Absolutely amazing sights of the entire city, just breathtaking. The museum is very informative and nice. Highly recommend if you're visiting to take this place in. Plan on spending a while here as you take in everything. Do yourself a favor and plan towards the end of the day so you can see the city in the daytime and nighttime. Very beautiful aight to behold.

The most known park of Los Angeles, which has a lot to offer. There are plenty of amazing hiking trails for all levels and lengths. Although it is definitely very popular with tourists and locals, coming in the early morning definitely helps to beat the crowds. We really enjoyed the visit.

FREE street parking on the weekends from 8-10am! Such a peaceful park with amazing views of LA and the Hollywood sign. Climb up high enough and you can see the observatory, LA skyline and the Hollywood sign all at once. Such a tranquil escape from the traffic and loudness of LA. Sadly I only had a few hours here and only got to do a few trails but there are a ton of them. A very popular and busy park in LA. Absolutely beautiful.

Amazing place to visit whether it be for the park, trails, views, observatory, etc... Whatever you're in the mood for, there's something for everyone at the Griffith. There's plenty of parking throughout the park, but gets harder the closer you get to the Observatory. The Observatory offers great 360 views of the city on two different levels. It's also very educational inside. It's a great place to visit whether it being during the day, sunset, or night. As far as the park and trails, they're always clean and well-maintained. Great place for the family and anyone of all ages.

Beautiful park with an Observatory at the top. There are lots of hiking trails. Please watch the posted signs. Pay attention to the posted signs for parking on the way to the top as well as at the Observatory’s lot. $10 per hour! There’s free parking down the hill on the Western side and another on the Vermont side (Greek Theater).

This is a must do if you get the opportunity We had no idea what to expect but what we got was 1. A great view of the Hollywood sign 2. Decent food in the Cafe 3. Gorgeous views of the city and mountains 4. A free museum area about space. This is easily a half day experience And more... It way exceeded our expectations and we will likely return on our next trip

It’s free to get in but remember to bring your vaccination card and ID as it’s required for entry. I recommend you come later in the day to watch the sunset 🌅. Parking is very difficult so be prepared to walk if you cannot snag parking up top. There is a designated ride share drop off / pick up point so this can be an option to. I also recommend you watch the planetary show for $10 a person. If you want to go to the Cafe/ Gift shop, make sure you’re here before 6pm

So excited this is back open to the public for all the inside activities and shows! It's free, fun, educational and beautiful on the inside. The architecture and interior alone is a work of art that continues to carve its pathway in the importance of history! Be sure the catch the demonstration of the Tesla Coil, and a must see is the Planetarium show. Sunsets on the top of the West terrace, and moon rises via the Zeiss telescope on the East deck! 💞

Had an incredible time here and the views were spectacular. The hills up are pretty tough but definitely worth it. I was on an e-bike so it made the trip up quite easy. There were a lot of cyclists coming down at huge speeds so don’t hug the inside of the corners in case they don’t make their corner coming down the hill. I will be going back because I was limited for time and I hope to see much more

Beautiful observatory, amazing view of the city. Great museum inside. Be ready to stand in humongous line to look through their main telescope though at a weekend night, though they have 3-4 smaller telescopes outside with shorter lines that they claim have the same power and do the same job.

Beautiful!!! Want to spend quality time with friends or family? With over 4,300 acres of gorgeous natural green space, Griffith Park is one of Los Angeles’ best attractions. It is the largest public park in the US, and boasts a huge variety of exciting activities, sights, and attractions, with every single member of the family catered for, from youngest to oldest. Bordered by the LA River to the north and east and the Hollywood Hills to the west. To the south is the epic landscape of Beachwood Canyon and the park is one of the most picturesque spots that the City of Angels has to offer. The view is one of its best features, with a stunning panorama offering a bird’s-eye vista of pretty much the entire city. It’s a wonderful place to get out of the hustle and bustle of LA life, take a breath, and get back to nature!

This is where Angelenos who say they like hiking go to stretch their legs. The park is full of heart pumping fire roads that require bringing lots of water and heat preparation. Located near the LA zoo, train town, an old yet loud carousel, a kids play park, and more, this place can be fun. It's even host to a little nature, including the famous mountain lion P22. (Don't worry, he's not interested in us, only other easier snacks, like koalas.) I gave this park five stars for the spectacular views. Otherwise it's a bit crowded for my taste.

