Oh my! My husband and I wanted to try a new restaurant for Sunday lunch. The dish I had at Felix’s BBQ in Oceanside, CA, was soooo DELICIOUS! I got their new dish, Louisiana Cajun Classic - catfish with this amazing and flavorful orange Alfredo sauce. The Catfish was cooked perfectly, every bite was so juicy. The collard greens were seasoned well and tasty, the macaroni and cheese was good too! My husband enjoyed his baby back ribs and he loved the collard greens and Mac as well! We had great service and great food - So glad we checked this place out!

I ordered the full rack of baby back ribs with coleslaw and sweet potato fries ($32). We also got 1lb of brisket ($15, not on their regular menu). Very good value on the brisket. We ordered the fatty cut. It did have a lot of fat, but we did ask for the fatty cut so we can't really complain about that. Also it seemed like if anything, they gave us more than a pound. Our waitress was very nice. Sides were decent. Rib meat fell off the bone. Brisket tasted great. Their BBQ sauce was good. My only real complaint is their tall tables are kind of tall with chairs not high enough, and very uncomfortable chairs too. I could feel the wood bar under the cushion like I was sitting on a 10 year worn out pillow with most of the filling gone. However, I wouldn't remove a star just over that considering the overall experience.

Been here a handful of times. Most of the time it was a pickup order. This was actually the second time I'd ever dined in. The very first time was when they had first opened. Today, the food was exceptionally good. I ordered the brisket with a side of collard greens and cabbage. The brisket was tender, juicy and not overly sauced. The greens and cabbage were nicely seasoned. The cabbage had a sweet buttery flavor and it still had a bit of a crunch (which I prefer). The staff were friendly and attentive. They provided good service. The only negative was that the lighting could be a tad brighter, especially for tables near the back (by the bathrooms). Otherwise, this was a very pleasant experience.

Delicious! You will not go home hungry, portions are on the bigger side. Loved the southern fried chicken sandwich with baked beans side ( the sandwich doesn't come with a saw so pour the baked beans on top of it trust me you won't regret it unless you're wearing white). Corn bread and the braised cabbage are so good! Plenty of parking. Family friendly place. Patio seating available.

Five Stars with Soul. First time guest on an October Saturday afternoon. A friendly voice welcomed me. The lady invited me to have a seat. Not familiar with the menu, I just ordered a lunch box special of fried catfish, fries, and coleslaw. Two fresh warm biscuits also came with the meal. My drink was just iced water with a slice of lemon. It was a nice, simple lunch. Everyone was friendly and attentive. I usually would check out the restroom, but I didn’t need to go this time. Overall, the restaurant looked very clean. The plates and silverware were fine. No chipped plates!!! It was a nice atmosphere for a lone diner like myself. I’ll come again. Don’t leave without a few big cookies. Five Stars with Soul….

Cute little restaurant. Veggie omelette was very tasty. Not over cooked. I could still taste the different vegetables. Restrooms could be gender neutral, no urinal. Women’s restroom could use a remodel or TLC. Evidence of a previous flooding. Laminate was bubbled and torn. The toilet seat was hanging on for dear life, don’t fall in if you chance it. Please stay seated ed for the whole ride! The chairs are a great idea in the restrooms, just get ones that are more sanitary and can handle the restrooms, the material was peeling. Maybe just changing the fabric and putting rubber tips on the legs footings for the occasionally restroom accidents. Other than that everything was great! Gonna try lunch or dinner, loved all the flavor!

I have eaten here many times over the last few years. I always get the catfish nuggets and fried okra. The catfish is very good but a little on the salty side. Less salt please. And the okra is perfection. I ate here again this week. Thought I’d try something different so I ordered the Beef Brisket Platter. Big Mistake!! The brisket was served sliced, about 7-8 slices. There was a trace of BBQ sauce. The beef was somewhat tuff and didn’t have much taste. But the worse thing about the beef was each slice was half fat. It was disgusting and I feel cheated, especially for the price. I won’t be going back to Felix’s.

This is Felix's original store. True to his philosophy and passion the food is traditional and delicious. I ordered the baby back ribs and catfish with hoppin' john and collard greens. As I told Felix the catfish was the best thing on the plate and the collards were the best thing off the plate. The fish coating was crispy, spicy and delicious and paired well with the delicate white fish. Not a trace of mud in the taste. The collards were slightly bitter, lightly salty and very tender. My wife had the southern fried chicken and pronounced it moist, crunchy and flavorful. If you want BBQ head for Felix's.

