I am speechless. First time trying Ethiopian food and I came to the right place! Staff was very friendly. I’m usually not a fan of lentils, but the red lentils was super delicious!! It’s a must!!! I also got the honey wine and it was very smooth. It’s also house-made which made it even better! It got me feeling very relaxed ☺️ will be coming back!

Such an amazing restaurant. The food was delicious and the coffee was PHENOMENAL. Not too bitter, very rich, and someone else said it tastes like dark chocolate - it does! The atmosphere is so calming, especially if you sit outside. The service is wonderful too, the server was very kind and recommended us a few dishes. Will definitely come back again. Parking is also free and available :)

We were charged $1 each for water! Preposterous; I’ve never seen a charge for still tap water in a restaurant, especially for what must’ve been a 6 oz pour in a small plastic cup. When I griped to our server about it she said it’s because of “the economy.” Good thing we didn’t ask for refills. We sat in the main dining room which was very stuffy. Zero airflow in there. The table had no napkins nor were any provided until we asked (fortunately, there was no charge for napkins). Our food took a while to arrive and it was difficult to find the staff’s attention. The food was good—but not good enough to forgive the ridiculous water charge and mediocre service.

If you ain’t visit this place, something is definitely wrong with you lol!!! I have nothing but RAVING reviews for this place! The restaurant is family owned, black owned, and Mama Emma is VICIOUS in the kitchen. The restaurant is definitely something that surprises you with a small Intimate air-conditioned inside to a full private backyard with plenty of seating and fire pits for heat in the chill cool of the night and restrooms are available. The food is absolutely A-1, Top Notch and I cannot begin to explain the comfort of eating such organic foods with a perfect blend of Ethiopian Spices and Herbs. As you can see in my photo reviews. The portions are great and since I’m vegan, I always eat the same thing every time I come because I can’t get off this one place, I’m addicted. They have a selection of wine to choose from, but I’d prefer if they enlarge there selection of wine… but that is the only criticism I have for this place. Emma is definitely cultural, having moved here to the states in hopes of bettering herself and her family, she has been here 12 years and the rest of the family came soon after. They are all great people hands down.. such a peaceful and calm and welcoming atmosphere, I’d rate a 10 stars if I could. I had the Veggie dish with rice and as simple as it sounds, she did some magical stuff to this white rice lol. This place is great for date nights, after church meals, or practically anything.. just come. You’ll be greatly satisfied.

Loved the food! Been missing it. Decided to go with Emma Habesha and was not disappointed. We got the veggie combo...amazing. I recommend the back patio when the weather is nice (which is most of the time in socal) for an eclectic eating experience. Oh when we went in to pay the bill (very reasonable), Emma taught us Ethiopian dancing and shared with us other interesting culture. Enjoy!

This is a classic hole in the wall restaurant that I will definitely come back to. Had the vegan platter with a fish dish and chicken stew. The meal was quite large and very filling, two people could not finish it! The fish dish said it was spicy but I didn't realize how spicy, luckily the fresh jalapenos are easy to remove if you don't like extremely hot food! Beautiful presentation and all of the vegetables were great but the red and green lentils were my fav. Each of the dishes had a distinct and delightful flavor and of course I had to try and Ethiopian beer which was tasty! I can easily recommend and am happy that I found a great spot in my neighborhood.

Emma was an amazing host and this was one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. She took the time to explain the menu in detail and asked what kinds of flavors and textures we preferred before giving recommendations. The food came out delicious and out of the handful of times I've tried Ethiopian cuisine, her cooking tasted the most authentic and was incredibly flavorful. We also wanted to visit her specifically for an authentic Ethiopian coffee experience and she did not disappoint. Emma really went above and beyond to make the experience enjoyable for us and even went out of her way to teach us about the culture and shared community aspect behind dining with friends and family. After we finished eating, she brought out the coffee beans in a roasting pan for us to smell. After brewing the coffee, she even joined us to explain the traditions and etiquette of enjoying coffee as a group, and overall was incredibly welcoming and friendly. It was a wonderful experience learning about a different culture and I will definitely be visiting again.

Usually go down the street to Queen of Sheba but they were closed so I tried this spot. The awaze tibbs were the texture of beef jerky. Just inedible. The veggie combo wasn’t bad but can’t say I’d eat here again. Ethiopian is my favorite food and I haven’t had a lot of bad Ethiopian but this shouldn’t have been allowed out of the kitchen

We had the fish dullet and dereq tibbs. It was very delicious, though watch out for the jalapenos mixed in if you're sensitive to spiciness. We got a side of lentils which were my favorite. Definitely get the traditional coffee even if you aren't a coffee lover (I normally prefer tea but loved this Ethiopian coffee flavor!). I plan to come back in the future.

The flavour of the food was good, but the cut of meat they gave me was so tough that I couldn't eat it. Also ran out of bread

This is really a hidden gem in the city of Inglewood. If you want fresh, flavorful, authentic Ethiopian food this is your place! I believe everything is made to order so it might take a little while to get your order but it’s worth the wait. I felt really welcomed by the owner Emma. If it’s your first time here I would recommend two things. First, park on La Brea and ask someone to open the gate so you can park inside if parking is available and Second, which could have easily been first, get the awaze tibbs and some honey wine. The sauce that comes on the awaze tibbs is full of flavor. This was only my second time here but I definitely plan on returning soon. Last thing I’ll say is if you get the chance check out the dining area out back.

🇪🇹 ETHIOPIA Excerpt from Eat the World Los Angeles: Regardless, it is lovely to be back inside places full of hospitality like Emma Habesha in Inglewood. Things may move a bit too slowly for city folks at times, but settle into the seats and the time frame and you are bound to be satisfied. The matriarch who does most of the cooking might also come to your table for ordering during weekday lunches when things are slower. Either way, it is a family affair through and through and it shows.

Tried the meat combo here last week while in town and although very reasonably priced, unfortunately it was one of the most bland Ethiopian restaurants that I have ever been to. They were out of the raw dishes which I felt could have possibly saved them as they're typically spicy, acidic and more flavorful? 🤔 The chicken egg dish and the lamb were the best. Actually had to add salt to everything, which I've never had to do at an Ethiopian restaurant. The other chicken entree was a somewhat indiscernable brownish grey mush. Injera, cabbage, salad and greens were bland as well. Service was friendly and the restaurant was nice and clean though. Maybe flavor is due to the the region for this particular Ethiopian cuisine? Not sure, unfortunately I wasn't impressed though and I've been to numerous Ethiopian restaurants.

First time here and definitely will not be the last. Amazing service and atmosphere. The lamb stew is a must! Emma's spices really made the dish 1000x more flavorful. So glad I came across this whole in the wall restaurant, expectations were very much exceeded!

Such a sweet little place. I loved the vibe inside and the server was very friendly. The food is delicious here, very very fresh and high quality ingredients. I'll be back with more co-workers in tow!

Food has a good taste, the atmosphere is hard to tell since we visited on a weekday after lunch time. The place was empty. Indoor and outdoor seating. Chose outdoor seating, but it was a little dirty with napkins and hookah trash around.

Dishonest, keep your receipt! or even better don't go! They changed my bill/tip to an extra 30% after I left the restaurant. Besides having to dispute it with my bank, The service was very poor; the guy was sleeping when I came in and the tables in the back were not bussed, with crumbs all over. Food was nothing special and was $48 for two people even before this incident.
