Came here seeing the high reviews. This is 100% a place that needs a reservation if you want to give this place a try. I would also recommend doing the valet option for parking, as parking here is kinda atrocious. The food overall was pretty good and really fresh. I highly recommend the bake blue crab roll and the crispy salmon. Those two were probably the highlight of the meal itself. The uni pasta somewhat just reminded me of your general Chinese restaurant lobster noodle dish, which kind of reduced the overall "wow" factor of the dish. Not to say the dish wasn't good, just I couldn't find a justification to paying the price for the dish. Ordered the Japanese Yam thinking it'll be sweet or what not, instead, what I got was something that reminded me of McDonald's Fries, which was kind of strange. I would recommend both the plum wine (as shown in photo) and the yuzurin drink, both completely different palate but both pretty good. Both goes down well and doesn't have a very strong alcohol after taste, which was really comfortable. The Yuzurin is really mellow and the smell of the drink was delightful.

For a restaurant focusing on sushi, their ramen is actually pretty bomb! Very flavorful and the noods had a lovely chew. The kurobota pork was fatty and just was super delish in the best possible way. A filling dish and I really enjoyed this more than the sushi. The vibe is very cool too. Modern atmosphere with cool decor and good service. It's in the basement of the hotel. There's a cool rooftop bar (Perch) at the top floor that is worth checking out. It gets pretty busy on the weekends with a wait to get in though!

We did a dinner special and paid for the birthday boy's meal. Between 4 of us that paid it came out to be $100 / person. Not bad for the ambiance of the fish tanks illuminating over the table and food. It was a 6 or 7 course meal too where they brought out each dish and rotated between cold and hot plates. I definitely recommend if you are wanting to impress someone for their birthday. Even the tables for two would be cute to bring for a date.

Wow I really love the layout and decoration of this restaurant! The sushi is delicious and the service is wonderful! They didn't rush us out even though we were there late. Not overpriced like so many other sushi spots in LA.

I’ve heard nothing but great things about this spot for their solid sushi and atmosphere, so I decided to check it out. I ordered the dry sake(pictured) and it was an excellent starter. The uni sushi was phenomenal. The pork belly skewer was really good along with the rock shrimp appetizer. The baked crab roll was also delicious along with the crispy rice tuna. Overall the dining experience and ambience was exceptional. Thanks for the server Stephanie for being awesome too. I’d definitely come back here again and try their other menu items. I highly recommend an Uber because it’s limited to street parking or valet.

The place is really nice all the decoration is beautiful. The food is delicious and prices are affordable. I am giving 3 stars because customer service is not the best, the waitress are not friendly and they are always in a rush not letting you even ask a question. I like the place but not the servirce.

Definitely a unique and must try place in LA! A very tranquil atmosphere combined with elegant and sophisticated touch. I'd recommend visiting it after/before the rooftop(Perch) since it's basically a few steps away and you get to see the the top spots of Downtown. The service is amazing and profesional! The only reason I gave 4 stars is because their sushi didn't impress me at all. I got, supposedly, the top choice/house specials, and it just didn't taste that wonderful. The rice tasted old and the meat was just ok, so the overall taste palate was alright but nothing memorable. I'd come back to try other meals, since we had great experience apart from the sushi and the menu seemed promising in terms of choice variety.

This place is so cool, if you like sushi and don't mind the price, this is the place to go. The atmosphere is great from the moment you walk in, art on walls and fish tanks above your head. The food was fantastic! My personal favorites were the seared tuna crispy rice and blue crab roll. Everything we ordered was delicious unless you're not a fan of fish. Great spot for a date night that isn't loud and serves plenty of alcohol. Shout outs to the whiskey flight 🍻

Had dinner last night with a group of nine for my best friend’s bachelorette party and it was amazing! We were told we had to go with a pre fixe menu since we were a large group which I was a little hesitant about but decided it was worth it for the ambiance. For $75pp we got to choose a variety of family style appetizers, sushi rolls, nigiri, and desserts. We had three vegetarians which I noted on the reservation and they took the time to call me the day of and ask about specifics/tell me they would plan special vegetarian dishes. So helpful! We got there and WOW….this place is so cool and so unique. Great ambiance, DJ, and Japanese art work everywhere. Plus the food was fantastic! This was a 3 hour, 6 course meal and the food just kept coming! Everything had little “congratulations” messages and they printed us our own custom menus! The cocktails here are also delicious and unique, very picture worthy! The staff was so kind and helpful and we felt very attended to. This was honestly such a great place to celebrate and so much bang for your buck. Would highly recommend!

