Very centrally located restaurant with typical Belgian dishes. We had the steak and mussel and fries. Both were of great quality and good taste. The restaurant was fully booked on a friday therefore a reservation is probably recommended. The staff is very friendly and quick. We are recommending it.

Went here due to the very high reviews and the great location, and it did not let me down. I had the set menu, which is quite affordable compared to other places in the area and provided a good selection. The croquette was really good (although slightly disappointing you only get one with the set menu...) And the steak was cooked perfectly. The venue is cosy and staff members are friendly enough.

Was searching for a restaurant close to where I was staying, and walked the area the night before. I noted that De Gastro was among the most crowded of the many nearby establishments, and booked myself a reservation for the following night. Glad I did! It's a wonderful, homey space and is especially charming and romantic at night. The menu has lots of great options to choose from. I got the Flemish seafood stew and creme brulee. The stew was loaded with fish and shellfish and had a wonderful, aromatic broth that was a great accompaniment for both the seafood and the potato dollops that came with it. The dessert was excellent, though my daughter is ready to kill me as my 2 year-old grandson saw a picture of the flambe, and now wants all his desserts to be served on fire! High quality service. Appreciated that they had Oban on their whiskey list and enjoyed a couple drams with my dinner. Highly Recommended!

This restaurant is close to the city center, offering good traditional Flemish dishes like mussels, meat stew, local fish etc. Absolutely loved the paprika butter spread with bread offered on the house, before our food was ready. The sorbet dessert with Limoncello was lovely too. Friendly staff as well. Online reservation is possible and advised. Overall recommended.

Fresh and tasty salmon filet with tartar sauce. It was middle cooked so it wasn't dry. I chose potato croquettes instead of fries. They were good too. Little salad is included. I recommend this specialty. Good ambient inside.

Went to De Gastro on our last night in Brugge. We were not disappointed unlike some other restaurants which were more highly rated but ended up being quite average. We were a party of 5. The restaurant decor was inviting and fresh, and the waiter was friendly and gave us a great table. We wanted a traditional meal, and ordered mussels, and the local beef and fish stews for main courses, preceeded by entrée of Beef Carpaccio and Tomato Burrata Salad. All dishes were tasty and full of different flavours that we throughly enjoyed. The mussles were cooked perfectly in a garlic and cream sauce while the fish stew was amazing in my opinion. Service was attentive, fast and efficient. It wasn't the cheapest restaurant. But if you are looking to find traditional Brugge fare in a warm environment where you can spend quality time chatting and enjoying good food, then don't go past this place.

Review €€ - €€€ Excellent cooking skills of the chef at De Gastro. Make sure to make a reservation for lunch and dinner. The positive reputation attracts many tourists as well as locals. Beef stew 4.5: Well done and tender beef meat Fish stew 5: Superb dish with a variety of sea food Rabbit leg 5: Tender meat and good pairing of sauce and vegetables. Snail 4: Nicely earthy taste of the snails. however, the baby leaf salad was a bit too citrusy Bread 5: it's freshly baked with a soft inner crumb. Simply delicious. Service: very friendly and welcoming service Restaurant & interior design: warm and comfortable furniture and decoration with wood.

The food was amazing!! Homely Flemish food! We had the natural mussels for entree - who would’ve thought mussels could taste so delicious! We then had the red wine chicken & Flemish beef stew for mains. Chicken was so tasty and meat so tender. The Flemish beef stew was full of flavour! Bonus was we got a free small beer coupon as part of our walking tour! Couldn’t stop thinking about our meal after we left!

We ordered the Trout, Scampi Shrimp & Steak Tartar. The trout had to be dissected carefully to avoid bones, the potatoes and salad it came with were delicious. The steak tartar was very good. The scampi was also excellent. Would go again.

Nice family-run restaurant that seems very popular with locals and tourists alike. Good value for money and very friendly service. The wine selection is rather small, but the Calabretta we had was quite good. Would come back here any day. Book ahead if you can.

I had a great experience! Got the set menu, which was a ton of food for the price. It was a nice sampling of all the local flavors. Highly recommend. Service was the friendliest I experienced while here in Belgium. I’m not a great food photographer, I promise it looks even better in person. :)

Visiting Bruges for our first time. We had dinner here for our American Thanksgiving, PERFECT DINNER!! The ribeye was for two people and perfectly cooked. The fries and salad were also delicious. Probably one of the best desserts we’ve had; tiramisu 🤤

It was a great place in terms of food, drinks and service. The prices are a bit higher than average for these high standards and the central location, but this did not affect the attendance of the establishment in any way - I was lucky to find a free table without a reservation. Definitely recommend for a visit in Bruges.

Absolutely WONDERFUL meal from start to finish! We had the set meal of croquettes, Flemish stew, and creme brûlée…all were superb! Also we don’t drink alcohol and were very pleased to see two “mock tails” on the menu…the strawberry lemonade was amazing! All servers were super attentive and friendly!! Can’t wait to return on our next trip to Brugge!!

Spent a night in Bruges this past August and walked around trying to avoid the touristy places to eat and wow did we find the perfect restaurant. We had the croquettes, mussels and coq au vin and they were the best of each we’ve ever had. Beautiful restaurant and truly wonderful meal. We walked in late with no reservation and we never felt rushed. I want to return to Bruges just to go back here again.

Amazing really. We came here with no reservation for dinner on Valentine's day. Not because we were celebrating it but because we were staying in Brugge and needed a place to have dinner. We entered and were welcomed straight away and assigned a table. The restaurant is beautiful and the food is beautiful and delicious. The menu is not extremely long (thank god for that) but has a good variety of options. The service is also in line with the food :) We loved everything and the family recipe for Tiramisu is something else!!

Amazing food and service. I was with a baby and the staffs helped our pram up the entrance steps, got us a spot where I can park the pram right by the table, on top of that they brought us a high chair. Such a stress free dining experience with baby. Last but not least, beef tartare was divine delicious! Ordered a coffee and got little treats with it too. Nice surprises all the way.

We wanted to try some traditional dishes. Ended up ordering the ribbs and the rabbit leg. Both were delicious! The prices are reasonable, and the service was faster than other restaurants we have been in Brugge. The homemade tiramisu was very good too! :)

Very delicious cuisine, rabbit leg was perfect. We were sitting inside, service was quick, high level of guest experience. Few tables are outside, and few open air tables in inner yard. Great for a lunch

Great experience here! The set/course menu was a great way to try some stereotypical Belgian foods. I have a feeling it's a bit of a tourist trap option but for a first time visit honestly it was exactly what I wanted. Service was also very kind and prompt (English no problem). Definitely a good option for a nice dinner after a day of tourism in brugge.
