Favorite jazz venue hands down (of all of California). The caliber of artists that come thru on a regular basis is amazing, and it’s not a coincidence why that is the case. The staff and owner have a deep appreciation for music and it is reflected by the atmosphere of the room. The drink selection ranges from 8-13 usually, with some nightly specials that are pretty nice. I have yet to try the food but they do look and smell tempting when they come by. Overall, an intimate and wonderfully sounding venue that is worth a visit. Pictured: artists Pedro Martins and Louis Cole.

Solid presentation of jazz with cocktails & small plates available. The acts booked are all great. The seating isn't luxurious, but that's not the point ... the music is. Innovative cool jazz virtuosos play in a space made for them. A deep schedule makes us now a vibrant jazz scene still thrives in LA.

Blue Whale always has wonderful live music and a great bar for conversation, TV monitors at the bar.. One of the few venues in LA that still supports jazz and other live types of music... Support Live Music...WHO DAT !!🥁

You come here for the music, for the show, and yet the atmosphere is laid back like a bar. It's worth the cover charge, $10 - $20. It's so hard to find good quality live music, and it's even harder to find a bar set up in a manner in which the band central to the experience, and not just background music. Park in the parking garage and take the elevator to the top floor.

The lounge is beautiful with great view of the city, the design of the floor glasses is also iconic and classic. But the experience is less legendary, maybe due to its popularity. Came here on Saturday around 6:30 pm, the place was already packed, my friend and I had to sit in the less scenic corner, my drink was way too sweet, I could barely move across the room by 7 pm. And it's not the kind of lively busy, the clientele was, well, a somewhat interesting mix, sometimes I feel like I'm in a crowded off-strip small casino in Vegas.

3rd floor to the right after you exit the elevator. Its a bit warm in there but free ice water is on the bar to balance out your drink order. Bathroom is nice and clean. Pretty lighting and comfy seats. A great way to enjoy live jazz! The cash-only parking garage is a bit inconvenient because of that.

First and foremost, drinks were great. People were great. Passed the vibe check. I do need to say something about the experience though. This was my first time visiting a jazz club. The group that was playing (Josh Nelson, Discovery) that night were also trying something new with the setup of their band in the club. Instead of having all the band on one side of the club, they set everything up in the middle of the room. My group, having never been to this establishment, unknowingly chose the seats where the instruments are usually set up. Even with a sound check, the sound was very off, especially on one side of my ears. This persisted, and kind of created some disillusionment with this establishment that I heard great things about. Also, my group complained later about the band being 30 min late, and being forced to watch a lady draw something of that of a 5 year old.

Nice atmosphere, cool crowd, Sound system was wonderful, the drinks were not watered down, parking in the building was very reasonably priced, the place was clean and the talent for the evening that I attended was out of this world wonderful... Kandace Springs and her All Girl Band. I will definitely come back and bring my friends to this venue.

Great live music here for jazz enthusiasts in a hidden gem in a mall in Little Tokio. This place is awesome but it's meant for serious music listeners. This is not a place to talk to your friends/date with background music: come here if you want to actively listen to some great musicians in a relatively intimate setting. There's typically a reasonable cover charge (see their website for pricing, but usually around $15-20). The bar inside has a good selection of drinks and food at reasonable prices. Try to get here early since the seating tends to fill up fast.

Fantastic spot!! Super intimate, you can really hear and feel the music. The crowd is great, the drinks are well made and priced. The sound is perfect. Bathrooms are clean. It’s nice and cool inside. Can’t wait to come back!

New ownership and a new feel. Great prices, great service, clean bathrooms and a neon 'welcome to the jungle' sign! Nothing else like it in the Montrose/La Canada area. Great for an early business drink or a night out with friends. Service was great and the new owners were personally greeting the customers. If you are in the area, it's a great place to check out.