This is one of those places that's all hype. My Mrs Fish experience began with my date falling down their dark steep stairs as we were walking in. Accidents happen, however none of the staff came over to check on someone who was lying on their stairs after falling. Thankfully two other restaurant patrons were kind enough to though. I made reservations weeks in advance, noting it was a special occasion. The table we were seated at was off to the side and against a pillar. In a restaurant that boasts about it's artistic vibe, my view was concrete. After being seated it was almost 15min before we had something to drink. During this time three separate servers came over asking if we would like water for the table. None who asked brought us anything. It was someone from the kitchen staff clearing the table next to us who eventually did. This painfully slow service continued all throughout our dinner. Everything we ate was delicious, and prepared well. Some things were a bit pricey for what you received. Especially the cocktails. It was also excessively loud. The music being played was equivalent to a night club in selection, volume, and bass. Making it difficult to to speak to each other during dinner. Overall this was an extremely disappointing experience. Their "Art Gallery" was simply pictures on the wall used to decorate the restaurant. The fish tank is cool. But small and mostly visible from the bar and when walking in. With only one table beneath it. If you want to see what it's all about, just stop in for a drink. I wouldn't recommend it for dinner or a special occasion.

It was my first time here in this industrial basement. The place once inside is pretty cool. Unique for sure! The drinks are like no others I've had. The bird drink is a must try! I enjoyed all the other items on the menu more than the sushi. Not at all bad, just wasn't impressed. My only issue was the noise volume. The DJ is loud too loud! Sooo loud you couldn't really have conversations with you date without saying "what what" all the time. Got annoying real quick. Music should be background not the main event. We went up to Perch for dessert instead of staying longer. Staff were really friendly and their prices were good!

I’ve come to this location about four or five times now and every time I come have an amazing time. Are usually stay for just cocktails and appetizers but every time I have, it’s been amazing. That edamame and the skewers are to die and all the cocktails I had have been great. The doorman is so kind and has such great hospitality, and the room itself is very artistic and beautiful. It’s definitely worth coming and hanging out with friends and having a good time. I’ve also come on Tuesdays when they have live music and had a great time. I recommend a reservation which was super easy through Open Table for me.

Cardboard paper holding up table. I recently dined at Mrs. Fish in Los Angeles, and I must admit, my first-time experience left me underwhelmed. With high expectations for an exceptional evening, I was genuinely excited to explore what the restaurant had to offer. Unfortunately, my excitement quickly turned into disappointment due to several key factors. The most significant issue was the service, which fell far below my expectations. Our waitress appeared disinterested and unpleasant, which cast a shadow over the entire dining experience. It was evident that she didn't seem happy to be there, and her lack of enthusiasm was palpable. The lack of attentiveness and genuine care for our dining experience was a major letdown. Despite this disappointing start, my party and I did our best to salvage the evening and enjoy our meal. The ambiance of Mrs. Fish is undoubtedly unique and captivating, with its intriguing décor and setting. However, even the most beautiful surroundings couldn't fully compensate for the lackluster service. In terms of the food, while it had its moments, it didn't manage to make up for the overall disappointment. There were some dishes that were quite good, but others left much to be desired, making the dining experience feel inconsistent. In summary, my first visit to Mrs. Fish in LA was marred by poor service and an overall underwhelming experience. I had high hopes for a memorable evening, but unfortunately, those expectations were not met. I hope the restaurant management takes these concerns to heart and works to improve the quality of service, as well as the consistency of the dining experience, to ensure that future patrons can truly enjoy all that Mrs. Fish has to offer.

Very nice restaurant with very good food ! We took the Cod fish and some sushi and both were very good ! The waiters and waitresses are very nice and know well the menu and give good recommendations. Prices are fair and not very expensive regarding the quality of the food On od the best sushi and Asian restaurants I went here in Los Angeles

I'm giving this place a three star solely on that the seafood quality was so high and the cocktails were delicious especially the smoked whiskey. But every warm appetizer we ordered was cold pork belly skewers and steak skewers and steak skewers tasted very bland. half way throw are service waiter disappeared and we kept on having to flag down random people to get what we needed.my fiance surprise me by taking me to this place for my birthday because I've been wanting to visit this place but we live all the way out in the inland empire I was excited but the place fell short of being as good as I thought it was going to be. If you decide to come try this place stick to the sushi was very delicious and cocktails were too hope you get better service than we did.

