This was my first experience with Ethiopian food. The plates were amazing and included many kinds of veggies and meat. I was not a fan of the bread used to scoop up the food—it was way too sour for me. I would recommend this place to anyone, especially to try it out or if you’re a fan of the cuisine. The staff was nice and took good care of us.

First time eating Ethiopian food, so good. The staff was very helpful with suggestions. We had the meat and veggie platters, and the foul. The lamb and the beef were delicious, and my favorite, but my husband is coming back for the fava beans.

Found out about this place on Reddit— it’s a small, modest little restaurant in the back of a little Ethiopian store that sells spices and carvings etc. The food was exceptional— I got the garlic salted trout, and my husband got the vegetable platter. So much flavor, and these plates were mild in terms of spicy heat. Would 100% return back.

We had never tried Ethiopian food and wanted to try it for a long time. Boy were we in for a treat! The coffee was so rich, best we ever had, and the lamb and meat we ordered were delectable! The injera was awesome. It is a small, cozy place, which I like, and the owner and staff are very cool and accomodating. Definitely will be coming back!

Read reviews online and decided to go check it out. We weren't disappointed. I went with my mom and my niece and we all enjoyed our food. I ordered the Doro Wat and it was delicious. My mom had two glasses of the honey wine which she really enjoyed. I live about 1 1/2 hrs from Los Angeles but I can't wait to come back! Great place with lots of traditional inspiration and a really nice owner.

Excellent environment, friendly service, great menu choices, amazing tasty dishes "VEGAN" friendly and at affordable prices. What a lovely restaurant I also LOVE the COFFEE. I enjoy the decor everytime I go. I drive 45 miles just to eat and buy injera here worth the time and money.

The food here is amazing! It was my first time trying Ethiopian food and I loved how colorful, tasty, well seasoned, and diverse the veggie and meat combo plate was. The injera bread could’ve been warmer but besides that, 10/10 recommend this place!

wow, this place is delicious and the vibes are immaculate. it feels like you just walked into someone’s apartment and they are cooking you a meal. we got the salty fish and the meat platter, which gave a bit of everything and was fun to eat with our hands. the all star for sure was the lentil sambusa though, i’m still thinking about it. also my first time trying honey wine, and now i’m a big fan

I had my inaugural experience with Ethiopian cuisine at this place. The food was scrumptious, but unfortunately, the service fell short. Despite ordering honey wine alongside our meal, it was never served to us. The place is small and cozy and can accommodate around 20-24 people at a time.

We love ethiopian food! This is a tiny restaurant with delicious food, coffee, smoothies, and tiramisu! The portions were huge, and the taste authentic ethiopian. There is a small store at the entrance selling cool little gift items and foods. We are coming back!

The two meat platter was pretty good. The veggie dishes that came with the fried trout were also excellent. Service was relatively quick given it's a small restaurant with few staff.

Food is wonderful. We walked in for the first time and the smell instantly indicated that this restaurant has great food. First time eating Ethiopian food, the flavors are beautiful and I love how it had some sour notes to it. We forgot to leave a tip, our apologies. We will come back again and bring people with us. We won’t forget this time 😅

Excellent. Easy to order and great quantity and quality. Ordered Kitfo and veggie combo and both were great. Bought extra mitmita and it was great as well. Went here after a nearby place we'd visited before initially led us down the path of all these painful details of our rather simple takeout order and then suddenly changed their minds saying they couldn't fulfill our small order after wasting 10mins on the phone with them. With Buna, I was instead able to order within one minute on the phone and when I arrived I barely waited before the food was ready and cooked exactly the way we expected it to be. So glad the issue resulted in us giving this restaurant a try instead because we will visit again on our next trip to LA instead of the other place!

Buna is such a treasure. Excellent market section, such warm and friendly service from Eyob, and exceptional food that keeps me coming back (even after moving out of state). My go to is the fish. So crispy and well seasoned with garlic salt, with tender, juicy white meat. They aren’t sparing with the lemon and even include an entire one when you order takeout, which I truly appreciate. It comes with 6 flavorful veggie sides, including my favorite, shiro wot. Portions of sides and injera are generous, which is rare in restaurants. I’ve eaten here for years. Tried a bunch of other places in little Ethiopia and Buna is the one I stuck with. The food quality has been consistently great, service is exemplary, I truly feel like I’m visiting family when I come by.

They have many kinds of 🌿 herbs and othe grains rarely found in markets , small but good an I highly recommend it .

I've been to Buna 3 times now, trying the Beef Tibese, Vegetable Combo, and now Meat Combo. Been really pleased every time - I'm from Washington, DC, where there's a large Ethiopian population, and this is up there with my favorite spots from that city. The beef and lamb stews that come with the meat combo were especially good - just enough spice to kick the palette. Service is friendly, the atmosphere is low-key and unpretentious, and prices are very competitive for LA. Really recommend this place. Also: I've eaten here and Meals by Genet, and I've preferred this spot - there's a meaningful price difference, too. So if you're looking for an alternative to that very-hyped restaurant, give this a try!

