I remember coming here as a child but i don’t recall that it was this serene and beautiful. The only gripe is that there are too many people during the weekends. It would also be nice if they cleaned after themselves before they leave. Lots of places to rest, have picnic, stroll or relax. Lovely park with beautiful lake! It was also my first time seeing Muscovy ducks. They have 4-5 different breeds of ducks.

What a beautiful, sprawling landscape! There is so much to do here! There are playgrounds for the kids, lots of open space for picnicking, and plenty of hiking paths. Lake Balboa was beautiful right after it rained. We rented a paddle boat to get out on the lake and it was absolutely worth it! If you live in the San Fernando Valley this park should be on your bucket list! We will definitely take the family here again.

This is a really beautiful Park to come and visit. There are plenty of trails that you can jog along, or even walk. There's also areas with benches and shade where you can have a picnic and meet up with friends and family. There is plenty of wildlife on the lake (many different types of birds including real swans). You can also rent swan boats to paddle out onto the lake in! It was pretty busy here on a Sunday morning but it us still a peaceful place.

Pretty nice park. Able to rent bikes and boats here. We went in the morning, so there were a lot of workout classes there, kinda cool atmosphere for that. Fun kids jungle gym too! However most of the slides were roped off, kind of a bummer for the kids! Grills available too!

Beautiful park, people's nasty and leave trash everywhere but beautiful park. Perfect to ride a boat, your skateboard or bicycle, play football or have a picnic, a photoshoot even and the sunsets are gorgeous.

With so much going on in the world, we all just need some time to enjoy and find some peace. Beautiful place to do so for yourself, family, friends and pets. Nice weather, nature and fun activities to also enjoy. You can go fishing, ride your bicycle, make use of the park for your kids, enjoy the lake. Also, have pinics and parties; it's all to your creativity. There's enough room for all of us. Please come and visit and most importantly relax and smile!

Large park with ample and free parking, in LA it doesn’t get much better than that. If you’re looking for a safe place to go biking by yourself or with young ones, this is definitely a better option that LA streets. The lake is beautiful, they have a trail that goes around it, which is separate from the biking trail. You can rent bikes and swan boats; there’s even fishing around. Bring a bike if you have it, bug spray, and sun screen. There are also fruit and snack vendors throughout the park.

Beautiful park! You have to get some ice cream here. Be ware of duck poop, it's everywhere! But they're pretty. Highly recommend for a morning out!

This is a very large park, with various sport fields. It has a lake as well and you can use duck shaped paddle boats. A small waterfall is located at on end of the lake. The lake attracts many ducks that you can see it the picture. There are many benches to just enjoy the sites

A nice park where you can take your family and pets. A lot of activities can be done here and they have on-site grill available for everyone to use. Decent pathway around the lake (about 1.3 miles) with some elevation - perfect for jogging, walking, or running. I just hope that bird droppings will be cleaned because it can be slippery when you unknowingly stepped on one. Playgrounds are available for kids - fun activities like slides, swings, etc. Vendors are available around the place making it more lively - they sell various stuff ranging from food items to toys and balloons.

Surpised again by this naturally beautiful area right in the middle of the city. The day was a little chilly, but when we got next to the lake it was so super cold. The park was definitely busy, but not crowded. The park is huge and has a really lot of activities and trails to explore. As we walked, we found wildlife, fishing areas, fly casting practice areas, a wheelchair accessible baseball field (so proud to see this!), a playground, built in BBQ grills, pedal boats and bikes for rent, and then tons of food/art/balloon vendors. I did have questions for the guy cuddling the wild lake goose, but I was in a bit of a hurry so maybe next time 😆 🤣 This is such a great place to hang out with your family, a date, or even just by yourself ♥️

Beautiful and peaceful. I wish there was more signage letting guests know that bread is not safe to feed to birds as I saw multiple guests with large bread bags - grains and seeds are much healthier and better for them.

I love going here. This is a place every time you go, you wonder why you don't do it more often. Great place for kids to explore and be on the move. You can rent bikes to ride around, or small paddle boats to hop on the lake. There are all kinds of birds and the like roaming around. The place is beautiful, clean and great for morning strolls.

We always love to go to this park when we are in the area. You can rent bikes , paddle boats and other equipment. Several food vendors are inside also which helps with the hunger after that bike ride. Dog friendly

Wow. That sh!t was beautiful. I was out there hugging trees and sh!t. Just chilling with the ducks, it's an amazing park, truly. They have vendors there during the weekends, they sell amazing goods and foods. The rentals here are seriously to die for. The swan is just one of them but you can grab bikes as well. Even if you come here with no money, you can still have a grand time just sightseeing.

I am sad. I grew up as a kid at this park. The state of this park is unacceptable. You can tell this place has had their Park Funds cut. The walk areas are unkept with tons of feeces, tons of flies, grass hasn't been cut, and there are street vendors everywhere. Not good.

A vast and beautiful park with a stunning lake. Flora and fauna are in plenty here! A lot you can do at Lake Balboa - explore the many trails, relax on the benches beneath lush trees, walk around the lake, enjoy a picnic, or rent a paddle boat, amongst other things. There's a playground for kids, too. Gets crowded on weekends.

