Everyone should try the CHICKEN MEATBALL! The combination of three types of sauces - cream, cheese or mustard(not sure), barbeque - and the chicken meatballs were exceptional. Their cheese burger was also amazing thanks to perfectly cooked medium-rare patty and fresh veggies. The portion of the burger was huge enough to share. Considering the portion, they aren't overpriced. On top of that, their ambience was great, and service was decent. I highly recommend this place both for a date night and family gathering. Additional information: it wasn't that hard to find street parking on Saturday night. As it is a popular restaurant, we had to wait 40 mins on Saturday night around 6:30pm. Having said that, it's worth waiting!

Great lunch and dinner gastropub-esque place. The menu is small but everything is prepared well with high-quality ingredients. For Montana Ave, it's not especially pricey and the wait staff is very pleasant and professional. Worth a visit.

Nice place. Good food and service. The beef ribs are delicious, the cheeseburger was okay ! The place was crowded but we were seated right away (two people).

Tasty. Fresh. Friendly. Class. Enjoyed a couple of very good meals here. Roast chicken cooked perfectly with a delicious salad. Also the crispy chicken sandwich, which is a real showpiece. Service outstanding. Prices are worth the quality. I'll be back.

This place just breathe service and quality. And that's what you get when you go here. A tips is to try the chicken sandwich , and don't forget to order a fresh Margarita . Margaritas are amazing. Topped with their house-made sweat and sour makes them so delicious. Soft jazz or piano in background. Beautiful design, and great decor. Afternoon brunch, dinner or just a drink? This is a good place for that!

Hubby and I stumbled upon R+D Kitchen by accident. The only reason why we decided to check them out was because of the name of the restaurant. It's my husband's and mine initials, so it was a must! R+D is nestled in Santa Monica on the block of Montana. Parking can be a bit tricky depending on when you arrive. Be prepared to feed the meter. Hubby and I had a reservation and was sat quickly. I loved the ambiance and the vibe of the place. It was pretty busy the night we went and was very lively. I wish I could say the same about the service. I'm not sure if the waitress was new or if she had too many tables to handle but man o man. It took about 10/15 mins to have any service approach our table. When out waitress finally arrived, we immediately ordered our drinks and appetizer. For our appetizer, we ordered the devil's eggs. The order comes with 3 and we ordered an extra one so it can be a total of 4. She said no problem! When the appetizer arrived, there were only 3. Ugh! That was just the start of our night. The saving grace was the food. My hubby absolutely loved his steak! My burger was very tasty as well. The drinks hit the spot as well. The banana cream pie wasn't the best. Banana cream pie is my absolute favorite dessert! It just wasn't it here at R+D unfortunately. I might come back for a beverage and a steak!

UNACCEPTABLE. Will not come back. If you’re ethnic, stay away. You may get ignored like I was the last few times I’ve ordered takeout. 20 people whizzed past me without saying a word, I was standing at the right spot. My food had been sitting on the counter for awhile; I calmly asked for a manager. She did not apologize. She said it’s busy. She can reheat my food. Reheat? Remake it was the right offer. Last time I was here. I was standing at the takeout line. A tall Caucasian man joined me, but stood to the side of me. The takeout guy starts helping the tall guy. I said firmly “excuse me I was here first” and no one thought anything of it. If you don’t mind getting looked over because you’re not a boogie Caucasian looking person, this is your spot. I never pull out the race card but this is the only conclusion I have. And it was not coincidence or an innocent mistake because I know the difference. I’ve lived in Santa Monica for over a decade and I am close to a diverse community of friends and family. I used to work here awhile back. I know the kind of respect this place deserves. But this is not how you treat customers anywhere.

Excellent location, service and food! We walked in just before 9pm on Halloween and they sat us even though they were closing at 9pm. We were not rushed and the quality of our entrees were 10/10! Great value for what you get! Salmon was superb & Ahi tuna salad was outstanding.

Great atmosphere. Amazing staff. Recommend the Cubano Sandwich and Crispy Chicken Sandwich. Our server Maddie was very nice and helpful.

We had dinner here last night, they do not accept reservations but we arrived and they kindly put us on the wait list. Said it would take about 25 minutes and they would send a text (we went for a walk) they contacted us very soon, we were happy. However, the entrance and the bar area were insanely crowded, there should be a control of how many people they let in. The service was excellent our waiter Austin was amazing, they paid attention to everything needed, refilling water, bringing cutlery immediately, no complaint about it. About the food, the wild mushroom was absolutely delicious, the potato Puree amazing, creamed corn was ok. The crispy chicken was not outstanding at all and the fries, some were hard as a rock and others not fried even. Martini was excellent just as my husband ordered it, Kettle one, extra dirty, 3 olives. The place was cold and almost uncomfortable, people zipping up their coats. How can it be this cold inside a restaurant? Would I go back? No.

Great casual upscale restaurant with great service and food. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks and lunch. I enjoyed the piped in jazz music. I loved my gin and tonic. My husband enjoyed his Perfect Martini and his Manhattan. I really loved the crunch and flavor of the Asian Noodle Salad. My husband enjoyed his Petrole Sole! I will definitely come back here again!

Gets very busy after 5pm weekdays, and no reservations by phone. I enjoyed the sandwich-of-the-day which was the Rubenesque. I asked for the coleslaw on the side and shared it. Excellent coleslaw.

There was a group of about eight of us when we stopped at R+D kitchen. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the food came out fast as well. The crispy chicken sandwich and it was huge enough for leftovers. The cookie was also phenomenal. I would recommend checking out R+D Kitchen if you've never been and would love to come back.
