I’ve been coming to kitchen mouse for years. I didn’t mind the prices because the food was good, but today was it for me. I placed an order online for a build your own bowl, when it arrived, I was shocked at how much it was for what I got! Kitchen mouse has slowly gotten worse when it comes to portions. A few years back, the price reflected the quantity, but now it’s LAUGHABLE at what they think a good size bowl is. This just goes to show you that places like this move into neighborhoods, and slowly price out long time residents on a night out, to cater to other new comers who aren’t a part of the fabric of the neighborhood, would you eat here for a 30 dollar price tag for scraps? For the cost of a cookie, I’d rather go down the way to Amara Kitchen. We all work hard for our money, and todays the last time I ever order from Kitchen Mouse. They use to give you three Moros cakes for each bowl, now just two, the yams I ordered, looked like half a serving, I had to specifically ask for sauces to be full because there’s been many times they aren’t, if I’m paying those prices, I want my full meal. Overpriced/hipster place, that epitomizes what’s wrong with Highland Park, and why most of the longtime residents here eat elsewhere, I’ll be among them. The double chocolate cookies I received weren’t good either.

Great place with lots of vegan food! They do have regular eggs if you want that. Staff eat super friendly and there is nice outdoor seating.

The prices have gone up and now house favorites are half the portion and charging extra for what use to already come in it. The staff is so nice and it's such a great place but to make the portion smaller and up charge $3+ and then charge more to add on ingredients that use to already be in it feels wrong. I understand food cost has gone up but it would be better to raise the prices and keep it as is or if it isn't cost efficient just take it off your menu. Look at the portion difference from March to July and now you have to pay extra for the sausage in the sandwich.

The menu is perfect. Just the right amount of options, and the servings are generous with fantastic flavor, texture, and freshness. There is really nothing negative that can be said about this relaxed but presentable little spot, other than my opinion that the complimentary muffins could be scaled up in size or quantity.

Great place - lots of vegan options. We had Vegan Jo’s breakfast sandwich and Mickey’s Chilaquiles - both amazing. Great service and lovely interior.

Cute spot for brunch with adorable decor and super friendly staff! I tried the breakfast tacos and my friend had the chilaquiles and both were delicious. We even got some corn bread for free! They have a section in the back for kids to play and a little store attached where you can buy candles and notebooks and such. Everything is vegetarian and I believe you can make all meals vegan.

One of our favorite spots in LA. It’s healthy with lots of vegetarian and gluten free options. They have an excellent kids meal.

This an excellent vegetarian breakfast/lunch spot with a lot of gluten free options. One of the places I’ve visited most in LA and miss a lot since moving further toward the west side. It’s hard to go wrong with anything on the menu but the breakfast burrito is one of the better vegetarian burritos I’ve ever had. I would especially recommend anything with the Tempeh Bacon as it’s definitely a worthy addition to any of the main dishes. I’ve tried to recreate at home and haven’t succeeded yet. The style is a cute farmhouse aesthetic meets hipster vibes. Expect a lot of moustaches and overalls from the clientele. Mid range budget wise. Maybe a little pricey for what you get but similar to most other brunch spots in LA. A strong recommend from me and somewhere I will be back to again soo.

The Tofu Scramble is 🤌🏼, so so good. I would highly recommend this as a brunch spot, getting the Tofu Scramble with pancakes and the Tempeh Bacon is a really good choice. Coffee is good too, lots of milk alternatives. Staff wise, all so so polite and welcoming, will be coming back! Edit: Came back and had the snickerdoodle pancake stack - one emoji reaction: 🤤

Adorable spot in Highland Park, fast service and really good food. There’s plenty of seating and no wait on a Sunday morning. I recommend the Breakfast Sandwich, and the Moros Cakes are pretty good too. If you’re feelin’ squirrelly their Chocolate Chip cookies are delicious! Tried their Chai Latte and wasn’t disappointed. Very smooth and not too sweet; well balanced. Definitely coming back here to try more of their menu.

