I had a few beers here and their selection is pretty great. The food was good, and their menu has some pretty good variety. I enjoyed the atmosphere here and the staff was very friendly and super knowledgeable with their specials and things of that nature. I ordered Mac and cheese and asked for chicken. The chicken came out overcooked and super rubbery. I ended up picking it out, and telling the server. The manager came over shortly and apologized and gave us a discount on the dish. They are very customer oriented. Other places would not have gone that far. If you're in the area and looking for some good food and a couple drinks, this is a good place to stop by.

9-10 would not recommend nor would I consider coming back again. I don’t know if it was because it was a slow night but the service was trash, horrible honestly. The bear was mostly beer foam both times although the second one was less foam than the first. The chicken sandwich was subpar, the fries were alright and my order was wrong the first time. I read the other reviews and expected better, but I have to say there are other breweries in DTLA THAT OFFER BETTER SERVICE, have a better atmosphere and with better food options.

My first experience with Karl Strauss was at their San Diego location. I loved the beers then and was excited to learn that they had opened a location in DTLA down the street from my work. The location is big, almost too big for DTLA, but they've learned how to utilize the space. They have multiple TVs for different viewing angles, but it's not like a sports bar. For a brewery, the food is excellent, and there's a little bit of something for everyone.

5 stars! Absolutely, love this restaurant. The quality of the food, the flavors, the execution, the beer, the atmosphere. LOVE. My favorite beer there is the Mosaic. The description of it on the menu is spot on for that beer and the Columbia, which is also a favorite. The duck battered pretzel balls are an incredible balance of salty, savory, 'herby', and fattening. They are addictive for bread lovers and non-bread lovers, like myself, alike. The carne asada fries serve great as an appetizer and entree. The pickled onion as a touch of sweet vinegar with the mild spice of the dish and cool avocado and steak is just perfect. The negatives I will say was the portion of the sausages that came with the Sausage entree (I forget the name). It included 1 chicken and 1 pork, I believe, sweet potatoe fries, a sweet mustard sauce, and frisee. I loved the presentation, beautiful. However, two small sausages and a mound of fries was disappointing for the price point. The dish should include at least 1, if not 2, more sausages or offer that as an option. Last, the ahi poke appetizer I did not enjoy at all, nor did my party. The sauce was overwhelming for the fish in both quantity and flavorings. The amount of added avocado for the cost was too much too. We didn't finish the dish and in fact it went to waste.

Has gone downhill since previous visits. Bit of a fruit fly problem at the bar, almost no third party beers on tap, burger was poorly constructed and mediocre, menu seemed fairly minimal. Service was weird because the only place you could get table service at lunch was at the bar, everybody else had to stand in line to order at the bar before going to their tables...

They have an extensive list of great beers. If you're not sure, try a flight. Their service is excellent, and their food is delicious. Restrooms are also very clean. Happy Hour is after 5pm. Because you're in downtown LA, you definitely have to find a parking lot. But it's worth it for the beer, food, and service. I love coming here, and will continue to do so. Cheers!

Great space; think warehouse style. More importantly, great beer! Don’t miss what was a first for me, the Golden Stout. A stout that isn’t dark, but instead is; golden…

Food and Beer were great. 🍔🍺 It would’ve been nice if they tell you that you must order at the counter. We were waiting for someone to take our order.

I came here in 2020 and absolutely loved it. This was the first place on my list when we returned last week. I’ve got to say it’s gotten so expensive (20 bucks for a Mac n cheese) and the atmosphere is not great either. It’s too bright and loud (even when mostly empty). I won’t be returning the next time we come to LA unfortunately. It feels a little depressing now.

Big, modern brewery with a good range of beers. I liked the IPA. Food looks great (saw it come out but didn’t eat). Loads of TV screens showing NBA, NFL, NHL.

Decided to stop in while we were in town this weekend. Good selection of beer on tap. Food is about what you'd expect when you visit a brewery or sports bar. The sign said to order at the bar, so we did. Honestly, I don't think that they guy looked at us once - he acknowledged that we were there by walking up but I swear he never looked at us. Were we ready to order the moment we walked up? No, so we asked for a minute to review the menu. I saw something that looked interesting and said it out loud and the guy behind the bar repeated it as he started to enter it, I think I may have accidentally shouted "NO!" followed up by a more calm "I was just pointing it out". Again he acknowledged that I was heard, this time with a nod. We placed our order and he slid out number over to us - this time he did have to look at us to tell us what to do with the number, but that was the only eye contact. (eye contact isn't a make-or-break for me, but for heavens sake that's a great way to connect with your customer and also you'll be able to know when they're actually placing their order vs pointing out something on the menu to their dining companion) I don't remember what beer I ordered, but it was fine. The hubs got a Dt Soda and it was Dt Soda-ey, so also fine. I ordered Mac & Cheese (I believe they call it Mac & Tap Cheese, or something like that). I don't know why it was calling my name, but it was and I wasn't disappointed! The hubs ordered Fish and Chips. When it was delivered, the gal placing it in front of us asked us if we wanted anything. He asked for more vinegar and then she asked if we wanted water and I replied 'yes'. Sadly, she never found her way back. No one ever came to check up on us. Fortunately we were fine with the beverages that we'd ordered at the bar and he made do with his one little packet of vinegar If I visit this area of LA, would I go again? There are a lot of options in the area so it's not likely. I'm not disappointed that I went because the Mac & Cheese was tasty, just likely that I'd not go again. Thanks for reading my review.

We were at the location next to Legoland, super convenient that it’s here and I love that they have vegetarian options! I just don’t love being uncharged $4.00 extra to NOT eat the meat and to exchange the meat patty for a beyond patty… why do I have to pay $4.00 when they don’t give the $4.00 patty and instead the cheaper beyond patty. Sucks to be taxed for doing the right thing for the planet!

This place was a GODSEND. We had been looking for somewhere to eat some burgers and kept running into rude/busy places nearby. We accidentally spotted this place and decided to give it a shot. WE LOVED IT! We actually talked all night about how glad we ran into that street and decided to go in. The food was DELICIOUS! We tried the truffle fries, cheddar burger, wilshire burger, and the beeramisu- and everything was 10/10. It hit the spot for sure! Luckily one of us had noticed we were supposed to order at the bar otherwise I would have been sitting there waiting though- so maybe put little signs for newbies? Otherwise I love the little "clean table" signs they put up as well! The vibe was nice, I highly recommend this place if you're in the area! We will definitely come back our next LA trip!

Food was good but a bit over-priced. You have to order food at the bar. There isn't table service. The soul ale was really good. There are TVs all over, so you can watch the game. I would come back for the brews but I think I'd skip the food next time.

Variety of beer selection is fantastic and service was on point. We had their raspberry sour, rice lager, and imperial milk stout. All were excellent!

Perfect place in heart of downtown LA to chill out with friends after work. A huge variety of brewed beers to try out. I tried out the trophy house which had 4 small glasses of different brews order on the basis of ABV (Alcohol By Value) and IBU (International Bitterness Unit). Loved the Red Trolley Brew. The food is nice, especially the truffle fries. Very spacious and clean place which starts filling up after 6.

Very nice brewery with good food and good beers. The sampler flights of beer are a great way to try several kinds. The food was very tasty and enjoyable.

Great beer. Great food. Awesome atmosphere. Beer selection is superb. Plenty of space for big groups. About 30 to 40 beers on tap. Happy hour from 3pm to 6pm with $5 beers and $5 appetizers.
