This was my sisters and I favorite place in all of Los Angeles. We made it a sister ritual to go here every other week. I just learned that they are now requiring proof of COVID vaccine in order to dine. Needless to say we won’t be going here anymore and won’t get our business. Regardless of my vaccination status it isn’t right to deny someone the right to sit down and eat if they aren’t vaccinated, I mean come on this is America! Good luck to your business🙅🏻‍♀️

I wish I could give this place negative stars. Horrible service & extremely overrated. Don’t waste your time or money. Will never be coming back here. Also just heard they will be implementing vaccine passports… good luck with that… this is America, not Germany! Hope you go out of business from this

My profile picture of me drinking a martini is actually a photo taken at this place. My now wife and I used to love going here when I used to live in DTLA. We wanted to go have an anniversary dinner there this weekend so I went on their website to buy tickets like I usually do. This time around they are now requiring I share my medical records in order to go into the establishment not only is this a violation of HIPAA law, But it’s a slap in the face to all of its loyal customers. Shame on you guys.

This place was horrible. The staff was rude and discriminated against me, and the drinks and food were on par with the service. It has a lot of good reviews but not sure why. Disgusting people that run it, would not recommend.

Elegant place. Dress up. Bring your partner for dancing. Bar upstairs. Comfy couches upstairs. Great food. 2 drinks each plus 3 course dinner for 2 will be about $175. You can go for dancing only, but limited seating upstairs, unless you reserved a dinner table. I reccomend a dinner table upstairs, because of the view of band n the ballroom is awesome. My only complaint was womens restroom upstairs. It's only 3 stalls. One wasn't working, the other one didn't lock. So basically only one. Trash on floor And no toilet paper on stalls.

A beautiful piece of historic art deco design and architecture. Just being inside transports you to another era. And while the food and drinks might leave a bit to be desired, none of that really matters after spending a few mins there. It’s especially fun when you rent the space upstairs to for a private party and you truly feel like you’re mingling with the upper crust of 1930s Angelenos.

It took 2 1/2 hours to get our first course and another hour to get our dinner. The excuse was they had more people than expected, even though you have to purchase dinner in advance and they knew exactly how many people were going to be there. We had to ask for bread, after sitting there for an hour, otherwise we may have never gotten it. Our dishes and glasses weren't cleared. The waiter would stop by to apologize, then leave without clearing the table. We spotted them sitting down talking to each other, instead of doing their job. And gratuity has to be prepaid. The food was average. I've had better meals for $25, but this meal cost $100. The owner said he would give our party of 8 a whopping $100 credit, but the waiter only took off $79. So, after having to ask the waiter to clear the plates that have sitting there for half an hour, I now have to tell them the discount he gave us was incorrect. It's unfortunate because I would love to go back for the music and the ambiance, but this was the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant in my life. Cicada is beautiful and the show was fabulous. I just wish they would get their s..t together and not charge so much for a mediocre meal at an outrageous price that takes hours to serve.

Amazing venue with an amazing atmosphere! If you want to go back in time to old Hollywood this is your place! Just went for the show and not dinner, but make sure to get there on time. We arrived late thinking they would be playing till 1AM, but they were done by 11PM. Right around the corner is Clifton's Republic bar that you can take the party to after!

The Cicada club is a local treasure! Great bands, beautiful, historic ambiance and delicious food/drinks. The perfect place for getting dressed up and hitting the dance floor. Make sure you ride the elevator and hear stories from the operator.

Must visit! It’s a historic landmark and it’s absolutely gorgeous. The music was awesome! The food was delish and service was by far impeccable. It is rather expensive. 2 course dinner, 4 cocktails (2 each) plus tip and service charge runs úp to $350. Just be prepared for that check 😅

Unique dinning experience with encouraged era clothing, art deco building and live music. Attentive wait staff and good food. Bonus was watching the patrons foxtrot across the floor.

This place was so elegant! The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. The entertainment was amazing tio. They had a Frank Sinatra night and it was beautiful. The first floor had a dance floor next to the band. You have to make reservations for a table and you can sit on that table all night. There is a bar upstairs and couches if you feel like hanging out there all night if you choose to not get a table. The drinks are delish! I'm definitely coming back.

