one point make us feel comfortable. From the moment we stepped foot into the hotel to the second we left, we have very awkward vibes and service from her. We arrived and she had no general hospitality manors, was vaping in the bar area and couldn’t even be bothered to tell us what was included the breakfast the next morning. When I asked, her response was, ‘well it’s literally a full English’. Myself and my partner had to get our room key checked 6 times, as she kept forgetting to put it onto our room. We had a late check out and was clearly put in the early check out side, as there was a band ‘practice’ directly below us which forced us to leave early. My mum had kindly ordered us champagne to our room before we arrived, we didn’t even receive any glasses… some of these issues would’ve been ok , but as there were so many, they couldn’t be ignored unfortunately. We will never stay here again, I work in hospitality and I wouldn’t dream of allowing someone to feel the way that my partner and I felt.

Mother's Day massacre at the Clarendon Royal Hotel. I thought we'd accidentally stumbled into someone else's wedding, but no drama as looks can often be deceiving. After around 30 minutes of sitting parched, we had to prompt one of the few waitresses to take our drinks order. After a while of waiting around we started to notice tables around us having problems with their orders, those that got theirs. We had to get up and ask twice where our main course was, only for it to arrive lukewarm, just like the service. I find it hard to understand how poorly organised something can be when we ordered 4 days ahead of time from a set menu. One of our guests too was given a last minute replacement of her starter as she had allergies and they couldn't seemingly be bothered to source gluten-free bread. I think every table around us complained about the quality of what they received or the fact it took about an hour per course. In the end we watched at least 3 full tables leave early because their food hadn't arrived. In the end we left before our desert came. The staff weren't strictly speaking rude, but didn't seem to care at all about any of the issues we had. I'd give our experience three thumbs down, if I had another thumb.

Stayed on the first floor which was the equivalent of an oven. The only saving grace was getting a fan from reception. The fan was a standard affair with multi speed setting, height adjustment, encased in white plastic. I have similar at home. The white noise it produced helped blank the impending doom I felt as I sweated myself to sleep. Having had my window open all night I woke in the morning to someone filling up a water tank next to my window. I can only hope they didn’t see my pasty, glistening figure sprawled across the bed.

Avoid! Our room did not had blind. After a while we got another room - one of the apartments. Though this one did had blinds, the spotlight outside lid up the room. The shower was spraying everywhere. Everyday at 5am a loud noise would start, like some sort of machine turned on. There was also a weird smell through the building and in the hallway and room there were random loose electrical wires. The bed was horrible and cleanliness needed serious improvements.

We visited here for lunch; a family meal with 3 young kids and my grandmother, who handpicked the restaurant based on suitability for 3 kids. The food was good with generous portions, though the price (almost £90 for 3 adult and 3 kids meals and soft drinks). However, we arrived at 12:20, had our drinks ordered and then food ordered (slightly slowly, by 12:40-12:50 maybe), and went straight for mains. It took a while but eventually we got them, maybe by 13:20. We ate, really enjoying the food, but it was almost an hour later that we got someone to start clearing our table and taking our dessert order - well after 2pm. At 2:30pm we started asking where our desserts were and were told eventually that they had a miscommunication (implied to be related to new ownership), the chef did not know a table of 20 and a table of 11 were booked in until they arrived and that they were busy serving them (seemingly starters). Our desserts would be up to 15 more minutes. We were surprised as several bar staff were only intermittently occupied for the time we were there - our waitress was often popping out elsewhere but it did not feel like everyone was overloaded. It was a surprise that no one warned us. With young children to occupy, it had been difficult. The staff were a bit apologetic that we had had a bad experience and after asking a couple of times I got someone to process the bill (minus desserts). We decided to leave and get pudding on the Prom nearby for 1/3 of the price and to allow the kids to get out. It seems like it was an unfortunate series of events that ruined an otherwise nice meal, but the only redeeming features were nice (if expensive) food and clean bathrooms.

