Alright, I can officially say that I’m a Pizzaterian. I’ve been to a few pizza places in LA but nothing compares to the amount of tomato and cheese and pepperoni and sausage in my masa than the Chicago style of layering toppings until it becomes soggy. Literally made my cravings more than just late night munchies. Plus the staff upfront and waiter who served us was friendly and accommodating. He made sure to bring out my pizza once my friend arrived so it wouldn’t lose its flavor. I also recommend you to place an order ahead for the deep fried dishes because they’re freshly baked and it takes about 45minutes to prepare. I’ll be coming back very soon for their Suppli & Masa Burger ❤️

Recently I learned of Masa and have heard good about their deep dish pizza. In the past I have had great deep dish in Chicago, so I am always inclined to try a deep dish pizza whenever it's offered at a restaurants outside of Chicago. As a fan of deep dish I knew that Masa's deep dish pizza and I would cross paths sooner rather than later. Here's how my experience at Masa on Echo Park went down. *Tip* If you are going to dine in and order a deep dish pizza you can call your order in ahead of time. Just let them know when you plan to arrive and dine in. This will cut down some of the waiting time substantially. + Food and Drink - Masa has a an impressive list of foods they off whether you are a carnivore or vegan. Yes, they offer quality food all around. Alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks are also offered. I went with a classic Arnold Palmer and my girlfriend ordered an ice tea. Our order • Deep Dish - flavorful and really good. I loved the small stacks of pepperoni that you find while enjoying the slices of pizza. The crust on the pizza was great. Overall the pizza was comparable to what is offered at most Chicago restaurants in terms of quality and flavor. • Cesar Salad - deconstructed and enjoyable. • Cheese Sticks - crunchy outside, some of the best I have eaten. • Bread Pudding - Warm and tasty, loved it. + Staff was friendly and knowledgeable about menu and had great suggestions. + Environment was lively and clean. A great place to take a date, have a family dinner, or just a place to eat and hangout. This place can get quite busy, but don't worry that's a good thing. + Restrooms - Very clean and tidy, just had a wait a couple of minutes since they just have two restrooms. - I had two gripes. The first one was that we waited a long time for napkins, yes napkins. When they brought our appetizer they forgot to bring my girlfriend a napkins, and didn't give us any until we asked for them fifteen to twentyminuteslater. Everyone around us got napkins as soon as their appetizers arrived. - My second grip was that some tables are a bit to close. The dude sitting at the next table kept creeping near us. Overall I had an enjoyable and pleasant experience at Masa of Echo Park. Highly recommend if you love deep dish pizza or want to have a quality dining experience.

Good Chicago style deep dish. Came out a bit dry but that seems to be the case in a lot of LA deep dish. Service was awesome and the vibe in this place is so chill. Would definitely go back.

This place is definitely unique and has a great atmosphere. The service and food were fantastic. Although not exactly like a Chicago deep dish, this place is definitely a fantastic option in LA (if not the best I've had here). Aside from this, they have great regular and vegan options. Their tomato sauce was also the star of every dish and stood out. It definitely tastes like it was made with care. Definitely recommend this spot if you're looking for great Italian or a deep dish pizza🍕!

I'm not a huge fan of deep dish pizza and this one was good. (Never had a great tasting deep dish, even in Chicago, sorry.) I will definitely come back to try other dishes. Perhaps lasagna or thin crust pizza. The risotto croquettes were amazing! Yum!! The apple cider was good!

Take it from two guys that can EACH put away a large at a usual Pizza place, a 14" Deep Dish at Masa is definitely enough to feed 3 people who can eat. ...at least 4 people who eat normal. Finally made it in after hearing all the hype, but parking is atrocious. Yikes! You have to come either during the day, or before the 5:00 rush kicks in. It's metered 2 hour parking for a couple blocks, then metered 1 hour further out. Permit parking only on the side streets. If you're early enough, and lucky, there is a paid lot East of the restaurant. But the pay station breaks frequently, and the meter maid will ticket you anyways. Waaaaa. ;( The Pies: Got the meaty Deep Dish one. It was good, tangy from the salami (they call it Pepperoni, but it's more like a thick cut Salami), and sweet from the crushed tomato chunks. The dough was cooked through, and springy, about 1" thick. It was not stuffed. Sauce: Definitely taste the oregano in the coarse, rustic thrown together sauce. It's chunky, you feel the texture of the tomatoes. Just a touch too salty. Bad day, maybe the salt came off the salami into the sauce? There's fennel in the sausage, and it's a sweet Italian sausage if you're curious. It's like a huge sausage patty laid ontop of the pizza. Wish it was crumbled ontop instead. Maybe there's a reason, like it would burn in the oven ontop otherwise? The hype: It was good, but I can't quite call this THE best Deep Dish Chicago style pizza in LA. Definitely in the top 5. My quest continues.