Ordered the the Jo’s sandwich, Snickerdoodle Pancakes & Cold Brew. Honestly everything tasted delicious and the food was flavorful. Coffee was great too. Love this place & will definitely come back!

Unfortunately it became unreasonably overpriced. Just to give you an idea, they charge $3.5 for ONE fried egg and $4.75 for a side of 1/2 avocado. Brunch for one might come down to $25-28 which is absurd. They also got rid of "build your own bowls," and have said it was because "it [didn't] fit [our] mission" lol more like it's too much work for them but they'll never say that. Anyway, I used to love it here but it became a snobby, overpriced nightmare.

Extremely cute spot. Excellent food. We enjoyed our time there. I had scrambled tofu since I don’t have egg, and it was so good.

I can’t rave enough about this restaurant. I came here with a friend and it’s absolutely adorable - the atmosphere and decoration are both so cute and welcoming. I have celiac disease, and their entirely gluten free menu had so many delicious options! My friend and I both got the snickerdoodle pancakes which are the best pancakes I’ve ever had in my life. I couldn’t believe they were gluten free and vegan. The staff were very welcoming and knowledgeable about cross contamination. This is a great spot for brunch/lunch :)

I know this place already has many positive reviews, but I simply can't resist adding my own. The food here is some of the best I've ever had in LA – it's so delicious that I couldn't help but lick my plate clean and even contemplated ordering more! A few star items that stood out for me: 1. Chilaquiles - absolutely mind-blowing. You must try them! 2. Gomasio Brown Rice Cakes - not only healthy and filling but bursting with flavors, especially those crispy mushrooms. They are ridiculously good. 3. Breakfast Tacos - if you're a fan of bold flavors, this is a must-order dish. Trust me; you won't regret it. The interior of the place is charming, with old cookie jars lining the walls, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. It's the perfect spot for a breakfast date, though keep in mind that it might not be ideal for large parties. They offer a good selection of coffee, tea, elixirs, and more, and the staff is exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Overall, this place is an absolute gem!

Met a friend here whilst on visit to LA. Whatever you do, make sure you arrive or order at the same time, because there’s no table service and a frustratingly long wait to order. Overly chatty yet zoned out chap behind the till took ages to take each order in the queue, walked off randomly - seemingly zero awareness / care of wait times. Food was excellent when it arrived. They didn’t have a straight green tea available, which doesn’t feel like a major ask in 2023. Nice buzzy atmosphere as it filled up. Pricey though and frustrating bottleneck to order. Some more tills / servers or table service a simple fix.

The food is delicious and the place is adorable, it’s great for brunch. The only drawback is that it’s really popular so you may have to wait in line on the weekends, but the food is great I highly suggest eating here. Love this spot.

Very fresh with healthy and yummy choices. The hibiscus ginger tea is so refreshing! Subdued atmosphere so you can chat with a friend over lunch. They close at 4 so plan accordingly.

Great breakfast and lunch menu with vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. I always get Jo's Breakfast sandwich (with fried eggs, gf avo toast, arugula, Chipotle sauce, and lime/chili oil) and the pine nut cookies which are to die for. They have inside and outside seating options

Had the tacos for lunch with my mom. We are Mexican and we both agreed the tacos filled with papas and mushrooms were delicious, delicious, delicious! Will be back to try breakfast. I eat plant based and gluten free and this place was great! The KM bakery behind the restaurant also has some tasty options.

I love Kitchen Mouse and try to get there whenever I'm in town. I was sad to see they no longer serve their beautifull breakfast bowl, but the pancakes were very good. The staff is friendly and the vibe is comfortable.

Went twice in the span of a week that’s how good it is. First picture is the chilaquiles, a side of tofu egg, and their massaged kale + mushrooms salad. Easily the best chilaquiles I’ve ever had. Yummy all around. Salad amazing. Second photo is the caprese sandwich with a watermelon mimosa. The caprese sandwich again has to be one of the yummiest sandwiches I’ve ever had. Different flavors just boom in all of their dishes. What a fantastic restaurant!
