As far as Lakes go this one is horrible! It's murky and smelly. If one was allowed to fish I would not recommend eating Anything that came from here. It's sad because odd you actually knew the history of this pond and surrounding park/neighborhood at one point was a gorgeous clean location. These days out is overrun with homeless people and drugs. Not a place for families or children after sunset.

The whole park has spots that just smell of concentrated urine. Dead landscape. Entire lake shore covered in bird crap. My kids like feeding the ducks and playing on the playgrounds. If i didnt have kids I would never return here ever again.

Love the history here. The homeless encampment seems almost like a quiet neighborhood 🤔

It was our first day visiting LA and we noticed this park on Google Maps that was a mere few blocks from our hotel. It looked nice from GM, so we decided to take a walk to visit it. I never saw such a disgusting place. Junkies everywhere and the park was covered in bird poo. That beautiful lake was filled with garbage and God knows what else. We made our way to the north side of the park (other side of Wilshire Blvd) and it was much nicer, but still we didn't feel like staying.

Don't believe those negative comments. The lake was emptied, cleaned and refilled during the metro subway construction and remains that way today, a clean sparkling lake that is constantly maintained. MacArthur Park itself is much safer today than years past thanks to more frequent police patrols and security cameras placed all around the area. During the summer I like to take evening strolls around the park along with others who live in the neighborhood.

a number of essential crossings have been shut down without any plan to open them again. the park superficially looks nice again but the whole thing was a debacle to begin with.

Great Job LA on restoring our beautiful and relaxing MacArthur Lake. Sitting at one of the secluded park benches with the lake lapping at your feet is the 'silver bullet' for your werewolf! The park is family safe, everyone is really conscientious and respectfully looking out for each other, I love LA All the sidewalk vendors have wholesale prices on common domestic needs and 'yard sale' values on everything else, be very cautious around the redline station don't become a victim, always be vigilant, your very near a dangerous place. I think we need a strong and visible MacArthur Park Police Substation.

I miss this park. Used to come here when I lived nearby in the late 90s. Haven't been there since. Good to see the places I remember of it. ❤️

A beautiful park in downtown, Los Angeles. It's told that the bridge in the park is the one that Anthony Kiedis mentions in "Under the Bridge", the mega hit song of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The photo was taken in 2015.

Overall a nice park, a little upkeep in certain areas would make the place visually better. Better maintenance on the public port-a-pottys should be a higher priority!

This place always drives me up the wall - in a good way! I love the Centro-American culture, and, boy, is this the place to admire it.

The Leafy Trees provide generous shade on hot summer days, which makes for a reliable and convenient cool Lunch Breaks away from the office.

Lots of homeless and kind of sketchy in some areas but the vendors there are very nice and you can find a lot of great things for a very cheap price

Well maintained park but found lots of homelessness unfortunately. Trash was flying around the street and overcrowded sidewalks with street vendors which gives a very unorganized vibe. As a tourist felt uncomfortable in the area.

Lots of street vendors... the lake view is always nice, just be prepared that it's not always a peaceful park. Wish the restrooms were kept in better condition too

Nice place to view birds and squirrels with fish and turtles in the lake there, nice playground for kids with soccer area but not enough restrooms.
