This place is beautiful. Even on a day full of rain and cold weather we absolutely loved walking through and exploring everything this place has to offer. Plenty of plant scenery with a nice mixture of architecture, sculptures, and the galleries in between. The shop was fun to walk through and the coffee place had surprisingly delicious hot chocolate! Whether you have a few hours or a good chunk of the day to use you can definitely enjoy spending it here.

They’ll be checking your tickets twice! So don’t put it away after the first time. I went on a weekend 11 AM and it wasn’t too busy. Parking was packed though. Lots of flowers and life here! If you go right, then you’ll hit the museum first. Its chilly in there so if it’s hot, go to the museum to cool off. They do have a kids area where kids can play with water and mist! They also have a greenhouse you can explore. The entire place is beautiful! I think they can add a bit more directions on floor or around the gardens. We got lost since it’s so big. Their gift shop things are so cute too!

Amazing place. You can easily spend a whole day here, maybe two days. There are multiple art museums, and so many different gardens. Visited in January when a lot of the plants were barely starting to bloom but it’s was still very lovely. Highly recommend membership if you live in the area at all.

Although the ticket costs about $25, it is definitely worth the price. The gardens are exquisitely beautiful, with meticulous design and maintenance evident throughout. Any attractions labeled on the map are not to be missed. This is an ideal place not just for studying, but also for relaxing and taking photos. Visiting in February is too early as many other areas were not yet ready for visitors. However, we still had a wonderful experience exploring the Japanese garden, Chinese garden, and the tropical and desert gardens. It would be best to plan a visit in and after April. If I were a local resident, I would definitely purchase a membership and visit the place every week.

I had a great time at these gardens! There’s lots of things to see and visit in this area. There’s a lot of variety of plants and animals, as well as different cultures to appreciate their unique shrubbery and plants. The art exhibits were very beautiful as well, most noticeably the “Blue Boy”. I really liked this experience, and I would hope to come back and see some other exhibitions soon!

The Boone Gallery is my favorite Gallery here! The gardens are wonderful. It definitely has a corporate feel now that it is not owned by the family. I love the succulent varieties here. The Japanese garden is getting a wonderful renovation to the tea house! I really can't wait!

What a place. You have museums, library, shops, dining, and amazing gardens. This place has it all. Spend a day or a couple hours. Find one of many quick bite dining options and keep walking this beautiful botanical garden. Tons of places to sit and take in the scenery and relax those feet. Price: $25 per adult Parking: Free and plenty No lines to get in and plenty of staff working. Great for families or a date. This place needs a Boutique bed-and-breakfast. If one could take a stroll at night and sleep in this tranquil environment then wake up to a beautiful breakfast over looking a section of the park taking in that aroma of the flowers and the sounds of the birds that would be awesome.

Third time here. Becoming a member if you live within an hour drive or less is worth it. It's an amazing place to visit and see all the areas on the grounds. Some buildings were closed for reasons unknown since I didn't read the signs, but still a great place to relax and see some great sights and take photos. Super kid friendly too. Cafe with tons meal options on site. They offer little mini cart rides too, but plan on walking so pack accordingly and bring water as well (they do sell it also)

Absolutely an amazing collection of themed gardens and landscapes. While some look good year round, late Spring and Summer are the best times to come see everything in bloom, especially the rose garden. Plan on a whole day to tour gardens and maybe have time to visit some of the museum collections. There is a tea house which is lovely for lunch. Plenty of subject matter if you are a photographer. If I lived nearby, would certainly pickup a membership.

Beautiful gardens and library! Make sure you buy the tickets in advance or reserve if you are a member. Usually it takes a while to park the car. The bonsai court, Japanese and Chinese gardens are awesome. The kids will definitely enjoy the children’s gardens and tropical gardens!

The Huntington Gardens & Library is absolutely amazing! The beauty of the trees, plants and flowers is beyond description. The quality of the artwork and manuscripts on display is awe-inspiring. We had the best tour with a docent named Nicholas on Sunday morning. He was incredibly well-informed about the history of the property, the different types of vegetation, and the history of the artwork. We loved it so much, we bought a membership because we plan to go back many times throughout the year!