Let me start by saying! I really love Masa’s deep dish pizza! This was the first time I visited the actual restaurant and dined in. So, I was pretty excited. However, I was visiting with a friend who is vegan. So, I decided to go half with him on a vegan pizza. I was so excited for him to try them! However, unfortunately the vegan pizza definitely does not have the same flavor as the original! We had vegan pepperoni, roasted red peppers & roasted garlic. It was pretty bland. We asked for salt. There was also way too much. There were no signs of it being roasted and there were at least 8-10 cloves on each slice 🥲. There’s also something different about the crust. It’s dry in comparison to the original. So, unfortunately I definitely can’t recommend Masa’s Vegan pizza. However, I will definitely return for the original stuff. It’s amazing.

You want damn good Chicago Deep Dish pizza? You go here. It's worth the wait. It's worth the line. The price. All of it. It's the best I've ever had. The place has a super comfy and chill vibe too, perfect for a lunch with your friends or a romantic date with your S.O. Combine all that with a super friendly staff and Masa is definitely a place you have to try. Oh yeah. Their black cherry soda and their house lemonade? Delicious.

I’m not a big fan of tomato chunk pizza but this pizza is still really good. It’s Chicago style deep dish pizza. Their Spanish manchego salad is incredible. Service is upbeat and friendly. The place has a cozy interior with a few tables along the sidewalk. It’s dark inside so there’s a cool mood and vibe. Meter parking.

I got the Meatballs and the Lots of Meat Deep Dish Pizza (with extra onions and spinach) here. Overall, I liked the meatballs, although they were kind of pricey ($12). They had really good sauce, and the meatballs had good texture. For the deep dish pizza, the crust tasted pretty nice, and the sauce and pepperoni were good. Though, I did feel that the sausage that it came with was a little drier (or didn't seem as fresh) as I had expected. I still liked it, but I did feel like I had better deep dish in the city. Possibly, it might have just been a one time thing that I got pizza that was good and not great, as I have heard from friends that they considered Masa their favorite deep dish place in LA. Beyond that, i felt like the staff was very friendly, and gave really good thoughts about what to order, and checked on us frequently. I would be happy to visit again, to see what else they have.

I am originally from Chicago. California Pizza is something I usually avoid both in San Francisco and La even though they both have famous spots. This extra cheese pie while not quite as good as how I remember true Chicago pizza was absolutely outstanding. Our entire group was surprised and impressed. Considering the size and quality the price was quite reasonable. It took about 50 minutes to reach the table and it was quite worth the wait.

Our group had a wonderful lunch at Masa last month. Even though it is known for its deep dish pizza, we opted for the thin crust. It was absolutely marvelous, so I can only imagine what the deep dish is like. The service was excellent, and I especially enjoyed the art on the walls, which one of the servers said was created by someone on their staff. The talent runs deep here!

Amazing pizza. The tomatoes they use are so fresh, and the cheese has great taste as well. The dough is the perfect balance of crispy and fluffy. They also do calamri and suppli the real Italian way. Get the calamari, suppli, and California deep dish and add buffalo mozzarella.

June 2023 - Highly recommend making a reservation! We were a party of 5 and went on a Friday around 5pm. Food/Pricing - Rootbeer $3.75 - Yes the rootbeer! It was a yummy edition to the meal! It's not a super sweet soda. You must try it! Lots of Meat Deep Dish $32 - If you're basically a carnivore like me, you'll love this pizza!! It was crunchy in all the right places and deliciously meaty. Spaghetti & Meatballs $17 - The meatballs were sooo good! Truly tasted homemade. Bread Pudding $14.50 - By the time this hit our table, we were already stuffed but there's always room for dessert right? For this one, yes!! It was moist, fluffy, and very yummy! Service/Ambiance - The service was prompt and attentive! Our server had a good sense of humor. The vibe is very cozy and homey. Parking - We were lucky and found a spot right on the street by the restaurant!

The service was amazing and the food was delicious. My two kids and I are visiting from Alaska and decided to try the restaurant after seeing the reviews and it did not disappoint. We loved the bread & butter, calamari fritti, and Santa Ynez pizza was delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant.

