Despite all of the negative reviews, my most recent visit to this park was great. It was clean and quiet. Along the northwest side there are four cement chess tables with boards painted on. Pieces and chairs are available at the Recreation Center. Check the Facebook page for events; sometimes they bring out a large oversize board as well.

This review is for the playground at Pershing Square: The playground at Pershing square is a fun one for adults if you have kids. Age appropriate for 5-12, but my 2 year old had a great time here. Definitely a playground for kids who like to climb! I love the city views from this playground, you feel like you’re in the heart of the city. The playground has soft matting on the floor which is perfect to have below the high spider web-like play structure. Nice colorful benches to sit on, and large plastic boulder rocks.

Not many trees or shades in the hot day. This Square is perfectly located in the center of the fun and historical, safe area of the downtown LA. Parking is right under the square, so it is convenient to come and go. Plus, there are many bus stops and train stations around here, so you don't need to walk long. The square has a lot of status, many sitting areas, and kids play ground, so you can bring your families here. However, this big square or park, has no running water for people to wash their hands. There are no public restrooms, so you will not be able to stay long. Plus, there are very few trees, so it is pretty hot in the summer time, or just in a hot day. There are a lot of tall and beautiful buildings around this Square, so you will be able to enjoy the gorgeous view in the background.

Love this spot, great place with Free WiFi. You'll definitely see homeless people but they are pretty nice. Great place as a tourist to relax and plan your next stop!

A bright revitalized downtown-square park. I like this park for its attractive landscaping mixture of desert plants, abstract art shapes and the urban dwelling dog run(s). The park is somewhat popular during the day with residents of high rise apartments and condo’s, area hotel guests, the business community and the homeless. Although it has the potential to be a vibrant centerpiece town square, it seems to have fallen by the wayside, a bit more than city and civic leaders would like to admit! Unless there’s a large event planned for here, it remains to be seen as to whether this space will become anything more than a big landscaped parking structure roof with crisscrossing pathways. Giving credit where credit is due, the park has been cleaned up. And the City of Los Angeles has been making functional and visual improvements here. Security measures of surveillance cameras, signage, visible patrols and night lighting have increased the public confidence! I don’t recommend this park as a must-see place to go, as there’s nothing of any great interest to draw upon, or go out of one’s way for. Still, if in the area, I’d say it’s nice to see this park, if just for the urban sky scape along the way! There is access thru the Pershing Square Station for the Metro Rail subway service, just across S. Hill Street, at 5th Street. The small green structure outside the station entrance is a restroom with an attendant.

Very crowded for summer concerts. Unorganized and borderline dangerous crowding. Not enough toilets or water. Aslo, everyone was herded to a single exit piont that was in danger of a stampede. Los Angeles police did not care since it was "not thier" event. These concerts were better organized in the past, pre covid times.

Pershing square is a FREE park located in DTLA. Between Hill and Olive street on 6th and 5th street. I go there often and like it very much. There is a dog park, swing set for kids and a garden area. There are security guards there who ensure safety. Some people go for lunch breaks, most DLTAers walk their dogs in the park, others exercise, and some just chill there. During the summer the park hosts events and concerts. The park is a nice touch in a busy city. The park is undergoing some renovations and I'm EXCITED to see the outcome! The park is also a location where people gather to rally and protest. I recommend visiting this park!

Ice skating during Dec. Staff were friendly and helpful. It’s small so don’t expect a regular size rink. But oh so beautiful looking up at the buildings. Underground parking was $9 flat rate for evening. Places to eat within walking distance. I went on a weeknight. I have no idea how crowded it gets on weekends. You have to buy your tickets in advance and the time slots do sell out. I enjoyed it and I felt it was worth it just for the experience.

#Gr8 place to visit in person. Review their website for upcoming events throughout the year. There is children's playground area added to the park for Summer fun. 😁

This is an awesome breakfast spot. The coffee drinks are put in cups the size of soup bowls - you basically are getting two cups for one! The chai latte was delicious, and my wife liked her matcha latte. The breakfast was delicious as well. The pastries were fresh and tasty: I enjoyed a blueberry scone and chocolate croissant. I also had a the avocado toast, which was made perfectly!

Very unobstructed plaza with a stranger multilevel earthy layout that seems mostly empty most of the time. The plaza covers an underground parking garage and is adjacent to the subway station directly across the way from the square. It attracts all sorts of riff-raff, which seems perfectly normal given they’re not all homeless. But for sightseers it’s a bit of a bore like a movie you need to leave about halfway through. (That exciting…) since many of the surrounding architecture is about as empty too. Alas. Such quiet moments.

Downtown LA. Has a metro station. Have a look. The classic Biltmore Hotel is right there. You are welcome to walk through that original kept 100 year old building.

Pershing Square is regarded as one of the most poorly designed urban parks out there. For good reason - it feels pretty lifeless most of the time and there's nowhere near enough greenery. Additionally, it's full of shady people most of the time. During the holidays, though, it really comes alive with an outdoor skating rink that is quite nice. There are occasionally other events here too. Fun fact, there is an underground parking garage beneath the park.