We spent our last night in LA at this gorgeous, iconic place. What a view! It was crowded but was fine. You can see views from everywhere. Definitely go inside and see the museum. Traffic was heavy getting in and out, so plan for that. We opted to walk down via the trail. Great choice, just know that it is STEEP and dusty, so be careful. Shoes with good tread would be recommended.

Saw this place more than hundred times on TV, but you don't realize how astonishing Griffith Observatory is until you are here in person. The building of the observatory itself is such an elegant architecture situated up on the hill of Hollywood, plus the story of Mr. Griffith, this is definitely a must visit place when you are in LA downtown area. Meanwhile, this is also the perfect location to appreciate the night view of the Great LA metropolitan area, just utterly beautiful.

One of my favorite places in LA. You can’t beat it! Combination of architecture, trails, space and good weather is hard to beat. When things open again, the observatory inside is also really nice and has interesting things to look at. But my true favorite is the openness from the outside.

We parked up front on a Saturday afternoon. Only four dollars an hour! Which is totally worth it because the observatory is free. You have to pay to park down the hill as well. I know there's a free lot but not sure where or how far you'll have to walk. The observatory has two upstairs wings to explore and learn about space and light. The Tesla coil goes off about every hour 12:20 p.m., 1:20 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3:50 p.m., 4:50 p.m., 5:50 p.m., 7:20 p.m., 8:20 p.m., 9:30 p.m.) And downstairs is dedicated to the planets. Outside you can find iconic views of Los Angeles and the Hollywood sign.

Absolutely breathtaking views. This adventure we parked at the old zoo exhibit, had a picnic in the grass under a tree, then explored the upper terrain and even ventured off the beaten path to get even more of a scenic overlook. These photos were shot from the east side of the park, looking eastward towards Glendale, and Eagle Rock. By far a fun quick nature getaway in the urban area of LA. Thanks, parks and recreation!

Great location for seeing the Hollywood sign and hiking up from the hills below. Great views of the city landscape and really nice houses in the hills area. Up at the top, when the observatory is open, there are tours to see the telescopes and learn about the area, however, this is not open every day and sometimes is closed for private events. Park down in Griffith park and walk the mile up to the observatory on a dirt path (can also walk to the sign from there). There is a water bottle filling station at the observatory to the right of the parking lot when facing away from the observatory.

Best place in LA to see the classic HOLLYWOOD sign. The park and the observatory are nice and well maintained and well worth the visit. The problem is getting there. The parking lot is small and, when we were arriving, employees told us that there were no more spaces and that we would have to park along the access road. The parking meter only accepts a card and then the problem begins. Italians who were in front of us didn't have (I don't know why) the cards accepted .... I ended up paying them a penalty. The climb is relatively steep and along the climb there were still a very reasonable number of parking spaces - that is - we could have left the car much closer. Access to some sectors of the observatory is paid and it didn't seem worth it because it wasn't very cheap. But the ride is worth it ..

So much to explore at Griffith! And the history on this land is amazing as well. The Old LA Zoo is inside the park and its primate dens are still standing, its incredible. My family and I have enjoyed picnics, birthdays and even hikes here. I see other visitors doing yoga, biking and sometimes painting. I have so many photos of this park and will have to pull them off of my external hard drive to load here. Until then, here is a photo of the stairs leading up to the primate den. This entire park is tranquil with a very special energy :)

(Translated by Google) A beautiful view of Los Angeles. It is really worthwhile to come here and let the city work its magic on you. Unfortunately the observatory was closed, but we should have had better information beforehand. We did the climb on foot, which is not unsporting. The way by car is probably more comfortable (Original) Ein wunderschöner Ausblick auf Los Angeles. Amazing views of the city and the hills from the observatory. Great spot for a picnic, hike, or photoshoot. If you're going to see the sunset, be sure to get there early as there's a lot of traffic on the way up and it gets very crowded very fast. Proof of vaccination is required for entry into the building

Griffith Park is open and free to the public. Tho parking can be a hassle. There is one way up and one way down. There's a metered parking lot up on top of the hill and parking along the road up the hill. There's only permit parking going down the hill. We opted to pay $4 an hour and stayed an hour. Ultimately, this is a great educational opportunity, but it is also an ideal landmark with a wonderful Vista view of the valley; including the famous Hollywood Hills sign. On clearer days, you'll get a better view of Los Angeles or the stars at night. There's free exhibits explaining space and telescope information at the observatory. I really enjoyed seeing the active pendulum clock. For an extra fee, there's shows in the planetarium. At the bottom of the hill, there's picnic areas and the Greek Theater. Every member of the family can enjoy this landmark.