A great place. Numerous oil paintings are all around. They are beautiful and awesome. Admission ticket is $29 for weekend and $25 for weekday. Parking is free. Need to make a reservation for weekend visit. There are too many things to see. Better be there before 11am to see all of them. A place that must visit if you are traveling in LA

This is one of my favorite places to visit when I can. There is so many things to do here that I feel like going once or twice definitely isn't enough. There are so many art galleries and the buildings of the galleries are also so beautiful. It's a great place to come rain or shine. During good weather, you can wander all the gardens and on rainy or cold days, it's all the galleries. They have so many themed gardens. I highly recommend visiting. I'm still waiting to do tea in the tea room and hope one day I can get reservations there. Instagram: @TheShahLALand

Spent a couple of hours strolling through the grounds and exploring the American Art and the European Art. The Japanese, Chinese and Rose gardens were gorgeous. The library was mostly closed and very low-light to safeguard the precious contents, including an early Shakespeare Folio. If you like high tea, they have a very upscale tea room (budget about $75 pp.) They had plenty of parking, which was helpful. It’s smart to order tickets in advance. (You might get lucky during off-season, but you might not.) If we’d had all day, I could have visited every one of their gardens.

An absolutely beautiful spot to check out for locals and tourists alike. Ticket prices are a bit high, but totally worth it! You gain access to the library, art gallery, and the expansive grounds with many acres of different themed gardens. My personal favourite is the Chinese Garden. You could easily spend an entire day here exploring the grounds, and because they’re so expansive, it never feels crowded, even on a busy summer day. There are also a number of food, drink, and coffee options on-site should you feel hungry. All in all a great experience, highly recommend checking it out!

This is a wonderful botanical garden! I was so surprised at how large it is and all the things there are to see - I would recommend coming here with at least 3 hours of time. Unfortunately I only had about 1.5-2 hours and feel like I missed so much. The Asian gardens were very cool - especially the bonsai trees! The lily ponds were also nice. Do bring a lot of sunscreen or a hat as it can get very hot and sunny in places. I will be back to check out some more of the indoor galleries that I missed on my first visit.

The Huntington Library in the city of San Marino is such a lovely place to visit! Every first Thursday of the month is free of admissions. Reservations must be made in advance. My favorites here are the botanical gardens, such as the Rose, Japanese, Chinese, Shakespeare, and desert gardens. There are indoor museums and cafes as well. Get your cameras ready to snap beautiful pictures.

What a beautiful property! We purchased tickets for a Saturday about a week and a half ahead of time. We purchased for 10AM, which is when they open to non-members. Parking is free, but can fill up quickly. Definitely bring water and snacks, this place is gigantic and can be a trek back to the coffee shop and restaurants. We enjoyed it so much, we became members.

Huntington Library, is a very nice centrally located attraction that is well worth a visit. It is very quiet and completely different from the hustle and bustle of the city. You can imagine the mood when Henry bought it more than 100 years ago. Looking at the hand-painted maps hanging on the wall in the exhibition hall, imagine the scene of the year for yourself. It's so beautiful. . It is a pity that the main building is not open due to rotating exhibits, which is a pity. I can only visit other small pavilions. I spent 45 minutes in Virginia Steele Scott Galleries, which is very worth seeing. The gardens and botanical gardens here are very beautiful. I like it here very much. There are many people on weekends. If you have time, it is best to go on weekdays, which is quieter. I can really visit here for a day. It is recommended to go early. I arrived around 1 pm, and I feel that 4 hours is definitely not enough.

Amazing place to visit. I went to the Japanese and Chinese gardens. It’s so pleasant and relaxing to walk around the grand beautifully landscaped grounds. I had a wonderfully prepared lunch of shrimp and cold noodle salad in the Chinese Garden cafe. The bonsais in the Japanese garden are a must see. Next time I go I want to see the Australian and desert gardens.