Probably the best place to have a deep dish pizza in Los Angeles. Just make sure you come with enough time, since this pizza will take 45 minutes to be ready. Your best parking option is around the corner, in a big public parking lot. I can tell you the staff here works as a team to help you get the best experience. Be careful when ordering extra stuff, like bread, and salad dressing; they do charge you for it. Great experience at this place.

This used to be my favorite restaurant in Los Angeles and one of my favorite pizzas in the world. Unfortunately I can no longer recommend it as it does not have the same homey and welcoming feeling it once did. They also no longer serve the Quintero, one of the best Buffalo chicken pizzas ever. The Chicago pizzas are easily the top Chicago style I’ve ever had, including places in Chicago, but the place as a whole has lost its charm. Hope it makes a come back :)

Food is good. The pizza sauce was a little too sweet for our liking. The only main issue we had us that the service is really slow. We waited to pay our bill for about 25 min. We had reservations at echo park but now we're running super late because of it and that's to say we arrived 2 hours prior.

While the pizza was excellent, the restaurant was extremely crowded and noisy. Also, the wait to be served after placing our order was very long. If you're out for enjoyment and have a lot of time, though, it rates right up there.

Absolutely the best deep dish pizza around. We had a party of 9, and our food, service, and ambiance were top-notch. Seriously, the pizza was delicious! You can tell the chef/owner care about their customers.

The deep dish pizzas here are phenomenal. The wait staff is super friendly and attentive. No customer dedicated parking but there are two parking lots nearby that you need to pay for or you can try to find street parking in the surrounding neighborhoods. Keep in mind that the deep dish pizzas do take about 45 min to make. 10/10 would recommend.

Best Chicago style pizza outside of Chicago. Be prepared to wait for an hour but it will be worth it. Ask for well done.

Since trying their deep dish pizza a while back we have become regulars. We've also tried their regular pizzas. They generally rate 7-9 out of ten in our books. However, thr pastas do not get the same praise.

Stopped on our way out of LA. My friend had never had a deep dish pizza. And I had seen Masa reviewed by someone on TikTok. And hands down it was so delicious. 🤤 We had the honor of talking to the owner and some regulars. And they told us all about the place and how great the owner was and how well they treated their employees. And to hear that made me so very happy to spend my money there. 🤗 Such good vibes. Oh yes and our server was awesome. Everyone there was so friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a drive.

Title: Disappointed by Unexpected Charges and Lack of Customer-Focused Service I recently tried Masa of Echo Park based on a recommendation, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. My wife and I were eagerly anticipating our pick-up order, which included a medium cheese Chicago style pizza and mozzarella cheese sticks with marinara sauce. The disappointment began when my wife, who picked up the order, kindly asked for some ranch to accompany the mozzarella sticks. To our surprise, she was informed that the ranch would cost an additional $2.00. While this might seem like a trivial amount, the issue wasn't the cost itself but the way it was handled. My wife had left her wallet in the car, and rather than accommodating the simple request for ranch, she was left feeling humiliated and empty-handed. It's disheartening when a restaurant prioritizes a small charge over ensuring a positive customer experience, especially for first-time patrons who may not be aware of such additional fees. Curious about the situation, I decided to investigate further and confirmed that indeed, there was a $2.00 charge for ranch. While I understand that nothing is free, the lack of transparency and the approach to customer interaction felt disappointing. We had just spent $45.44 on our order, and being blindsided by an unexpected charge left a sour taste in our mouths. It's essential for businesses to prioritize customer satisfaction and communicate additional charges clearly. While $2.00 may not break the bank, the principle of prioritizing customer experience over minor fees should take precedence. I hope this feedback encourages Masa of Echo Park to reconsider their approach and prioritize building positive relationships with their customers.

Some of the best Chicago deep dish pizza in the area. We got the large classic and it lasted us a few days so definitely worth the price.

Great food and super friendly service. It takes about 45min for them to make their famous deep dish pizza so plan accordingly! Our group of 5 shared two appetizers, a salad and a large deep dish pizza, which was definitely enough to feed all of us and then some.

We found this place just by telling nearby pizza. My mom doesn't like deep dish (which is what I wanted) but we had the Elysian pizza which was a thin crust. It was delicious! And mozzarella sticks were amazing! So crispy and cheesy! Glad we found this place!

My wife and I bought a pizza hut in this restaurant, and we greatly enjoyed eating it because it was yummy and the drinks were OK. The waiter that entertained us at that time was very accommodating, kind, and respectful. Besides, this restaurant was the best when craving and looking for good pizzas. Thank you!