Nestled in the heart of Los Angeles, stands as a testament to urban green spaces. It's not just a park; it's an escape. The iconic Griffith Observatory offers both educational experiences and breathtaking views of the L.A. skyline. Trails, like the one leading to the Hollywood Sign, cater to hikers of all levels, revealing panoramic vistas at their peaks. The Los Angeles Zoo, train rides, and horseback adventures ensure there's something for everyone. The park's historical merit, combined with its recreational opportunities, makes it a must-visit for both locals and tourists. A green haven in a bustling city!

I came with my family and it was a great experience. The view is so beautiful, there is a museum inside, a theater, a dinner and a small shop. The many downside to this is that it's all the way to the peak as well it is so packed. There are so many people. The bus is free if you don't want to walk or take a car since the higher you go parking is more expensive.

After so many years of wanting to visit, finally got to do it. This was one of the coolest places to see in Los Angeles. The exhibition of great. The sad part is that the telescope was closed. But the views from the area were great. If you like hiking park on the side. So many trails to come up.

Although it was a little foggy when we visited it was still a great view of the city and an excellent view of the famous Hollywood sign. Plus I got my wings (as you can see) and it was a good time to visit with traffic and parking, which was great, with very little tourists. Definitely would make the effort to get there.

Absolutely a must place to visit. There is so much to see and learn about inside the Observatory. It is free to enter. The view is wonderful and the best part. We stayed 4 hours and saw most but not all of it. We didn't see any of the videos that you have to pay for ($10 per adult). Traffic is terrible. We took the bus and found free parking just down the hill (near the Greek theater). Unfortunately we missed out on looking through the telescope because it didn't open until 7:00pm. I would go back and plan to hike.

This place is worth the visit. You can park on street for free, just don’t go too near to the building. You may have to walk a little bit but it’s fun. Restroom is on the way. You can see LA lights at night. Watching Tesla coil operated was one of the best experiences. You can get lot of information on astronomy.

Amazing views! Make sure to avoid holidays or prime time weekends, as it can get very very crowded! Hint: instead of waiting incredible amounts of time in car in line to get to the top / observatory, you can easily park at the base of the hill and then walk the 16-20 minutes up towards the observatory. There is a lot more parking at the basement.

What a beautiful view of Los Angeles and the Hollywood sign. There is free parking, and an area you can pay and park. You'll still need to walk a great distance and up an incline. So wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Be prepared for the weather as it can be windy at the Observatory. People were bringing their pets as well. We stayed for the planetarium presentation which was approximately 25 minutes. The line starts outside so if you want a seat in the back, get on line early. Don't forget to locate the James Dean bust at the park. The telescope is open in the evenings. The cafe has a small menu, ready made items and such.

It's always a pleasure to visit this place with out of town guests. There's something for everybody! For fitness and hiking enthusiasts, this place offers opportunities for both. For science enthusiasts like my 13-year old, this is a place to explore and get an introduction about the heavens and some celestial bodies. For movie enthusiasts like myself, the place took me back to memories of a classic James Dean flick I watched on video tape with my folks. Beautiful views, a challenging trail, a chance to engage your inner science nerd to learn and explore. A must check out LA destination for sure.

Parking is a nightmare and you will find all of LA hanging out here during sunset. Great views if you are lucky to miss the fog. The observatory is closed most week days so couldn't make it in there but it's supposedly good based on reviews from friends. If you can find parking, worth the visit.

A hill above Los Angeles, providing a bit of recreation and, at the end, a breathtaking view. There is also a platform at the top where you can see the famous Hollywood sign. The route is easy and convenient, but there are many different routes to the top. You can walk, cycle...there are also rattlesnakes on the trail but don't let that scare you away as they are smart and prefer to get out of the way when it gets too crowded.