This is my favorite botanical garden in southern California. It is massive! I really love the bonsai collection and the desert theme garden. The Chinese and Japanese gardens are particular beautiful. Plus there are a plethora of libraries to explore each with unique exhibits and collections. There is plenty of free parking. I missed on the past 3 corpse flower blooms this year, hoping to catch one before we hit 2022!

Gorgeous all-around. Desert exhibit was truly magnificent and had every iteration of succulents imaginable. The Japanese and Chinese gardens were likewise well-tended to and simply thriving. If you are looking for a day of serenity and immersion into the natural wonders of the world, look no further! Only drawbacks were that the Japanese/Chinese gardens were closed off, unsure if they are doing some revival work or if they just wanted me to purchase the additional $20+ plus ticket for the 90-minute walking tour to see them. Either way, it is disappointing to only see them from the external pathway. In all, a pleasant experience and worth the trip.

Absolutely worth the trip. World class garden. Huge. The cactus garden was unbelievably beautiful as were the Japanese and Chinese gardens. The jungle section was pretty cool too. We didn't have time to see any of the museums because we were too busy with the gardens. I'd go again in a heartbeat.

Wow! Just wow! The gardens are amazing! You need more than one day here just to see all the beautiful gardens! My favorite gardens were the Japanese gardens. The museum of European Art, home to Pinkie and Blue Boy was also excellent and definitely worth a visit. Great experience overall and we’ll definitely have to come back!

Beautiful gardens, very nicely designed. I recommend buying tickets/making reservations in advance; we did so and there was no wait time. We visited the Chinese and Japanese Gardens, and they were amazing! In particular, the Japanese Garden had a really nice Bonsai tree section that I enjoyed. It was very sunny and hot, though, so if you’re visiting in the summer, hats and sunscreen are a must.

Make sure you stop by the Chinese gardens. The Bonsai on display there are just incredible. The structures and lake make for an impressive addition to what is already a beautiful landscape. The admission price was somewhat high, but well worth it. I spent the whole day there and wished I had an extra day to explore every corner of this beautiful place.

We love coming here. It’s a nice getaway from the city, with lots of beautiful green space. I highly recommend checking out the Japanese and Chinese gardens. Exquisite stonework, stunning architecture, and lots of beautiful bonsai plants. Once the tea room reopens we’ll be back. Come for the day, get lunch, have a time.

The best and biggest botanical garden I’ve ever been to. The place is so huge so you will be doing A LOT of walking make sure to bring comfortable shoes! Also bring some sunscreen. There is just so much to see here you will spend hours of exploring. Made an reservation on free day for 12 pm and didn’t leave until closing, I still didn’t get to see everything! The greenhouse, the desert, the jungle, Chinese & Japanese gardens are just so beautifully breathtaking the Huntington really takes care of this special place. I only wish they had a transportation system Bc there is just SO MUCH WALKING. I think I did like 12,000 steps that day 🥵

Absolutely beautiful garden. I went to see the desert garden which was amazing but ended up spending most of my time in the Chinese and Japanese gardens. Really beautiful. Plan time to just sit and reflect especially in the bamboo around the Lilly pond. Go early before the crowds get so big you can’t enjoy it.

The Huntington is a true gem in LA County - immaculate gardens, gorgeous historic buildings, world class art and sculpture. My personal faves for a one day visit: the Desert Garden (massive array of huge cacti and succulents); Japanese Garden (exquisite landscaping and bonsai); Chinese Garden (grand pavilions around a beautiful lake); Huntington mansion (filled with British and European art). There is far more to see than can be viewed in one day, so I highly recommend an annual membership if you’re a local resident. Reservations often have to be made for a weekend visit, so plan ahead to avoid disappointment. And leave time for the gift shop, it’s curated just as good as the art galleries!