Great food, venue ideal. Booked for an extended family gathering for a memorial, post covid. Sensitive excellent service from arrival to departure. Dominic excelled, listened, adapted and worked expertly with all dynamics. He is one in a million NOTE I'm not reputed to praise lightly. Thankyou so much Dominic

Well the hotel looks fine from the outside and as for the inside well the restaurant/bar area looked great, they mentioned a function room but i never went there so dont know what it was honestly. There isnt much facilities there and as for going through the corridor its got decent design up until i went to the room i was staying as the heat over there not just in the hallway where my room was at but my room itself was so hot and all i was left with was a small fan that didnt blow that much wind, was pretty weak. I did find out that i was able to open the window as that got me kind of confused. My room was pretty basic and small, not much for design but the bathroom looked good

I discovered The Clarendon by chance and gotta say it's a 'hidden gem' as bar/restaurant/hotels go. A cool comfortable bar/cafe that's classy but unpretentious. Probably one of the best coffees in town...made with fresh ground coffee beans. Lovely atmosphere and highly recommended.

I had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The staff was welcoming, the rooms were cozy, and the dining was excellent. Can't wait to return.

Food was lovely, odd atmosphere, lights were only turned on after an hour of being there, staff looked completely bored.

Although my colleagues had better, the room I was given, number 204 had a number of issues. When I arrived the window was open. I realised later why. After I closed the window the smell that I had detected begin to increase and was putrid smell, of what I can only describe as a dead rodent. The room itself was incredibly hot so the window needed to remain open anyway. The T.V. also had no signal. As mentioned, my colleagues had much better experiences, In this instance I was just a little unlucky as they all had no issues. Apart from that, a nice hotel, great location and you may also get sea-views. The town centre is nearby so easy access to most things. Please do sort out the issues in room 204.

A group of 18 of us descended without notice early one morning. The staff were very accommodating, made us comfortable supplied food and drinks without any delay. The place, people, food and drinks were all lovely. We will be calling back.

Not worth it. Took too long to get breakfast, staff at breakfast seemed unsure of service, rooms smelled funny. Bar staff were good though. Go to the premier Inn instead

They made a mistake and did not have the room we had ordered. This seemes to have happened to other people if you read trip Advisor. They apparently got the river view wrong as there was a glitch in the computer system even though we had a print off of the email confirmation. Just the same nonsense about someone already in it for a few days blah blah blah as the person on Trip Advisor. No apologises of course, Breakfast was a strange affair with noise of some 200 plus items crockery items being cleared from an adjacent conference in the building. Three of the rads did not work in the flat only to find out that was because there were no fuses in the switched spur outlets.! Many of the kitchen lights did not work either. Hope less all round. Never again.

Our room was very hot but other family members had a room that was very cold. The place overall seems run down and in need of several repairs. The room itself was small with the smallest double bed I've ever slept in. The shower in the others room was cold. The location is not bad, Gravesend doesn't have much to attract people but the river views are nice.

Went to a small family wedding with just 40 people. Carparking available. The food was very good. I had a good pawn cocktail, baked cod that couldn't I fault (but my wife didn't think much of it, she said it lacked salt), and a Pavlova that was superb and sumptuous. Two of my friends have severe food allergies and were very well cared for. The reception room was perfect for 40 people, cosy but not cramp. Afterwards we danced, lighting and sound was good. The staff were all friendly, nothing was too much trouble. I'm a bit old school, the waiting staff didn't look professional. Is this a five star place? Possibly... But I didn't see the venue tested enough to give it top marks.

Dropped in around 13.00 for a cup if coffee. Absent staff eventually appeared, very helpful. Lots of used cups, glasses dumped on the bar counter. We stepped for 40-45min. No staff member was interested in tiding up used glassware 'decorating' bar top. Shame, decor quite opulent.

Mixed experiences with my family. We were a party of 20, some of us had a great meal, others hated theirs. Some of the staff couldn't be bothered to help when one of our party asked for no salad and he had to have the plate returned twice. Drinks were expensive. When it came to pay we had over £40 to pay at the end because of hidden extras or incorrectly labelled menus. We wouldn't go again.

Visited for breakfast as family members was staying over. The service was very slow. But that's down to staff shortages. The waitress was excellent considering the amount of work she had to do. I ordered poached eggs. Normally I would expect them to be a little runny. However by the time we received our breakfast. The eggs where more like hard boiled. Again I would put this down to lack of staff. These poor people working so hard for next to no money. Keep up the good work. Personally I wouldn't stay at this hotel. Going by what my family told me about the rooms.

Went for sunday lunch as a table of 12. Food was nice, but unfortunately our large group wasn't catered for very well. Drinks were slow, items were missing off of plates, some was cold. I think if you're a normal sized table, this would be great, but don't go if you're a big group