Unparalleled park that's close enough to the city for it to be easily accessible, yet large enough that you still feel like you're escaping into nature. Come for a visit to the famed Griffith Observatory, a hike to the Hollywood sign, a picnic in the grassy picnic areas, or incredible views of the city in all directions (especially at sunset). One of my absolute favorite spots in LA. Ease of parking depends on which of the several entrances you use. Generally speaking, it's pretty tough on the "front" (south) side facing the city and a little easier on the back side to the northeast.

Many educational stuff inside the observatory. The telescope is open from 7pm to 10pm I believe (i don't remember). I went in the day but the view is better at night with the city lights. Parking was very hard and the hike adds up the more you park away. The street without street parking (the one which goes through the tunnel to reach the observatory) has parking lots at the bottom relatively closer to the observatory.

Fantastic view - visited during sunrise, day, sunset and night. In every single time was different and beautiful - most unique was night- sunrise. Parking costs 10$ per hour - quite expensive but is worth visiting. Is a beautiful spot, visiting the inside is also worth doing at least once. Pictures with the bronze wings is a must have for a trip in city of angels. Nice touch!

Griffith Park, situated in Los Angeles, California, is a vast urban park celebrated for its natural splendor and captivating vistas of the city. Encompassing over 4,000 acres, it offers a wide array of outdoor activities, such as hiking and biking, and presents opportunities to observe wildlife in their natural habitat. The park’s renowned Griffith Observatory features informative exhibits and telescopes for stargazing. Furthermore, the panoramic views from the park’s elevated points, including the iconic Hollywood Sign, are truly breathtaking. Despite visiting on a weekday, the park was still bustling with crowds, and we experienced a lengthy wait to enter the planetarium for an amazing show. Nonetheless, we thoroughly enjoyed watching it and had a great time. All in all, Griffith Park is an essential destination that seamlessly combines nature, culture, and recreational pursuits.

Just happened to visit during the summer solstice. Such a neat place, especially for fans of astronomy or if you want a close up of the Hollywood sign. Griffith Park has so much to do with several attractions, hiking trails, and places to picnic, but the observatory is the heart. Only the Getty has comparable views of the LA skyline.

Griffith Park has become my traditional go to place on January 1st for the last 5 Yrs. It offers many trails from easy, (Bronson Cave) to moderate-challenging, hike to the Hollywood Sign. Trails are well kept, and not like other trails where people have sadly been leaving trash behind. I ask, that you leave the trails better than what you found them. Because so much talk about global warming, yet people leave aluminum cans, plastic bottles Etc that are not biodegradable and contribute to harming animals and nature. Let's Help Preserve Nature's Beauty to enjoy not only for us now, but for the generations to come. Thank you kindly.

Packed with people on weekends but worth the trip! A lot to do and explore now that they have built the new wing underground. The shows are fantastic and intriguing, and the exhibits are interesting and interactive. The views of LA are stunning! Can't say I recommend the cafeteria- the food is low quality and the fruit cups are moldy. Eat elsewhere and then enjoy everything else this wonderful park and Observatory have to offer!

What's not to like about Griffith Park? It's an incredible natural oasis in the heart of Los Angeles. One fascinating detail that adds to its charm is how the lines in the cement are meticulously aligned to true north and true east-west. Even more impressive is the fact that the downstairs stairwell perfectly aligns with the North Star when you use the handrail as a guide to align your eyes toward the night sky. This attention to detail showcases the thought and care put into making Griffith Park a truly special place for all to enjoy.

Amazing view of LA and the Hollywood sign. Definitely come on a clear day or night to get the best out of it. A lot of people park the car and hike up, but on a sunny hot day, it can be a difficult hike up. Would recommend finding parking on the side of the hill and walking to the observatory as close as possible. Nice place to soak in the views, read a book, or take some instaworthy pictures. Beware of large tourist groups as this is a touristy destination. The best part is, it's free.

Griffith Park is a true gem in Los Angeles. The park offers a wide range of activities and attractions, from the iconic Griffith Observatory to numerous hiking trails. The views of the city from the observatory are breathtaking, especially at sunset. However, the park can get quite crowded, so it's best to go early or on weekdays to enjoy a more peaceful experience. I was also pleased with the cleanliness and maintenance of the park. It's a must-visit destination for both tourists and locals, offering a perfect blend of nature and culture in the heart of LA.