We spent most of the day at this remarkable property. The gardens are just jaw dropping, particularly the Chinese and Japanese gardens. The rose garden was in full bloom and stunning. The children’s garden was charming. Other high points were the galleries and library. The European artist gallery is in the Huntington residence and you get to see how the home was furnished as well as tour the many rooms of European painting from the 1700s to present day. American art is housed in modern gallery and covers all the arts including a terrific quilt collection, paintings and decorative art. The dining table and chairs designed by FLW was a delight. One area that should not be missed is the Library exhibition hall. They display a Gutenberg Bible and an Audubon Birds of NA. For us it was the perfect way to finish our visit. Plan at least four to five hours to see everything. There are several choices for dining including the Jade cafe in the Chinese garden and a large dining hall with a market for take out for picnics and a buffet. Lots of outdoor terrace seating. Overall, the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens get a five star rating and a rare five clams in the coveted Five Quahog Rating Scale.

This place is magical!! If you are searching for a unique day filled with exploration and amongst gorgeous gardens, this is your spot! Make sure you book a reservation online as they do sell out. Wear your walking shoes, sunscreen and bring a light jacket. I recommend being here for at least half a day. I visited for the first time (as a member) with my cousin and we had a wonderful time walking and soaking in the views. The gift shop is fantastic and filled with great things for your home. We were unable to stay the entire day, so I have not been in the library yet, but I walked by and it’s just beautiful! My favorite spot was definitely the Japanese gardens and waterfall. Bring a fully charged cell phone or camera because you’ll want to take pictures of all the beauty at this pristine location. My cousin and I both left feeling recharged and so happy. This place is good for the soul.

I loved it! You get to walk through almost a maze of all sorts of beautiful and exotic plants, trees, and flowers from different parts of the world. It was a peaceful walk that didn't feel rushed or packed. A mini paradise at its best! Although there is a lot of parking it was still a lil tough to find a spot.

What a wonderful place to visit! A bit on the pricey side to get in but if you love plants and walking it's worth it. Lots of areas to rest while going between gardens. There's also little carts that will pick you up and take you to different areas if you have someone in your group that cannot make the full hike around the property. This place also has a amazing gift shop. So many cute things to collect. There was even jams that were made with the fruit from the property!

Used to go by myself since the 1960's. Have had many wonderful dates there also. Took my oldest son there, he loves history. Majored at Long Beach State in history. Graduated from there about 1970's. Haven't been back for a long time. Love the Rose Garden and Pinkie and Blue Boy. Overdue for a visit. Thank You Mr. & Mrs. Huntington.

I've come to these gardens again and again since I was a child. In high school I rode my bike over and did homework in the Japanese Garden. Now I meet friends for walks, pilgrimages, celebrations, lunches... I find beauty, memories, surprises, peace of mind here. I recommend it highly. Can you tell?

Amazing place to visit with family and friends that park is maintained well and its beautiful. There are 4 to 5 sections in the parks which sets the ambience of each section to a particular country. So section and it's own style of flowers and trees plants. I personally loved the desert park with variety of cactus and thorns plants.

It gets really hot and finding drinking water in the gardens is surprisingly challenging. Can’t wait to go back, see the gardens in different seasons and explore the museum.

The botanical garden is breathtakingly beautiful. The rose garden was fully bloomed and smelled so nicely. We were so impressed by the vast collection of roses. We discovered at least four types of mint in theherb gardens. All gardens were very well planned and taken care of. We could have spent so much more time there and already can't await to return. The mansion turned museum is equally impressive. Students get a reduced ticket price. The Restaurants on the premises have good dishes and snacks. We also liked their souvenir shop.

The botanical garden that you must visit. Variety of climate zones from desert to tropics is rather big - make sure to spend at least 2-3 hours. Japan garden location with bonsai trees warmed my heart - so many of them and so lovely! If you’re into art - check modern art one and the one with library, Italian art and sculptures.

I don’t know if this is blasphemous but personally I prefer Descanso over Huntington. There’s a lot of space here between the gardens. I wish I had known how to plan my visit better and what I was able to bring. You absolutely must bring water, a hat, sunscreen, and food/snacks. Spent four hours here and still didn’t have time to fit in the American art museum. I was most looking forward to the library aspect and was quite disappointed I didn’t get to see more. The site says they have 11 million items. Where are they? There’s a couple dozen items on display which they call “highlights” of their collection. Incredible history on display but I expected more out of a “library”. It was a beautiful visit, the Japanese and Chinese gardens are a must as well as the European Art collection. The 1919 Cafe has a vast assortment of food choices that will satisfy anyone.