Was looking for something sweet after dinner, and stopped in here for a slice of tiramisu. Really cute place, and well decorated. Ordered a tiramisu - not an authentic Italian style, but I wouldn’t expect it to be as running Ethiopian restaurant. It’s always fun to remember Italy’s influence on Ethiopia because the Fascist Italy did occupy Ethiopia for five years before WWII. Cute place, good tiramisu.

Best Ethiopian food in LA hands down. Pricing is perfect for the service and atmosphere of the restaurant. Owner Eyob and his beautiful wife are so welcoming! Any question of Ethiopian history, this guy knows it all. He’s a great teacher and chef! P. S. Buna means coffee!

We loved this little Ethiopian spot. We got the meat platter and the veggie platter combined as well as some sambusas and baklava. The sambusas we're surprisingly large. We really liked the lentil one. The Baklava was delicious as well. Compared with other Ethiopian places we've been too, we liked the vegetable dishes more and the meat dishes slightly less but everything was delicious. The veggie platter is a must have.

(Translated by Google) As soon as I arrived in Los Angeles, I went to Little Ethiopia and found a restaurant called Coffee Restaurant. I ate with my friends, which looked like a delicious home-cooked meal, and I could not help but admire the hospitality and cleanliness. I recommend that you go to LA to use a coffee restaurant. These are the kind of little mom and pop places that make LA what it is. I’ve been coming here for years and I always feel so welcomed. The food is wonderful, I usually get the vegetarian plate and whole fish. At night I like to eat outside the storefront with friends and it’s so cute and dreamy. My stomach also feels really good and happy after I eat here. The vibes are perfect, the art on the walls and the smells transport you. You can pick up some incense and dry lentils on your way out. I’ve been meaning to come here some night and sit outside with a little coffee and some baklava.

  • 5/5 Rick H. 8 months ago on Google
I found my Ethiopian spot in LA! After trying three other Ethiopian spots on Fairfax that were all good but left room to try other places, I’ve found my favorite with Buna! I had the vegetarian combo (which is what I get at every Ethiopian restaurant), and I loved every one of the dishes included. The atmosphere is small and simple, but the food is incredible and my search for the best LA Ethiopian is over.

Buna Ethiopian Restaurant is an all-encompassing market/restaurant/coffee den/art gallery, cultural and culinary gem run by an amazing family. *See the definition for "good people". Ethiopian coffee has been described as "a tonic for solitude and an elixir for human connection". The owners of this restaurant cultivate and celebrate Ethiopia's ancient traditions through food, art, music, and exceptional service. "Buna" is an elixir for human connection where local artists and musicians are showcased, ancient traditions are celebrated, community connections and kindness is encouraged here. Buy an original artwork celebrating black history and culture. Pick up a bulk order of Ethiopian coffee for your Michelin star restaurant. Share a vegan feast with your family and friends. Stock up on frankincense, sage, African soap, Shea butter, seasoning, spices, grains, East African and Ethiopian artisan imported products and treasures. Buy a book about Ethiopian coffee heritage and learn about the long lives of ancient Ethiopians thanks to a traditional Ethiopian diet and the rich history of Ethiopian food, coffee and people. Purchase a traditional coffee ceremony set to go with your Ethiopian coffee beans, or an injera bread cookware set to accompany your teff flour, herbs, spices and grains. I was looking for something special when I came here and I found it. On my first visit, I was invited by the owner and a kind customer to a complimentary cup of coffee during a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony. On my second visit, I was given complimentary lessons about Ethiopian coffee history from the owner. On my third visit, I was offered a complimentary piece of cake to accompany my Ethiopian coffee ceremony and I got a chance to give a fellow customer a cup of traditional Ethiopian coffee thanks to "Eob" who told us both, "It's an ancient Ethiopian tradition to share." His words were echoed by smiles, poured coffee and happy conversations. Every visit here is sure to be special thanks to the family who makes sure if it. Try the meat combo plate, a large platter of mildly spiced tender beef and lamb with mild vegetables, diced tomatoes and injera bread, it's delicious and large enough to share. Order the garlic trout, a whole fish cooked to perfection with six tasty and unique vegetables, tomato salad, lime and injera bread. This dish is a customer favorite, including mine. The neighborhood surrounding this restaurant is filled with churches, synagogues and mosques, everyone is given a warm welcome at this restaurant. I love that. Many thanks to Eob and his lovely family for the great food, coffee and service, priceless lessons and for bringing the neighborhood, community, and the world together. My new favorite Ethiopian restaurant, for many reasons, Buna brings together art, music, food, traditions, culture, the community in the best way, for the best reasons. If "paying it forward", "good people", and buying stock in making the world a better place appeals to you, you're going to love this place too.

Hello everyone, I hope Gambella University, also called University of Endurance as I named will be the leading higher education based on Quality in the near future. It is Endurance University because it was launched in April 28th, 2014, provided that it was first of its kind in Gambella state. I am a Gambella student from University of Gondar, and I have been to Debre Markos University for field trip and when I saw it I proud myself that Gambella University is better than Debre Markos University for good. I am not lying. I can't describe it now. Gambella University will be the very University for Change in Ethiopia in the years ahead.