The food here is amazing. I had an event in LA and found this place on Yelp. From the moment I walked in, I was hit with the most amazing smell. We ordered meatballs, mozzarella sticks, and a pizza with pepperoni and black olives. It was so damn good. Seriously, it did not disappoint. Our server Kelly was amazing and so friendly, and she made our experience that much better.

deep dish is one of my favorite foods- Chicago is one of my most visited cities and I just love deep dish pizza (pequods is my favorite). Anyways, all that to say that the crust is spot on here- buttery, bready, and crispy. The cheese pulls were also very satisfying. The tomato sauce however, lacking. Could use some sugar, some spices, and a good blending. It was all too chunky for my liking. I got huge chunks the size of a cherry tomatoes- not my style.

Every time my friend says, "I'll pick up a pizza and come over," he stops here. The pizza is crazy good! Seriously, how often do you have someone bring pizza and then ask them where it's from? I'm told it can be a little wait, but from the taste of the pizza, it's very much worth the time spent.

Unfortunately I arrived after the deep dish pizza was done baking for the night so decided to try the Kensington and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT! The server was super kind, calm and helpful. The food didn’t take long at all and it was just absolutely delicious. Don’t come late and try the deep dish!

The Brussels sprouts are tender and delicious, with a sharp cheese that has quickly become my new favorite at this Italian restaurant. The meal I ordered complements the red wine. Furthermore, the atmosphere enhances the song. I'd never been to Italy before, but this location gave me a sense of what it's like.

I've been Chicago and had all the best Chicago style pizzas... this place isn't bad, their pizza tastes fresh, waiters are very nice and place is clean. Their salad was pretty good too. Also like the fresh loaf of bread they give you, good stuff. Pizza tasted fresh, but not as good as the real stuff from Chicago.

The good , pizza deep dish this is what they are known for stick to it. The bad you can have a drink and order an appetizer but they are strict on where you can sit and do that. Wanted to order a beer and sit in coach they have but really quick o yo I want done in. To appease them sure . So we order spaghetti pizza deep dish and gnocchi, avoid everything g but the pizza. Also ordered deep fried egg rolls this is my error in judgement what not to order anywho. We proceed to hang for our egg roll and drink our beers. We finish our beers and continue waiting . We finally get our orders and proceed to leave. Once home we try the gnocchi please at all costs do not order it. The pizza was good I would recommend that but order to go.

We ordered the Traditional Pizza (Chicago style deep dish with Italian sausage and mushroom), we were trying out different pizza places in the neighborhood so we ordered it ahead of time to ensure it was ready when we passed by. When we passed by to pick it up, we weren’t allowed to eat it in the outdoor seating area even though the place was empty. We walked and ate it in front of an açaí place. The pizza was NOT GOOD! Maybe if you like Chicago style deep dish pizza but we did not enjoy it, I couldn’t even finish one slice of the pizza. The dough tasted like masa but masa does not belong on a pizza or with pizza flavors. 🤢

  • 4/5 Iris C. 1 year ago on Google
Their pizza is good, one of the best pizza near downtown Los Angeles. Be aware that there is a 35 minutes want for the pizza, they don't start making it until you order. Order a large size for the best value.

I’ve been wanting to try out this place for a while now and finally did Mother’s Day with my mom and niece…we had to sit outside since they were checking vax cards still 😅 but we seen a dirt bike group poppin wheelies and the weather was nice and cool 😎 The pizza took about 40 mins to arrive as expected.. we ordered the one with sausage and tomatoes sauce and cheese only! The pie came out hot and fresh in a box haha The flavor was good, the sauce was acidic, chunky, a tad sweet from the tomatoes.. The pizza crust that I thought was going to be crispy and crunchy was fluffy and soft had this taste that was so good. Also the sausage and cheese were good as well.. Overall the pizza was good to me, Would try again! the service horrendous…so we just ate and left.

Not only the best deep dish In Los Angeles but I would argue the best pizza out here in general. You truly cannot beat the avalanche of flavor that hits you on that first bite. If you’re from the Midwest it just immediately takes you back. It’s incredible. I had two slices of a medium cheese and waddled out to then feed on the rest for like a week. Par for the course when dealing with a true Chicago Deep Dish. 10 outta 10 recommend my dudes.

Best deep dish in the west. They removed the alcohol taste from their pizzas, so much better. Pro tip- reheat a slice in the toaster oven, turns the pizza crust into a pie crust.

This is one of our go to spots for chicago deep dish pizza. We usually get the classic veg - comes with mushrooms and olive. If you are looking for deep dish pizza this is a MUST try spot. The portions have gotten smaller through the years -- but still very tasty. Bread pudding -- must try