We decided to visit during a stay in Glendale. It was a about 30 minute drive from Glendale. The botanical garden was beautiful! It was an extremely warm day, but they do have water fountains in places that had refreshing cold water. The highlights were the roses and Japanese Gardens. They were so pretty! I would give yourself at least a few hours if you want to the majority of the botanical gardens as it's a good walk. We easily hit 15,000 steps during our visit.

Huge place, but definitely doable in one day, depending on how long you stay in each area. Worth checking out at least once if in the area - would recommend going either in the spring or fall. We went during the peak of summer (8/8/2023), and it was outrageously hot (humid too). Free parking

Absolutely love this place. Well organized, exquisitely maintained, and there's always something being added, repaired, or improved. The staff are always friendly and patient when I interact with them and it's never too busy to feel like you're unwelcome. Perfect for family walks, taking your grandparents to get some exercise, afternoon tea, a picnic, or just relaxing on the grass to get some sun. The food can be pricey but the Chinese garden restaurant has some great options. The BBQ jackfruit vegan sandwich and the noodles are highly recommended. Make sure to make an appointment in advance if you want to visit during high-traffic periods.

Incredible!!! Even better than I expected. I considered buying a membership and I don't even live in LA. 😂 They were setting up for a members only Halloween event as we were leaving Friday and it looked like it was going to be amazing!! Can't wait to go back. We were there for 5-6 hours, including a tearoom experience in the Rose Garden, and didn't see everything. Granted, we were there with a baby, but it was an easy place to go with the family. Very stroller accessible.

Probably one of my favorite things to do in LA. It’s on over 207 acres of land. Split between different areas of plants🪴They have Chinese buildings with activities to do calligraphy, play games and eat food. There was a beautiful Japanese garden with dedicated area to bonzai trees 🌲 My wife loved the desert scenarios and delicious cafeteria food! You can literally be hiking and walking in this place all day and be entertained. If you haven’t been then you definitely need to visit!

It is so beautiful here. I could spend all day here, just looking at nature showing off. The museums will also trap you for hours— there is so much to see there too! After hours of walking around until our feet hurt, we discovered there’s a shuttle that could take us back to the front, and when we got to the front again, we got stuck for an additional hour in the beautiful gift shop. I purchased a year-long membership, so I will continue coming back often.

This place was incredible!! I’m a recent graduate in horticulture so it was amazing to see the huge variety of plants on the property. The desert gardens were by far my favorite part of the whole property, but I also thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the gardens that we saw as well as the American Art displays. I was worried the gardens would be a little sparse since I visited in the winter, but there was more than enough to see thriving on the grounds. I would recommend buying tickets in advance and getting there when it opens so you can avoid any crowds. You also need to plan spending several hours here if you want to see all that is has to offer!

A Decent public garden, museum in Southern California. Due to Covid19, museum is closed, but still worth visiting outside green. Recent visit, not many people around, nicer to look around, and take pictures with my family. Good!

Super fun evening with spectacular views. I was skeptical, especially given the long drive for me but ended up enjoying the beautiful gardens and light displays.

What an amazing garden. Two hours is barely enough to walk through most of the main trails. You could spend much longer lingering and enjoying the views.

Well worth the time and cost. Beautiful gardens that transport you out of the busy city and life to a tranquil location of peace. Highly recommended, safe environment, during this time in our lives.

Beautiful, tranquil gardens. Great day to explore for a few hours enjoying mother nature. Located in a residential community. The gardens are very well kept and great little trails to explore. Definitely recommend if you love flowers. They also have 1 free entry the 3rd Tuesday of every month. Be sure to book online for those tickets. Make sure you go early or expect to park in the neighborhood and stroll over. Overall, my family had a fun experience seeing what nature offers.

One of my favorite spots in Pasadena. Due to COVID, there are a lot of new precautions in place. Most paths are one way in the Japanese and Chinese gardens, which generally seems to have the most foot traffic. There are attendants who make sure people are wearing masks. Temperature checks at the entrance and many hand sanitizer spots!