Wonderful sushi restaurant in Downtown Los Angeles. The food was excellent and they have fish tanks above you in some areas. Valet is a bit pricey, but parking is limited.

Even tho I just watched Seaspiracy, I was still able to enjoy the beautiful ambiance at Mrs. Fish. Definitely valet if you can. I think it’s $12/13. Ladies! There’s a lot of stairs to walk down. Keep that in mind when making shoe selections. Otherwise the decor is super sexy, dimly lit and romantic. Lots of cool art. Food and service was good and decent prices. This is right next door to perch. Although seafood is the speciality there are meat, poultry, vegetarian and vegan options. I recommend. Fun experience. Reservation requires a credit card.

Ambience was decent but the food was subpar for the price you pay. The presentation of the food is mediocre compared to places in Las Vegas in the same price range. The drinks however, are where they excelled. All the cocktails were enjoyed by our party.

I recently had the privilege of experiencing the culinary wonders of Mrs. Fish Restaurant, and I must say, it was an absolute joy! From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted with an inviting and warm ambiance. The restaurant's stylish and sophisticated decor created an atmosphere that was both classy and welcoming. The gastronomic journey I embarked upon at Mrs. Fish was truly exceptional. The menu presented a wide array of delectable dishes, catering to every palate and preference. Each plate was a masterpiece, skillfully crafted with the finest, freshest ingredients. The flavors were bold, inventive, and impeccably balanced, leaving me craving more with each and every bite. One remarkable aspect of Mrs. Fish was their extraordinary selection of seafood. The freshness and quality of the ocean's bounty were evident in every dish. From the plump and succulent oysters to the perfectly seared scallops, each seafood creation was a celebration of the sea's treasures. The chefs showcased their expertise in preparing seafood, and their passion truly shone through in every tantalizing mouthful. The service at Mrs. Fish was nothing short of impeccable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and highly knowledgeable. They provided expert recommendations and ensured that every aspect of my dining experience was flawless. The waitstaff was prompt and efficient, ensuring that I was well taken care of throughout the evening. The lively atmosphere of the restaurant was further enhanced by the enchanting live music, creating a vibrant and enjoyable ambiance. Whether it was an intimate dinner or a lively gathering with friends, Mrs. Fish proved to be the perfect setting for any occasion. In addition to the outstanding food and service, Mrs. Fish boasted an impressive selection of beverages. The cocktail menu was a work of art, featuring innovative concoctions that were both visually stunning and incredibly delicious. The talented bartenders showcased their skills, crafting beverages with precision and creativity. Overall, my experience at Mrs. Fish Restaurant was truly unforgettable. The combination of exquisite cuisine, impeccable service, and vibrant atmosphere made it a standout dining destination. I wholeheartedly recommend Mrs. Fish to anyone seeking an exceptional culinary adventure. It is a haven where seafood enthusiasts and food lovers alike can indulge in a feast for all the senses. A heartfelt thank you to the entire team at Mrs. Fish for creating such unforgettable moments. I eagerly anticipate my next visit to savor the culinary delights once again!

Great service. A little too great... fish was very fresh and light. Not a big fan of their California but perhaps it's my fault for ordering that roll at a place like this. Go for the shashimi! And the pork belly skewer. Their happy hour has great prices! I was also pleased they had live music on a Tuesday night... I love to eat fish under fish.

Decent experience. Easy to get to as far as valet & public parking. Food is good except I’m a sushi enthusiast and the sashimi so thinly cut here cannot satisfy my cravings or worth the price, I think. Try other stuffs but take your sushi craving elsewhere. Worth a visit again to try other stuffs. Pricing: $$ decently priced. Overall score based on location, food, experience = 8/10

Went here for my anniversary with my partner, and every server mare sure to wish us a happy anniversary! It was such a nice little touch. There was also live music which provided such a stellar atmosphere. As far as the food, what CAN’T I say! The sushi and drinks were absolutely incredible. I ate here once with a friend before I decided to bring my partner, and I had a unique and delicious experience every single time. Also, the mural leading downstairs to the restaurant is easily one of my favorite things (second only to the huge aquariums). All in all, the food rocks, the atmosphere is classy and fun, and the service is out of this world.

Ambiance is good, receptionist was friendly, but food portion is small for the price. Parking can be tough, and their valet is $13! It’s the type of place I’d visit once but probably not worth coming back again.

