Every dish was full of flavor!! Especially tastes good with their injera (which adds a sour flavor to the background), yummy. I can't decide which dish was my fave but the jackfruit is a standout!! Even the rice, which I typically think of as the bland portion was flavored!!! So happy they're in Leimert and walking distance. They brighten our holiday meals.

My first experience with Ethiopian food and it was soooo delicious. So nice to find such flavorful, yummy food that's vegan and gluten free. My boyfriend is celiac and he didn't have a negative reaction AND he loved his food as well!

OMG I just ate here for the first time. So delicious. I got potato curry, pea curry, sweet potatoes, and rice all for $10! It’s love at first bite for me! Healthy and tasty and vegan and good sized portions. Did I say that I’m in love? Wow! I love discoveries like this. I just finished dinner and I already can’t wait to come back 😃

NEW MENU as of 2/12/22 and let me be the first to tell you how DELICIOUS it is!!! They’ve taken Azla nom noms to the next level! All the Ethiopian yumminess we’ve come to know (with lots of new flavors too) with some perfect tortillas. You can order tacos or burritos (plus tortilla-less bowls!). We tried every taco (there are 6) and I can’t wait to have them all again! Favoritos were the Soy Africano (spicy soy), dembiya (jackfruit) and El Saturn (mushrooms). We also tried the horchata, sorrel and lemonade and they were refreshing and good for the soul! Beyond the food and drinks, there’s just this vibe about Azla that you wanna feel again and again. They had beautiful flowers for sale. The music is dope. The folks that work there are sooo warm and sweet. AND, the best part of this whole Ethiopian/Mexican fusion food is that there’s HISTORY there. The good folks at Azla have taken the time to dig up archival documentation of when when Emperor Haile Selassie became the first African head of state to pay an official visit to Mexico in 1954. When Italy invaded Ethiopia in the 30’s, Mexico was one of few countries to condemn the occupation and as a result, Ethiopia was able to keep its seat in the League of Nations. Since then, the nations pay homage to each other by naming train stations and plazas after each other. Isn’t that the best?? So that’s it. If you want incredible food, a wonderful vibe and you enjoy becoming smarter, you MUST check out Azla and their new menu. You will be a better human because of it!

Great service and excellent quality food. Spicy means spicy here. Not "American" spicy. Came back a second time months later: Curry cabbage and carrot, salad, kale salad, spicy sweet potato. Excellent again

I discovered this place after seeing it on an episode of Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives. The food is amazing and the gomen (greens) tastes as good as any version that I've had with meat. I always want to get something from one of the other shops in the Mercado, but have a hard time choosing anything else.

This place is inside the market but it is so damn delicious! I travel quite a bit to eat here. The owners are incredibly friendly and the food has that amazing ethiopian flavor and it's all vegan! Outstanding. The spicy tofu bits and anything curry are a must.

The food was delicious and service was fantastic. They were very friendly and helpful, you can tell the food is made with love. Azla became an instant favorite of mine- I want to bring all my friends there. I highly recommend it :) If I had to choose three favorites off the menu from my first trip they would beee... The keysir, the kik, and the sorrel. So mmmm 😊

I had the Gomen (collard greens & kale), Kik (curry split peas), Yatakilt (potato, carrots & cabbage) and the daily special (shiro) with injera. Everything was delicious. They do charge for each piece of injera which is unusual. Total for 4-item combo with 2 pieces of injera & tip - $15. A bit pricey for veggie food, but it is delicious.

Was here for dinner on a Thursday. Service was quick and prompt. Ordered beef momo per the waiter's suggestion. Took 15-20 minutes to arrive and it was worth the wait. The dumpling is packed with flavor, especially when paired with the hot sauce. There's also a good selection of vegan and vegetarian options.

We have been fans of Messob for years. The food is fresh and delicious. However, we went Saturday, June 19 and had 3 different people take our order and then waited 1 hour and 25 minutes to get our food. The owner was nice but said it was a busy night. I understand it was Juneteenth and we totally support that, but the owner, after all these years in the business, that he should have hired more staff. We will still continue to go there, but never again on the weekend.