  • 4/5 Colleen P. 3 years ago on Google
Although some of the ways has been closed and not accessible because the covid 19 but still very nice scenes to enjoy. You would never get tired and as you walk you are seeing very beautiful places here. The only thing is the wait line and also make sure to buy your ticket in advance because of social distancing they dont allow many inside.

  • 5/5 Fabian R. 3 years ago on Google
Such a great garden. You can easily get lost there for the day. Forget the map. Just walk. Bring water bottle. Essential with covid right now. Bring some snacks too and just enjoy the day. Bring an audio book or favortie podcast or listen to music. Great place to walk around given the many closures out there. During this time you need to reserve ahead and online though.

The Huntington is open but only for walking amongst the hundred and twenty acre grounds. Normally a five-star experience without access to the museum or galleries is -1 *. Entry is by online appointment only but one advantage of this is there are no crowds. Parking is a breeze and it feels like you have the place to yourself. It's a great place for long walks or simply sitting in the shade and reading a book. The Many varied Gardens and landscapes are an ever-present source of wonder and beauty. Well worth the cost of membership.

The Huntington is an amazing place to walk around. Unfortunately some of the cafes and areas are closed due to Covid, but the silver-lining is there are fewer people wandering around with you. Great for photography and teaching kids about plants from around the world. My kiddos also enjoyed seeing squirrels and bunnies along with the massive koi fish in the ponds.

Fantastic. Even with every building closed except for the gardens. The Chinese and Japanese gardens was worth it. A 2 hour tour on foot easily. We went free with the program for local students and their family. Great views, bigger then I thought.

The Huntington Library has long been a landmark in Los Angeles, and it's a place we visit every year. There have been wedding proposals and special events in this beautiful garden and museum. The gardens are massive, with different areas representing different themes. Our go to places are always the Japanese Garden, Chinese Garden, Rose Garden, and the Desert Garden. There are other locations that are nice, too, but those are our favorites. The museums are also nice to visit, too. The best time to go are probably during the months of April through June, when many of the flowers are in full bloom. The other months are nice, too, but the blooming flowers vary in those months. Overall, it's a wonderful and beautiful place to visit.

Beautiful! You have to make a reservation ahead of time and pay your entrance fee. There is plenty of parking. It's hard to believe that such a beautiful garden can be in the middle of a neighborhood. There are many different lands: Japanese garden, desert garden, rose garden, etc. We also ate at the Cafe. My protein lunch was very good. There was plenty of seating that was spaced apart.

This place is a real gem. It has so many areas to stroll through and you feel like you're not in CA. I really enjoyed my time here although I wasn't able to go through the whole park, I loved what I saw. The gardens have some really interesting and beautiful flowers that will keep you wanting to stare at them. This place is a really good place to bring your kids because they have open grass areas to sit and have a picnic on. Lots of room for everyone to be honest and that is always so important. Hoping to go back someday for events they have.

They do take your temp and ask you normal health questions before you enter. Would totally go back... just not on the hottest weekend of the year.

During this COVID-19 time, members have to register for online reservations first prior to visiting. Then, your temperature is measured, and you turn right to confirm your reservation, such as time and number of people. Then you can walk around, but there are clearly marked arrows and do not enter stickers on the concrete walk path, so not as much freedom as pre- pandemic days of roaming around. The restaurant/cafetería 1919 isn't open till 11AM, which is later by half an hour than previously, although you can sit in the patio area, the tables have laminated cards, one side states it's cleaned, and the other side states needs to be cleaned. The little café in the front of the entrance area seems to be closed all the time, so best to bring your own water/ liquids to drink.

Beautiful day to be here! So much to see! Be sure to bring a face mask! Cafe was partially open - only seating outside. Next time we will consider bringing a blanket and having a picnic. Smart to bring a hat or parasol - especially during the hot summer months. Gift shop had so many great souvenirs and keepsakes in all price ranges. Would definitely be a great place to bring anyone visiting from out of state.

