I was running and passing by hundred times before, but never entered. So nice that I finally did! Lovely place! And it is so different from any other parks that I've seen. I feel the atmosphere of fairytale and mystery in there - like a sort of Narnia. There's paths for hiking, lots of green grass for rest or picnic, the valley is so cozy and quiet and if you follow the lane with columns all the way up it will bring you in a very usual garden, full of various art objects (reminded me of a Pet cemetery by Stephen King though:))). Highly recommend this place.

Pretty awesome spot, a cool and green getaway. Hike, chill or exercise. It's unfortunate that this place has turned into a dog park. The city really needs to manage this park better. It should be utilized for picnics, hanging out, meditating and yoga ...

I like the trails here it connects you to Runyon canyon, very intensive yet beautiful scenic views too. They had a Buddha Shrine I loved, I heard some people vandalized the old sculpture during Covid, but the put a new one up. Very inspiring

This was a cool trail. It definitely gets kinda intense at times and there are some advance portions of some trails but nothing TOO serious. Definitely a lot of cool nature scenes and a lot small fields of pretty flowers, small funny statues and little shrines. The whole trail has an overall chill vibe and recommend for anybody that just needs a deep breath of fresh air and a way to detach from the world for a short bit.

Really cool little park, lots of small dogs running around, supposed to be on leash, but everyone was respectful and not rowdy. A decent amount of people on a Sunday afternoon, just sat there in the sun basking in the comfort of some really cool people.

Not bad hike. Not difficult, moderate. No toilets. Be careful with parking.

Beautiful park in Hollywood Hills that also serves as an unofficial off-leash dog park. Great place to have a picnic, relax in the grass or bring your dog. Mix of big and small dogs and no dedicated "small dog area", but owners tend to bring friendlier dogs and watch them pretty carefully. I love it here, but a few cautions: - This is a place where dogs play and humans picnic. If you don't watch carefully, a well-intentioned human might give your dog a snack (this happened to me and wasn't a big deal, but if it is for you, good to know). - Skip this park if you or your kids are scared of dogs and be careful with small children. Despite it technically being an "on leash" dog park, I've visited 5 or 6 times and never seen less than a dozen dogs running around off-leash. - If you aren't comfortable with your dog off-leash or your dog doesn't get along with other dogs, this place probably isn't the best choice -- all dogs seem to be off-leash.

Wattles Garden is a small park but it has a trailhead to the peak of Runyon Canyon. The trail is unpaved, steep, and strenuous. Some segments are also quite technical that hikers and runners should use caution. It meets the West Trail of Runyon Canyon. The trail has a wild vibe so it's nice to be immersed in the nature, but some parts are so steep that I find it hard to fully enjoy the trip.

A gorgeous little getaway, close to the in-laws. I can see my wife and I bringing our soon to be born son here for some mellow afternoons sitting out and relaxing, as well as to do a little bit of exploring. Plenty of places for great pictures. It can get a bit warm during the summer, so you might want to time your visits for earlier in the morning, otherwise make sure to give yourself plenty of time to wander slowly and sit in the shade periodically.

It’s small, but it’s a cool place to go see and pet some dogs if you want. Also, it’s got a nice view I think (if I remember correctly)

The park is lovely, charming, and small, and has a magical quality, especially the area that leads to the hiking trail which is filled with land art. However, I am annoyed that it seems to been taken over by off-leash dogs. The person I was with got scratched on their face by puppy that jumped up on us, and there were other issues between dogs and their owners as well, all off leash. Also, there are no restrooms that I was aware of. The grass in the front of the mansion and in general could be better maintained. The park was clean otherwise. Parking was easy, location ambiance was nice.

Good park to start hikes. Could use some more maintenance around the paths. Great views!

My new spot to explore...be aware people..there are coyotes besides snakes in this park.Wattles Park occupies approximately 50 acres (200,000 m2) of a long narrow corridor of space that rises 950 feet (290 m) from Hollywood Boulevard. The lower park is 4.13 acres (16,700 m2) in size and fronts on Hollywood Boulevard. The Wattles Mansion and formal garden area runs along the private roadway to the building. The early American garden area is directly behind the residence and was composed of rose and vegetable gardens. The Japanese teahouse along Curson Avenue was a gift to the City of Los Angeles from Nagoya, its sister city in Japan. The Japanese garden portion of the grounds was designed by Fugo, an influential landscape architect in Japan. All of the shrubs, plants, and vegetation were brought directly from Japan for the garden.[2] In the 1980s and 1990s, crime at the park increased, with drug pushers and junkies using the tea house. Vandalism and a couple of fires ruined the tea house, which has since been off limits to all visitors, and only a small portion of the tea house is still standing. Heavy flooding overflowed the small lake and stream, drying them up forever. Some of the palm trees had to be cut down. The place became unkempt as a result of the cutbacks, making it difficult to maintain the gardens. Graffiti was reported on the white columns and the Japanese entrance, as well as the outdoor temple, and the roof of the temple was removed. The park now has a sign warning of rattlesnakes in the area. Benches were removed as well.

Nice grassy areas to put down a blanket and read a book, get some sun, play w your dog, write, do yoga, etc. There's a trail at the top park that connects with Runyon Canyon

Love this place. Love taking my kids there (3,1). They love walking around, looking at the wildlife, and riding the train. We have a membership and go often. There summer concerts are fantastic and so much fun. We will definitely keep coming here for years to come.

A beautiful garden to take your time in and soak in the glory of nature. Everything was beautiful and makes you feel like "Yes there are beautiful places to visit in SoCal." Had lunch at the cafe which was pretty good despite their limited selection. There were certain spots of the garden that seemed kinda random and sparse so we just turned around and explored more lush/themed areas. Wasn't crowded at all even if it was Saturday.

Such a beautiful botanical garden. My fiance and I are having our wedding here on the "stage" lawn next year May. The garden is perfect for wedding photography. The atmosphere in general is so peaceful. When you have a wedding at Wattles Garden Park, they give a complimentary one-year free pass for the bride and groom to enter D.G. free & other botanical gardens 90 miles outside of La Canada.

I heard about the cherry blossom festival so I wanted to drive by to see them. I waited about an hour and a half just to get admitted into the garden. By the time I was able to enter I only had about an hour to roam around. The flowers and cherry blossom were a great sight to see! It was nice to visit the garden right before Spring started. I just wish that I had gone earlier because I missed all the events that were going on at that time.

This is a great park for groups, children, animals, sports. Lots of space and gardens to walk around in. Great for exercise and all the festivals it holds. Bring a picnic and jackets. It gets cold more often than not. Also bring a blanket to sit on.

My favorite hike in Los Angeles! Can't wait to come back! The East side trail (with steps) is must try and it's kinda not that long so if I've 1 hour I'm definitely doing it!

I went to elementary school for a few years down the street from Wattles Garden Park and it holds major nostalgia power for me. It's one of those places you tell "outsiders" about and they're like, Des-What? Gardens? LA has gardens? But. If you like flowers, this place is an awesome way to kill a sunny afternoon... and I'm a particular fan of the makeout... ahem, I mean, Camelia, Forest... 4 stars only though, because to my jaded adult self, the place seems tiny! It really is perfect for young children though... haul the whole family along when Grandma visits for an adorable family album photo op!

Good to walk. Parking in there but I didn't like a small beach is in there. The weather almost all the time is fresh but I recommend use a protection uv.