If vintage is your vibe then this is the place for you. I went for Mambo craze and the entertainment was fantastic. I loved the burlesque show. My only complaint is that we got a VIP table and bottle service - we spent about $600 - that isn't the complaint. The complaint is if I spend that much I expect to have people that didn't pay for a VIP table to stand somewhere else other than in front of my view. It truly was annoying. Then when we asked them to move they gave attitude and refused to move.

Come here to dress up, dance, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings but leave any expectation of hospitality at the door. I've worked many service jobs including waiting tables and know how hard the job is - my patience runs deep for the inevitable mishaps that occur when dining out. This went way beyond any measure of understanding and was inexcusably terrible. After being seated, it took 15 minutes to get menus and another 20 to get an order in. After that, 60 minutes for entrees and it took a complaint to management to finally get dessert (which we had already ordered and paid for - with tip! - since this is a prix fixe setup). Our server did not return to our table after taking our order until it was time to drop the check. He helped tables all around us throughout the evening while we looked on in confusion. I hesitate to make assumptions but it seems pretty clear that whatever average-to-bad service we might have received turned nonexistent once the waiter learned that we were not drinking. I've been sober for nearly four years and this is the first time I've ever felt unwelcome in a restaurant or bar. Overall, this was a disappointing and frustrating night out.

This place is amazing!!! The art deco and preservation of the beauty of this building is so much appreciated. We have gone for many different nights and it has always been spectacular. The food is delicious, the drinks are strong and the service is red carpet! Mambo Craze is the best night to go if you love variety for entertainment. The bands and entertainment are beyond talented! Big thanks to Daisy for letting us know about this gem! We will be coming often and telling everyone we know .

Went to the Salute to America show 4th of July weekend. Check in was easy, they required proof of vaccination to enter. Valet was cheap and right out front. We did general seating on the mezzanine. The chairs were plentiful, comfortable and clean. Sound level was good enough to dance to, but not so loud that you had to yell to talk. Our only complaint was the bartender who didn’t know basic cocktails. If you have a vintage themed venue, your bartender should know what a sidecar, Tom Collins, or a gimlet are. The drinks we ended up with were good. Venue itself is absolutely gorgeous with a polite staff. So glad they are open again.

I have always loved going to the Cicada Club!!! I am thrilled to learn that they are asking for proof of vaccination! It makes me more comfortable knowing that I will be in a place where they care about their patrons and their staff!! Thank you Cicada Club for doing the right thing! I will gladly show them my vaccination card!! Looking forward to celebrating my birthday there!

Worst experience ever servers don’t care about service because they included 18% gratuity. The server took 30 minutes to take our drink order and another 20 minutes to bring us our drinks. She did not deserve anything my girlfriend ordered cáptese salad and they brought Smoke salmon. Worst service ever never come back to this place!! I managed a restaurant if one of my servers would provide this type of service I would apologize to the customers. We asked for the split check but the server said that manager doesn’t allow splits. This is ridiculous because on any POS system you can split checks, either server is too lazy to ask the manager or the manager doesn’t care at all. If you go Thai placebo prepared for a horrible service!!!!

Beautiful art deco space that hosts amazing live music events every week or so. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The full restaurant menu is great Cali-Italian, but my one minor gripe (and a primary reason I don't eat here more frequently when they do the band nights) is the narrow prix fixe on the special club nights.