What’s not to like? The Conservatory is always peaceful, the rose garden is stunning, the Chinese garden can eat up 2-3 hours easily and is a picture of serenity plus parts of the museum are finally open again and the 18th and 19th century art is captivating. And that’s not to mention the several other gardens among the spacious estate. Plan on going more than once. Worth having a membership.

You could spend easily spend two days here if you're a fast walker or three. The Australian and Japanese gardens were closed due to tree falls. We bought tickets in advance and it was worth it. Remember to get your student discount ticket! We didn't even go to any of the inside exhibits and most of the restaurants were closed except the one near the entrance.

Beautiful gardens and grounds and public artwork. The Japanese and Chinese gardens make you really like you’re in Japan and China as well as the Australian garden. Great gift shop with a great collection of merchandise. Would have loved to check out the library but didn’t have time. Recommend becoming a member and come for at least two or three days to explore.

The grounds were beautiful, and the staff was friendly and very helpful! I was visiting LA with my family from another state, and lost my bag that had all my money and Id’s at the gardens. I realized when it was time for them to close that I lost it. We came upon one of the staff, Mathew, and he was very helpful! Mathew told us we could come back later for lost and found, but when we explained the situation, he was sympathetic understood and went looking for my bag at the end of what I’m sure was a very long work day! You can really tell he loves working there, and does a great job. He went above and beyond. All in all, I would recommend the gardens not only based on the amazing grounds and picturesque gardens, but the great staff!

  • 5/5 Courtney E. 2 years ago on Google
Amazing and expansive. I honestly didn’t expect to spend as much time here as we did, but it’s plenty of walking ! The gardens are beautiful and we really enjoyed the print works exhibit. I just wish the map was more detailed? We (and a few other families) were pretty mixed up as to where we were. The Suzhou style garden/architecture was a highlight for me!

  • 5/5 S E. 2 years ago on Google
A beautiful place to go! It's also the perfect date spot as well! So many gorgeous flowers and gardens set up and the library itself has historic paintings/sculptures to view as well. If you enjoy art galleries or floral gardens, this is the place to be!

This is my favorite place during my LA trip. It's a combination of library, botanical garden, art museum, Japanese garden, Chinese garden, etc... The staff/volunteers are super nice. They are willing to answer your questions. Bill, the staff/volunteer at the Rose Garden is very knowledgeable. Don't forget your student ID if you're a full time student. You get $4 off.

Absolutely gorgeous gardens. Varied regions like jungle, desert and lily ponds. The Japanese gardens were my favorite. Lunch in the café wasn’t overpriced like most museums can be. Highly recommend. Can easily spend a full day and not see it all.

  • 5/5 Aisha E. 1 year ago on Google
I highly recommend people visit this wonderful place. I would recommend 3-5 hours that you'd spend here. We spent about 4 hours and didn't see everything. There are about 8+ gardens with the Japanese garden being my fave. Check the site on which exhibits are closed. They are doing construction. It's so peaceful... I love the sculptures. The food in the Jade Cafe is really good.

Excellent. Need to purchase tickets but it's very extensive. Broad collection of British artists. The restored house is also quite s sight. The adjacent museum and gardens are very nice. Three Chinese and Japanese gardens are very nice. Don't miss these two last ones.

It was fabulous! We spent over 4 hours walking around and didn't see half of the exhibits. Our favorite gardens were the Chinese and Japanese gardens and the structures in the Children's garden. Loved the food, the statues and the gift store. Highly recommend!!

  • 5/5 Anthony S. 10 months ago on Google
The botanical gardens here are severely underrated. The grounds are extensive and having access to this tranquil retreat in the middle of a bustling LA suburb is a magnificent gem to be treasured. We spent 3 hours roaming the gardens and we didn't even cover everything nor did we even hit any of the galleries. The membership is a steal and it makes sense to come visit again especially if you live within LA County.

Definitely worth the visit! Tickets are a little on the pricey side but I spent the whole day in the gardens so it was worth it. The best part was the Japanese and Chinese gardens and this was clear due to how busy it was. The other parts of the gardens were also nice but less busy. I also enioyed the cactus garden - so many different varieties! The Australian gardens were a little less well maintained and further out. The galleries were also interesting although I much preferred wandering through the gardens. Decent options for lunch as well in the cafe. There is a very nice outdoor seating area.