Felix is a local favorite of my family, my girlfriends and church members. Felix and his staff are very nice. The restaurant is relaxing and outdoor seating is available. If something isn’t right, they will make it right 🙂. I usually go for catfish nuggets and Mac n Cheese but this day I went outside my usual and tried the LOUISIANA CAJUN PASTA and OMG!!! I ordered it over mashed potatoes and it was delicious 😋. It also comes with garlic bread. Dip that bread into that sauce AND BABY (yum, yum, yum)! Perfect seasoning, smooth and comforting to the soul. Ideal for a cool night (especially with the rain storms we just had). It consist of Fresh Peppers, Onions, Andouille Sausage, Shrimp, Diced Chicken, Served With A Reduction of Alfredo Sauce, and a Sprinkle Of Felix Special Homemade Spice. Can’t go wrong ordering this awesome meal, add a sweet tea to seal the meal ☺️. Thank you Felix Team of Oceanside 👏🏽

It’s so unusual to find an outstanding BBQ restaurant. Felix’s is excellent. We had the baby back ribs, fried chicken, collard greens, Mac n cheese, coleslaw and cornbread. Everything was absolutely delicious! The fried chicken was amazing ❤️ We will be going back before heading back to Northern California. This is a must eat at place in Oceanside California.

Omar is always helpful in our many questions. He answers all our questions w patience n a smile. That’s important when we are in our 60’s , 70’s n 90’s. All your staff regardless of how busy they are give the best service with a smile. We will always come back. I chose the ox tails w rice and gravy and fried okra as a side. Excellent just excellent. Tender with every bite. Yes I had left over and yes it was just as good if not better the next day for lunch. We left laughing, happy and full.

We had the rib tips and baby back ribs. Southern beans and candied yams. It was DELICIOUS. Honestly the best bbq we have had in cali. Service was excellent and the table by the window was perfect.

If I can I’d give this place 10 stars. Food was amazing and the staff were incredibly nice and helpful. I’m from out of town and whenever I come back I will definitely be returning here. Love love love this place.

The employees are very kind and attentive. However the cleanliness of the restaurant and the quality of food made me regret choosing to go to Felix's instead of my usual place next door. Issues: Ordered coffee and they didn't have regular creamer, they only have French vanilla. We asked for sugar because the sugar tray was filled with empty packets of opened sugar. Both of our coffee cups were extremely dirty. I ordered the fried Chicken and waffles because that is one of my favorite Southern meals and it was lacking flavor. We also ordered the salmon croquet and it was horrible as it was extremely dry, overcooked, and not fresh salmon. The cleanliness of the facility bothered me most. The floor is sticky and oily. Everything is covered in dirt or grease. Honestly if the food was spectacular the cleanliness would have bothered me less.

Basically, I had no complaints. Great experience in Felix's BBQ restaurant. Friendly table service and yummy food. I was impressed by BBQ beef ribs which was tender and juicy, and each rib was huge! Better visit with an empty stomach. Non of us could finish one plate alone. Well recommended to meat lovers. The cleanness was good. No sticky table and crumbles on the ground.

We've been going to Felix's foe years! The corn bread muffins are sooo good! But be careful, you'll get full before your meal 🤣 I had the BBQ brisket, candied yams, and collard greens. They were all good, lightly seasoned and flavored, I did wish the yams had a little more umph to them... more cinnamon or something to make them really pop. The BBQ sauce is more of a loose liquid but the flavor is good, they offer regular of spicy. Regular is more savory than the spicy so its my favorite of the 2. The meat was super tender and juicy with a thick piece of fat across it. I got the Hibiscus Margarita and it was sweet and delicious! Next to the cornbread this was the absolute best part about the meal. The service was amazing! Our waitress was extremely attentive & knowledgeable and her smile added to the experience. The only reason they got a 4 in ambiance is because the seats are super uncomfortable on the right side (facing in to the front door) those benches seem to have been reupulstered over and over again with zero cushion in them so you feel the wood in your back and bottom. I weigh 142 and that's average in my eye. They always play great music, with the low lighting, and spacious table tops, if they would just upgrade those booths it would be perfect! We will continue to enjoy the food and atmosphere and suggest you stop by and give it a try!

Super sweet service. Everything we ordered was delicious! Pulled pork sandwich, gumbo, Cajun classic seafood dish and peach cobbler a la mode! We’ll back to try some more of your wonderful food. Thanks for a great experience!

Worth every mile!!! Felix's is about an hour away from us and considered a TREAT! We plan and prepare to make the trip and are never disappointed. The menu is amazing! Being from the South, soul food is often in short supply unless we make it ourselves, so it's very nice to have a place where we don't have to do the dishes. ;^) There is something for everyone's taste and preference, and the sweet tea is actually delicious! The service is good and the food is served hot and freshly made. The servings are plentiful as well, worth every penny. Again, worth the trip!