Since the pandemic/lockdown began March 2020, I have found different ways to exercise effectively, more important safely. One of those ways is coming to Lake Balboa Park a few times a week. Lake Balboa Park is absolutely breathtaking. I mainly come here to jog/run. I never get bored because there are so many areas of the park to jog/run. Besides running, Lake Balboa Park is great to take a walk, sit on the grass, admire the ducks/geese in certain areas, rent a paddle boat, play golf/driving range...etc etc. The possibilities are endless. What I enjoy the most about Lake Balboa is I feel like I'm somewhere else while at Lake Balboa Park. It's hard to believe that outside the park is the hustle & bustle of Victory Blvd heading east to the 405 freeway or Balboa Blvd heading south to 101 freeway and Burbank Blvd heading east to 405 freeway. Lake Balboa makes me feel like I am not in Southern California which is pretty cool. If you need a break from stress, get a away from it all, exercise, take a walk, somewhere to talk too someone or be with a loved one, take the family somewhere...I highly reccomend Lake Balboa Park. You will not be disappointed. The scenery really puts life/things into perspective.

Perfect place to have a carne asada with the family. Ride bikes or just a good place to take a nap next to a big tree and get some fresh ir. Parking is always packed on weekends so be ready.

It's a nice place if you wanna see some water and feel a bit of nature. They have some little boats you can rent and go onto the lake if you're interested. Bikes are also available for renting. Lots of little vendors with water, frozen treats, fruits, chips and one guy had some grilled pork/chicken on a stick that was amazingly good (I had the pork). Was kinda crowded and hard to find shade. I thought there would be more trees and it really should be. Not sure why they don't let more trees grow there. Restrooms were horrible...luckily I'm a guy and only had to pee...I feel bad for the ladies. I warned some females as I was leaving and could hear them scream as they walked in. It was funny but it wasn't funny at the same time. 😐

Beautiful park that is kept clean and accessible. There is a lot to do here. Not only is there a lake where locals can fish or just enjoy the water but there are also paddle boats(the swan shaped ones) that you can rent (pretty cheaply) and ride on the lake. There is a playground area for kids and lots of grass areas for picnics. Plus you can just walk around the lake and look at the various ducks and other aquatic avians! Fun for the whole family and near a freeway for quick access.

Just awesome! Such a great retreat within greater Los Angeles! No homeless people in droves like at Echo Park for example. Plenty of shade. Good place to take children to hangout.

We drive up here every time we're in the area. As a cyclist, I put this on my list of must rides, and finally did it today. It's one hell of a climb, but well worth it. The ONLY downfall is the potential for serious amounts of people and poor traffic near lookouts. Beyond that, this place is incredible. Stunning views of the Bridge and CA , as well as some of the most breathtaking sunsets I've ever witnessed. Clean, and well maintained. A must visit in the Bay Area.

A large park located in the SFV and with free parking. This park really has it all like for having picnics, taking a jog, going for a bike ride, feeding the ducks, and more. It used to be very messy especially with trash in the little forest outside of the lake. They have rental boats in shape of a swan and kayaks as well. Make sure to bring bug spray as there are lots of mosquitos and other bugs especially in the hot summer time. You can also take the Metro Orange line bus to get here as well.

Literally one of the best places on earth that doesn't cost money but gets you tons of happiness! Just walking around the lake will boost you emotionally and physically. You can also either sit by the lake in benches or under trees watching ducks and swan.

I've been going to Lake Balboa now for over 20 years. It's a great place for family and kids. Nice play area for the kids and you're able to rent bikes and boats. If you like to bike ride or run, they have an 8 miles bike/run lane off the street. So it's safe since you're on the sidewalk, but in the bike lane if that makes sense. You will find ice cream trucks and a hot dog like stand too. Overall, a great place to spend family or girlfriend time for sure. Hope this helps.

I went here specifically wanting to ride a swan boat :) easy and really personable service at the boats. This was my first time and this park is MASSIVE there is so much to do here and so much to see. Just a retreat from living in LA. We are so lucky to have a space like this open to the public .

Very pretty, smells a little funky (probably because of the wildlife). Wouldn't recommend to those with sensitive sniffers, but everyone else would really enjoy what the lake and playgrounds have to offer.

Very picturesque & my daughter got to feed the ducks, which she loved! Lots of free parking, easy in & out and centrally located in the ❤ of the valley. It's so spacious as well that if it gets too crowded you can just move to a new spot. Just wish people didn't leave trash & cleaned up after themselves more.

It was my first time visiting this beautiful Park, the weather was so it's so many families having fun with a loved one's having a picnic, fishing, riding the duck pedal boats. The people walking their dogs on a leash it is a dog friendly Park. Plenty of picnic park benches throughout the park. It is open from sunrise to sunset. New admission fee it's a free bus a free entrance park. And everybody was so friendly if you want to take the family to have a picnic, oarfish with the kids or ride the duck pedal boats I highly recommend lake Balboa Park.

One of the best parks to check out in the valley in terms of stuff to do and amount of wildlife! Lots of different kinds of birds here, loads of ducks. Sooo many trails to walk or bike. There's even a cute playground for kids.

Great park to walk around or rent a paddle boat at. It is usually very busy on the weekends during fair weather. Parking is difficult. Spots are limited and once folks park they are there for the day. Park Rangers do a great job keeping the peace and homeless away.

This is Los Angeles, CA in a nutshell. Come here to people watch. Grab a blanket, a couple beers, a few buds and a sandwich. This is where you chill. Listen to the music. Watch people doing gymnastics, hoola hooping, playing frisbee etc. this is a must sf experience.