August at The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens is a sensory feast for the senses. The botanical gardens are in full bloom, with vibrant colors and lush greenery at their peak. The Rose Garden is a particular highlight, boasting thousands of blooming roses in a spectrum of hues, creating a mesmerizing display of beauty and fragrance. As you explore the gardens, the warm August weather adds to the charm, making it an ideal time for leisurely strolls and picnics amidst the stunning landscapes. The Chinese Garden's tranquility is enhanced by the serenity of the lake and traditional architecture. In the art museum, exhibitions offer a fascinating blend of culture and history, providing a respite from the outdoor beauty. The opportunity to immerse yourself in world-class art and culture while surrounded by the splendor of the gardens is truly special. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, art lover, or simply seeking a serene and captivating escape, The Huntington in August offers an unforgettable experience. Just wow! This has to be one of the best museums in Southern California. Maybe even on the Western side of the United States. The Huntington has been on my to-do list for over 2 years and I finally got the chance to come here with my girlfriend. We were amazed by how enormous the place is. There are so many things to see. We didn't even get to finish doing everything. I highly recommend getting here when it opens so you have time to try to get it all done. We loved the gardens. I loved the European art. I don't think we had time to view the American art, nor did we get to see the conservatory in full. WE DID GET TO SEE A CORPSE PLANT, althought not bloomed. But it was still an awesome sight. We fell in love with this place and plan to come back to finish seeing the rest of the property. The gift shop is cute. And there is also a coffee shop at the entrance. 10/10. If this place charged me twice the general price, I'd still pay in a heartbeat. That's how great this place is.

This was a perfect place to go for my birthday date with my boyfriend! The gardens were absolutely beautiful and the museums were very well maintained and organized. I would definitely recommend going on a cooler day as only a few of the gardens have shade, but the museums are air conditioned! I would highly recommend coming here whether it's for a family outing or date, and can't wait to come back!

I rate the exceptional attraction at the Botanical Garden with no less than a five-star ✨ ⭐ rating. During my visit, I had the opportunity to explore the remarkable features, such as utilizing a microscope to capture my first-ever microscopic image of a leaf using my Pixel phone. The oil paintings on display left me in awe, and the vibrant array of colored fishe 🐠 🐟 including red, orange, golden yellow, black, and white, always leave a lasting impression. The captivating dwarf trees also consistently captivate my attention, prompting me to photograph them extensively during each visit to the Huntington Garden. I initially took advantage of the Free Day Tickets, available only once a year, for two visits. However, I have decided to become a member, granting me the privilege of enjoying the Garden's exquisite four-season colors and transformations throughout the entire year.

Wow! If you get a chance to go here, do not miss it! This is the most incredible botanical garden I've been to. Stunning! And huge! It's sprawling; I was there for 3 hours and only saw 2 gardens. Have plenty of time to explore, bring water and comfy shoes because you'll be walking A LOT. It's obviously going to be busy most days but weekends and special events will be busier. Also go earlier in the day when it's cooler and to limit time in the noonday sun. Food options onsite looked good. You will be taking lots of pictures. Give yourself plenty of time to ENJOY!!!

An Enchanting Escape at The Huntington I recently visited The Huntington in Los Angeles, and it was an unforgettable experience that I highly recommend to anyone visiting or living in this beautiful city. The gardens, art collections, and library exhibits are well-curated treasures that make the price of admission worth every penny. The highlight of my visit was the Desert Garden. I was fortunate enough to see it in full bloom, a rare and spectacular sight. The variety of cacti and succulents, interplaying with vibrant flowers, created a stunning tapestry of colors and forms that seemed almost otherworldly. It was a serene oasis that offered a moment of tranquility and awe amidst the bustle of city life. The Huntington is not just a place, but a journey through nature and art that captivates the soul. Whether you’re seeking inspiration, education, or just a beautiful day out, this institution is a must-see. It’s places like this that enrich our lives and remind us of the beauty that surrounds us.