I attended this venue Sat 12/30/23. Although the venue is beautiful, show was top notch and the rest of the staff was great, the entire bar staff especially the bar manager should be fired. You would think a classy place like this, with beautiful decor, wonderful music, and amazing ambiance would have a nice bar, you would be dead wrong. I was trying to avoid the upstairs bar area as it looked like a mess all night I finally succumbed as I wanted to have a cocktail with my friend to cap my wonderful evening after a great show. First off, the bar area was completely filthy, drinks thrown everywhere, wet, a complete mess. While I was waiting for someone to acknowledge me at a mostly empty bar, I started wiping down what seemed half the bar area when I noticed the bar manager directly to my right only a few feet away. I made eye contact a couple of times while cleaning and it didn’t seem to faze him and there was no care in the world as he was playing with his phone. I knew I should have walked away at that point but after all the cleaning and moving of the 8+ cups I ordered 2 espresso Martinis. The bartender seemed so dumbfound by my choice my friend actually asked her nicely if this was her first time and if she knew what she was doing. She said it actually was her first time working there she usually doesn’t do events like this and was hired for the evening; this should have been my second warning to walk away. She asked someone who seemed the bar back in Spanish how to make it. While she was making it, she actually forgets to put in a shot of vodka and I reminded her. She literally mixed 2 drinks together and she messed it up, she shook it very lightly and dumped it in 2 dirty martini glasses. In hindsight I should have said no thank you but felt bad and took it. The entire time bar manager still hanging out playing with his phone. Of course, the drink was disgusting no flavor at all, espresso flavor mix, the cheapest kind, with Vodka made very poorly at that. I have had much better drinks at dive bars. It was embarrassing for a venue this nice honestly. I sat a few feet away and kept looking at the bar manager and all he did was go back to the bar and poured himself some wine and relaxed. I felt so ripped off, about $50 for zero effort of a drink and disgusting bar setup. They charge $20 a drink and it was horrible. I had just finished dinner up the street and Water Grill where drinks are $16 and amazing then it got ruined by coming here for the nightcap. I also noticed two older gentlemen here flirting with the same bartender while another patron came to order drinks, he waited about 5-7 min at an otherwise empty bar until he folded his wallet and walked away, she never even acknowledged him, but glad he walked away smart move. I have never seen such an expensive bar with such poor service. It’s $50 I will survive but I felt so ripped off I felt compelled to write this review as the service and drink was horrendous. I don’t want other people to experience the same thing.

First of all, this may be the last great supper club. So, enjoy. And the milieu is second to none in downtown L.A., cousin to the fabulous Biltmore Hotel only steps away. It's deluxe, delicious, divine. The areas best musicians and renowned accomplished musicians accompanied by primo cuisine and service. How can you beat it. The M.C., Maxwell, embodies its sensational esprit.

Cicada is my favorite place, the ambiance is amazing. Been coming here for years. This last visit was a little unsettling due to some people getting too silly on dance floor. Man lifting a lady in the air! With her legs kicking around. Behave yourself.

We go to this Club Bar every week because of the service and how great we feel every time we are here. From the moment you walk in you are greeted by a friendly staff who just make a rounded experience. Plus the actual setting of the venue was made to make you wowed. We enjoyed the evening, and I will come back again.

I wish the food was more vegan friendly. They did have some options but it's not worth Seventy nine dollars a person. The band was fantastic and I like how There's two floors so if you want some quiet you can go upstairs and there is another bar. The drinks were a bit expensive but if you are Having a special occasion then it's worth it

From the outside, this place is literally a Club . Once inside, it is a quaint, lovely oasis. The atmosphere is cool, part indoor, part outdoor dining with a small, cute bar. It is like being in the backyard but not in the middle of CA .

I remember the days when the Exploratorium was located at the Palace of Fine Arts. With the move to this location along the Embarcadero, I haven't had a chance to visit this new facility until recently when I went to "Exploratorium After Dark" on Thursday nights from 6-10pm. During this time, the Exploratorium is open to Adults 18+ and serve beer and wine. Tickets are $19.95 at the door and are first come first served to capacity. Avoid the long lines and assure entry by buying your tickets online before 5pm and save $2 too.

I highly recommend getting the Groupon deal for this restaurant if you can as it is pricy, but even if you don't get the deal and are looking for a nice dinner out; this place is fantastic.Best dining experience my wife and I have ever had. The only thing I enjoyed were the free tacos, after every drink I got they gave me a raffle ticket so I ended up with plenty and had about 8 tacos, they were bomb AF, a lot of meat, super juicy, all the fixings were on the side so I can dress it up.

Such a fun new place in the area. My dad and I wanted to try something different so we ended up here. He had the Hawaiian fried chicken and I had the shrimp in pineapple shoyu sauce. Both were delicious, paired with rice, salad and kimchee. The fried chicken was a very generous portion and everything tasted fresh. You can tell they take great pride in providing fresh, made as you order food.

We came here during DineLA week and the options they had for the special menu were excellent. We all got something different and I went with anything that had short rib. This is such a cute restaurant. Service is exceptional. Portions are generous. Cocktails are tasty. And it's super romantic. It's a great place for a date night or a special occasion. Would say it's better to be a bit dressed up but doesn't seem necessary either.