First time coming here and the customer service could use some work. I was NOT Greeted when I came in. The black older women just said “dine in or carry out??” After answering that question with carry out she said go ahead with your order” no explaining the menu or sides nothing. It seemed as though I was bothering her. Even when I asked questions. I felt very rushed. That part wasn’t pleasant. However, I opted for the vegetable plate with 4 sides and it came with 4 muffins and butter for $18. Everything was surprisingly good except the fried shredded cabbage which was not flavorful. That needs some work. Mac was good. I love the noodles. Rice and beans ,bomb! Candied yams smack!

I ALWAYS get the catfish nuggets. They were magnificent. I was really impressed with texture. Sweet Te was good and the sides (greens and cabbage) were scrumptious. I can't wait till my next trip!

My wife and I recently visited Felix's BBQ with Soul restaurant located in Oceanside, California, and everything that we ordered tasted great. The service was outstanding from the time we walked through the door until the time we left. The waitress checked on us frequently, answered any questions that we had, and made suggestion recommendations based on those questions. My wife ordered the Claire's Brisket meal with Yams and Collard Greens, and I ordered the ribtip meal with Mac & Cheese and the Braised Cabbage. I would recommend the half rack of ribs though, as they appear to offer more meat on them than the ribtips do. While the cabbage was well seasoned, I still added hot sauce to it, which, in my opinion, enhanced the overall flavor. I washed my meal down with an Arnold Palmer half sweet tea, half lemonade drink, which was in my top 10 of Arnold Palmer's I've ever tried. My wife ordered a Hibiscus Margarita, which she says tasted good and was refreshing. The atmosphere is always nice and chill, and the tables are wide so that you don't feel crowed once the food bowls and plates are served. They also have tv's on in the background (with sound muted) for customers who might be dining alone. I highly recommend that if you are in the Oceanside, California area for more than a day or so, you stop in and give Felix's BBQ and Soul a try.

I’ve dined in here handful of times and their food is consistently good. Their daily lunch specials are great value and so is their Happy Hour. Friendly service. The small shopping mall they are in is tucked away in the commercial area. There are plenty of parking. I’ll definitely come back when I’m in the area. Thank you and keep it up! 4.2/5 stars

Tried it because of high ratings and was not disappointed. The service was great the food was really good I would definitely recommend I will go back. Reasonable price. Also loved that they give you little muffins before you order that was a very pleasant surprise. Only thing beans both bacon and rice were okay not terrible or anything just okay but everything else was delicious

This restaurant!!! When anyone talks to me about BBQ, this place is my number one choice. This is no joke when I say, the meat falls off the bone and there is a ton of flavor to their BBQ. I drove from Los Angeles to Oceanside just for this. This is not my first taste of this delicious BBQ. The greens have just the right amount of heated seasoning for flavor. The bake beans are cooked with green and red bell pepper with just the right amount of seasoning. Cornbread is not extra a side dish like most BBQ restaurants. My Cornbread was warm and fluffy. Adding some butter and the cornbread melted. The cornbread is not dry. The service was awesome. They made sure I had everything thing I ordered before I walked out the door. There is so much food you will have leftovers or enough to share with another person. Back in 2013, I asked the owner please consider coming to Los Angeles CA.

Being a born and raised Texan finding great barbecue (and may I add sweet tea) is very hard to find here in California… but with a touch of soul food? Oh I knew I had to go! I came across Felix’s BBQ and was immediately sold by the reviews! A childhood friend from Texas was in town so I thought this was a great spot to have dinner with him at. May I first say that the sweet tea was my first thing I wanted to try because no one out here makes good southern sweet tea and I was floored by my first sip the sweet tea was amazing! I ordered the Louisiana Cajun dinner which consisted of a fried fish fillet topped with shrimp crawfish crab meat a side of red beans and rice and a side of candied yams. The menu was listed with so many things I wanted to eat however I wanted some soul🙃 Well my first bite into the fish was delicious my only thought was to savor each bite. My red beans and rice had a little too much beans I didn’t really get rice so that was kind of off for me. But the candied yams were perfect soft warm sweet very very good. My friend had the ox tails and I could tell by his face on his first bite they were perfectly made. I will definitely be back now that I found Felix‘s BBQ Service was great, pricing was worth what I ate, food came out fast, and you would think a place like this should be busy but it wasn’t we were sat immediately and the deliciously warm cornbread and butter came out soon as we sat down . Please everyone go to Felix‘s BBQ and do your belly a favor!

I have not been disappointed with any thing I ordered from Felix's BBQ. Everything is great, flavoring perfect, food always freshly made even the unsweetened tea was delicious. Make sure you get desert too. You will not regret it. Now the Staff ** they do an amazing job from the time you walk in to the time you leave. Great people with great positive energy giving the whole atmosphere the vibe of "family" while listening to some really good ole school music. A place for ALL to enjoy.