Food was amazing! Atmosphere was great. Service could be a lot better. After they served us the food we were pretty much on our own. No one came to our table for 40 minutes, and we really wanted to order more sushi and drinks. We had to flag someone down just to pay the bill.

Hands down favorite restaurant. Everyone and I mean EVERY SINGLE PERSON we interacted with was so eager to ensure we had a wonderful experience. I saw this restaurant on IG and knew I wanted to try it. Let me tell you...there are restaurants that have such a nice vibe and beautiful decor but then the food comes and is mediocre at best... NOT MRS FISH!!!! The food was perfection! We ordered the seared tuna on crispy rice (amazing), the skirt steak skewers (delicious), pork gyoza (best I've had), Kurobuta Pork Ramen (wow, wow wow), the kaisen roll (fantastic), spicy tuna roll (with that slice of pepper on top...devine!), and the obayen roll (lobster and wagyu?! Yum!)...every single dish made me keep repeating that I'd def be coming back. Drinks were phenomenal too!!! Get the Hattori Hanzo if you like a spicy drink. The DJ was playing hit after hit, old school and new school. The whole experience and vibe was sooo on point. Our server Mario knew the menu well, gave us recommendations and was on point with everything. Even the doormen at both Perch and Mrs Fish were friendly and attentive. I most definitely will be back 10x over.

Amazing presentation. Classy delivery and packaging for To Go. Some of the fish, especially the Mackerel has a fishy smell. I'm a commercial fisherman and I know when fish smells like this it's not fresh. I did not get sick. I can tell there is plenty of brine and vinegar that they use to keep the food safe. I will be coming back. Excellent.

This is a really cool restaurant. Loved their ceiling fish tank and art. Everything we ordered was delicious, buty personal favorites was the uni noodles, garlic green beans and the roll (which we ate so fast there was no time for a photo). We went with a baby, not tye best choice of restaurant, but that is on us for not researching thoroughly.

The food was delicious. Portions were small but delicious. The ambience was cool. The waiters were attentive and nice. The music was really good. The DJ was playing the good hits. The chocolate cake was to die for. Not too sweet but sweet enough!!! They were nice enough to celebrate our anniversary with cute little shots!

  • 4/5 Margaret S. 1 year ago on Google
I can't give a 5 because the food is only so so. They try too hard on flavors and every dish feels like the sauce is overpowering the fish and udon. However, ambiance is excellent, fun and really clever how they did it for an underground place. Clever and fun.

Mrs Fish is definitely an Insta-worthy spot, but is the food good?! Let me tell you… YES it is! I was impressed how fantastic their food was and happy with our dinner experience. We bought a variety of appetizers, sushi and hot items, there no bad dish! I loved the shishito peppers, had mushrooms with it- one of my favorites we ordered! The udon soups were yummy, sushi fresh and their Uni Pasta (think that’s the name) was rich and so delicious! Seriously, Mrs Fish just ain’t all show for IG, but food is worth coming for! Great vibes here. Loved how they played old skool and 90s R&B/ Hip Hop during the night! I will love to come back, it was a fun night!

Feels like you're under the sea while eating sushi and Japanese fusion food! When you enter, you walk down a steep set of stairs to see a giant fish tank on the ceiling. The restaurant is laid out over several half levels above and below the main floor. It makes the restaurant nicely spaced out, and some booths feel almost completely isolated from the rest of the restaurant. Drinks wise, the cocktails were tasty and strong, but a bit small. My favorite was this matcha cocktail with the straw sticking out from... well look at the photo 🤣 Food wise, I got a signature roll and an assortment of sashimi. One roll is definitely sufficient for one person. They had barracuda sashimi, which surprisingly was tasty! It was like a cross between eel and yellow tail. The uni sashimi was also fresh, and delicious with the ginger and wasabi.

Me and My Wife celebrated our 7 year anniversary here! We fell in love with the aesthetic of the place!! When you get there you have to walk down some stairs into a basement haha dont let that scare you its very well lit in there Beautyful! Theres a huge Fish tank in the ceiling and paintings everywhere! The Menu was awesome from Chicken Skewers, to Gold Flake covered Sushie! They do require you come in High End Casual Clothing and you must call ahead and make a reservation! The Service was always quick and the Wagyu Steak was superb! 10/10 Thank you Mrs Fish for making our anniversary a night to Remember!