The one place I try to visit every time I go to Los Angeles. The Griffith Observatory sits up on a small mountain above Los Angeles. The panoramic views are incredible not to mention that this site has been in many movies over the decades, including James Dean's, "Rebel Without a Cause" . You can still stand in the exact spot where James Dean's character was involved in a knife fight in the movie. The Observatory itself is a wondrous place and the planetarium is great. The telescope in the observatory is still used and will soon be undergoing equipment updates to make it more modern. This is a wonderful place to visit. However, in the last several years parking has gone from free at the Observatory itself to $10 an hour which is outrageous. Unless you want to pay for several hours to visit the Observatory and Planetarium I suggest that you park down lower in Griffith Park near the Greek Theater parking lots. If you walk across the street from the parking lot there is a bus stop for a shuttle that runs approximately every 15 to 20 minutes. That way you can go up and down to and from the observatory for free as parking costs nothing down in the lower levels.

Here you can leave your car and go to the inscription. The walk will take 1 hour 20 minutes. It is better to take food and water with you right away. Also if you are on the free bus it runs every 15 minutes. There is no entertainment on the site, except for the observatory, but this place is interesting because it offers a good view of the city and the "Hollywood"

A good place to spend a day on your weekend. We reached Griffith around 3pm, we then hiked from there to the Hollywood sign. Watched the sunset at Hollywood hiked back to Griffith(Total distance including back and forth was 11 miles) then visited the observatory , watched the short movie and the day was all set. All in all a pleasant experience

It was a lot of fun! The hike up to the top is worth it! The observatory has a lot of exhibits & is interactive for all ages! The history behind the observatory is remarkable & for it to be located in the middle of the 2nd largest metropolitan area in the States is truly amazing. All the attendants & workers are well-versed in astronomy, science & space! A must do when you visit Los Angeles!

Great place to bring kids with a wandering mind. Its cheaper much cheaper to be a member of the Griffith Park you pay 105.00$ for a while year which includes admission for 2 adults and 5 kids. Not only that but they give you a list of places you can receive a discount off of admission. The train ride and the carousel only accepts cash! Plus side the kids had fun!

We had been to Griffith Park many years ago, and we were really impressed with this trip compared to our last one. We went this weekend. The weather was great.. mid-60, and sunny. All the animals were out. We got to see multiple feedings (cat's, giraffe, penguins, etc). We have season passes to happy hallow and were also able to use those for a ticket discount here.

A lot of people and dogs. The air is eucalyptus scented and crisp. You can hike as high as you like or go on a less inclined path. The food in the area is also great so expect a good lunch afterwards.

Not sure why this entry says the park is closed , the only thing closed is the observatory. All the paths are open . I have passed thru la many times but never knew of this place, it is amazing . The views are right up there with the best of the world. You can see downtown , hollywood sign and the ocean. So amazing . I think its worth it to pay 15 dollars for parking at the top

Nice hike last weekend. Not too hot. This is a good place to do a regular hike. Has a lot of trails that can be taken on different days so that you don't get tired of seeing the same view over and over. So far we've take four routes/trails going to the observatory and the sign. All trails are easy hikes with varying elevations which makes it a bit challenging. There are tough rugged trails that are available but sometimes too hard because they are not frequently used by many. There are also a lot who do horseback riding up to the top. All peaks have a beautiful view of Los Angeles. It is always best to hike when it's cooler than on summertime.

Really amazing place for fantastic views and knowledge on space. It should be known that unless you pay for parking, you're gonna have a bad time finding any at all and the walk up the mountain will be a mission. But aside from all that this place is gorgeous. Great view of LA, and good view of the Hollywood sign. Side note: you may notice the lines for the bathroom outside, just go inside and use the bathroom downstairs. No one really knows about those and you don't have to pay to get in.

  • 5/5 Huma P. 2 years ago on Google
Very cool place. Especially the view was to die for. Its paid parking for those of you who don't want to hike up the trail. They do check the meter time so becareful. If you are looking to go for the sunset. GET THERE EARLY. The view was just beautiful.

If you are visiting Los Angeles, chances are you will visit the Griffith Observatory on your trip, with good reason. This is one of the best views of the city during the day and at night, and you can also see the Hollywood sign from here during the day. The Observatory is free to visit and there is plenty to learn about astronomy and telescopes. In the basement there is information about asteroids and every planet - including the ability to weight yourself on each planet! The Adler planetarium is a wonderful experience as well and I would recommend paying for the show at least once!

