Delicious food. Great location near the beach. My favorite was the veggie burger I chose for mt enchiladas!! Best veggie burger I've had in my 50 years as a vegetarian and last 10 as a vegan. A ton of choices on the menu. Had the blueberry pie. Very nice and not over sweetened like usual. Would have been great with their vegan ice cream but I took it home to have later. My dad loved the ice cream. We'll be back(from OC) and will be telling our vegan friends in LA area.

When my friends told me we were going to go to a restaurant where they don't have any meat, I laughed in their faces. "How could such a restaurant even stay in business?" My friends told me that the most important thing is to not expect anything to taste like meat, just enjoy it for what it is. Boy, were they right. The food here has no meat, but it is DELICIOUS! I tried the Mushroom Walnut Loaf and the Mexarama with tempay(?). The loaf was cheesy and had a great flavor and texture. The savory sauce on the Mexarama had just the right amount of tanginess. The atmosphere is cozy and fits perfectly with the food.

We are super biased as we’ve been coming on and off for over 20 years. We even have the cookbook which is super easy to use. Everything tastes great if you are into comfort style vegetarian food with tons of gluten free options. Tonight I had the mushroom walnut loaf. And love adding their savory sauce to it. I paired it with their fantastic warm cinnamon apple cider and a lovely cookie for dessert. Oh and the service was fantastic.

The selection of vegan and vegetarian food is amazing! The staff were very attentive, friendly, and knew the menu well. The food was delicious. I had the mushroom walnut loaf with some split pea soup; the flavors were complex and the portions left me stuffed. My meat-eating friends loved it as much as I did. Grab a cookie while you're there, too!

A vegan and vegetarian cafe that is our favorite off the Strand at Hermosa Beach. The service has always been excellent. The portions are great. Can not get better for a small legendary cafe!

Worst place to eat. The quality of food was really bad. Never ever suggest anyone to go. My stomach got bloated because of food.

Strange place with awful customers service. I even didn't like the food only the price was great but still they need to do something about that.

The pasta and cookies I had there were delicious!! Visiting from Seattle, the vegan comfort food and the laid-back beach vibe of the place made me feel so relaxed and welcomed. A perfect place!!

Great comfort food! Remember to bring cash!

The claim is that the veggie burgers are indistinguishable from meat. I did not find that to be the case. The staff was very pleasant. If you are vegetarian or vegan, you likely will like it. Meat eaters in your party should plan on eating elsewhere.

Good Points: Staff was amazing, which made the experience great. Restaurant itself is decent, I wasnt afraid to eat there but definitely NOT a mid to upscale establishment. THE BAD?: The food was BLAH! Very BLAH. If I were a newly turned vegan, I would have abandoned the concept and went back to meat. Visiting the state and this has been the worse vegan food I've tasted. I basically spent $40 on an okay guacamole. Good thing, great people. Bad, I left hangry (hungry & angry?‍♀️). I rather had good food in my tummy! I'm really confused by the ratings!

The concept is not bad, I really liked the staff, but the food needs to be upgraded. Not necessarily to change style from old-school to something new which they don't want to do and something what they don't want to be presented by. The corn bread didn't have specific taste, the bread on sandwich was very yeasty...stuffed potatoes were fine. The food looks at the first look like a big mess. They could save money on the amount of cooked vegetables being served. We've ordered 4 meals and on every plate was a huge soup ladle of (looks like cut in a hurry) zucchini, carrots, cabbage, broccoli and maybe something more, which is not seasoned but just bland and overcooked. This way it not only degrades nutrients and adds acidity to the meal but also it destroys the flavor experience for the tongue, causes bloating effect and not to mention, the esthetic effect, because they are literally graving the entire meal in that veggie combo so all the meals (besides the sandwich) look and also taste the same! Portions are because of that huge. Not so efficient. On the picture, you see the graved corn bread and tostadas. Can you guess which one is what? Another thing, please clean the corner in the second room with the plant. I accidentally touched the plant and bunch of mini flies flew away. Sorry, wish them the best for the future.

My husband and I were craving a simple home-cooked healthful meal. This place hit the spot! It wasn't super oily unhealthy vegan food. We had a meal that included brown rice and the best collard greens! Also had fresh carrot juice that was spot on!

Food tasted great! Got one of the combos and was quite filing. Especially loved the hard taco shell and the housemade veggie filing. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere.

I am so glad to see The Spot is still there. When I lived in the South Bay it was my favorite restaurant. I haven't been there for many years because I now live in Oregon but we still use their cookbook. That is how memorable the place is.

Old school vegetarian restaurant. Excellent menu with delicious choices. Been here since 1982. Call ahead and order, gets busy. One block off the beach ⛱️ and nice service.

Not the worst place I've ever eaten. The food is definitely old school vegetarian and vegan. It was good enough for me but my husband really disliked everything. The service was great but we'll probably not come back.

Really great spot! Had their peach cobbler! Amazing.. We swung in here twice while visiting! Their cookies were the size of small pancakes. One of he best vegan restaurants we’ve been too. Sat in their dining area and also in their back covered patio.... they would be one of the reasons I would go back to Hermosa and stay for visit!

Great food, lots of choices, reasonably priced, and a nice beach vibe atmosphere. Went with one of my friends who's a Vegan and we loved the food. I believe each dish has a vegan option to it so everyone can enjoy things on the menu. Prices were much more reasonable than a health food chain and the location is great being right next to Hermosa Beach. Cash or PayPal only. I think we'll be back again!

I visit Versailles on the takeout/ cafe side. I love their chicken empanadas. Their cafe con leche is decent - I suggest driving 2ish miles to Mary's on 27th street for that (Mary's cafe con leche is delicious). Versailles' customer service is sub-par; the waitresses seem uninterested in taking your order unless you noticeably speak Spanish. I've visited several times and have had the same experience in that regard. But worth the trip for the empanadas.

Despite the name this huge place is a Cuban, not a French restaurant. It has been around for a long time and is very popular, serving 1600 - 1700 meals a day. Despite the crystal chandeliers and etched glass mirrors it's quite plain with bare plastic tables and paper placemats. I have to assume that the food is authentic, given the location where Spanish is much more common than English. I thought it was adequate and it certainly was plentiful. They also have an on-site bakery with great looking products. There is abundant parking and they sure need it.

BEST vegan tacos and burritos on the planet. We adore this family-owned business that's also the oldest vegetarian restaurant in Los Angeles adorned by Sir Paul McCartney back in the day. Do not miss its famous savory sauce - it's the absolute best.

This place has been around forever. I remember when I was a kid and my dad would always take us to The Spot, he was an early adopter of natural/healthy/organic/vegetarian/dairy-free eating. I’ll be honest, as a kid I wasn’t always stoked to go there - but I’m staying on Hermosa Beach for a business trip, and after flying all day The Spot was exactly what I needed and wanted! I got El Burrito, with guac and chips, and a side of their carrots and tahini. So good!

I'll start by saying I only went there because of a coworker, and had low expectations of vegan food. Wow, was I wrong! The food was excellent- very flavorful and tasty. Added benefit was the great service and atmosphere! Can't wait to go back. Note: they did not take MC/Visa when I went, so be ready with cash or electronic payment. Love this place!

My favorite everyday vegan spot! We’re a long term plant based family, but get sick and tired of all the supper fatty and over processed vegan restaurants out there. This place strikes the perfect balance.