So good! I got the Mercado la Paloma Burrito and it was nothing short of amazingly delicious :)) The jackfruit got me because I genuinely thought I was eating meat for a second. I paused mid-bite to double check, haha. The flavors are so dam tasty and a surprise. I'm honestly not a fan of Ethiopian food, but after this, I'm opening up my pallet to different versions of Ethiopian food. I would def come back again or order online for delivery. Great service, wait-time, and food! -------------------------------------------- March 19, 2022 4/5 stars Came back to celebrate me getting a lil job or w.e, heehe and I tried their burritos again. Ethiopian food with the fusion of Mexican food is absolutely genius and I really prefer my Ethiopian food like this! I got the Talem and Playboy Cha Cha Burrito. The Talem took the cake for me! Delicious! It gave everything it was supposed to and I really enjoyed this one! The soy chikina and turmeric slaw was the best part! I usually hate coleslaw, but I ate it up in this burrito. I couldn't really taste the guacamole, but everything else hit the spot. I had a feeling the Playboy Cha Cha wouldn't be my favorite and I was right. Mushroom is good, but shredded mushroom is too much for me and I really only eat the corn. Not my favorite, but that's okay. I'll definitely be back again to continue trying their other burritos. They're appetizing af and I love the food and service here!

The best Ethiopian I've had in LA! I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure they use actual teff to make the injera (as opposed to wheat), and the misir wat is PERFECT! The greens are fine, but not the best I've ever had, but everything else tastes incredible. The jalapeño ginger sauce they make is wonderful, and I'm really looking forward to trying the spicy chili oil on the next visit. Their berbere spice mix I haven't used yet, but assuming it's the same mix they use to cook their lentils, it's amazing! They have a pretty small menu, but what they do offer is delicious and totally vegan, if that's a consideration in your diet. Give them a try! I don't think anyone could possibly be disappointed by Azla!

Although the food is good, I was very upset at how much injera they gave. The food portions are great, but they should definitely give at least half a slice of injera when purchasing a $17 - $25 meal.

I love Ethiopian food, but this was not good. The food was cold, the cabbage was raw, they were stingy with the bread and they forgot my brownie. They definitely didn't deserve my business let alone my tip. I'll continue to give business to another Ethiopian restaurant in the area.

Love this place. My husband and I get the "feast for one" pretty regularly, which is a sampling of all 5 main dishes (and a taste of each of the salads) and it's enough food for two meals for both of us (so 4 meals total). It's great that it's completely vegan, and every dish is flavorful and tasty. Sometimes the cabbage one is almost all potatoes and not much cabbage, but it's tasty either way. One thing to keep in mind, the feast for one comes with only a small amount of injera in comparison to the amount of food, so we usually go to an Ethiopian market to buy a pack of injera. You could also order more injera with it if you don't want to make another trip (and the injera at Azla is super tasty with a perfect texture and slight sourness). We will keep coming back here for sure!

We hadn't had coffee yet so we started off w a couple cups w a side of hemp milk while we perused the standard menu and their winter specials menu. Their winter specials menu, despite being a bit pricier than their standard menu, had the more enticing sounding items and the portions were huge, easily shareable but we didn't know so we packed up leftovers -- prob wouldn't have wanted to share anyway cause everything was so good!

I ordered the 3 item combo and injera (flatbread made with teff so it's gluten-free!). Everything was very delicious! The injera was perfectly tangy. The wait staff were all friendly and helpful. There's plenty of seating because this establishment is located inside the Mercado La Paloma, an historical building with other eateries inside of it. I will definitely return to try their other selections!

The location is inside a market. Parking is limited. You can order from a buffet style. The food is a little spicy to very spicy depending on what you order. Ask first because you may end up with a very spicy combination. For a Vegan restaurants they have a good variety of food but again it's a little spicy for some. I tried some drinks as a sample, they have 3 but was only able to sample 2 because the person at the counter ( I think it was the owner or cook) told me they only give 2 samples of drinks about 1 once each. For a specialty place they should let you sample all 3 drinks. But customer service is not the best. It's no wait to order because it's always empty so that's a plus.

It's good Azla Ethiopian Vegan Cuisine place but it tastes like any other elote spot. Waited 30+ min to try it but was fairly disappointed that I waited that long for some elite I could've got at Ave 26 with hot Cheetos and 0 min wait. The guy was cool but imo it's not worth the wait! Just go to another elote place it tastes the same