Loved the hike up Mount Hollywood. Picnic tables and shade at Dante's View is the perfect lunch spot. On to the top of Mount Hollywood where are the view of the Griffith observatory, Hollywood sign and Los Angeles is unparalleled. Best to go on a clear day. The parking is free until noon Monday through Friday at the observatory or you can park at the Greek and take the Dash shuttle up. About 2.75 roundtrip hike. No bathrooms once you leave the parking area

Go easy on me...Adele performed right here. It was so nice to see my first Sun Dial, see the orbits of different planets. The observatory was closed but views are fantastic. You can see the Hollywood sign. Parking fees has to be paid $20. Everything was smooth, there were people guiding the traffic. Another location to NOT MISS when in LA. The grass is so green. There us hiking trails as well for hiking/jogging.

Griffith Park is a beautiful area. The drive includes gorgeous homes and scenic nature. I specifically went to see the observatory and wasn't disappointed. There are some minor issues currently, including the tesla coil and other various attractions being out of order when I went. There are plenty of hand sanitizing stations around all the attractions and they provide free masks. The observatory requires vaccination cards and you're not allowed to take in any food or drinks. I would also like to comment on the parking. There are very few disabled parking spots and the signs are a bit confusing. There's lower parking that requires a lot of walking. It's very hard to turn around in that area as the road leads down the mountain. The upper parking is better but costs $10 per hour currently. Overall I had a wonderful time with my friends and enjoyed taking photos and interacting with the displays. I only wish some of the bigger attractions were in working conditions. Better disabled parking directions would be appreciated too.

Great place to take in the skyline! We tried to park in paid parking, but it was full ALL day and the dash buses are not reliable due to staffing shortages. Best to plan for walking. Exhibits are nice but we were done within an hour. Wish we would have timed it later to be able to use the telescope (after 7).

Well, our tour guide took us here on a Monday when the Observatory is closed. I really wanted to be able to look through the telescope. However, the views of LA and the surrounding area are really nice. You can see the Hollywood sign really good and the trees are really beautiful and majestic.

  • 5/5 Gülay . 10 months ago on Google
You should definitely watch sunset from here. You can hike during the day, it's a perfect activity if you have time. Sometimes, they set up a telescope to watch the moon and other planets. There is a parking also. By the way, you can have picnic 😊

  • 4/5 Nathan T. 11 months ago on Google
Popped up to watch the sunset while on a short holiday there. Unfortunately the parking was limited so I was dropped off while the person driving the car had to wait a couple miles down the hill. The views were utterly spectacular. The Observatory was pristine and everyone was very friendly. We were able to walk all the way around the observatory without paying for entry and enjoyed the incredible views of the LA city skyline as well as the Hollywood sign. There were a couple of free telescopes set up for people to look at the night sky which was a nice addition. We also walked to the nearby Berlin park which is where my cousin got married recently to appreciate the natural beauty of the area. All in all, a lovely trip up to the Observatory accompanied by our dog.

Defiantly a place you want to visit for its amazing views of the city and the trails that are in the surrounding area. It was a great experience to step into the Griffith Observatory. If you like to take pictures bring a zoom lens and get creative

Fun experience. Finding parking was obnoxious and it only gets worse through the rest of the day. Multiple places for photo ops with the observatory, LA skyline, Hollywood sign, telescopes. Also the tunnel called Mt. Hollywood tunnel was used in back to the future. That tunnel is close by. A lot of cool things to do in the observatory but can be packed with people. One tip, you may get lucky with Sunday morning to noon parking. Try checking the parking all the way to the top first before committing to a relatively long hike.

  • 5/5 C M. 9 months ago on Google

I've always loved visiting here since I was little. I finally was able to bring my daughter to see the observatory. If you park in the main parking lot it's 10.00 per hour. You can park down in the lower levels but it is a hike up or you can wait for a bus to bring you up. I'm not sure if there's a fee for that.

  • 4/5 Josie C. 9 months ago on Google
My son has a blast!! Although, we had to 🚶‍♀️ 🚶‍♂️ a long way to get there. He enjoyed it so much that we found the solar system down the west side, we went almost all exposition and upstairs to the terrace. I was exhausted but glad to see his happy face. I think we missed the gifts store only....