Great covered and secure parking at downtown, slightly above average price. Easy in and easy out. The park is still nice even though much is taped off due to covid.

My cars passenger wing mirror got STOLEN right across the corner from here. Christmas tree is up and it’s beautiful and it’s an authentic Christmas tree! YES it’s real went up to smell it. Ice ring is small. Rating this place -1 starts because of how ghetto it is. Security Guard is on the other side of the park not even walking around the park. Homeless and sketchy people at night time. Don’t understand why Gotham has these nice restaurants out here it’s very dangerous.

Getting into event was a little crazy but after entering it was a Nice old school event, although you have to sit in the sun for hours before show started, however it was worth the wait because Rose Royce, Mary Jane Girls and Sugar Hill rocked the house. Clean fun for free, no issues everybody mingled and enjoyed the event with no problems.

There was an ice skating event there on Christmas Day. my fiance and I went. It was very fun. There were food vendors, a huge beautiful Christmas tree and a lot of lights. A lot of people and no drama! It was great. We will be going to the next event they have there Only catch is. Really Try and find parking on the street Do not park underneath Persian square in their parking garage because it says $9 flat rate for 3 hours but when you leave it's $20 and we were only there for about an hour and a half

Visitors can stroll through the park’s landscaped gardens, relax on shaded benches, or enjoy a picnic in designated areas. The park often hosts community events, art installations, and live performances, adding to its lively atmosphere. One of its notable features is the iconic and abstract fountain, a popular meeting point and a symbol of the park. This contemporary touch complements the surrounding historic architecture, creating a unique juxtaposition of old and new in the heart of downtown. It’s currently getting a facelift and will soon have trees and more greenery since it was lacking a ton of green spaces. There’s also a ton oh sketchy people at night and an affordable park lot underneath the park which is a plus.

What a great event they put on. It was the power tools 30 year anniversary party. Security was very strict but kind about how they approached rules violators there were still a lot of weed being smoked. Which is fine by me.

In the heart of the city with out of date elevators and so many different security uniforms. You have imposters posing as security, guards, at union station and the entire train routes. Safety endangerment and I am notifying the better business bureau and looking to sue people claiming to be metro train and bus personel. There are insurance and licenses that are to be publicly displayed. Amtrak railways and grey hound highways are licensed and bonded for public Safety by immigration international waterways trades agreement for employment and educational opportunities. The cost of each personal life transported at the same---- is the amount to be posted in advance of business opening. To include the advance bond of employee wages secured for 10 years on a railway and 5 years on a highway and 3 years on a local route per employee. There is no metro services. I recently had the pleasure of attending a 4-hour event, DTLA Dog Days, on behalf of Bailey's CBD for pets at Pershing Square in downtown Los Angeles. As a representative of my company, I was delighted by the overall experience and wanted to share my positive impressions. First and foremost, the security measures put in place during the event were commendable. The presence of security personnel helped create a safe and welcoming environment for all attendees, including families. I felt reassured throughout the event, and it contributed to a sense of comfort and peace of mind. One aspect that stood out to me was the limited presence of homelessness in the area. It was refreshing and pleasant to see a public space that was well-maintained and free from excessive homelessness. This added to the overall positive atmosphere and made the event more enjoyable for everyone present. Pershing Square itself is a national landmark and a true gem in downtown Los Angeles. Its beauty, historical significance, and well-maintained surroundings make it a must-visit destination, particularly for those visiting from out of town. The square attracts a diverse crowd, and during my visit, I witnessed many people enjoying the park with their beloved pets. It's heartwarming to see the bond between pet owners and their furry friends being celebrated in such a vibrant setting. While it's always important to exercise caution and be aware of one's surroundings, my experience at Pershing Square left me with a positive impression. It's a place where locals and visitors alike can come together, enjoy the ambiance, and appreciate the rich history of the city. I highly recommend a visit to Pershing Square when exploring downtown Los Angeles. Thank you, Pershing Square, for providing a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment for events like ours and for being a valuable asset to the community.

A non negotiable part of the LA experience. Skid row is right there contrasted with dramatic high rises, unique deco era buildings, elevated rooftop restaurants and of course the fabulous Biltmore! Don’t miss it!

A busy LA area.. Everything you can imagine is in walking distance. A TV show is being shot in a nearby Hotel. Another filming crew on the street... No matter the time. There is always people around

On a sunny and warm day Pershing square is a great place to stop relax and get plenty of Sun and look at the tall buildings... It's a great place to walk around and get plenty of exercise... Your subject to see other people doing various activities skateboarding riding their bikes walking their dogs or just kicking back in their own space enjoying being outside in an open place

This park is filled with homeless people carrying blankets left and right. It feels like skid row. I would definitely stay away at night. It's pretty seedy and does not feel safe. I would not recommend it during the day either unless you don't mind homeless people

  • 5/5 Jesse S. 1 year ago on Google
Fun place to walk. Plenty of seating. Cool views of the surrounding architecture and buildings in the area. They have a play area and shaded areas as well. Neat little park with artful designs.