Great park with lots of things to do, like walking on trails, hiking, or just admiring the view of the cities skyline from the observatory. You get a really good view of the city of Los Angeles from where the observatory stands and also the Hollywood sign, which is great. Very nice viewpoint of the surrounding area, definitely worth checking out.

It’s mind boggling that the Griffith Observatory is free, but equally mind boggling how it’s taken me this long to visit. If you’re coming in a weekend, be prepared for a long wait to find parking along the paid upper lot. The lot itself is small so you will most likely need to park on the windy street leading up to the Observatory, but the parking lane is wide and easy to maneuver. Beautiful space outdoors and indoors, with many exhibits and friendly staff. Good for a nice 1-2 hours even without purchasing a ticket for one of the planetarium shows.

  • 5/5 Duha A. 9 months ago on Google
Great park with special Hollywood sign photo opportunities. The way up to the park is quite challenging yet beautiful. Nice picnic area and small playground for little kids. Street free parking available nearby, no restrooms in the site.

  • 4/5 Cassandra L. 8 months ago on Google
Beautiful exhibits, excellent people watching, breathtaking views of the city, hills & Hollywood sign. Easy free shuttle from the Greek Theater. Only 4 stars due to lack of handicapped parking, and the Tesla coil was out of order.

  • 4/5 Jon P. 7 months ago on Google
The view is amazing and you can get some really good pics of the city but it's not really close to the Hollywood sign. Close enough for a decent pic. You can hike up the hill a mile or two or you can catch a bus both ways that runs about every 20 minutes

  • 5/5 Scott H. 7 months ago on Google
Place is great! Definitely a must see. You get great views of LA and the Hollywood sign. Would recommend. They have like day time events to see, they have a wonderful sunset that does get crowded, also a night show. But be careful I tried goin at night and the theater nearby got out and shut the road down. So make sure to be prepared to drive a while Incase traffic is bad or the road is closed and you have to go another way.

Amazing place to learn about the cosmos. Had a work trip and was able to get away to do something touristy. I'm glad I went to the Griffith Observatory. Apparently, Saturn has 145 moons! I highly recommend paying a visit to this place. Kid friendly too!

The Griffith Observatory was on our list of places to visit during our stay in Los Angeles. We should have gotten there earlier in the afternoon, though. We didn't arrive until almost 6 pm. The traffic was terrible, but it was worth it. We did park in one of the free parking lots, but it was quite a walk uphill. Walking back was a breeze! I was a bit disappointed that the roof area was closed due to rain the night before. If you love science, there was still a lot to see, and the views from the Observatory were spectacular at night.

It's a must visit place for people who love science and even otherwise provides great scenic view with access to trails all around the hill. Just that you might have to walk uphill from the road side parking as this place can really get crowded. The planetarium is a must watch. The narrators there are simply amazing.

  • 5/5 Nellie C. 4 months ago on Google
Beautiful place! Free and paid parking are both available. If you like walking, park at the free parking. Otherwise, pay $10. Before you go, check the weather. You want to see the Hollywood sign and explore the outside of the Observatory.

The Griffith Observatory, situated on Mount Hollywood, features a range of space-related exhibits, a planetarium, and telescopes for public use. The location provides breathtaking panoramas of Los Angeles and is a hub for astronomy enthusiasts. Griffith Observatory's night views are spectacular, offering a stunning panorama of the city lights below. The observatory hosts regular public telescope viewings, allowing visitors to observe celestial objects like planets and stars. The nighttime experience is enhanced by the absence of city glare, making it an ideal spot for stargazing and enjoying the beauty of the night sky.

The Griffith Observatory isn’t a place you can miss when visiting LA. There is something here for any visitor, regardless of your specific interests or age. The exhibits are beautifully made, and the shows are artfully done. Go before sundown to see the sun set over the Los Angeles down town, and stay after dark to look through the telescopes on the roof. We got to see the moons of Jupiter in high contrast. Would go again in an instant!

Such a great variety of hiking trails- we did a nice easy 3 hour hike starting from the carousel parking lot all the way up to the vista plateau and stayed there for enjoying the view of the observatory and downtown LA. We got a bit twisted up on the way down but made it eventually- a peaceful, calm hike.
